The Genesis G80 Sport (2017–2020) has a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 engine producing 272 kW (370 PS), features sport-styled bumpers, quad-exhaust tips, staggered nineteen-inch wheels, copper tint accent chrome, copper leather stitching and a mesh grille. The vehicle also comes standard with the Ultimate trim, technology package, heads-up display, panoramic sunroof, suede liner and Napa leather. The vehicle debuted at the 2016 Busan Motor Show, followed by the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, and the 2017 North American International Auto Show. US models were sold as 2018, 2019, 2020 model year vehicles.

- Summary: When driving at night and using the headlight switch's flash feature, the headlights go out completely when in AUTO mode. In manual mode, the headlights will be constantly on bright and will not allow the lights to dim. I took the car to the dealership and they confirmed what I was describing and said that the multifunction switch is faulty. I had a prior year Hyundai that has the same type of switch and was having the same issues reported. A TSB was issued for that vehicle to have the multifunction switch replaced. Seeing as how these vehicles are the same exact vehicles (just under a different brand name) and are having the same issues, I'm wondering if the Genesis should be covered under the same bulletin.

As we live in Florida and it is very hot and it is hurricane season, it is intolerably hot to park outside and, in the event of a hurricane or thunderstorm with hail, we cannot park outside without risking damage to our auto. It has been nearly five months since the recall which should be sufficient time for Genesis to have a solution to the problem. Also, they are not offering any compensation for the additional hardship due to having to park outside such as having to wash the car more frequently. Clear safety issue that has been documented by numerous other owners of the Genesis G80, and a known issue by Hyundai Motors / Genesis, as they will replace the Rack Mounted Motor-Driven Power Steering Assembly under the manufacturer's warranty. My vehicle is a few months out of warranty, with estimated repair cost of approximately $5k. This luxury sedan is truly exceptional! I found the driving experience to be thrilling, especially on the exhilarating roads of the Aspen, Colorado area. The heated seats work all the way to your shoulders, and the cooled seats are so efficient that you can keep the air conditioning toned down and thus cut cabin noise. The stereo system with 17 speakers is beautifully engineered to lull one with classic bass or blast your favorite rock, contributing to a wonderfully spoiled yet remarkably safe driving experience. My wife, who generally does not tolerate auto travel well due to troublesome arthritis, exclaims that she truly ENJOYS driving the G80 Sport and has NEVER felt so safe in any of our prior cars. The seats are comfortable and easily adjusted, and the controls and navigation system are well placed and very intuitive. The back seats are firm, comfortable, and very well heated. The overall comfort level is enhanced by the dark shades on three sides of the rear cabin. Finally, every electronic, safety, or comfort gadget, such as the trunk that opens by itself as you approach, seems to have been appreciated in the competition and included often in an improved version. All in all, at $56,000, this luxury sedan is an absolute steal and not to be missed before the prices approach a true supply-demand equilibrium!

I recently purchased a 2018 Genesis G80 and wanted to share my thoughts on it. While I had some issues with my previous 2016 Genesis, I was pleased to find that the 2018 model has most of the safety features that were previously optional, and it runs quietly without any transmission whine. The safety features, such as the Adaptive Speed Control and Blind Spot Monitoring, are impressive and have taken some getting used to. The Lane Assist feature works well in keeping you in your lane, but it can be a bit tricky when approaching an exit. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and would recommend the 2018 Genesis G80 to others.This feature is really helpful in reducing the need to turn your head to check the blind spot. However, old habits die hard and I still find myself turning to check the blind spot even when the indication on the mirror is clear. The Cross Traffic Monitor has already saved me from getting into an accident with someone who was in more of a hurry than me! The base model of this car comes with so many safety features that it would take me a long time to critique each one. Suffice it to say, they are all there for a reason and so far, they have all worked as designed. Kudos to Genesis for making them standard instead of optional. The exterior of the car has not changed much from the 2016 model and it is still a real head-turner. Mine is Casablanca White and it looks fantastic. I have received many compliments on the paint and car design. As for performance, I have the base 6 cylinder and it has more than enough power for my needs. The 6 cylinder is more than sufficient unless you plan on drag racing the car. The only minor complaints I have are about the gas mileage and the suspension. Hopefully, the gas mileage will improve after the engine break-in period. The suspension is a little stiffer than expected for a luxury car, but it's still comfortable enough. If I could, I would soften the ride a bit. The interior is on par with more expensive luxury cars. The seats are comfortable, the sound system is great, and the 8-inch display is a must-have item. The dash layout is excellent and all controls are easily reachable by the driver and positioned correctly. The A/C works as designed. I'm 6'2I'm not sure why some items on the car aren't covered for the full term warranty, but I'm happy to see that Genesis now offers different specific length extended warranties (such as a two year or five year warranty) to cover these items. I'm really glad I gave Genesis another chance; this car is a keeper!

I was comparing this car to the Lexus ES and Toyota Avalon, but I found a much better deal with the pricing and incentives on the G80. I've only had it for a short while, but I'm extremely impressed with all the features on the car. Like another reviewer, I wish the rear seats folded down, and it would be nice to have ventilated front seats, but maybe that would be too greedy. The fit, finish, and comfort are excellent. I had a blurb when the battery died while the car sat in my garage. The dealer found no problem and tested the battery over 24 hours. They suggested locking the car even in the garage (which I rarely did afterwards) to limit draws by some of the sensors. This happened a second time, and again, the service did not find the cause. This is my first lease, and I may purchase it at lease end, although I'm a bit peeved about that power loss issue.

After conducting extensive research, I confidently chose this car and it has exceeded my expectations. As a tall individual, I appreciate the ample space provided for my 6'3 frame. I meticulously measured the noise and ride quality of seven different cars, and this one ranked third, only behind the G90 and BMW 7. Since driving this car for three weeks, I have not experienced any discomfort or back pain. In fact, I have surpassed the estimated mpg (29.5) by a significant margin, achieving this in just 2100 miles. The 4-cylinder engine performs exceptionally well, feeling more like a V6. While I do have one minor complaint about the lack of an ergo motion seat for the passenger, overall I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.

It comes packed with tons of gadgets and features that enhance the driving experience. The power and acceleration are great too. What's more, the car includes 3 years of maintenance and 3 years of connected services. In my opinion, Lexus is falling behind, and Genesis is pulling out all the stops to gain a customer base. If you're looking for a new car, now is the best time to get one of these amazing vehicles.

A message appeared on the navi screen, indicating that a fault had been detected and that the car should be serviced immediately. I took it back to the dealer, who informed me that they were consulting with Hyundai technicians to determine the problem. They later informed me that it was a fuel injection problem and that a new one had been ordered. I received a call from the district parts and service manager for Hyundai, who informed me that he and a Hyundai engineer were coming to Florida to diagnose the problem with my car. Although there seemed to be some miscommunication between the dealer and Hyundai, the dealer service department called me to inform me that the vehicle was fixed and running fine. They politely requested that they keep it for another 6 days so that the engineers from Hyundai could diagnose it. I am still waiting for my car to be returned, which is now scheduled for 03/29.

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my new 2021 black Genesis G80 that I purchased in February. I haven't put too many miles on it, as I only have 5200 miles on it as of mid-November. Unfortunately, I had an issue while driving on the highway at 65 MPH where the emergency braking came on, locked the steering wheel, and started to swerve on its own. It was definitely a scary experience, but I took it into the local Genesis dealer where I had purchased it. They kept it for 5 days and stated they could not replicate the issue. I took it on a 300-mile vacation and it worked fine on the way to our destination, but on the way back, the incident happened 2 more times. I called the dealership and they asked that I bring it in again. I did, and now 3 days later, they state they cannot replicate the issue and have to go to Genesis engineering to ask if there are more cases of this. I have also serviced the vehicle at 3750 miles. When I purchased the car, I was offered a loaner and pick-up service for any service needs. Unfortunately, no one has been available to pick up the car or bring a loaner. Actually, no loaner has ever been available. I am still waiting to see if it can be fixed, and if not, I will be applying under the lemon law as the car is unsafe for driving. All the incidents happened while I was driving roughly 65 MPH, going straight, and not close to another car. Overall, I am disappointed with the service I have received. I have had a few Sonatas in the past, and they have all been fine. This is my second Genesis, and I was hoping for a better experience. Thank you for listening to my story.

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my 2018 g80 sport with AWD. Unfortunately, my dealer closed about 6 months after I bought the car and there isn't another one within 60 miles. While I have valet pick up service, the nearest service dealer only has Hyundai's as loaners and they don't know how to service the G80. In fact, my tire pressure light was on when they drove it back to me after an oil change and the tech didn't know the correct tire pressure! I've also been waiting over 4 weeks now to hear back from Genesis regarding these issues. I believe that the service I've received is not up to par with what I would expect from a middle class sedan, let alone Mercedes or BMW. Thank you for listening to my experience.

I had initially given my Genesis G80 a 5-star review when I traded in my Cadillac for it. However, after owning it for 3 years and selling it, I updated my review. Although I only had 6,000 miles on it, I decided to trade it in for a GM car due to some issues I faced and the lack of response from Genesis. I faced problems with Sirius/XM and the head unit, which seemed to be a common issue as per the Genesis Owners Forum. Unfortunately, Genesis was of no help in resolving the issue. Additionally, I faced issues with Apple CarPlay and Genesis Connected Services. I was disappointed to learn that Connected Services would no longer work after December 2022 due to the 3G modem in my 2019 G80, which cannot be upgraded. On the other hand, my 2018 GMC Sierra did not face this issue as GM had been preparing for the 3G issue since 2016. Although there were other reasons for my decision to move back to GM, I am happy with my Denali as everything works as it should, including self-parking. While I may not consider buying another Genesis, I appreciate the experience and hope that they can improve their technology and customer service in the future.

I recently purchased the Genesis G80 with the premium package and I must say, it's a beautifully styled car that performs exceptionally well. The luxurious cabin is incredibly comfortable and quiet, making for a truly enjoyable driving experience. What's even better is that this car costs thousands less than its competitors' equivalent vehicles. If you're looking for a car that offers great value for money, the Genesis G80 is definitely worth considering. However, if you're solely focused on the brand name, then this car may not be for you. It's important to look beyond the nameplate and consider the car's features and performance. I test drove the Audi A6 and Lexus GS 350, but ultimately, the Genesis G80 won me over. The G80 sport model, with its 6 cylinder twin turbo and 365 horses, is a beast on the road. However, I opted for the G80 with premium package, which still boasts a respectable 311 horses and a smooth ride. During my test drive, I found the pick up to be more than acceptable with good passing ability, even on bumpy roads with potholes. Overall, I highly recommend the Genesis G80 for anyone looking for a stylish, comfortable, and high-performing car that won't break the bank.The G80 was an absolute pleasure to drive. Despite the uneven pavement, I barely felt any bumps or jarring, which made for a smooth and comfortable ride. The cabin was impressively quiet, with minimal road noise or wind, and the engine was so quiet at times that I wasn't even sure it was running. While there was slightly more body lean when taking curves at higher speeds compared to the A6 or GS350, it was nothing significant. Additionally, putting the car into 'sport' mode tightened up the steering and suspension, which greatly improved the driving experience. The G80 also boasts a spacious and luxurious cabin, complete with loads of technology and safety features that other brands often charge extra for. Despite minor differences in performance compared to its competitors, the G80's price point was unbeatable - $4,000 - $10,000 less than the competition. Genesis is truly doing everything right to establish itself as a viable luxury brand, even offering a 3-year concierge service that includes loaner cars for servicing. Overall, I highly recommend the G80 for anyone in the market for a luxurious and reliable vehicle.
