Common Genesis G80 problems
The Genesis G80 is a popular luxury midsize car, but it has not been known for its overall reliability and consistency, especially compared to other midsize cars. Despite these improvements, there are still common problems reported by Genesis G80 owners.
One common issue is broken brake pads, which can be dangerous and costly to repair. Brake pads are a crucial component of a car's braking system, and when they wear down or break, it can affect the vehicle's ability to stop effectively. This can lead to accidents and costly repairs.
Another common problem is broken spark plugs, which can cause a variety of issues, including reduced engine performance, increased fuel consumption, and difficulty starting the car. Spark plugs are responsible for igniting the fuel in the engine, and when they fail, it can cause significant problems with the car's performance.
Transmission problems are also a common issue with the Genesis G80, with some owners reporting issues with shifting, slipping, and jerking. Transmission problems can be caused by a variety of factors, including low fluid levels, worn-out gears, and faulty sensors. These issues can be costly to repair, and in some cases, may require a complete transmission replacement.
Stressing failures are another problem reported by Genesis G80 owners, although the specifics of this issue are not detailed in the search results. It is possible that stressing failures could refer to issues with the car's electrical system, which can be caused by a variety of factors, including worn-out wiring, blown fuses, and faulty sensors.
Forward collision-avoidance problems are also a concern for Genesis G80 owners, with some reporting issues with the car's collision-avoidance system. This system is designed to alert drivers to potential collisions and, in some cases, apply the brakes automatically to prevent or mitigate the impact. When it fails, it can increase the risk of accidents and collisions.
In addition to these common problems, some Genesis G80 owners have reported issues with the car's side mirrors, which may not actuate for reverse or collapse when locked. This can be a frustrating issue, especially for those who use the mirrors to park in tight spaces.
Another issue reported by some Genesis G80 owners is a battery that goes dead if the car is not started daily. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including a faulty battery, a problem with the car's electrical system, or a lack of use.
In conclusion, while the Genesis G80 has improved in reliability in recent years, there are still common problems reported by owners. These issues include broken brake pads, broken spark plugs, transmission problems, stressing failures, forward collision-avoidance problems, issues with the car's side mirrors, and a battery that goes dead if the car is not started daily. It is essential to be aware of these potential issues when purchasing a used Genesis G80 and to ensure that any necessary repairs are made promptly to avoid more significant problems down the line.

Do Genesis have engine problems?
Genesis is recalling 2019-2022 G70 sedans, 2018-2020 G80 sedans, and 2017-2022 G90 sedans equipped with 3.3-liter turbocharged V6 engines because an oil leak may develop and cause a fire. 28,349 vehicles are included in the vehicle. Earlier this month, Kia recalled some vehicles for the same issue with the same engine.
How long will a Genesis G80 last?
The Genesis G80 is capable of holding up well past the 100,000-mile mark and has been tested by independent organizations to confirm its durability. Critical systems in the G80 like the engine, transmission, and brakes tend to perform without major problems well into the tens of thousands of miles driven.
What are the issues in Genesis cars?
Hyundai is recalling more than 30,000 Genesis vehicles due to a potentially deadly crash hazard with certain models, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports. Federal safety regulators published the recall Tuesday after learning the fuel pump may fail, which can result in a loss of drive power.

I had a prior year Hyundai that has the same type of switch and was having the same issues reported. A TSB was issued for that vehicle to have the multifunction switch replaced. Seeing as how these vehicles are the same exact vehicles (just under a different brand name) and are having the same issues, I'm wondering if the Genesis should be covered under the same bulletin.

- Summary: Genesis issued the recall in mid-February and there is still not a remedy. We are supposed to park our auto outside and not in the garage. As we live in Florida and it is very hot and it is hurricane season, it is intolerably hot to park outside and, in the event of a hurricane or thunderstorm with hail, we cannot park outside without risking damage to our auto. It has been nearly five months since the recall which should be sufficient time for Genesis to have a solution to the problem. Also, they are not offering any compensation for the additional hardship due to having to park outside such as having to wash the car more frequently. I will also be contacting my congressman to followup with your agency.

The Genesis is truly the best car out there when it comes to quality, luxury, and service. I personally own the G80 and it surpasses any other car I have previously leased. The service is exceptional - they pick up my car, service it, detail it, and even fill up the tank with gas before dropping it off in my driveway. The car is equipped with self-driving technology, heated seats in the front and back, smart cruise, and is incredibly comfortable on long trips. It truly is a luxury car in every sense of the word. I absolutely love it!

I recently purchased a 2018 Genesis G80 and wanted to share my thoughts on it. While I had some issues with my previous 2016 Genesis, I was pleased to find that the 2018 model has most of the safety features that were previously optional, and it runs quietly without any transmission whine. The safety features, such as the Adaptive Speed Control and Blind Spot Monitoring, are impressive and have taken some getting used to. The Lane Assist feature works well in keeping you in your lane, but it can be a bit tricky when approaching an exit. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and would recommend the 2018 Genesis G80 to others. This feature is really helpful in reducing the need to turn your head to check the blind spot. However, old habits die hard and I still find myself turning to check the blind spot even when the indication on the mirror is clear. The Cross Traffic Monitor has already saved me from getting into an accident with someone who was in more of a hurry than me! The base model of this car comes with so many safety features that it would take me a long time to critique each one. Suffice it to say, they are all there for a reason and so far, they have all worked as designed. Kudos to Genesis for making them standard instead of optional. The exterior of the car has not changed much from the 2016 model and it is still a real head-turner. Mine is Casablanca White and it looks fantastic. I have received many compliments on the paint and car design. As for performance, I have the base 6 cylinder and it has more than enough power for my needs. The 6 cylinder is more than sufficient unless you plan on drag racing the car. The only minor complaints I have are about the gas mileage and the suspension. Hopefully, the gas mileage will improve after the engine break-in period. The suspension is a little stiffer than expected for a luxury car, but it's still comfortable enough. If I could, I would soften the ride a bit. The interior is on par with more expensive luxury cars. The seats are comfortable, the sound system is great, and the 8-inch display is a must-have item. The dash layout is excellent and all controls are easily reachable by the driver and positioned correctly. The A/C works as designed. I'm 6'2I'm not sure why some items on the car aren't covered for the full term warranty, but I'm happy to see that Genesis now offers different specific length extended warranties (such as a two year or five year warranty) to cover these items. I'm really glad I gave Genesis another chance; this car is a keeper!

2017 Genesis G80 Review: Hi there! I've been driving my G80 for over 2 weeks now and I just have to say, WOW! I absolutely love everything about it - the power, comfort, and tech features are all top-notch. After test driving most of the mid-size luxury cars over the past 2 months, I was completely surprised by the Genesis G80. Driving up and down the SF Bay Area has suddenly become so much more enjoyable, especially on 280! Everyone who's been in my G80 has been impressed by the plush interior, quality leather, and spacious back seats. I also really appreciate all the thoughtful features included in my G80, like the automatic vehicle hold which eases the stress of stop-and-go traffic, and the innovative hands-free trunk which opens automatically if it detects your smart key as being nearby for more than 3 seconds. Plus, the 10YR/100K Miles warranty and

I've been driving this car for a week now and I'm amazed by the difference. The 2017 Genesis brand came along with a Hyundai Genesis for 2017, but the 2018 G80 made by Genesis is the real deal because the quality and feel are just too different. I'm saying this because I had a 2016 Hyundai Genesis signature package. When I was testing the car, I think it might be underrated. It says 365hp/376lb-ft, but I'm getting around 5 and sub 5 0-60 runs, so I want to go dyno the car for curiosity's sake. However, my only complaint about this car is that there's no ambient lighting. Why? Just look at the E-Class interior and how beautiful it is (however cheap feeling it may be). Also, for those who will be driving in the city, beware. On the highway, I can get 30 mpg being careful on eco and realistically 25 mpg driving normally, but I drove about 150 miles so far of city only after filling up, and I have been getting around 10 mpg. You guys have been warned.

Hello! I upgraded from my original Hyundai Genesis with 3.8 to the 2018 3.3t two years ago and I couldn't be happier. The interior of the car is quite similar, but with the exception of nicer leather, alcantera headliner and carbon fiber inserts, it feels like a whole new level of luxury. The exterior is also a step up, with a nicer front end and wheel package that I personally love. However, the real difference is in the engine and handling, which takes this car to a whole new level compared to my 2015 Genesis. I've owned this car for two years now and it has been trouble-free. It's a fun adult car with good power, without the attention-seeking noise of most sport sedans. If you're in the market for a 4-5 seater for business, this car will be a bargain on the used market. Just make sure to regularly maintain it and you'll be saving money compared to your pals with MB, Audi and BMW’s. Say goodbye to the Germans, because the Koreans have arrived!

The car is absolutely gorgeous both inside and out! I can't help but love it, even though there's been a bit of trouble with the moonroof rattling. Despite four trips to the service center and countless hours lost, the rattling sounds have been mostly eliminated. It's a shame that I won't be able to keep it in the family for as long as I'd hoped, but overall it's still a very good car.

I purchased a new 2022 G80 in April and while it was a decent vehicle, I did experience a few issues. Living in the desert, I found that running the navigation caused the back of the display (facing the front windshield) to get very hot, to the point where I could burn my hand by touching it. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to verify this with the service department of the dealership I purchased the vehicle from, as they were difficult to reach. This was the biggest negative of owning the vehicle. I believe that if Genesis wants to be considered a luxury brand, their dealerships need to improve their customer service and treat their customers with the same level of care as other luxury brands such as BMW and Mercedes. This includes answering phones, responding to emails, having loaner vehicles available after being reserved, and greeting customers politely. Unfortunately, I was so fed up with the treatment by their service department that in November, I decided to trade in my G80 for a more established brand that understands the needs of their customer base.

In my experience, I found this car to be quite dangerous to drive due to its slow acceleration. When I needed to quickly accelerate, the car had a terrible lag/hesitation, which made it difficult to blend into traffic. I had to pump the pedal out of desperation, which took too long and nearly caused an accident. I contacted the nearest Genesis dealership, but they were unable to see me for two months. I had to travel outside my area to another Genesis dealer who checked the car and told me that the slow acceleration issue is normal. They suggested putting it in sport mode, but the problem persisted. I had to change the way I drove the car to avoid accidents. Additionally, I found the seat to be very hard and uncomfortable, and the car rode rough and stiff. The technology was not very intuitive, and I had to have the dealership tech expert explain how to use things. It comes with two owner's manuals an inch thick each, which can be overwhelming. Despite these issues, I appreciated the car's nice styling. Overall, I did not feel safe driving this car and believe that Genesis needs to address this problem. However, I appreciate the efforts of the dealership to help me with the issue.

When we first got this car, the dealer had some trouble getting the tires balanced and had the car for over a week deciding what to do with it. Finally, they replaced 3 tires, claiming that the road force was too high on 3 of the 4 tires. I was surprised that they didn't replace all 4. Unfortunately, the tires have always flat spotted badly, so the first 15 miles or so in lower temps were miserable. The flat spotting has caused the Michelins to wear poorly, which means a lot of road noise. I've had the tires rotated at each oil service, but they have cupped badly. The rear end whines from 45 mph down to about 25 when slowing down. The speed control loses 2-3 mph on a slight grade before catching a gear or two to get back up to speed. The adaptive cruise won't let you get within a couple of hundred feet of the car in front, which means cars are constantly cutting in front and slowing the car. Unfortunately, there's no sensitivity setting for the adaptive cruise, and you can't shut it off, so you're stuck with it. The front parking sensors work about every 10th time you drive the car, with no rhyme or reason as to why or when they will work. The technology on this car would be fine if you wanted some Korean dude telling you how to drive, but if you don't like it, you're stuck with it. Despite these issues, the G80 is a great looking car. However, it has been the most annoying car that I have ever owned. I was surprised to see so many 5-star ratings, but I guess I just ended up with a bad one. Although the dealer acted somewhat put out when we had the tire issue early on, I figured it was a waste of time trying to get them fixed with all the other problems. I received a couple of quality surveys after I got the car, but when I addressed the issues I was having, the surveys stopped. I can't wait to unload this car.

Despite its nice styling, I did not feel safe driving this car. In my opinion, Genesis needs to address this issue to compete with other luxury car makers.
