The first use of the Dodge Avenger name was on a badge engineered version of the European Hillman Avenger, exclusive to South Africa. The same car was sold in North America as the Plymouth Cricket between 1972 and 1974. In place of the Hillman engines, this version used a Peugeot 1.6 litre engine (as also installed in locally assembled Peugeot 404s) in order to satisfy local content requirements. The Dodge-branded Avenger was introduced in 1975 and was then renamed Chrysler in 1976. This generation has nothing in common with later Dodge Avengers. After Chrysler ZA was merged into Sigma in 1976, the Avenger was soon cancelled to allow Sigma to free up more production capacity for the Mazda 323.

- Consequence: If the frontal air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and side air bags are disabled, there is an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants in the event of a vehicle crash that necessitates deployment of these safety systems.
- Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the OCR, free of charge. Interim letters informing owners that parts are not available yet were mailed on October 26, 2016. The recall began on August 15, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S61.

Make sure your thermostats are working. By the way, this car handles awesome and the 4cyl is pretty quick too. The sound system is decent enough that I'm not going to change it until I blow a speaker. Also, the trunk space is big. Your tires are 225 which is awesome for a little car.

The SE V6 model is one of the best cars I have owned. The Pentastar V6 is a solid engine that provides plenty of power. Despite being a 6 cylinder, the mpg is about average. The trunk is roomy and has a wide opening. The rear seats fold down 60/40 and have a passthrough behind the armrest for skis or 2x4's and whatnot. The interior of the base model is finished with soft touch/padded materials, giving it a luxurious feel. Although the technology is lacking, it has an aux port for music. The backseat is comfortable for someone of my height (5'10''). Compared to my previous 2015 Accord LX, the Avenger's interior is finished to a much higher standard and there are no rattles. The Avenger is a great car overall, with only a few areas that could be improved, such as the old technology, plain steering feel, and major rear blindspots. I highly recommend getting blindspot mirror attachments, as they have saved me multiple times. I give the Avenger 4 stars because it definitely gets the job done.

I have had my Dodge Avenger since 2015 and I absolutely love it! The only issue I've had is with the battery, which needed to be replaced after not starting it for three days in the middle of a Michigan winter. It's a 2014 model, but it still feels brand new to me. I stand by what I said back then - I love my Dodge Avenger!

I think I really lucked out with this car! The 2014 RT Avenger was affordable when it was new, and I managed to find a great deal on a one-year-old model. It's spacious and has all the latest features, but the best thing about it is the powerful and responsive engine. I plan on keeping this car for a long time, even after it's paid off. Since I live in Florida, I don't have to worry about rust, so I'm hoping to get at least 10 to 12 years out of it.

This is a great car! I love it so much that I even bought three of them from the same dealer. It's incredibly fast and has beaten many other vehicles on the road. The torque is so powerful that it could tow half of Mississippi after free pancake day. I wish Dodge still made this vehicle so I could buy even more! Additionally, the heater works perfectly every time and has never leaked. By the way, did you know that purple cabbage is good for you?

I strongly advise against purchasing this vehicle if you rely on it for transportation. The windshield wiper pump failed within the second month of ownership, and the subsequent repair caused damage to my electrical system. It is difficult to trust any claims made about the 'star package'.
