1995 Toyota Pickup problems
The Toyota Tacoma is a pickup truck manufactured by Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota since 1995. The first-generation Tacoma (model years 1995 through 2004) was classified as a compact pickup. The second generation (model years 2005 through 2015) and third generation (in production since 2015) models are classified as mid-sized pickups. The Tacoma was Motor Trend's Truck of the Year for 2005.
As of 2015, the Tacoma was sold in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Bermuda, and the French overseas collectivity of New Caledonia. Most markets across the world receive the Toyota Hilux in lieu of the Tacoma.
The name "Tacoma" was derived from the Coast Salish peoples' name for Mount Rainier in the U.S. state of Washington.

Common 1995 Toyota Pickup problems
The Toyota Pickup 1995 has been known to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. One of the most frequently reported issues is automatic transmission not shifting correctly at high mileages. This issue is often caused by worn-out or damaged transmission components, which can lead to poor shifting performance and even complete transmission failure in severe cases.
Another common problem with the Toyota Pickup 1995 is its passenger issues. The interior and seating of the vehicle are known to be exceptionally small, making it difficult to fit two or more passengers comfortably. Additionally, the vehicle is not very child-friendly, with car seats and other kid-friendly necessities being a challenge to install and use.
The Toyota Pickup 1995 is also known to be high maintenance, with many owners reporting frequent breakdowns and expensive repairs. The electrical systems of the vehicle are particularly problematic, with numerous recent recalls due to shoddy electricals and faulty engines.
The braking system of the Toyota Pickup 1995 is also a cause for concern. In 2014, Toyota recalled a large number of vehicles due to various safety issues, including broken systems, insufficient stability control, faulty anti-lock brakes, and other electrical issues.
Finally, the Toyota Pickup 1995 is known to be thirsty, with high fuel consumption rates that can be a significant expense for owners. This issue is particularly problematic given the increasing price of gasoline.
In summary, the Toyota Pickup 1995 has several common problems that owners should be aware of, including automatic transmission issues, passenger issues, high maintenance requirements, electrical system problems, braking system issues, and high fuel consumption rates.

STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2011-03-15
- VIN: 4TARN01P0SZ
- Components: STRUCTURE
- Summary: THIS IS CONCERNING ANOTHER RUSTY TOYOTA TRUCK FRAME. MY TRUCK FRAME IS RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH WITH AT LEAST ONE HOLE THE SIZE OF A SOFTBALL. I SEE THAT THE 95.5 YEAR TRUCK WAS RECALLED WHY WASN'T MINE TOO? MINE IS A '95 MODEL SO I BARELY MISSED THE CUT OFF WHICH MAKES IT HURT ALL THE MORE. WHY WAS THE CUTOFF SET AFTER MY TRUCK? WHAT DETERMINED THE CUTOFF POINT? FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THERE ARE A LOT OF OLDER TOYOTA TRUCKS WITH FRAMES RUSTED COMPLETELY IN HALF AND MINE IS NOT FAR BEHIND THEM. MY TRUCK IS IN GOOD SHAPE EXCEPT OF COURSE FOR THE FRAME. THE BODY DOESN'T HAVE ANY HOLES ALTHOUGH THERE IS SOME RUST. I HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THIS TRUCK AND HAVE HAD IT ALMOST TEN YEARS AND WOULD CERTAINLY BE ABLE TO DRIVE IT QUITE A FEW MORE YEARS IF IT WASN'T ABOUT READY TO RUST IN HALF. IT'S NOT SAFE SO WHAT SHOULD I DO? CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT AND RISK MY LIFE AND THE LIVES OF OTHERS BECAUSE OF A DEFECT FROM TOYOTA? I DO BELIEVE THEY SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS AND MY TRUCK EITHER REPAIRED OR SOME COMPENSATION FOR ME. I WOULD THINK THE FRAME WOULD HAVE BEEN MADE OUT OF A HEAVIER GAUGE STEEL THAN THE BODY PANELS AND WELL OUT LASTED EVERY OTHER METAL PART ON THE TRUCK SEEING IT IS THE "BACKBONE" OF THE VEHICLE SO OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE A CONCERN OF YOUR AGENCY. *TR

APPROXIMATELY FIVE YEARS LATER, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL BUT IT WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE TURN SIGNAL WOULD NOT FUNCTION BECAUSE THE ALIGNMENT WITHIN THE STEERING COLUMN WAS NOT CORRECT. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,000.

STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2008-01-15
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: I OWN A 1995 TOYOTA EXTENDED CAB PICKUP. IT IS A 2WD CAR, NO POWER STEERING. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE RELAY RODS FOR OTHER MODEL TOYOTA CARS COVERING MY YEAR BUT NOT FOR MY YEAR. RECENTLY, STEERING THE CAR BECAME UNSAFE (SOMEWHAT LOOSE). I JACKED THE CAR UP AND NOTICED THAT THE RELAY ROD WAS SEPARATING NEAR THE IDLER ARM. I TOOK DIGITAL PHOTOS. LOCAL DEALER EVENTUALLY PAID FOR THE RELAY ROD WORK AFTER CLAIMING IT, BUT WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE PARTS FOR THE IDLER ARM & STEERING DAMPER, WHICH ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE RELAY ROD & WILL WEAR QUICKER WITH A RELAY ROD SEPARATING LIKE MINE WAS. I REQUEST THAT THE NHTSA PLEASE REVIEW THIS MATTER AND ASSIST IN HAVING THE FULL PARTS CLAIM PAID. HAD I NOT CAUGHT THE RELAY ROD FAILURE AT THE TIME I DID, I AM INFORMED BY A MECHANIC THAT I WOULD HAVE LOST ALL CONTROL OF THE CAR (CATASTROPHIC FAILURE). TOYOTA INITIALLY FULLY DENIED MY CLAIM AS NOT BEING PART OF THE 2005 RECALL, BUT DUE TO THE DEALERS ASSISTANCE THEY COVERED JUST THE PARTS & LABOR ON THE RELAY ROD. I CAN EMAIL THE DIGITAL PHOTOS OF THE FAILING RELAY ROD. HAD IT NOT BEEN CAUGHT & CHANGED I AM INFORMED IT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE / LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. *TR

- Summary: TRUCK'S GAUGE WENT IN THE RED ZONE HOT, I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND TOWED IT TO HANSEL TOYOTA. I WAS THEN INFORMED THAT IT MAY BE UNDER THE RECALL ISSUE. ALOT OF 1995 TOYOTA P/U WERE RECALLED SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL ALONG WITH THE V6 ENGINE SIZE. WHEN THE SERVICE REP. PUNCHED IN MY TRUCK'S VIN#, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT IN THE RECALL SERIES OF VIN #'S. BUT IT SEEMS ODD THAT THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, MODEL AND V6 ENGINE SIZE WAS RECALLED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM THAT I'M HAVING IN MY TRUCK AND MY VIN # WASN'T RECALLED. I HAVE HAD THE WATER PUMP AND THE THERMOSTAT WAS REPLACE BY HANSEL TOYOTA. THEY DIDN'T KNOW IF THE WATER PUMP AND THERMOSTAT WAS DAMAGED UNTIL THEY HAVE THE ENGINE APART. THEY DID SHOW THAT THE HEAD GASKET WAS DIFNITELY DAMAGED BY THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT THEY RAN. I THINK THATIT SHOULD BE UNDER THE SAME RECALL, BECAUSE THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL AL ONG WITH THE V6 ENGINE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. *AK
