I purchased this truck from the local dealer in town. My previous truck, an '87 Ford Ranger, was worn out, unreliable, and had 139,000 miles on it. After discovering the 2000 Chevy 1500 Silverado LS regular cab online, I decided to check it out. I was amazed by its incredible condition, despite having 71,000 miles on it. This truck is built to last and is much more rugged than my old Ford Ranger. It also has the optional 4.8L V8 engine, which gives it a lot more power on the road.

At 86000 miles, you won't believe it, but the only thing I've had to do is change the oil, put a new set of tires on it, and put gas in it. And guess what? It still runs like I bought it yesterday! Can you believe that I'm still running on the original brakes??

Hi there! I just wanted to share my experience with my second new Chevy truck. The first one lasted me a good 5 years, so I decided to go for the Z71 this time around. However, I've been experiencing some squeaks and small repairs, and unfortunately, the dealer's indifference and lack of service ability has been a bit frustrating. I had to bring it in for service for two days just to be told that they have to order a door gasket for installation at another time. And when I brought it in for a drive shaft slip and bump, they repaired it by 'installing a rubber ball from Wal-Mart to cushion the thud'. This was the third time I had to bring it in for the same issue. I was wondering what happened to mid-ship bearings and good service? Also, why are there so many squeaks and rattles? I paid $32,000 for this truck, and I was hoping for the same solid construction that $21,000 got me back in 1994.

Although the truck was quite expensive, it did not meet my expectations. There have been several recalls, and it has been challenging to get Chevy to acknowledge the issues. The truck has a few problems, such as the sound of a diesel engine for the first five minutes after starting it, the A/C pump that never stops running, and the fuel pump that went out. Additionally, the keyless entry only works about half the time. I hope Chevy can address these issues in the future to improve their customers' experience.

For the parts of this vehicle, it is important to note that their model numbers should all begin with g.a.r.b.a.g.e. followed by an identifying number. I have developed a good relationship with the parts store employees since I frequently visit them due to my vehicle's needs. I even have one of them on speed dial to save me time when I need something. This truck is a popular choice in the parts market. When I asked the guy at Advanced Auto which parts are most commonly in stock, it was no surprise that about 80% of them were for Chevy. However, despite having 144,000 miles, the engine does not knock, although it does lose a quart of oil per month. It seems like every part was strategically placed to make it difficult for the owner to do basic maintenance, so it's best to leave it to the professionals. I also own a Toyota 4-Runner made in Japan, which has been a reliable vehicle with only one alternator replacement in its 204,000 miles. If you want a dependable ride, I highly recommend finding a Toyota made in Japan. On the other hand, I have had several issues with my Chevy, including steering clanks, oil and coolant leaks despite numerous repairs, power steering leaks after water pump replacement, a fuel gauge that has never worked properly, doors that don't seem to close properly, and a water leak when it rains. The transmission cable has already gone out, and the list goes on. I also own a Jeep CJ7 1979 model with a true Chevy 305 from a 69 model car, which has been another amazing vehicle with next to no problems. In conclusion, I would not recommend buying a Chevy unless you are tired of your money and want to get rid of it. Although this truck has had some issues, it is important to note that these problems are not present in newer models. With 80,000 miles on the clock, it has served me well on the interstate, where the vibration is not noticeable at speeds above 70 mph. However, at lower speeds, the steering wheel can shake quite a bit. Despite this, I am confident that this truck has many great features and capabilities that make it a worthwhile investment. Great utility pick up in a 2WD. Plenty of get up and go when you need it, even with the 4800 vs the 5300 v8 engine. Tons of room in the extended cab carries my two kids in car seats with plenty of room to spare. The large front power seats are very comfortable and cater to even the most picky passenger. Overall, it's a great truck!

This truck has had a number of issues that have been difficult to keep track of. It uses oil and rattles quite a bit, especially when carrying a load. Additionally, the transmission has a bit of a shutter when taking off. Unfortunately, the service provided by GM has not been up to par. If you happen to speak with a salesman, it may be worth asking about GM's policy on oil usage. You may be surprised to hear that it requires 1 quart for every 1000 miles! Yes, you read that right.
