The Honda S2000 is a front-mid engine open top sports car that was manufactured by Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda, from 1999 until 2009. First shown as a concept car called the SSM at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1995, the production version was launched on April 15, 1999, to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary. The S2000 is named for its engine displacement of two litres, while "S" stood for "sports" carrying on in the tradition of the S500, S600, and S800 roadsters of the 1960s.

- Summary: CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THE LENS OF THE SIDE MARKER LAMP AND SIDE REFLEX REFLECTOR IN THE TAIL LAMP ASSEMBLY WERE MANUFACTURED WITH INCORRECT DYE.
- Consequence: THIS DOES NOT COMPLY WITH THE STANDARD.

This car is a blast to drive! It demands your full attention with its responsive handling and engaging gearshifter. I also own an old 911 and this is the closest thing I've found to driving it. While I wish it had a bit more power at the line, I believe the 2004 2.2 liter model is supposed to address that. Additionally, I'm in the process of upgrading the stereo speakers to produce a fuller sound. The 2000 model only had door speakers, which are partially blocked by your legs.

Driving my car is my favourite part of the day. This car has everything you could ever want in a sports car: great handling, power, a 9k redline, a convertible top, new technology, and much more. It also gets an average of about 25mpg. Below 6k rmps, this car is extremely fun to drive and still has enough power to get you where you need to go. Above 6k rmps (VTEC), it's like a roller coaster ride. The car rockets forward as you watch the digital speedometer climb. When the rev limiter lights up, you know it's time to shift for another 3k rmps of powerful, head-jerking, adrenaline-inducing fun.

This car broke in well at 15,000 miles. I call it 'Songbird' for its sound. The more I drive it, the more I like it. Don't be afraid to buy one with some miles on it. Don't listen to the naysayers, just drive it.

In 2000, I was on the hunt for a sports car. I test drove the new Lexus, Audi GT, and Boxter before getting behind the wheel of the S2000. From the moment I started driving it, I was hooked! The S2000 had everything I was looking for - speed, go-kart handling, and reliability. As someone who spends 50% of their time in England, I knew I had to have this car. I was lucky enough to find a 1999 Red S2000 with only 1500 miles on it. The previous owner, a little old lady, thought it was too hot for her and kept it in her garage. The winding backroads of England were made for this car, and I have had an absolute blast driving it! Three years later, I now have two S2000's (for the price of one Porsche) and I couldn't be happier. Not a single complaint to be had!

The 2000 and 2001 models have unfortunately experienced a series of electrical and mechanical issues, including oil starvation, oil consumption, ECU failure, spark plugs backing out, and serious issues with bent valves. While some of these issues may be attributed to driver error, many are due to quality control and design issues. It is important to note that some of these problems can lead to catastrophic engine failure. I recently purchased a Honda convertible, but unfortunately, I have experienced some issues with it. The convertible top ripped and is quite loud on the freeway, causing me discomfort. Additionally, I had to pay $2000.00 to fix a broken valve, which was not covered under warranty. I also had to replace the xenon bulb three times. Despite these issues, I appreciate the car's appearance and performance, but I believe there is room for improvement in terms of reliability.

This car is fun to drive but not when it is sitting in the driveway with a need of major engine repair. The reason, the early years have a bad flow of oil. Not quite sure why but apparently the Europeans caught on to this and fixed the problem early on. This car sucks oil. Honda dealerships need to tell people this when purchasing. Honda also needs to make others aware of this situation. Low oil in any engine is a bad thing. Especially when the oil light never comes on to warn the driver.
