The Hyundai Genesis (Korean: 현대 제네시스) is an executive car manufactured and marketed by Hyundai Motor Company over two generations from 2008 until 2016, before it was renamed the Genesis G80. It is a five-passenger, four-door, rear- or all-wheel-drive sedan.
Introduced in concept form at the 2007 New York International Auto Show, and internally designated as the BH model, the Genesis was expected to cost $533 million to develop. Hyundai began marketing the first generation Genesis worldwide (except in Europe) in 2008 as a "premium sports sedan". The second generation Genesis (model DH) debuted in Seoul, Korea in November 2013 followed by the 2014 North American International Auto Show and Toronto Auto Show.
On 4 November 2015, Hyundai announced that the name Genesis and Hyundai's second generation luxury model would move to a new and separate luxury division, Genesis Motor. The Genesis — as a Hyundai model — was replaced in actuality in 2017 when the second generation Hyundai Genesis was renamed the G80. The move followed the model's success in the luxury market, paired with consumer acceptance of the Genesis nameplate.

- Summary: Factory recall 24V-107: On [XXX] took car to Haselwood Hyundai of Bremerton WA. for MANF. recall Genesis Starter Solenoid water contamination. Recall was completed in 2 hours when driving home car went into emergency mode and shut down on freeway with completely dead battery. Was told by dealership they would not pay 1200 tow bill. Applied for AAA membership and was approved. Car was towed back to dealership on August 28th with approx. 100 miles driven since Aug 9th. Dealership had no idea that costs would be reimbursed by Hyundai. Had they known this the car would have been towed ASAP after breakdown. Note: This vehicle had no issues prior to this factory recall being installed. On August 29 service adviser Brandon said Alternator and battery needed replacement. This made no sense because car had no electrical problems prior to factory install. Authorized dealer to replace this equipment if necessary since I would be reimbursed. Sept 2nd Paid dealer $1,567.00 for repairs. After leaving dealer car ran for 62 miles went into emergency mode with completely dead battery. Sept 3rd car again towed into dealership. My car has run for a total of 4 hours since Aug 9th factory recall repair. I've been without transportation going on 4 weeks because of this incident. Hence, I write to text to you asking for assistance in getting this incident over with. I thank you in advance for your time and interest in this request. I called my local dealership in Enfield, CT and they had me bring my car in on Thursday [XXX]. So I made arrangements to leave my car there for the day. I get a call in the afternoon stating that they didn’t have the part to fix it and they would have to get it. So after being inconvenienced by not having my car for the day, the problem wasn’t even fixed. So after a couple of weeks of not hearing anything from the dealership, I called to check on it. They still didn’t have the part. So now it’s August 19th and I called again to check on it and there’s still no part to fix it. This is very discouraging since I drive this car often and there’s a fire risk of it being parked or driving. I don’t really understand what is going. Is there no part to fix the recall? We bought our first Genesis in 11/11. We absolutely love the car and have had such good luck with it that we purchased another Genesis last spring, trading in my wife's Audi A6. The build quality is fantastic with no squeaks or rattles, and the reliability has been excellent so far. We are getting about 21 mpg around town in mixed driving and over 28 mpg on the road.

2015 Genesis 3.8 RWD Ultimate Package - CPO (certified pre-owned) purchase. If you're in the market for a good value in slightly used luxury, then you've come to the right place. This Genesis is unbeatable in terms of value. Firstly, it's up there in terms of luxury and refinement with the big name brands. Secondly, it was $10-15k less than comparable cars when new (if you include all the options). Thirdly, it (perhaps unfairly) depreciates like a rock for the first couple of years (~40% vs MSRP). So, already lower than comparable MSRP + higher than average depreciation rate = great used value. Of course, none of this matters if the car is junk. But don't worry, it's not junk. It has a good reliability rating (according to the major consumer reporting publication), a good warranty even when used, all the fancy doodads except Apple Carplay and Android Auto (G80's do), and it oozes luxury, making cars like the Acura TLX feel like a budget car. There are a million reviews on the 2015/2016's out there; most agree on its luxurious fit and finish, super quiet cabin, stylish exterior, comfortable but not so sporty ride, okay mileage, awesome sound system, easy-to-use infotainment that's full of tech - but please do your own research. A test drive should tell you if you'll enjoy this car's ride that clearly prioritizes comfort over sportiness. My personal likes not normally mentioned in reviews: I didn't think I'd like the HUD on the ultimate package as much as I do, but I love it. I've heard it's one of the best in the business. However, I had to switch out my polarized driving sunglasses because the HUD display will get blocked out. I found the turn radius to be surprisingly good - our driveway has a turn into the garage, so a good turn radius is much appreciated. I'm getting about 20 mpg with 80/20 city to hwy miles - not bad but not great. My quibbles: there's no power outlet or USB port for back seaters. Some tech and safety aids are a bit over the top.It sounds like you had a bit of a rough ride with your car recently. It can be frustrating to deal with alarms and warnings, especially when you're just trying to park! When it comes to warranties, it's important to read the fine print and understand exactly what you're getting. Some dealerships may try to sell you additional warranties that aren't actually necessary. If you're financing your car, it's always a good idea to shop around for the best rates and make sure you're getting a fair deal. I hope this helps!

I chose the Genesis based on my positive experience with the Sonata. However, I was disappointed to find that the quality did not meet my expectations. In the first year, I experienced issues with the drivers seat mechanism, collision detection sensors, and steering wheel adjustment motor. Despite this, the dealership did an excellent job of resolving the issues. While I found the customer service response from Hyundai Motor America to be lacking, I must say that the car is loaded with features, drives great, is quiet, and looks good. The A/C programming algorithms could use some work, and I have had some trouble keeping the smaller engine under 80 mph. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase, but I do wish that the quality of this car matched my previous Hyundai experience.

Not only does it have comparable features to the BMW and Audi, but it also comes at a much more affordable price point. The Genesis ride is both sporty and comfortable, with great acceleration and a whisper-quiet engine. In my opinion, BMW and Audi should be on watch as the Genesis is a strong contender in the market. It's surprising to me that this car is only rated a B on Edmunds.

This car is absolutely stunning! It could easily be mistaken for a high-end Benz or Bentley. The comfort and quality are top-notch, and the Lexicon sound system is simply amazing. It's the perfect car for cruising down the highway.

Although the car experienced a complete shutdown while driving, the dealer has taken full responsibility for the issue and is replacing the engine with a brand new one at no cost. Their service has been exceptional, and they are even sending the old engine back to their factory for further investigation. While I appreciate their efforts, I have decided to sell the car as I no longer feel confident in its reliability. Thank you for your understanding.

I am experiencing an issue with my brake pedal occasionally going to the floor, resulting in no braking at all. Unfortunately, I have been informed that the ABS module has failed and is not covered by warranty, despite only having 62,199 miles on the vehicle as the 2nd owner. The repair cost is $2,500. It seems that this is a common problem with Hyundais and I believe it should be covered as a recall due to a potential defect in the engineering/manufacturing process. If you're looking for a decent car with advanced features at a reasonable price, this car might be a good fit for you. However, it's important to note that the dealership may not provide the same level of service as a luxury dealership. The service experience may not be up to par and it's possible that some features may not work as well as expected. It's important to keep in mind that this is not a Lexus or Mercedes, but rather a Hyundai. Despite some shortcomings, the car has many advanced features. The automatic windshield wipers and lane keeping system may not work as well as those on older Mazdas and BMWs, and the automatic emergency braking system may not work in heavy rain. Additionally, the dealership may not offer software updates or loaner cars. However, if you're willing to overlook these issues, this car could be a good option for you. Overall, it's important to manage your expectations and keep in mind that this is not a luxury car experience.Until Hyundai separates the brands with separate dealers, the experience will always feel like a Hyundai.

We were thrilled to purchase our dream luxury car, the 2013 Hyundai Genesis, due to its excellent price for the standard equipment and options, top-notch crash results comparable to Mercedes, and the unbeatable warranty. However, after a few months of driving, we noticed that the air conditioner was not keeping the car cool after 2 hours of driving, which made our road trips uncomfortable. Despite taking the car back to the dealership multiple times, the issue was not resolved. We understand that the dealership has to follow certain procedures, but we were disappointed that they were unable to find a solution for our brand new car. We hope that in the future, they will be able to provide better customer service and support. It's frustrating that the car's air conditioner stops working after an hour and a half of continuous driving, and unfortunately, the dealership was unable to duplicate the issue during the three summers we brought it in for repair. Despite this ongoing issue, we still believe that the Genesis is a great car with many wonderful amenities. However, without a functioning air conditioner, it's difficult to fully enjoy the car's features. Our Genesis is now almost 5 years old and has 39,100 miles on it, and unfortunately, it's out of warranty. We would highly recommend the Genesis to anyone looking for a great car, but we do hope that the air conditioning issue can be resolved for future models.

I bought this car about two weeks ago and I'm pretty happy with it so far. The cabin is quiet and the car is very powerful, which makes driving it a lot of fun. However, we recently had our first glimpse of snow which resulted in a light dusting. Unfortunately, this incredible car was completely immobilized in a parking lot by just a dusting of snow! I was nervous about purchasing a RWD vehicle because of this exact thing, but my fears were assuaged by the salesman and online reviews, all of which suggested that RWD vehicles have come a long way and are no longer a complete liability in bad weather. I still really enjoy driving this vehicle, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who wants to use it as their primary vehicle in areas where you may see even a little snow or ice.
