Gmc Yukon denali problems
Denali is a nameplate used by GMC for its highest trim level on its vehicles. Vehicles with the Denali trim option carry list prices up to 47% higher than base models. Prices range from $38,600 for GMC Terrain to $109,410 for a top-of-the-line Yukon XL Denali (as of 2023).
The Denali nameplate is often used as an insignia or status symbol, and in particular is popular as a less costly alternative to the Cadillac marque. The Yukon Denali line typically represents 40% of Yukon sales in both units and dollars. In 2013 it sold more than 75,558 units of the Denali brand, which accounted for 20% of GMC's sales, making it one of GM's most successful sub-brands.
History
The Denali nameplate started as the top-of-the-line version of the GMC Yukon for the 1999 model year. It was also GM's first attempt to go after sales from the new-for-1998 Lincoln Navigator. At the time of its introduction. General Motors decided to give Cadillac its own luxury SUV so the Denali's exterior was shared with the 1999 Cadillac Escalade, with only the front fascia and lower side body panels differing from the standard Yukon. Although the Yukon was redesigned alongside the Chevrolet Suburban and Chevrolet Tahoe in 2000, the Yukon Denali, Escalade, and Tahoe Limited/Z71 retained their GMT400 base design.
The "Denali" brand was derived from the native Alaskan Athabaskans / Koyukon people's name for the tallest mountain in North America. It is also the name of the Denali National Park and Preserve that surrounds the mountain, as well as Denali State Park.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-07
- Date Complaint: 2024-10-08
- VIN: 1GKS2CKJ8GR
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: When driving through Eugene brakes suddenly got soft while at a stoplight, then pedal got stiff and very hard to keep pressed. An alert came on the dashboard 'Brake Assist Service' just about the same time the brake pedal changed and car would not fully stay at a stop. When checking to feel what had just happened, by letting up and repressing the brakes, it would not fully stop car, even with all my strength pressing. If another car would have been coming through, my young son or myself could have been killed or seriously injured and I could cause someone seriously to be hurt or killed from being in their lane of travel. I alerted my husband that I was unable to drive the vehicle safely, he is in the vehicle industry and looked up online and found there is a common known problem, recalls, and service bulletins, but apparently not for vehicle years prior to 2017, although this severe failure is seen on 2014 and later; and the manual tests/diagnostics that a person can do in a pinch per the bulletin, recall notice, and articles; and in his trials of how to tell if it is a failure or fleeting problem - nothing alleviated it, all the symptoms are present and system is failing and continually bringing up the brake assist service alert. This is the info that we found on the recall, but didn't appear to cover 2016 year models: [NHTSA campaign number: 20V603. GM's own number for this recall is N202300860.] We plan to get this yukon over to Guaranty Chevrolet in Junction City Oregon tomorrow 10/8. The only thing that has been very recently noticeable preceding this in recent week or so is a slight uneven braking feeling in the motion of the car when coming to a stop. Which it has not done before.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-05-06
- Date Complaint: 2024-09-21
- VIN: 1GKS1BKC4GR
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: While taking my children to school, the vehicles RPMs began to jump, causing the vehicle to lose power. Which resulted in myself and two children stranded on the side of the road. The vehicle had just crossed over 110,000 miles when the transmission completely broke apart from the inside. There was no other warnings or lights that appeared on the dash prior to or after. We had been given an estimate from GM for $6200 for a new transmission.. but that was extremely difficult to afford. We ultimately had to have the transmission rebuilt due to it costing $3,000 less, so we could continue going to work. We are still having issues with the transmission even after taking to back for a 2nd time to be reprogrammed. It’s extremely frustrating to have paid so much for this Yukon to have transmission go out with as many miles as it did, plus with no warnings.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-11
- Date Complaint: 2024-09-12
- VIN: 1GKS2CKJ1GR
- Components: SUSPENSION,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: i HAVE A SERVICE SUSPENSION LIGHT THAT CONTINUES TO POP UP ON DASHBOARD THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IS THE BRAKE LIGHTS. I have previously had the passenger side brake light stop working. In order to repair this you have to order a whole new taillight. My vehicle was approximatly 6 years old when this started happening. First incident (2022 with approximately 65000 miles) Yesterday, I was pulled over by a policeman and both of my brake lights are not working. We found a way to sauder (I know this is incorrect spelling) the broken metal piece back together in the taillight; however, this is not the correct way to fix the underlying problem and clearly it is only a temporary fix because the passenger side broke again in a new spot.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-05
- Date Complaint: 2024-09-11
- VIN: 1GKS1CKJ2FR
- Components: POWER TRAIN,EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Summary: My vehicle is currently in the shop getting the motor worked on for a bad lifter. From the information the mechanic provided me this is a common issue with the vehicles that have the Active Fuel Management system. They are seeing many of these vehicles have to come in and have very expensive repairs. My first quote I received was $16, 000, they told me I needed a whole new motor and this assessment cost me $365 and a rental car while they looked at the truck. Now it is in the shop again and the estimate is $6000 to machine the cams as there are metal shavings in my oil. I had to again rent a rental vehicle and have not had my truck for a week. This is the third mechanic that has seen multiple of these motors have to be replaced or repaired due to this issue. I kept up on my oil changes and other recommended car maintenance and so did the owner before me. I had my last oil change approx. a week before the loud ticking noise began, then my vehicle began to have a noticeable loss of power when driving and eventually began shuttering and my check engine light began to blink and I took it to the shop. A year ago I had to replace my tail lights. I was able to find where others were recalled by my VIN for some reason was not included in the recall. They started shorting out and working only part of the time which is very dangerous when stopping, especially at night. I had them replaced and paid almost $700 for the two back lights.

There were no warning lights or any other signs of the transmission failure.

- Summary: The contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon Denali. The contact stated while driving at approximately 20 MPH, the vehicle started decelerating with a slight clunking sound coming from underneath the front passenger’s side of the vehicle. The vehicle then lost motive power. The contact coasted to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. After waiting for a while, the vehicle was started and the contact became aware that the instrument panel and all other electrical systems were activated as expected; however, the engine failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a failure with the engine. The vehicle had not been repaired. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic where it was confirmed that the engine had failed, and the starter needed to be replaced. The starter had been replaced; however, while starting the vehicle the engine emitted a loud rumbling noise which the dealer described as rocks being tossed around. The contact stated that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,150.

Bought new, I drive over 20,000 miles every year. I have filled both the inside and top with lumber and other heavy items and it hasn't missed a beat. I have had no major problems after driving 83,000 miles. I would buy another one without hesitation when the time comes, and I highly recommend it to anyone.

The new Denali I just got rides smoothly and there are no problems with it. I could stop on a dime! I have washed, waxed, and detailed it every day, and it is great. I think everyone should have one.

When I first purchased the truck, I was a bit apprehensive about its size. It was a new experience for me to be so high up. I considered the Cadillac Escalade, but the high price tag made me hesitate. However, the Denali turned out to be the better buy, unless you're really hung up on the wreath and crest. It feels like traveling on your favorite couch, and even though the gas mileage isn't the greatest, it's worth every mile of what it cost.

So far, so good! The car handles well on the highway and the Bose sound system is great. The seats are comfortable, too. I'm looking forward to trying it out in the snow, since it got stuck last year. It's also perfect for long trips, as it puts the passengers to sleep.

Hi there! I just wanted to share that my 2000 Denali has been such a great truck for me. Even with 147k miles on it, it's still going strong and I absolutely love it! It's hands down the most comfortable truck I've ever owned. I'm a bit worried about what I'll do when it eventually needs to be retired. Thankfully, I've only had to do minor repairs on it, so it's been very reliable. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with an issue I'm having with the headlights. Does anyone know if it's possible to put bi-xenon lights in? And if so, where would be the best place to get them? Thanks so much for your help!

It may not be the fastest SUV out there, but it certainly makes up for it in comfort. The seats are incredibly comfortable and the ergonomics are top-notch. Plus, it's perfect for long drives on the highway, getting around 14 miles per gallon. Overall, a great choice for those who value comfort over speed.

The Toyota Sequoia has been a great ride, but there have been some issues with the heated seat on the driver's side and the brakes. However, these issues were promptly addressed and resolved by replacing the necessary parts. The vehicle's weight can put some strain on the brakes, but with regular servicing, this can be easily managed. Additionally, there appears to be a problem with the coolant system, but this can be easily fixed. While the 'barn door' configuration in the back may take some getting used to, it is a unique feature that adds to the vehicle's charm.

This is my second and last GMC. Unfortunately, I experienced some factory defects and found the quality and reliability to be lacking. If you're in the market for a new car, I would highly recommend considering a Toyota instead.
