2019 Chevrolet Cruze problems
The Chevrolet Cruze is a compact car that has been produced by General Motors since 2008. It was designated as a globally developed, designed, and manufactured four-door compact sedan, complemented by a five-door hatchback body variant from 2011, and a station wagon in 2012. During its introduction, the Cruze replaces several compact models, including the Chevrolet Optra which was sold internationally under various names, the Chevrolet Cobalt sold exclusively in North America, and the Australasian-market Holden Astra.
The Cruze was released in 2008 for the South Korean market as the Daewoo Lacetti Premiere until the phasing out of the Daewoo brand in 2011, when it was renamed to Chevrolet Cruze. In Australasia, the model was sold between 2009 and 2016 as the Holden Cruze. In 2016, the Cruze sedan was restyled and renamed for the Australasian market as the Holden Astra Sedan, as a sedan complement to the Holden Astra family.
Due to the market shift towards SUVs and decreasing sales, the Cruze has been gradually phased out. Production of the Cruze in South Korea ended in 2018 as part of restructuring of GM Korea, which in turn ceased supply of the Holden Astra Sedan to Australasia. In the United States and Mexico, production ended in 2019, while production in China ended in 2020. Production continued in Argentina until 2023. It was replaced by the Monza in China, which is known as the Cavalier in Mexico.
Previously, the nameplate has been used for a version of a subcompact hatchback car produced under a joint venture with Suzuki from 2001 to 2007, and was based on the Suzuki Ignis.

Common 2019 Chevrolet Cruze problems
The 2019 Chevrolet Cruze has been reported to have several common problems, primarily related to the engine and fuel system.
One of the most common issues is with the Mass Airflow Sensor, which can cause the car to stall. This sensor measures the amount of air entering the engine, and if it's defective, it can lead to a faulty air-fuel mixture, causing the car to stall.
Another common problem is related to the engine and fuel system, with reports of coolant and oil leaks, overheating, and a bad water pump. These issues can lead to significant engine damage if not addressed promptly. The coolant hose flange, heater hose, and coolant expansion tank are common sources of coolant leaks. If the orifice or PCV passages in the valve cover are blocked, it could cause excessive crankcase pressure, resulting in various oil leaks.
Fuel system failures have also been reported in the 2019 Chevrolet Cruze, which can lead to a loss of propulsion and increase the risk of a crash. Transmission oil leaks can also increase the risk of fires near the ignition source. General Motors has issued recalls for these issues, and owners or lessees affected by these problems will have the missing bolts replaced free of charge.
In addition to these problems, issues with visibility, faulty exterior lighting, and back seat reclining problems have also been reported.
If you own a 2019 Chevrolet Cruze and are experiencing any of these problems, it's essential to get in touch with the dealership immediately to get the problem diagnosed and resolved. Regular maintenance, including regular oil changes and checking the coolant level, can help prevent some of these issues. When buying a used Chevy Cruze, it's crucial to inspect the engine carefully and check for any signs of engine problems, such as oil leaks, burnt oil smell, or a blue or white smoke from the exhaust.

I recently rented a brand new car in Nashville and was pleasantly surprised by its performance. The car handled well and had plenty of torque for passing, with no hesitation when accelerating. I was particularly impressed by the spacious trunk, which easily accommodated two large suitcases and some smaller bags. However, I did have one small issue with the backup camera, which was quite fuzzy and pixelated, making it difficult to use safely. Despite this, the interior was comfortable and didn't feel cheap, although I did find the dash a bit confusing with its blue readouts on black. Overall, the car is a great option for those looking for an affordable and reliable sedan, although I did find the fuel consumption to be rather high.

I bought a CPO diesel hatch with a manual. After 1 month and 4,000 miles, I'm really impressed! The motor has so much torque that I can climb a 7% grade in 6th gear at 76 mph. My only complaint is that the gear shift feels a bit cheap and the clutch has a weird bite point. But overall, I absolutely love it!

I am disappointed to hear that GM has decided to discontinue this car. In my opinion, my 14-month experience with this car outweighs Edmunds' 3-hour test. I found their comments on performance to be quite amusing when compared to my real-life experience. I even drove my LT to and from Florida (2,500 miles) and found the overall experience to be more satisfying than the same trip with my 2018 XT5. I have noticed that the current leases on remaining Cruzes are $100+ more than what I paid, which is unusual for a discontinued vehicle. Thank you for considering my perspective.

I love my car and I'm very happy with it.

This car has plenty of power for highway cruising and passing along with great tech. My only problem with the car is that the auto start-stop feature works only sometimes. Overall, it's a great car.

I recently got this as a rental car while my 2015 Kia Optima LX is being repaired for minor body damage. Although the Chevy had good advertising, I found that my Kia has more power, better features, a better radio, and is more comfortable. It's quite astonishing how much better my Kia is in comparison.

Avoid purchasing this car. After only 700 miles, the vehicle stopped working and the dealer claimed that there were no parts available. Despite GM's lack of assistance, I have been in a rental for 45 days. I strongly advise against buying a diesel Cruze or any GM car. Unfortunately, they have lost a loyal customer.
Jayson Homenick 2024-10-02
This car has been a complete disappointment. The brake pedal is poorly designed and the brakes are over-excited, causing uncomfortable whiplash when trying to stop. The handling is poor, even in traffic, and the driver's seat is too small and uncomfortable. The controls are difficult to use and the infotainment screen is blindingly bright at night. Unfortunately, the auto-stop feature cannot be turned off. Overall, this car is not worth the investment and I regret purchasing it. I will not be buying any GM/Chevy/Buick products in the future.
Max Sauer 2024-09-28
The car feels really solid, and the acceleration is okay. Once the turbo spools up, you get a quick initial shove, that quickly disappears in higher rpms. I did spin the tires while making a right turn onto a highway (grins widely). I loved that part. However, I was honestly disappointed about how little horsepower the car has. I think the older 2.0 Luz engine might have performed exponentially better in real world driving situations as opposed to the 1.6l Whisper diesel I drove today. Lastly, the fuel economy was horrendous! I was only getting 7.5mpg mostly driving city! Even though the car salesman put a half tank of fuel in it before we test drove it. Overall, I mostly liked the faint clatter and growl of the little diesel and pretended I was driving a little truck. Based on my overall assessment of my little diesel dinosaur, I would give the 2018 Chevy Cruze diesel a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.

I had a 2018 Chevy Cruz that experienced numerous engine problems, oil leaks, and misfires. In my experience, this company does not prioritize customer service. Therefore, I cannot recommend them to anyone.
