1994 Dodge Ram van problems

The Dodge Ram Van (also known as the Dodge B-series) is a range of full-size vans that were produced by Chrysler Corporation from the 1971 to 2003 model years. Replacing the Dodge A100, the Ram Van transitioned to a front-engine drivetrain configuration. Mostly offered as a cargo van and a passenger van, the model line was also initially offered as a cutaway van chassis.
The B-series van line was produced across 32 years of production, making it among the longest-lived platform designs in American automotive history. Much of the exterior and chassis underpinnings saw only gradual changes during their entire production, with three distinct generations developed. Alongside its use by Dodge, the full-size van range saw rebranding during the 1970s for both Fargo Trucks and Plymouth (marking the debut of the Plymouth Voyager nameplate).
For much of its entire production run, Chrysler produced B-platform vans at the now-demolished Pillette Road Truck Assembly plant in Windsor, Ontario, Canada; prior to 1980, the model line was also produced at Saint Louis North Assembly (Fenton, Missouri). In 2003, the Dodge Sprinter (a rebranding of its Mercedes-Benz namesake) was introduced, replacing the B-series van entirely from 2004 to 2009. Since 2014, the Ram division has offered the ProMaster to the full-size van market, a rebranded Fiat Ducato.

I bought this vehicle brand new in 1994 and have put 220,000 miles on it. It still runs great and I have never had any problems with the A/C or engine. The transmission was rebuilt at 175,000 miles. Although it burns oil now, I have changed hoses, belts, water pump, transmission lines, batteries, and lots of tires. The acceleration is slow, especially with the A/C on, but Molly is a great vehicle for trips. She has become a member of the family and even has a name! My teenagers may not think she's cool, but I love Molly! The upholstery and carpet are in exceptional condition considering her age.

I love this van! As someone who has owned large vans since the age of 18, I can say that this 1987 passenger van is reliable, dependable, and safe. It's practical and has a million uses for pleasure, business, and family. These truck-based, rear-wheel-drive vans have a solid live axle and offer excellent towing capacity while still having plenty of room for people and/or cargo. Plus, they have excellent headroom and legroom. Don't worry about parking either - I personally have no problems parking this van in tight spaces. And if you need a little extra help, convex mirrors can really come in handy!

I bought a 1992 B-150 from an autoparts store in May 2003. With 186,000 original miles, I decided to take my world-renowned Dodge 318 on a cross-country road trip (and back)! Despite blowing a fuel pump in Colorado, my trusty van never let me down. LONG LIVE THE DODGE 318, AND MY SHADY VAN!!!

This van is very reliable. I can't say enough about it!

Since I have had it (five months and counting) I have put 9000 miles on it and have not had one new problem. I did have a problem with it dying at every stoplight since I bought it, but it was nothing a good carburetor cleaning didn't fix. It rides superbly, surprisingly quick, and gas mileage is nothing to jump up and down about but could be worse. All in all, I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

I purchased my B250 about 4 years ago for a great price, but unfortunately, the gas mileage was not the best. On good days, I could only get about 11-14 mpg. Although I had a few breakdowns in the 4 years I owned it, the core engine and transmission were great. It was the smaller components that seemed to fail. Despite these issues, it always fired up when those parts worked, and the engine never burned oil, and the transmission never slipped. Overall, it was a reliable vehicle in its day. I no longer own it, but I can share that the voltage regulator went out, which is a common problem with these vans. I was able to fix it by wiring a separate regulator outside of the ECU and bypassing it. Although this caused the check engine light to always be on, the problem was fixed. I decided to sell it due to the high cost of gas at the time, but it was a great vehicle while I had it.In my experience, the core of the engine has proven to be quite reliable. It never smoked, burned oil, ticked, or knocked, and always fired up even on the coldest mornings. However, I did have some trouble with the electronic components, which made things a bit difficult for me. Towards the end, I managed to fix most of the issues, so whoever bought my van probably got a good deal. If you're considering purchasing a similar vehicle, I would recommend asking the seller about any work that has been done on it to ensure its reliability.

Hey there! This vehicle is a Dodge Ram 250 conversion van with a high top and all the extras, including power steering, brakes, windows, and power locks.

I repurposed a delivery truck to haul my race bike. Although the 318ci engine is worn and not very powerful, it still runs smoothly and burns no oil. The fuel gauge, odometer, and oil pressure have all malfunctioned, but I was able to replace them with a used cluster. The 3spd auto with OD can be a bit unresponsive, but it still gets the job done. The van has zero rust and passes California smog, which is great. However, there is a lot of wind noise due to poorly fitting windows and driver door seal. Additionally, the small mirrors make city driving a bit challenging. Lately, I've had to replace some bushings, but that's to be expected given its age.

We have a 3/4 ton van with the 318 engine, which has been great. However, we have had some issues with the transmission, fuel system, and even the odometer, which have all quit on us. Additionally, the van tends to get quite hot, which can be uncomfortable. Despite these challenges, we still appreciate the van's reliability and utility.

Congratulations on passing the smog test in Los Angeles with 230000 miles! The 5.2 liter engine is both powerful and reliable, which is great to hear.
