2013 Hyundai Equus problems
The Hyundai Equus (Korean: 현대 에쿠스; RR: Hyundai Equus) was manufactured and marketed by Hyundai Motor Company from 1999 to 2016 over two generations, as a full-size car, four-door, five passenger luxury sedan with a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. The nameplate deriving from the Latin, equus, meaning "horse."
In 2009, Hyundai released the second generation with a rear-wheel drive platform. As of August 2014, the second generation is sold in South Korea, Russia, China, United States, Canada, Central America, and South America — as well as in the Middle East under the Hyundai Centennial nameplate.
On November 4, 2015, Hyundai officially announced it would move the Genesis model to Hyundai's new luxury vehicle division, Genesis Motor. The 2016 successor to the Hyundai Equus was rebranded as Genesis G90 (EQ900 in Korea until 2018).

2013 Hyundai Equus recalls

Pampered interior and ride, powerful engine, big, and spacious. I'm so glad I bought this car! I get compliments on it daily and have no regrets. I absolutely love it!

I sold this car one year ago. I am now driving a 2017 Genesis G90. If you are interested, I must say that although my Equus was a fine automobile, my new Genesis exceeds my expectations in all areas.
-
I bought my Equus in June 2020 with 65k miles and I am extremely satisfied with it. The ride is quiet, the 5.0 engine is torquey, and the front seats are heated/cooled while the rear seats are heated (although I doubt I'll ever use that feature). The interior design and ergonomics are simple yet attractive, and everything feels like it's of high quality. Having previously sold BMWs and valeted at high-end restaurants, I can confidently say that this car made me realize that a badge is just a badge. I now own a luxury 4-door sedan with a muscle car V8, and I don't have to worry about reliability issues. In just two weeks, I've received numerous compliments and inquiries about my car. I have no complaints, and I believe that Hyundai has truly stepped up their game!
-
I hope you had a great time test driving the 2012 Signature Equus! It sounds like it was a really smooth ride, and I'm glad to hear that you loved it!

I bought a 2012 EQUUS BRAND NEW. This car has been the best purchase I've ever made. I'm having a hard time finding a new car that can measure up to it. In the 8 years that I've had it, I haven't had any major problems. People are still impressed by my car. Additionally, my warranty and buy back warranty are still in place. I feel very fortunate to have such a great car.

Before purchasing my Equus, I looked at several cars. The dealers kept telling me how reliable the Equus was and emphasized their valet service. Overall, I have been happy with the car's performance. However, during the summer, I noticed that the interior of the car would get too hot even with the AC at maximum settings. I contacted Equus, and they set up an appointment with Alexandria Hyundai. As part of their valet service, they were supposed to pick up the car at my location and deliver a luxury loaner car, either an Equus or Genesis. Unfortunately, Alexandria Hyundai had to cancel three times because they only had one luxury loaner car. When I expressed my frustration, I was told that the person who had the loaner car was not satisfied with his service, so they were still working on his car. I contacted Equus customer assistance again, and they scheduled an appointment with Fairfax Hyundai. They were supposed to provide a Genesis as a replacement car, but they showed up an hour late and brought a Hyundai Sonata instead. If Equus wants to compete with the big boys like Mercedes, Lexus, BMW, and Infiniti, they should put up or shut up. We were considering purchasing a Genesis as our second car, but based on the unkept promises of Equus, I guess we won't be spending any more of our money on a Hyundai. My advice to you is to spend the extra bucks and get a car that has some support behind it, not just a lot of hot air.

The comfort of the front seats in the Equus was a serious concern for me during long distance trips. After purchasing the car and taking a 900 mile trip a day later, I experienced significant discomfort and pain in my back, legs, and arms. However, after showing the Hyundai Dealer articles on Autoblog about the seats, I was able to convince them to buy the car back. I then traded up for a Lexus LS460 with 14,000 miles and just completed a 600 mile trip with no pain or discomfort. While I tried to modify the seats in the Equus, they were poorly designed and could not be improved.
