Common Gmc Yukon hybrid problems
The GMC Yukon Hybrid has been praised for its fuel efficiency and low emissions, but it has also been associated with certain common problems. These issues have been reported by owners and can affect the overall ownership experience.
- ABS Codes and Module Replacement: Another issue reported by owners of the 2011 GMC Yukon Denali Hybrid is the vehicle giving off an ABS code. In this case, the owner had to replace the module and the hybrid battery, which cost around $6,000 in total. However, even after this repair, the vehicle continued to experience problems, including going into limp mode and eventually requiring a transmission replacement.
- Tailgate Light Not Working Properly: This is a relatively minor cosmetic issue that has been reported in the GMC Yukon, particularly in the 2015 model. The tailgate light not working properly can be frustrating, but it cannot be corrected with a new light bulb. Instead, the whole fixture has to be replaced, which can be relatively expensive for a cosmetic issue.
- Excessive Oil Consumption: This is a common problem with GMC Yukons, especially in the GMC Yukon years to avoid. Excessive oil consumption is not extreme, but it can make owning and maintaining a GMC Yukon more expensive than other vehicles. Unfortunately, there are no good solutions to this problem, and it can get worse over time.
- AC Not Working Properly: This problem is more common in the 2015 Yukon compared to other models. The repair is relatively expensive, but not unreasonable, at about $1,000 on average. The type of failure can impact the cost of the repair, which is worth noting.
These common problems with the GMC Yukon Hybrid can affect the overall ownership experience and should be considered when purchasing or maintaining this vehicle.

- Summary: Yesterday while unloading the rear of our 2021 GMC Yukon Denali the tailgate came down on me without warning and with force. I googled to see what might have caused this to happen and it stated that the struts might be worn out. (I am having that checked out today) Fortunately, I am a 6 foot 220 pound man and was not hurt but just the day before my 14 year old, 100 pound grand daughter was taking things things out of the rear of the vehicle. If the rear door would have come down on her it would have been a lot worse

- Summary: Numerous difficulties have arisen during the process of driving on multiple occasions. The tablet/Radio continues to reset, and the traction control sensor light continues to illuminate. I have communicated with the GMC service center on several occasions, and each time, no issues were found. During an oil change at another dealership, no service recommendations were mentioned, yet a list of offset services was listed on Mopar. As I continued to drive, I noticed that the speed controls were limiting speeds, necessitating self-serviced accelerated drives. This has been ongoing for some time while driving and has required ongoing fuel adjustments. I have received tune-up services, coolant services, fuel services, wheel balancing, and several alignments, which have recently caused significant inconvenience. Routine maintenance has been performed, and the RPM gauge remains constant during operation. Make a unsafe drive.

Despite numerous attempts to address these problems, I continue to experience issues with Continuity of service and performance Fueling system and coolant system problems (twice in six months) Stabilizer link light illumination during startup RPM acceleration while slowing down or stopping Ticking sound from the engine. Each time I bring my vehicle in for service, I am told that there are no issues with the performance, idle, or spark plugs, despite having recently received a full service tune-up. I suspect that there may be intentional damage or tampering with my vehicle, which is causing these persistent problems.I have not had any prior issues or service lights illuminated before, and there were no incidents reported by the previous owners. I believe there may be fraudulent activity involving the manufacturer and service providers. schedule a thorough inspection and diagnosis to address these recurring issues.

- Date Of Incident: 2021-03-01
- Date Complaint: 2023-12-11
- VIN: 1GKW2SEG1CR
- Components: AIR BAGS,STRUCTURE
- Summary: The problem started a couple of years ago as a small crack in the dashboard at the upper left corner of the airbag. The crack widened and lengthened after replacement of the air bag last year. Then the dash cracked earlier this year at the crown above the instrument cluster. It has completely separated and is nearly 12” in length. Not only does it rattle to the point of driver distraction, but I would think there is a high risk of shattering during a collision potentially causing facial lacerations, blindness and the like. I really don’t want to wait to find out. According to [XXX] , this is a well known issue with GM trucks, Suburbans and Yukons from 2007 to 2014 and GM has failed to make good on the problem. Requiring me to switch it transmission into natural and restart it as it’s rolling. I almost gotten rear ended many times I always get honked at. It just a matter of time before it causes an accident. It sometime happens after turning as well. I looked at forums on this gmc Yukon hybrid. And it looks like many other owners are asking the same question and nobody is coming up with any answers. Other customers say the dealer told them the hesitation is Normal. As someone who used to be a loyal Ford Expedition driver, I was growing tired and frustrated waiting for Ford to release an SUV Hybrid. However, I recently purchased this car and I am thrilled with it! The employee pricing made it an even better deal than what I had expected. I have already driven over 400 miles in town and it has exceeded my expectations in terms of fuel efficiency. In fact, I saved $15 on my first fill-up compared to my old Expedition, which is a significant saving. The car looks fantastic and drives like a dream. While I haven't taken it to San Diego yet, I am confident it will perform just as well. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.

I bought the 2008 Yukon used in 2009 with only 1500 miles on it. What a truck! I'm averaging around 21.7 and I have a pretty heavy foot. I'm very happy with the truck, as it's getting better gas mileage than my BMW x3 with a weak six cylinder.

What a vehicle! It's so much fun to drive. I can even manipulate the truck to run on electric only around the neighborhood, which we've nicknamed the 'stealth mood'. I absolutely love this truck! As someone who has owned 8 new Suburbans, I can fully recommend this vehicle. It's truly awesome!

I own a paper recycling company and my customer base is very environmentally conscious. I recently purchased a new Yukon Hybrid that fits our company image perfectly. I have been very pleased with the vehicle's performance, as it has averaged 21.7 MPG over the last 3,000 miles. The car is not only more fuel-efficient, but also quieter and handles better than my previous Cadillac Escalades. I am planning on purchasing two more Yukon Hybrids for my company as soon as the leases are up on the Escalades. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and believe that GM did a great job!

I have owned this car for about a month and I absolutely love it! It's so quiet, comfortable, and great to drive. I'm averaging about 18mpg, which is pretty good. The navigation system is fantastic and the back-up camera comes in very handy. There's so much room in this vehicle and it's an absolute pleasure to drive.

I purchased this truck brand new on New Year's Eve 2008. Although I have driven it for 7 months and 12k miles, I am disappointed with the fuel efficiency as I am only getting around 17 MPG. However, I am confident that with some adjustments to my driving habits, I can improve this. I have had to take it to the dealer twice for brake issues, but I am pleased that it was covered under warranty. The interior is nicely laid out, but the materials used seem to be of low quality. The driver's seat has ample leg and head room, but it could be more comfortable on long trips. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase. The truck has a smooth ride even at high speeds of 75-85 MPH. The cargo area is spacious when the 3rd row seats are removed. It is worth noting that the NAV system cannot be used without the radio being on.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with the Yukon that I bought back in 2009. I was really excited about the hybrid feature and thought it would save me some money on gas. Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to the hype. I found that it wasn't as fuel-efficient as I had hoped and the build quality seemed a bit lacking. Additionally, the removable third row was quite heavy and difficult to put back in, which made it almost unusable for me. Just wanted to share my thoughts with you!

The actuators that move the door locks keep burning out, one after the other. I'm on my fifth replacement. If the next one burns out, I'll have to contact a lawyer.
