For the ninth generation Accord, Honda appointed Shoji Matsui, who served as an engineer on the Accord platform from 1985 to 1996 as lead project manager. It is the first Honda vehicle to be completely developed under the administration of Honda CEO Takanobu Ito.
Honda revealed the Accord Coupe Concept at the January 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. In August 2012, the company released initial details pertaining to the 2013 Accord sedan, and production versions of both the sedan and coupe were fully unveiled in early September 2012.

I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY FOR NOT STARTING AND A POWER FAILURE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION WHERE CARS WE GOING 40 MILES PER HOUR. I HAVE HAD 3 OIL CHANGES AN HAVE PUT 11,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE SINCE THE PURCHASE AT 34,000 MILES. DURING THE LAST OIL CHANDE THE TIRES WERE ROTATED ON 7/10/2019. I RETURNED BACK WITH THE CAR ON 7/11/2018 TO TELL THEM THE CAR WAS NOT ROLLING SMOOTHLY. I TOOK THE CAR TO DOBBS AND A SECOND TIRE MANUFACTURER AND THEY INFORMED ME THE ROTATED TIRES ON THE FRONT OF THE CAR WERE DRY ROTTED. I RETURNED IT TO THE DEALER WITH PAPERWORK FROM DOBBS THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY SAID THE ONLY WAY THEY COULD RECTIFY THE PROBLEM WAS TO SELL ME NEW TIRES. I KNOW THE CAR IS USED BUT, IF IT WAS CERTAINLY CERTIFIED WHY WOULD I HAVE TO REPLACE STANDARD ITEMS WITH 60,000 MILE WARRANTIES SO SOON? THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE STARTER WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,400.
