The ninth generation Accord is a mid-size car introduced by Honda in 2012 which received a refreshed front fascia, grille, headlights, tail lights and alloy wheel designs for the 2016 model year. With the discontinuation of the smaller European and Japanese market Accord in 2015, the larger North American Accord became the only version in production, with the Hybrid version taking over as the flagship of Honda's automotive product in many markets that once received the smaller Accord.

Overview

For the ninth generation Accord, Honda appointed Shoji Matsui, who served as an engineer on the Accord platform from 1985 to 1996 as lead project manager. It is the first Honda vehicle to be completely developed under the administration of Honda CEO Takanobu Ito.

Honda revealed the Accord Coupe Concept at the January 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. In August 2012, the company released initial details pertaining to the 2013 Accord sedan, and production versions of both the sedan and coupe were fully unveiled in early September 2012.

Common 2015 Honda Accord fhev problems

The 2015 Honda Accord FHEV, a hybrid version of the popular sedan, has been reported to have several common issues based on complaints from owners. Here are some of the most common problems and their details:

  • Transmission failure: Transmission slippage, poor shifting, skipping, or failure may occur in some Accords, usually at over 70,000 miles. Repair might require a transmission overhaul or complete replacement. The cost for repairs can run anywhere from $2,000 to $4,000. If the vehicle is under the factory warranty, the repairs should be covered.
  • Compliance bushing cracking: If you hear squealing or feel shuddering when turning, it could mean that a part of the steering/suspension mechanism is broken. The compliance bushing is typically the culprit, especially in Accords with 95,000 miles or more. In some cases, a cracked compliance bushing will be detected upon routine service or oil change. Typical repair cost for this problem is $500 to $600.
  • Power door lock failure: Your Accord’s power door locks might activate intermittently on their own, usually on vehicles with over 105,000 miles. Also, the remote door lock control might not function properly. Each door has an actuator, and if one is faulty the entire system can be affected. It costs about $200 to have a door lock actuator replaced.
  • Dashboard display dark: For Accords with more than 109,000 miles, you might experience the dashboard display going dark, especially the radio and climate control. This problem is caused by a faulty circuit board which should be replaced. The total cost to repair, parts included, can be around $200 to $300.

These common problems with the 2015 Honda Accord FHEV can help potential buyers be aware of the issues they might face and take preventive measures to avoid them. Regular maintenance, timely repairs, and staying informed about the vehicle's health can significantly extend the life of the car and ensure a smooth driving experience.

What is the power system problem on a 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid?

The Problem: Electrical interference may cause the hybrid system to switch into fail-safe mode, disabling the gasoline engine, limiting the vehicle's speed to 40 mph and functioning only on battery power; once the battery is depleted, the vehicle will stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

How many miles will a 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid last?

A hybrid battery will typically last at least 8 years or up to 100,000 miles since US manufacturers are required to warranty them for that long by law. But some experts, like Auto Trader, say that these batteries often last 10 to 15 years or around 120,000 to 150,000 miles.

  • Date Of Incident: 2018-07-14
  • VIN: 1HGCR2F87FA

  • Summary: I PURCHASED A CERTIFIED USED HONDA 8/2018. I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY FOR NOT STARTING AND A POWER FAILURE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION WHERE CARS WE GOING 40 MILES PER HOUR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES FOR THIS BATTERY FAILURE. THEY TOLD ME THE CAR PURCHASE WAS ALMOST A YEAR OLD AND BATTERIES WERE NOT COVERED. I HAVE HAD 3 OIL CHANGES AN HAVE PUT 11,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE SINCE THE PURCHASE AT 34,000 MILES. DURING THE LAST OIL CHANDE THE TIRES WERE ROTATED ON 7/10/2019. I RETURNED BACK WITH THE CAR ON 7/11/2018 TO TELL THEM THE CAR WAS NOT ROLLING SMOOTHLY. I TOOK THE CAR TO DOBBS AND A SECOND TIRE MANUFACTURER AND THEY INFORMED ME THE ROTATED TIRES ON THE FRONT OF THE CAR WERE DRY ROTTED. I RETURNED IT TO THE DEALER WITH PAPERWORK FROM DOBBS THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY SAID THE ONLY WAY THEY COULD RECTIFY THE PROBLEM WAS TO SELL ME NEW TIRES. I KNOW THE CAR IS USED BUT, IF IT WAS CERTAINLY CERTIFIED WHY WOULD I HAVE TO REPLACE STANDARD ITEMS WITH 60,000 MILE WARRANTIES SO SOON? ACCORDING TO MY DEALER NOTHING IS COVERED WHEN I MAKE A REQUEST REGARDING VEHICLE SERVICES.
