2013 Cadillac Cts problems

The Cadillac CTS is a luxury car, manufactured and marketed by General Motors from 2003 until 2019 across three generations.
Initially available as a 4-door sedan on the GM Sigma platform, GM had offered the second generation CTS in three body styles: 4-door sedan, 2-door coupe, and 5-door sport wagon also using the Sigma platform — and the third generation was offered only as a sedan, using a stretched version of the GM Alpha platform. High performance sedan variants were offered for each generation, as the CTS-V — with wagon and coupe variants offered for the second generation.
Wayne Cherry and Kip Wasenko designed the exterior of the first generation CTS, marking the production debut of a design language marketed as "Art and Science," first used on the Evoq concept car. John Manoogian III directed the second generation CTS design. Bob Boniface and Robin Krieg designed the exterior of the third generation CTS.
The CTS ended production in 2019 and was replaced by the CT5, which shared its platform with the third and final generation of the CTS in addition to the smaller CT4.

2013 Cadillac Cts recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 2 recalls for different components of the 2013 Cadillac Cts.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Cadillac CTS, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL, and 2014 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Express, Impala, Silverado HD, Traverse, GMC Acadia, Savana, and Sierra HD vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the chassis electronic module may be internally contaminated, resulting in an electrical short.
- Consequence: If the module experiences an electrical short, the vehicle could stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the chassis electronic module, free of charge. The recall began on December 26, 2014. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-458-006 (Cadillac), 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), and 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GMs number for this recall is 14515.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION
- Summary: This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) notified the agency on July 2, 2014 that they are recalling 554,328 model year 2003-2014 Cadillac CTS vehicles manufactured August 16, 2001, to April 28, 2014, and 2004-2006 Cadillac SRX vehicles manufactured March 20, 2003, to August 11, 2006. In these models, the weight on the key ring and/or road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.
- Consequence: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will install two key rings and an insert in the key slot or a cover over the key head on all ignition keys, free of charge. The recall began on September 15, 2014. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 14172.

I mostly drive German cars, specifically the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 535i. Recently, I had the opportunity to purchase a pre-owned 2012 CTS with low mileage. I must say, the ride is quite different, but I actually like it. The car handles bumps and rough roads very well, and the exterior is very articulate. The interior is a bit smaller than the E-Class Benz and the 535i, and the leather seats are harder. They could use a little more padding to make long rides more comfortable. However, the gas mileage is good. The driver's front seat is not as comfortable as the German cars, and there is a strange noise when accelerating. I plan to take it to the dealer to find out what that is. It may be the reason the first owner got rid of it. Nonetheless, I am loving the panoramic roof. I have put about 6k miles on it in the last 3 months, and I use mid-grade gas to get better performance. I still have my Mercedes, but overall, the CTS was a good choice.

This automobile is amazing! The model I purchased has Luxury Level One, which includes a panoramic sunroof, heated seats, electronic climate control, Bose stereo, and leather seating surfaces that are heated at the flick of a button. There are so many options that it is better just to drive one than attempt to list them all here. The quality on fit and finish is exceptional, and the interior cabin is quiet and comfortable. The safety features are numerous and provide a sense of security. This sedan came with high-end Michelin tires, and the ride is remarkable. The cornering capabilities are upper end, and even the 3.0-liter engine provides exhilaration that is unexpected. You feel like you're doing thirty when you're doing 80. I find myself constantly making myself back off the accelerator on the interstate. The car feels nimble driving while you have the security of feeling beefy and strong. I did not buy my sedan for status; I bought it for the performance and architecture. If you really want a car you feel good about, this is it. You get so much more for your money with CTS than with its competitors, some of which are overrated because of their high cost. I highly recommend this vehicle. Five Stars all the way! It has now been 18 months since I purchased this vehicle, and I am pleased to say that it is the best I have ever owned. The performance is great, and there have been absolutely no problems. Zero defects. What else could a person want? So now it is 2020, and the only thing that has happened to my car is that I had to replace a drive wheel bearing on the front right side, which was covered under warranty. We have new Michelin tires on it now. The performing characteristics are a bonus. The paint has held up well, and there have been no issues with the electronics, HVAC, or door and window actuators. This vehicle comes highly recommended!Looking for an affordable purchase? The best buy is a Cadillac CTS in its second or third year of production with under twenty thousand miles. I owned one myself and it ran strong even in September of 2021, with no major problems and driving just like day one. I only had to replace one set of tires and one wheel bearing. In March 2023, I traded it to a Cadillac dealer in Huntsville, AL for $11,000. It was very clean with 80k miles on it and will make somebody a great car. Now, I have a 2023 Cadillac XT5 PL, which is easier to get in and out of, and sits up higher. We are totally happy with it, especially since it's fully loaded with head up display and all safety equipment. It has a phenomenal surround vision camera function and is the safest vehicle I have ever owned! Driving can be stressful these days, with too many cars and trucks on not enough roads, and people pulling trailers and campers who are not trained to do it. But with the Cadillac XT5 PL, we feel safe and secure. If you're looking for a great car, consider the Cadillac CTS or XT5 PL, but be aware of all the above when you purchase your next vehicle.I wanted to let you know that Cadillac makes some really great cars and SUVs. Just so you know, this information was updated on 9/3/2023.

Your car's performance is very impressive and it looks great. The handling is also very good. Over ten fill-ups, I measured an average mileage of 21.5 mpg. Although the rear window visibility is a bit difficult and there is a paint blemish that should have been caught by quality control, the car's design and exterior fit and finish are good. The interior leather is well-fitted and the interior finish is excellent. The accent lighting is just right and the Bose sound is excellent. You made a great choice in selecting this car from among four in the class manufacturers you had narrowed it down to.
-
Great car to drive! Although, it's worth noting that there have been some reliability issues with the transmission and electronics.

You drive about 40k a year, so you go through a lot of cars. After leaving American cars for German due to your excessive mileage, you are glad to be back. You have owned an A6 (which was too uncomfortable) and a 528i (which was too unreliable) and came back to GM. You couldn't be happier. The rebates and incentives that you got were amazing, and you have to say it's nice driving something that not everyone else has on the road (528i). Yours is Opulent Blue, and you get the thumbs up all the time.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to let you know that the cargo net in this car is poorly designed and can interfere with the trunk opening. Additionally, the trunk may not be very spacious, so keep that in mind. At around 47,000 miles, there may be a need for rear end failure and rear axle bearing replacement. I hope this information helps!

I purchased a CTS Coupe 2013 and unfortunately experienced some issues with the vehicle. The car did not drive straight, the transmission was sluggish, and the steering was too loose. However, it is important to note that these issues are not representative of the vehicle as a whole. It is possible that my particular car had some defects. I would recommend doing thorough research and test driving before making a purchase decision. Thank you for considering my experience.

I purchased a used 2012 CTS Lux with only 11,000 miles on it from a single owner who upgraded every six months. Unfortunately, I experienced some issues with the airbags randomly deploying while the car was parked in my garage in May 2014. Thankfully, Cadillac replaced both the driver and passenger airbags under warranty and corrected the wiring issue. Later that year, in November, the airbag light came on and I took it to the same dealer where I purchased it. Although it took them four hours to diagnose the issue, they were able to reset the light. In April 2015, while on vacation visiting family 900 miles away from home, my car caught fire and destroyed everything in the back seat and trunk. Although my insurance company totaled the car, they refused to pay the GAP of $5,000. I contacted Cadillac and my insurance company, but neither were willing to help. Despite my disappointment, I have always been a loyal GM customer. However, I am now considering purchasing European cars due to the high repair bills associated with American cars. If you are considering purchasing this car, please weigh the risks and consider the safety of yourself and your family.

The audio system is really disappointing. I replaced it and now they are telling me that they can't reset the security alarm because it's not factory. It's frustrating, but I'm sure we can find a solution. If not, I might consider switching to a foreign-made vehicle.

Car performance is good and the style is great. However, I understand your frustration with the storage space. It can be difficult to find a place to put your cellphone.
