The BMW E34 is the third generation of the BMW 5 Series, which was produced from November 2, 1987, until 1996. Initially launched as a sedan in January 1988, the E34 also saw a "Touring" station wagon (estate) body style added in September 1992, a first for the 5 Series. BMW replaced the E34 with the E39 5 Series in December 1995, although E34 Touring models remained in production until June 1996.

The E34 generation marked the first time all-wheel drive was incorporated into the 5 Series with the 525iX, and the first V8 engine to be used in a 5 Series. The E34 also saw the introduction of stability control (ASC), traction control (ASC+T), a 6-speed manual transmission and adjustable damping (EDC) to the 5 Series range.

There was an unusually large range of engines fitted over its lifetime as nine different engine families were used. These consisted of straight-four, straight-six and V8 engines.

The E34 M5 is powered by the S38 straight-six engine and was produced in sedan and wagon body styles.

Another common problem with the 2007 BMW 525xi is related to the airbags. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has received 78 complaints regarding airbag issues, with drivers reporting that the airbag warning lights click on and stay on at around 100,000 miles. Electrical issues are also prevalent in the 2007 BMW 525xi, with 50 complaints reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. These problems are primarily related to the headlights, which may experience corroded wiring due to insulation rot or rodent damage. This can lead to headlight malfunctions, which can be dangerous while driving, especially during nighttime or in poorly lit areas.

Steering issues have also been reported, with 40 complaints related to the steering system. Drivers have reported that the steering wheel can lock in place, preventing the car from starting. However, a BMW can easily outlast that with regular maintenance, although it demands expensive specialty care. The annual maintenance cost for a BMW is around $684, which is considerably higher than for a typical sedan from this model year.

The 2007 BMW 525xi is equipped with decent entertainment and safety technology for its model year. MP3 players come standard with 10 speakers, and the premium sound package upgrades you to a Logic 7 system with a 6-disc CD changer. Fortunately, it's also one of the most reliable. Why is my 2007 BMW 525xi not starting?

What is the problem with the gearbox on a BMW 5 Series?

Some 5 Series owners have reported issues with the automatic gearbox, including jerking, clunking and sudden drops in speed. Many automatic transmissions are jerky, so this symptom doesn't necessarily indicate a fault, but clunking noises and changes in performance should be investigated.

2006 BMW 525. The BMW 525 puts an emphasis on the driving. This mid-size luxury sedan remains a true sports sedan in any of its variations.

Is the BMW 525d a good car?

The engine is the best here for keen drivers – smooth and cultured, with minimal turbo lag and consistent power delivery across the rev range. But the 525d doesn't perform any better than its rivals, and the springy clutch action of the otherwise good six-speed manual box is hard work in traffic.

Is BMW 5 Series 2007 a good car?

The 2007 BMW 5 Series is an extremely balanced machine that can handle aggressive driving maneuvers on winding back roads as well as it does weekday commutes on crumbling expressways. The optional active steering system hasn't dulled BMW's trademark steering feel, though driving purists will prefer the standard setup.

What is the main problem with BMW 5 Series?

Faulty cooling system
