Common 2011 Gmc Yukon hybrid problems

The 2011 GMC Yukon Hybrid has been reported to have several issues, with the most common ones being engine problems, excessive oil consumption, transmission failure, and fuel pump lines rusting.

One owner reported having an ABS code that required the replacement of the ABS module and a new hybrid battery, totaling $6,000. However, after getting the car back, it went into limp mode, and the dealer diagnosed a timing chain issue. After replacing the transmission twice, the car still had issues with acceleration, which the mechanic could not diagnose, and no codes were being pulled.

Another common issue reported was excessive oil consumption, with one owner reporting that their 2008 Yukon Hybrid had this problem. The owner had to add a quart of oil every 500 miles, which is not typical for a new vehicle. The dealer was unable to find a solution, and the owner had to live with the issue.

Transmission failure is another issue reported by owners of the 2009 Yukon Hybrid. One owner reported that their transmission failed at 50,000 miles, and the dealer was unable to find a solution. The owner had to replace the transmission, which was a significant expense.

Fuel pump lines rusting is another issue reported by owners of the 2009 Yukon Hybrid. One owner reported that their fuel pump lines rusted, causing a leak. The dealer was unable to find a solution, and the owner had to replace the fuel pump lines, which was a significant expense.

Steering and suspension problems have also been reported by owners of the 2011 GMC Yukon XL. One owner reported that the left front wheel hub bearing needed to be replaced due to age and mileage. This is not a typical DIY repair and would have cost over $500.00 to be done by an auto repair shop.

Overall, the 2011 GMC Yukon Hybrid has several issues, with engine problems, excessive oil consumption, transmission failure, and fuel pump lines rusting being the most common. These issues can be costly to repair and may require multiple visits to the dealer.

During an oil change at another dealership, no service recommendations were mentioned, yet a list of offset services was listed on Mopar. As I continued to drive, I noticed that the speed controls were limiting speeds, necessitating self-serviced accelerated drives. This has been ongoing for some time while driving and has required ongoing fuel adjustments. I have received tune-up services, coolant services, fuel services, wheel balancing, and several alignments, which have recently caused significant inconvenience. Routine maintenance has been performed, and the RPM gauge remains constant during operation. Make a unsafe drive.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-04-11
  • VIN: 1GKS2AE04BR
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: I, like thousands of other GMC owners have been frustrated to no end, having to deal with a cracked and highly unsafe vehicle dashboard. I own a 2011 GMC Yukon and my dashboard has cracked so bad, that it’s not only aesthetically unappealing but it poses a grave danger to myself and all passengers inside. If I were to be involved in an accident and the airbag deploy, it would send shards of hard sharp plastic through our faces. You can imagine how much pressure would be behind those sharp pieces as they embed into someone’s face. GMC owes it to its consumers to recall these dashboards and make it right. I feel GMC is intentionally and wrecklessly placing my family in danger by blatantly refusing to recall this obvious problem. As an American consumer, can you help me with this please? Thank you

Negative 2011 Gmc Yukon hybrid car reviews

  1. Wiley Fay 2024-11-07

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with the Yukon that I bought back in 2009. I was really excited about the hybrid feature and thought it would save me some money on gas. Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to the hype. I found that it wasn't as fuel-efficient as I had hoped and the build quality seemed a bit lacking. Additionally, the removable third row was quite heavy and difficult to put back in, which made it almost unusable for me. Just wanted to share my thoughts with you!

  2. Rollin Fadel 2024-05-11

The actuators that move the door locks keep burning out, one after the other. I'm on my fifth replacement. If the next one burns out, I'll have to contact a lawyer.

  3. Kirk Wunsch 2024-03-01

I purchased this truck brand new on New Year's Eve 2008. Although I have driven it for 7 months and 12k miles, I am disappointed with the fuel efficiency as I am only getting around 17 MPG. However, I am confident that with some adjustments to my driving habits, I can improve this. I have had to take it to the dealer twice for brake issues, but I am pleased that it was covered under warranty. The interior is nicely laid out, but the materials used seem to be of low quality. The driver's seat has ample leg and head room, but it could be more comfortable on long trips. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase. The truck has a smooth ride even at high speeds of 75-85 MPH. The cargo area is spacious when the 3rd row seats are removed. It is worth noting that the NAV system cannot be used without the radio being on.

  4. Uriel Blanda 2024-01-29

I purchased this truck with the expectation of achieving 21 mpg (city and highway). However, I found that in reality, the best I could manage was 13.8 mpg in town and 16.8 mpg on the highway, despite driving with a feather touch and monitoring the economy meter regularly. Even when using cruise control on the highway, I was unable to achieve better results. Although I was disappointed with the fuel efficiency, I ultimately decided to sell the truck at a loss rather than continue to be frustrated. The interior is made entirely of molded plastic, which was not to my liking.

Positive 2011 Gmc Yukon hybrid car reviews

  1. Jaron Lockman 2024-11-28

I bought the 2008 Yukon used in 2009 with only 1500 miles on it. What a truck! I'm averaging around 21.7 and I have a pretty heavy foot. I'm very happy with the truck, as it's getting better gas mileage than my BMW x3 with a weak six cylinder.

  2. Judson Johnston 2024-11-10

I've owned this vehicle for 6 years and have never experienced any mechanical or electrical issues. I recently replaced the electric shocks a few months ago. It's a great and reliable vehicle with custom headlights and 24 inch rims.

  3. Cameron Nicolas 2024-10-28

This is a fantastic vehicle! In just 9 months, I've driven over 27,000 miles in both city and highway conditions, including a short 300-mile trip towing a medium-sized Uhaul. It's incredibly comfortable on the road and around town. I'm thrilled to report that even with its 4WD and weight of 5,600 lbs, I'm still getting an impressive 18.5 MPG while pulling a trailer at 80 MPH, and 19.5 MPG on the open road at 85 MPH. Even around town, I'm averaging a solid 20 MPG, and I don't drive like a little old lady.

  4. Milford Marks 2024-10-08

After having owned the Yukon Hybrid for about a week, I have found the Yukon fun and easy to drive with excellent gas economy. The hybrid takes some getting used to--it sounds like a golf cart when starting out. After considerable research, we replaced a 4WD Tahoe and the difference in the mileage is startling and pleasing. We anticipate the difference between the conventional and hybrid will be obliterated in three years or less because of the gas. The interior is comfortable although the seats are harder than the older Tahoe. We took out the 3rd row of seats (not getting them was not an option)for more storage on trips. Overall, an excellent vehicle.

  5. Raleigh Boyer 2024-07-10

What a vehicle! It's so much fun to drive. I can even manipulate the truck to run on electric only around the neighborhood, which we've nicknamed the 'stealth mood'. I absolutely love this truck! As someone who has owned 8 new Suburbans, I can fully recommend this vehicle. It's truly awesome!
