Common Gmc W4500 problems
Common Problems with the GMC W4500 Based on Owner Complaints:
- Loose Wheel Bearing Hub Locking Bolts: In some GMC W4500 vehicles, the left rear wheel bearing hub locking bolts may not have been properly tightened during assembly. This issue can cause the wheel assembly to move outward from the axle housing, affecting the control of the vehicle and reducing braking performance, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
- Faulty Fire Extinguishers: Certain GMC W4500 vehicles equipped with certain Plastic-Handle Fire Extinguishers or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers may have issues with the extinguishers becoming clogged, preventing them from discharging as expected. In some cases, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. This issue can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire.
- Transmission System Problems: Many GMC W4500 Forward owners have reported problems with the transmission system, including harsh or delayed shifts, transmission slipping, and no response. These issues can significantly affect the vehicle's performance and require attention from a professional mechanic.
It is important to note that these common problems do not affect all GMC W4500 vehicles, and the frequency of occurrence may vary. If you are experiencing any of these issues, it is recommended to consult with a professional mechanic or contact the GMC dealership for further assistance.
