The vehicle debuted as the updated version of the Hyundai Genesis at the 2016 North American International Auto Show, followed by the 2016 Busan Motor Show. South Korean models went on sale in July 2016 with US models selling in September 2016 as a 2017 model year vehicle. Powertrains available included 3.8, 3.8 HTRAC, 5.0, and 5.0 HTRAC. The Russian market release in 2017 included a 2.0-liter Theta turbocharged engine that produced 180 kW (245 PS), eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.

G80 Sport

The Genesis G80 Sport (2017–2020) has a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 engine producing 272 kW (370 PS), features sport-styled bumpers, quad-exhaust tips, staggered nineteen-inch wheels, copper tint accent chrome, copper leather stitching and a mesh grille. The vehicle also comes standard with the Ultimate trim, technology package, heads-up display, panoramic sunroof, suede liner and Napa leather. The vehicle debuted at the 2016 Busan Motor Show, followed by the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, and the 2017 North American International Auto Show. US models were sold as 2018, 2019, 2020 model year vehicles.

Genesis has ceased all communication with myself and countless others, have not found a resolution and has directed us not to reach out to them again. They will not provide a rental car not any assistance and options. I want to speak with an Attorney. My daughter purchased this vehicle not even a year ago, paid cash for it and I only drove it less than 3 months. Genesis has billions I'm sure and they should not be able to get away with this.   • Consequence: An oil leak in the presence of hot engine components can increase the risk of an engine compartment fire.

Negative 2019 Genesis G80 car reviews

    When we first got this car, the dealer had some trouble getting the tires balanced and had the car for over a week deciding what to do with it. Finally, they replaced 3 tires, claiming the road force was too high on 3 of the 4 tires. It's unfortunate that they didn't replace all 4. The tires have always flat spotted badly, so the first 15 miles or so in lower temps were miserable. The flat spotting has caused the Michelins to wear poorly, which means a lot of road noise. I've had the tires rotated at each oil service, but they have cupped badly. The rear end whines from 45 mph down to about 25 when slowing down. The speed control loses 2-3 mph on a slight grade before catching a gear or two to get back up to speed. The adaptive cruise won't let you get within a couple of hundred feet of the car in front, which means cars are constantly cutting in front and slowing the car. Unfortunately, there's no sensitivity setting for the adaptive cruise, and you can't shut it off, so you're stuck with it. The front parking sensors work about every 10th time you drive the car, with no rhyme or reason as to why or when they will work. The technology on this car would be fine if you wanted some Korean dude telling you how to drive, but if you don't like it, you're stuck with it. Despite these issues, the G80 is a great looking car. It's unfortunate that I've had so many problems with it. I'm surprised that there are so many 5-star ratings. I guess I just ended up with a lemon. The dealer seemed somewhat put out when we had the tire issue early on, so with all the other problems, I figured it was a waste of time trying to get them fixed. I received a couple of quality surveys after I got the car, and when I addressed the issues I was having, the surveys stopped. It might explain why there are so many 5-star ratings. I can't wait to unload this car.

    The car has a lot of great features and a sporty look. However, I have experienced some issues with the front dash making noise and the cabin being too loud for my liking. Unfortunately, my local dealer has not been able to fix the problem despite multiple visits. While the service could be better, I understand that Genesis is still working to compete with other luxury car brands. Although the plastic dash does not meet luxury car standards, the car offers many features for the price. The seat piping, while attractive, can be uncomfortable during long rides. Overall, I paid 58k for this car and while I miss my previous Lexus dealer, I still appreciate the value that Genesis offers.

    I'm a serious buyer and have driven the E-class, A7, A8, and S90 (all 2018 models). In my opinion, the G80 is the best of them all. It's tighter, smoother, sportier yet comfortable, safer, and more reliable. The driving experience is much better than the others. The lane keeping could be a bit tighter, though. I highly recommend test driving the G80 before considering the Benz E-class or S90. You'll definitely see what I mean.

    I knew I was going to buy the G80 after driving it for just 20 feet, even before hitting the street. I was eager to take it for a test drive and I absolutely love the car. One of my favourite features is the hanger in the trunk that keeps my grocery bag in place on the way home from the store. No more cat food cans rolling around in the trunk! It's wonderful. After owning the car for a year, I can confidently say that I have no complaints about it. It gets between 16 and 17 MPG in the city on regular Octane 87 pump gas, which is impressive. The build quality is top-notch and I'm amazed at how much more expensive cars can be so poorly made. If I were to win the Powerball or Mega Millions, I would simply build a bigger garage for my Genesis. I wouldn't dream of replacing it!
