Dodge Sprinter problems
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is a light commercial vehicle (van) built by Mercedes-Benz Group AG of Stuttgart, Germany as a large van, chassis cab, minibus, and pickup truck. In the past, the Sprinter had been sold under the Mercedes-Benz, Dodge, and Freightliner nameplates. In the U.S., it was built from complete knock down (CKD) kits by Freightliner. Re-badged and re-engined Sprinters were also sold by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles as the Volkswagen LT and the Volkswagen Crafter. They are now primarily marketed by Mercedes-Benz.
In the Mercedes-Benz van lineup, the Sprinter is the largest model offered, followed by the mid-size Vito (aka Viano, V-Class, and EQV) and small Citan.
First generation (1995–2006, T1N)
Europe
The first generation Sprinter was launched in Europe in 1995 to replace the famous but outdated T1 Transporter van dating from 1977. Compared to the T1, the Sprinter had reduced the aerodynamic drag and moved the engine 290 mm (11 in) further forward to increase cabin space. It was the first Mercedes-Benz product to carry a name rather than an alphanumeric designation. It was released with four-wheel disc brakes equipped with an antilock braking system and was driven by the most powerful diesel engine in its class, with a power output of 90 kW (120 hp). The Sprinter was voted International Van of the Year for 1995.
The styling was updated in 2000 and 2002, accompanied by technical changes that included standard electronic stability control (2002).

Dodge Sprinter 2007
- Date Of Incident: 2023-01-01
- Date Complaint: 2023-07-30
- VIN: WD8PE746175
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: I have received a letter from the FCA US LLC regarding recalls for both airbags. I have called 3-4 times requesting this service. Because the van is technically a dodge (although made by mercedes, back in 2007) there is no Dodge dealerships that will agree to service the vehicle. The chrysler/dodge dealerships don't service sprinters, as they haven't been rebranded by dodge since 2007, and the mercedes dealerships either don't have access to the Dodge recall system, or are unwilling to assist, as they are not affiliated with the recall. I called 1800- 992-1997, to speak with chrysler, (Case # [XXX]) and spent another 42 minutes on the phone yesterday, still unable to find a solution. They called another handful of dealerships, seemingly not believing that Dodge dealerships would be unwilling to service a dodge sprinter. They stated that I could probably bring it to mercedes sprinter and have the work done, and then apply for reimbursement, although they would not guarantee me in writing that they would cover the expense. I have been working on a solution for probably close to the last 6 months. I have recently been forced to drive this vehicle daily, which makes me more concerned, as my children are frequently inside. “INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).”

Vehicle year: 2004
This van is amazing! It's the nicest one I've ever owned. I've had 4 conversion vans before, but this plain passenger van is the best. It's so comfortable for long distance trips, and the mileage is great at 21-22. It's also super dependable and durable. Although there was a slight issue with the paint job, I've talked to other Sprinter owners and it seems to be an exception. Just a heads up, the '07s don't get the best mpg's, only about 16.

Vehicle year: 2004
Not only is this a great van for my construction business, but it's also a fantastic advertising tool since I'm the only one in my market with one! It's been working flawlessly so far and with 23+ MPG, it's much more cost-effective than a pickup truck outfitted for tools. I've turned it into my 'advervan' and business has picked up even in this down economy.

Vehicle year: 2004
I picked up the vehicle in Arkansas and drove it all the way home to NC. The Sprinter was just too inviting to cruise at 82MPH (the preset limit). With a new engine, I was able to average about 20-21MPG and I expect that to increase with seasoning. My family absolutely loves it! It's big enough to fit all the kids, their friends, strollers, and more, making all the soccer moms drool. You can easily spot the Sprinter anywhere, be it in parking lots, on the highway, in a field of SUVs, or on city streets. If you're planning to buy one for non-commercial use, be prepared to answer many questions from inquiring minds. But don't worry, the questions are a whole lot better than rants and protests you'd get if this were a gas-guzzling SUV of equal proportion. It's perfect for biodiesel after the warranty expires.

Vehicle year: 2004
The Sprinter is a joy to drive, comfortable, and incredibly versatile. As someone who travels across the US at least four times a year for business, I can attest to its reliability and handling both on the freeway and in town. Despite its appearance, the Sprinter is not top-heavy and can handle heavy loads with ease. Whether I'm transporting friends, family, or luggage, the Sprinter lives up to its name. However, when I do occasionally load it up with building supplies and concrete sacks, I have noticed a slight decrease in power.

Vehicle year: 2004
Not much experience yet, but the more I drive it, the more I like it. It's a big van with enough power and the economy of a small sedan.

Vehicle year: 2007
Hi there! I wanted to share that I purchased my Sprinter 2007 new 2500 v/6 diesel back in May 2007. I'm happy to report that my average mileage is around 18, which is pretty good! When I first got it, it was around 16 1/2, but it's improved since then. I've been using it both in town and on the highway.

Vehicle year: 2004
The vehicle has had several issues, including transmission leaks, transponder issues, turn signal issues, engine trouble lights, surface rust, AC pulley falling off, O2 sensor failures, and more. Despite the challenges, I have been able to address them by driving to the nearest Dodge dealership, which is located halfway across the state. Although some of these issues have not been covered under warranty, I have been fortunate enough to have an extended warranty that has helped me cover the costs. While I have come across similar issues on online forums, I have found that the dealership has been able to address them effectively.

Vehicle year: 2004
I purchased a 2004 Dodge Sprinter brand new in 2006 with only 500 miles on it. Unfortunately, this vehicle has been quite unreliable and has required frequent repairs. I have had to replace the front AC unit condenser, two alternators, the driveshaft carrier bearing, and the driveshaft itself. There is also a vibration in the driveline that I have not been able to locate, and now there is a noise coming from the rear end or wheel bearing. Despite having driven it for 130K miles, I am disappointed that I have not been able to reach my goal of 250K miles due to the high maintenance costs. Interestingly, I heard that UPS crushed their Sprinters at 120K miles due to maintenance and downtime.
