The Buick Terraza is a five-door minivan marketed by Buick from 2005 to 2007 model years as a luxury crossover sport van. The Terraza was a badge engineered variant of the Chevrolet, Pontiac, and Saturn minivans sharing the U platform; (Uplander, Montana SV6, and Relay respectively), all manufactured in Doraville, Georgia.

Design

The Terraza retailed at US$28,110 in 2005 ($43,853 in 2023 dollars ), and debuted with one engine, a 3.5 L High Value V6 generating 200 hp (149 kW) and 220 lb·ft (298 N·m) of torque. For 2006, a 3.9 L LZ9 V6, with 240 hp (179 kW) and 240 lb·ft (332 Nm) torque. The Terraza offered leather seats, and faux wood trim on the center stack, offered also on the steering wheel and gear shift knob.

For 2007, the 3.5 L V6 was dropped, leaving the 3.9 L as the base engine. Consequently, the optional AWD system was also dropped. A flex-fuel version of the 3.9 L V6 also became available for the Terraza's third season. The 2007 Terraza equipped with side airbags scored a "good" in the frontal offset and an "acceptable" in the side impact Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests.

  • Date Of Incident: 2016-06-27
  • Date Complaint: 2016-06-27
  • VIN: 5GADV33LX5D
  • Components: ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC),SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: THE 2005 BUICK TERRAZA IS EQUIPPED WITH A GM STABILITRACK SYSTEM, WHICH COMBINES ANTI-LOCK BRAKE, TRACTION AND STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEMS. I WAS DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AT 60 MPH ON A STRAIGHT ROAD DURING A DRY, SUNNY DAY AND FULLY LOADED WITH CAMPING GEAR, CHILDREN, THEIR COMPUTER GAMES AND MY WIFE. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLING A SMALL TRAILER. IN AN INSTANT, THE VAN LURCHED AS THE BRAKES ENGAGED ON THEIR OWN. WE LOST 20 MILES PER HOUR IN A SECOND. WE PITCHED FORWARD IN OUR SEAT BELTS, AND THE VAN SWERVED TO THE LEFT INTO THE OTHER LANE OF THE INTERSTATE. I STEERED AS BEST I COULD, BUT IT FELT LIKE SUGGESTING A DIRECTION MORE THAN DRIVING. EVERYTHING WAS MUSHY AND THE TRAILER WANTED TO KEEP GOING. WE PITCHED LEFT AND RIGHT TWICE. THE PANEL SAID THAT THE 'STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM ACTIVE.' I MANAGED TO STEER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND STOP. I BREATHED AND PRESSED ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS. THE KIDS ASKED WHAT HAPPENED, AND I MANAGED TO SAY THAT WE ONLY TOOK A YEAR OFF OF MY LIFE, SAVED THEIRS, AND ENDED THE LIFE OF THIS VAN. A MILE AHEAD, THE INTERSTATE WAS RESTRICTED TO ONE LANE GOING EACH DIRECTION.

Latest negative Buick Terraza car reviews

  1. Ike Buckridge 2024-11-19

    Vehicle year: 2005

This vehicle has had multiple issues, including problems with the radio (4 times), doors (difficulty getting in and out), noise from the front, flickering lights, falling door handles, a hatch falling on a child's head, and ABS and traction control lights coming on. Despite these issues, the dealer has been unable to find any problems. It is not recommended to purchase this van.

  2. Khalid Daniel 2024-11-13

    Vehicle year: 2006

The interior design is very poor. The accelerator pedal is uncomfortable and can cause strain on the foot. The seat adjustment is insufficient for a six-foot driver. Unfortunately, there is no storage space between the front seats, and the cup holder blocks access to the storage space. Additionally, there is only one power outlet in the front area, which makes it difficult to use a phone charger and GPS at the same time. It would be helpful to have a hand grip on the passenger side to hold onto when entering or exiting. There are other deficiencies, but due to time constraints, I am unable to list them all. The wind and road noise are excessive, and there are many rattles. Unfortunately, the dealer has been unable to locate and fix them, and return visits to the dealer have been too frequent to attempt a fix. The CD player had to be removed and sent back.

  3. Mitchell Dicki 2024-11-13

    Vehicle year: 2007

The van has several issues, including discomfort, noise, poor performance, stalling, cruise control, ABS system, and traction stability and control system. These issues are unacceptable and require immediate attention to ensure optimal performance and safety.

  4. Tyrese Schaden 2024-11-02

    Vehicle year: 2007

Overall, I think this is a good van. It has lots of room and is very quiet. It rides nicely on the highway. Although I have had no major problems, I must say that the warranty work performed by Carl Black Buick was very poor.

  5. Oral Wiza 2024-10-25

    Vehicle year: 2007

Although my experience with my Terraza has been less than satisfactory, I am confident in my decision to trade it in for a new vehicle. The sliding doors have been difficult to close, there is limited storage between the front seats, and the lack of air vents in the back has been a source of discomfort for my children. Additionally, I had to have the rear end replaced at 35,000 miles and there have been several rattles inside. Despite these issues, I am confident in my decision to move on from this vehicle, even though it may not be the most financially sound choice. This was my first Buick and while it did not meet my expectations, I am excited to explore other options in the future.

  1. Dillon Kuhic 2024-11-18

    Vehicle year: 2006

I know that Honda, Toyota, and Nissan are popular choices, with Chrysler products leading the American pack. However, I have found the Buick Terraza to be an excellent ride, with all the luxuries of the top models, and at half the price. Although consumer ratings may be low, there are great deals available for GM's. I am not sure why the ratings are low, but I personally enjoy these vans. The vehicle is well-built and has a great look, almost SUV-like. The DVD system with wireless headphones is perfect for keeping the kids entertained, and I have not experienced any performance issues. As a mini-van, I am not expecting the same performance as the cars of my youth. If you are looking for a good van at a reasonable price, I highly recommend this American-made ride.

  2. Willy Kirlin 2024-11-18

    Vehicle year: 2005

This is the first Buick I have ever owned and I am amazed at the ride and how quiet it is. It's just great driving. I had a Chevy Astro before.

  3. Will Ernser 2024-10-29

    Vehicle year: 2005

I've had my Buick for almost two years now and I absolutely love it! The ride is so smooth and the interior is just fantastic. It's been very reliable and I haven't had any problems with it so far. It's also great for the kids as it's very roomy and perfect for traveling. The only downside is the gas mileage, which is about 15mpg in the city and not much more on the highway. The automatic sliding doors are very convenient, but sometimes they can unlatch when you hit a bump in the road, which can be a bit annoying. Overall, I have no regrets about buying this vehicle. I highly recommend it to all the moms out there looking for a great car!

  4. Rupert Fahey 2024-10-17

    Vehicle year: 2006

The van rides really well and has great pickup for its size and weight. The brakes feel fantastic with no fade or shudder. The seats are super comfortable and there's loads of room for hauling things.

As a mini-van, I am not expecting the same performance as the cars of my youth. If you are looking for a good van at a reasonable price, I highly recommend this American-made ride.
