The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is a light commercial vehicle (van) built by Mercedes-Benz Group AG of Stuttgart, Germany as a large van, chassis cab, minibus, and pickup truck. In the past, the Sprinter had been sold under the Mercedes-Benz, Dodge, and Freightliner nameplates. In the U.S., it was built from complete knock down (CKD) kits by Freightliner. First generation (1995–2006, T1N)
Europe
The first generation Sprinter was launched in Europe in 1995 to replace the famous but outdated T1 Transporter van dating from 1977. Compared to the T1, the Sprinter had reduced the aerodynamic drag and moved the engine 290 mm (11 in) further forward to increase cabin space. It was the first Mercedes-Benz product to carry a name rather than an alphanumeric designation. It was released with four-wheel disc brakes equipped with an antilock braking system and was driven by the most powerful diesel engine in its class, with a power output of 90 kW (120 hp). The Sprinter was voted International Van of the Year for 1995.
The styling was updated in 2000 and 2002, accompanied by technical changes that included standard electronic stability control (2002).

- Summary: I have received a letter from the FCA US LLC regarding recalls for both airbags. I have called 3-4 times requesting this service. Because the van is technically a dodge (although made by mercedes, back in 2007) there is no Dodge dealerships that will agree to service the vehicle. The chrysler/dodge dealerships don't service sprinters, as they haven't been rebranded by dodge since 2007, and the mercedes dealerships either don't have access to the Dodge recall system, or are unwilling to assist, as they are not affiliated with the recall. I called 1800- 992-1997, to speak with chrysler, (Case # [XXX]) and spent another 42 minutes on the phone yesterday, still unable to find a solution. They called another handful of dealerships, seemingly not believing that Dodge dealerships would be unwilling to service a dodge sprinter. They stated that I could probably bring it to mercedes sprinter and have the work done, and then apply for reimbursement, although they would not guarantee me in writing that they would cover the expense. I have been working on a solution for probably close to the last 6 months. HOWEVER THE WIRING HARNESS CONTINUED TO WEAR DOWN AND THE WIPER MOTOR ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT HAS COMPLETELY SHORTED OUT.

Your peripheral vision will be excellent in this van, which can seat up to 10 people and boasts an unbelievable fuel mileage of 28mpg. The low end torque is sufficient and it drives exceptionally well on the highway. We even installed a rear lift for my handicapped sister and removed the 2 seat row to move the rear set of 3 seats up, allowing us to transport my sister and 8 additional passengers. Although the side door's first step may be a little high for elderly and children, overall it is an excellent vehicle. The diesel engine runs silky smooth and quiet, and the interior room is fantastic. I've found it to be easy on fuel, getting around 19MPG combined. I've used it for so many things, from bringing home a side-by-side refrigerator to remodeling my home, moving, taking my children to school, and driving to work every day. It still turns heads in parking lots and I've even been through all my bank's drive-throughs with it. The only negatives I've found are that the passenger seats don't recline and aren't very comfortable. At 11000 miles, I had to take it to the shop once for front rotors and a backup horn that failed, and the oil change cost $175. Despite these minor issues, I still absolutely love it and hope it lasts for 30 years!
