2014 Dodge Avenger problems

The Dodge Avenger is a front-wheel drive, mid-sized sedan that was marketed by Dodge. The Avenger made its North American debut in 1994 for the 1995 model year as a coupe that was produced until 2000. The model name was reintroduced to the market as a four-door sports sedan starting in 2007 for the 2008 model year. The Dodge Avenger name had earlier been used on South African market Hillman Avengers in 1975 and 1976.
The 2014 model year marked the end of Avenger production as the mid-sized models for both the Dodge and Chrysler brands were consolidated into the new Chrysler 200 introduced for the 2015 model year while Dodge received the new compact Dart.
Nameplate history
The first use of the Dodge Avenger name was on a badge engineered version of the European Hillman Avenger, exclusive to South Africa. The same car was sold in North America as the Plymouth Cricket between 1972 and 1974. In place of the Hillman engines, this version used a Peugeot 1.6 litre engine (as also installed in locally assembled Peugeot 404s) in order to satisfy local content requirements. The Dodge-branded Avenger was introduced in 1975 and was then renamed Chrysler in 1976. This generation has nothing in common with later Dodge Avengers. After Chrysler ZA was merged into Sigma in 1976, the Avenger was soon cancelled to allow Sigma to free up more production capacity for the Mazda 323.

Common 2014 Dodge Avenger problems
The Dodge Avenger, produced from 1995 to 2014, has been a popular choice among car enthusiasts and everyday drivers alike due to its smooth ride quality and affordable price point. However, it has also been criticized for its poor performance, handling, and interior refinement. When it comes to the 2014 Dodge Avenger, there are a few common problems that owners have reported.
One of the more prominent issues with the 2014 Dodge Avenger is squeaky brakes. This issue isn't as severe as some other problems, but it can be quite annoying for owners. Some 2014 Dodge Avenger owners have taken their vehicles to the mechanic or dealership, hoping for a solution, but often find that nothing can be done about the squeaky brakes, as they're supposedly a characteristic of the vehicles themselves. Some have replaced their brakes, but the noise tends to return.
Another significant problem with the 2014 Dodge Avenger is engine stalling. This issue can be dangerous, especially if it occurs while driving at high speeds or on the highway. The reasons for engine stalling in the 2014 Avenger can vary, including faulty Totally Integrated Power Modules (TIPMs) or throttle bodies that need to be replaced. Repair costs for this problem depend on the root cause. For instance, fixing or replacing a faulty throttle body in a 2008 Avenger costs around $300, while replacing the TIPM in a 2012 model can cost at least $1,000. Owners have reported that their vehicles suddenly become unresponsive and die, sometimes while coming to a stop or going over a certain speed. Those with TIPM issues have also reported that the lights on their vehicles flash on and off.
The 2014 Dodge Avenger also shares some common problems with other model years. For example, the anti-theft system in some 2008-2014 Dodge Avengers may prevent the vehicle from starting properly due to electrostatic discharge. This issue can cause wires to short-circuit, potentially leading to engine fires. Dodge issued a recall in November 2007 to inspect the connectors and assess necessary repairs.
In summary, the 2014 Dodge Avenger has several common problems, including squeaky brakes and engine stalling. These issues can be annoying, dangerous, and potentially expensive to fix. It is essential for owners to address these problems promptly to ensure the safety and longevity of their vehicles.

Hey there! If you're looking for a great deal on a car, this one might be perfect for you! We got ours for $16K with some awesome incentives and a great trade-in price. It's a really good-looking car that's fun to drive and gets some great comments. The 2.4L engine is perfect for everyday driving, but if you want some super acceleration, you might want to opt for the V-6 with 283HP. The SE exterior looks super sharp with some chrome tweeking, and the interior is both great-looking and functional. Plus, the trunk has plenty of room! The handling and ride are superb on this model, and even better on the more expensive models. Overall, this car is a great choice that the average family can afford. Let me know if you have any questions!

I recently traded my 2013 Dodge Dart turbo manual for a 2014 Avenger with the 3.6 Pentastar. I wanted an automatic again and the incentives were high, so it seemed like the best move for me. Despite reading so-so reviews about the Avenger over the years, I decided to take a chance on it because of the V6 power and extra styling Bling. (I did not get the R/T, but this site did not list the SE version with all the add-ons I got). I have to say, I am absolutely thrilled with my new car! It is super comfortable, has capable handling, and doesn't look like every other Asian cookie cutter sedan on the market these days. And the best part? It has POWER TO SPARE. The 3.6 Pentastar is truly a best kept secret! I couldn't be happier with my purchase!

Fast, fun, and a delight to drive!

This car is a great value for the price. While it may not be loaded with fancy features, it reliably gets us from point A to point B without any issues. We purchased it new in 2013 and have put 45k miles on it with no major problems. It's comfortable for our needs and seems to be holding up well. Although the back seat is a bit small and uncomfortable, we don't use it often. Recently, we replaced the front and rear brakes and got new tires, so we're good to go! The only minor issue we had was with the power mirror switch, which went out at around 40k miles, but it was inexpensive and easy to replace.

The SE model you recently purchased is a great car! You love the sporty look, and it rides and runs well mechanically. Although the radio is a basic stereo for this vehicle and there are no rear view camera, navigation or touch screen options, you're thinking about upgrading just for the rear view assistance. The windows aren't as wide as what you're used to in an SUV, but all in all, you're pleased!

I have owned over 25 cars in my life, including 5 new ones. Unfortunately, this latest purchase has not lived up to my expectations. Within 5,000 miles of ownership, the car began to overheat and an orange grime appeared in the overflow tank. Despite taking it to the dealership, the issue was not fully resolved. Additionally, the cruise control would sometimes refuse to turn on, and the fit and finish of the car was mediocre at best. The car also had a surge from the day I bought it, which was never fully resolved despite multiple attempts. The torque steer was also undesirable and inexcusable, and the transmission never shifted smoothly. Finally, the airbag warning light went off at 50,000 miles due to a design flaw by Dodge. Overall, I have had a disappointing experience with this car.Although there were some issues with the design, build quality, and economy of the car, I found the dealer support to be lacking. It's worth noting that Chrysler has stopped production on the Dart, 200, and Avenger, as these platforms were not up to par with others in the same class. Since writing this review, I have traded in my Avenger for a Nissan Altima with the same company that has sold me my last 5 cars. While the trade-in value was not as high as I had hoped, I experienced some trouble with the car from the day I purchased it, and the MPG was not great. However, I did appreciate the mediocre quality of the car.

Update: I sold the car for the balance due on the loan. Even the dealership that bought it acknowledged that it had some issues. Clearly, there is a reason they stopped making this model. It was a great car for about a year, but then it started having constant repairs, weird unexplained noises, and electrical issues. Several people have complained on message boards about the same problems, so it needs to be recalled for several of the issues.

The 2013 Dodge Avenger has proven to be unreliable, as it has failed to start on two occasions in the last four months. My experience with the service department has been disappointing, as attempts to fix the car have only resulted in further issues. I strongly advise against purchasing this vehicle if you rely on it for transportation. The windshield wiper pump failed within the second month of ownership, and the subsequent repair caused damage to my electrical system. It is difficult to trust any claims made about the 'star package'.

I have had my 2013 Avenger for about a year and a half and have driven it for 68,700 miles. Unfortunately, I have experienced some issues with the brakes and the car's overall performance. Despite spending almost $1,000 to fix the brakes a few months ago, they are now squeaking again. Additionally, I have noticed some vibrations and wobbling in the steering wheel, which may be related to the transmission. While these issues are frustrating, I am confident that I will be able to find a suitable solution. I am considering trading in the car when I am financially able to do so. It is important to note that while I have had some difficulties with my Dodge Avenger, I believe that it is still a good car for some drivers. Ultimately, it is up to each individual to decide what car is best for them based on their needs and preferences.

Our A/C went out, so we decided to trade in the car last week. If you search online, you'll find that this car model is known for A/C issues. Additionally, we found that it wasn't the best fit for our family with three babies/toddlers and their car seats.
