2009 Ford Escape hybrid problems
The Ford Escape is a compact crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Ford Motor Company since the 2001 model year. The first Ford SUV derived from a car platform, the Escape fell below the Ford Explorer in size; the Escape is currently sized between the Ford EcoSport and Ford Edge. The 2004 Ford Escape Hybrid was the first hybrid-electric vehicle from Ford, and the first hybrid produced as an SUV.
The first two generations of the Escape used the Ford CD2 platform (jointly developed with Mazda), leading to the release of the Mazda Tribute and Mercury Mariner; as with the Escape, both the Tribute and Mariner were marketed in North America. In Europe, the Escape was initially branded as the Ford Maverick from 2001 to 2008 (replacing a Nissan-produced SUV).
Under the mid-2000s "One Ford" globalization strategy, the third and fourth-generation designs of the Escape have been unified with the Ford Kuga, designed by Ford of Europe. Sharing a common body and chassis underpinnings (and several engines), the Escape and Kuga are manufactured in their home markets. As with previous generations, the fourth-generation Escape is offered with gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options. Outside of North America, the Ford Escape is marketed in Australia, China, and Taiwan.

I've been the proud owner of the FEH for about 4 months now and have driven over 7000 miles. I must say, the FEH has exceeded my expectations! Although, I have noticed a drop in mileage during the cold Wisconsin winter, which is to be expected with any vehicle. Nonetheless, the excitement of driving the 09 FEH is unmatched. The AWD kicks in seamlessly without any change in how the ride feels, and the vehicle handles great overall. Even my wife, who drives a Civic, loves to drive it and finds the car to be a decent size.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with this vehicle. I ordered it back in June of '08 and picked it up in October. Let me tell you, it's been a blast to drive! Once you learn how to coax the electric drive into action, it's really something special. One of my favourite things about this car is how it can sneak up on people in electric mode and turn heads as you drive past them at 30-40 mph. It's so quiet! So far, I haven't had any reliability issues and the car delivers the promised mileage. The features that I got on this vehicle have all been very satisfactory and helpful, especially the Nav system, step bars, and cargo rack bars. However, I will say that the interior design is a bit clunky. Overall, though, I'm really happy with my purchase!

I've been driving my FEH for 4 months now and I absolutely love it! It has made my daily commutes in traffic so much better. The sync system, hands-free phoning, and satellite radio are all awesome features. I've been getting about 36 mpg, which is fantastic. It's also quite fun to try and keep the tach in the green (battery mode) while driving, although it does take a little practice to get good at it. Sometimes I even find myself hoping traffic will slow down so I can recharge! On the downside, I have had to take it back to the dealership for two different repairs, but overall I am still extremely happy with my purchase. I would definitely recommend the FEH to anyone (as long as it's still under warranty). It's a great vehicle!

I recently received my 09 Escape Hybrid in November after ordering it in June. The interior is stunning, especially with the beautiful light blue hue. I'm impressed with the car's features, including Sync, which allows me to listen to Howard Stern on Sirius in the mornings. I commute 31 miles each way to Queens for work, and I've only driven 200 miles so far, but the gas gauge is only showing half a tank, which is impressive. Although the car looks slightly bigger than my previous 05 EH, the flattened hood gives it a wider appearance. The acceleration is better, and I can even go electric at 40mph or lower.

I've had the car for almost three years and while I'm disappointed with the mileage numbers, I still appreciate its features. During colder weather, the MPG drops to 14 or 15, which is similar to what some of my friends with Toyota Priuses have experienced. Even in normal temperatures and highway driving, the best mileage I've ever gotten out of the car is 27 MPG. Looking back, I might have preferred a non-hybrid car that would have cost me less. Overall, I still enjoy driving my car and appreciate its unique features.
