The Cadillac CTS is a luxury car, manufactured and marketed by General Motors from 2003 until 2019 across three generations.
Initially available as a 4-door sedan on the GM Sigma platform, GM had offered the second generation CTS in three body styles: 4-door sedan, 2-door coupe, and 5-door sport wagon also using the Sigma platform — and the third generation was offered only as a sedan, using a stretched version of the GM Alpha platform. High performance sedan variants were offered for each generation, as the CTS-V — with wagon and coupe variants offered for the second generation.
Wayne Cherry and Kip Wasenko designed the exterior of the first generation CTS, marking the production debut of a design language marketed as "Art and Science," first used on the Evoq concept car. John Manoogian III directed the second generation CTS design. Bob Boniface and Robin Krieg designed the exterior of the third generation CTS.
The CTS ended production in 2019 and was replaced by the CT5, which shared its platform with the third and final generation of the CTS in addition to the smaller CT4.

IT WAS TOWED TO CAPITOL CADILLAC WHERE AGAIN I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVE SHAFT. I WAS FURTHER TOLD THAT THE BOLTS WERE SHEARED OFF. THIS IS NO COINCIDENCE THAT I HAD THE SAME ISSUE TWO YEARS LATER AND $841.00 LATER. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. HOW DO BOLTS GET SHEARED OFF. I WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP COULD HAVE USED USED THE WRONG SIZE BOLTS OR THE PARTS COULD HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE. IN ANY EVENT I AM WITHOUT FAULT AND HAVE A GENUINE CONCERN THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. COULD IT HAPPEN WHILE I AM DRIVING?

THEY CLAIM IT WAS REPAIRED!!!!SINCE THEN WHICH WAS LAST SUMMER MY CAR HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE REPAIR SHOP AS MANY AS 9 OR 10 TIMES WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT COMING ON AND OTHER LIGHT SUCH AS THE TRACTION , THE ABS, THE LOCK ON PASSENGER DID NOT WORK UNTIL I ASK THEM TO REPAIR IT! MY VEHICLE HAS 45K MILES ON IT AND THE SUSPENSION INCLUDING THE RIMS ARE OEM. ITS FRUSTRATING TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT COSTS $75000 TO DRIVE HORRIBLY. THIS CONCERNS ME WITH THE INTEGRITY OF THE VEHICLE. THIS POSES A DANGER IF ITS A PROBLEM THAT MAY ESCALATE TO SOMETHING ELSE THAT NOONE KNOWS INCLUDING THE "GREAT" MECHANICS AT THE DEALERSHIP.

- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Cadillac CTS, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL, and 2014 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Express, Impala, Silverado HD, Traverse, GMC Acadia, Savana, and Sierra HD vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the chassis electronic module may be internally contaminated, resulting in an electrical short.
- Consequence: If the module experiences an electrical short, the vehicle could stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the chassis electronic module, free of charge. The recall began on December 26, 2014. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-458-006 (Cadillac), 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), and 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GMs number for this recall is 14515.

- Summary: This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) notified the agency on July 2, 2014 that they are recalling 554,328 model year 2003-2014 Cadillac CTS vehicles manufactured August 16, 2001, to April 28, 2014, and 2004-2006 Cadillac SRX vehicles manufactured March 20, 2003, to August 11, 2006. In these models, the weight on the key ring and/or road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.
- Consequence: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will install two key rings and an insert in the key slot or a cover over the key head on all ignition keys, free of charge. The recall began on September 15, 2014. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 14172.

I bought this car new and have been the only driver. It has always been garage kept and I have used full synthetic motor oil (Mobil One). It has been regularly serviced at the dealership and has only had one minor issue. The car is painted in black diamond paint and has black leather upholstery and full amenities including Bluetooth, XM, back up camera, heated and air conditioned bucket seats, and tinted windows. The list goes on and on! The only reason I am selling it is because I am getting up in age (78) and don't drive it much. It's a shame to let it sit in the garage. There have never been any passengers in the back seat. This car looks brand new with only 39,000 miles and always draws a lot of comments.

Cadillac charged me $11,000 for a new engine installation. I had to choose between getting a car loan or installing a new engine in my lovely car that runs well. I decided to go with the latter option, hoping to get another 3 years out of it. Unfortunately, the car overheated without any warning during my trip from Maine to Florida. I let it cool and topped up the antifreeze, but Cadillac said I put too much in, causing the pressure to go up and the stay to release too much antifreeze, which led to overheating. When I woke up to leave from Jacksonville, the engine light and stability lights were on. I topped up the fluid again, but the same issue occurred after driving for five minutes. I drove to South Florida, and the dealer said that the car needed a new engine and gave me the option of a $5k used engine, a $6k rebuild, or an $11k new engine. I chose the new engine, and Cadillac explained that it comes with a 30,000 mile guarantee. They have been following up with me to ensure that the car runs well and even invited me to bring it back in 30 days to make sure everything is running smoothly. Although I still do not understand the fill line on antifreeze, I am grateful for Cadillac's support and attention to detail.

I recently purchased a luxury car for a great deal of 34,000 dollars, which was originally priced at 47,000 dollars after all the rebates and incentives. I have previously owned several cars such as MBZ E350, G35, Porsche 911, and Acura TL. Although there are a few minor issues with the phone system, the car drives smoothly despite its weight. The pick-up is pretty good, but not excellent. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase.

I purchased a CTS Coupe 2013 and unfortunately experienced some issues with the vehicle. The car did not drive straight, the transmission was sluggish, and the steering was too loose. However, it is important to note that these issues are not representative of the vehicle as a whole. It is possible that my particular car had some defects. I would recommend doing thorough research and test driving before making a purchase decision. Thank you for considering my experience.

I purchased a used 2012 CTS Lux with only 11,000 miles on it from a single owner who upgraded every six months. Unfortunately, I experienced some issues with the airbags randomly deploying while the car was parked in my garage in May 2014. Thankfully, Cadillac replaced both the driver and passenger airbags under warranty and corrected the wiring issue. Later that year, in November, the airbag light came on and I took it to the same dealer where I purchased it. Although it took them four hours to diagnose the issue, they were able to reset the light. In April 2015, while on vacation visiting family 900 miles away from home, my car caught fire and destroyed everything in the back seat and trunk. Although my insurance company totaled the car, they refused to pay the GAP of $5,000. I contacted Cadillac and my insurance company, but neither were willing to help. Despite my disappointment, I have always been a loyal GM customer. However, I am now considering purchasing European cars due to the high repair bills associated with American cars. If you are considering purchasing this car, please weigh the risks and consider the safety of yourself and your family.

The audio system is really disappointing. I replaced it and now they are telling me that they can't reset the security alarm because it's not factory. It's frustrating, but I'm sure we can find a solution. If not, I might consider switching to a foreign-made vehicle.

We bought our son a Cadillac there 10 years ago and took really good care of it with regular oil changes, etc. It only had 73,000 miles on it when the engine quit in June. We took it to Banks and they said it would cost $7000 or more to fix it, but it wasn't even valued at $7000. I felt really bad because there was absolutely nothing wrong with the car in terms of rust, dents, or scratches, and the interior was in great condition. I can't believe that Cadillac doesn't make a car that can go more than 73,000 miles. I have had regular cars like an Oldsmobile that went to 218,000 miles, a Blazer that went to 140,000 miles, and I still have a Hyundai that has 115,000 miles. I really thought if we got a Cadillac, it was built to last, but I guess I was wrong. Last April 2016, we bought a 2016 truck and a 2012 Cadillac in the same week and paid cash. We paid $21,000 for the Cadillac, but I just took it to a dealer who now says that it is only worth $13,000. That's an $8000 loss on a car we have had for a year and a half. It had 47,000 miles when we got it and it now has 57,000 miles. It is in the garage most of the time now as I am afraid to use it and have the same thing happen to it that happened to the 2007 Cadillac. We had a Cadillac previous to these that had the same issue with the head gasket. I guess I should have done more research on these cars and looked at reviews. I really regret buying this car. These cars are only meant to be leased, I guess, so you only have them for 2 years and then get rid of them. I will be posting my reviews of these cars on all sites that I can. It is definitely buyer beware. I won't ever buy another Cadillac, nor will I recommend anyone else to do so. Thank you for reading this. Rita Richardson
