STEERING PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2020-01-27
  • VIN: WA1UFAFL4FA
  • Components: STEERING
  • Summary: ESPECIALLY IN COLD WEATHER, STEERING INTERMITTENTLY DEVELOPED RESISTANCE AT CENTER POINT WHILE IN MOTION - FROM 30 MPH ON UP. STEERING WOULD NOT STAY POINTED STRAIGHT AHEAD, WOULD KICK OFF TO ONE SIDE OR ANOTHER. PROBLEM WOULD GO AWAY IF CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND ON, ONLY TO REOCCUR. PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS INTERNAL STEERING RACK FAULT CAUSING STEERING SHAFT TO HEAT UP AND BIND. SOLUTION WAS TO REMOVE AND REPLACE ENTIRE RACK ASSEMBLY AND STEERING KNUCKLE.

STEERING PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2019-07-22
  • VIN: WA1UFAFL1FA
  • Components: STEERING
  • Summary: UPON RETURNING TO THE CAR AFTER A REST STOP, A RED STEERING WHEEL SYMBOL APPEARED IN THE DASHBOARD ALONG WITH "DO NOT DRIVE". IT GOT TOWED TO A DEALER WHO REPORTED ENGINE CODE DTC B2000. CAR WAS 1 MONTH OUR OF WARRANTY. REPAIR WAS >$3000 REPLACING THE STEERING GEAR AND POWER STEERING MODULE. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN QUITE BAD HAD IT FAILED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. THE CAR ONLY HAS ABOUT 34,000 MILES. THIS IS A SERIOUS AND IN MY VIEW POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ISSUE. NOT TO MENTION EXPENSIVE.

AIR BAGS,STRUCTURE,WHEELS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2018-07-13
  • Number Of Injuries: 3
  • Crash: 1
  • VIN: WAUHFAFL9FN
  • Components: AIR BAGS,STRUCTURE,WHEELS
  • Summary: TAKATA RECALL OR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 14V66700 I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT JULY 13 2018. MY CAR'S AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, 3 OTHER CARS INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT AIRBAGS DID DEPLOY. FIREMAN AT THE SCENE TOLD ME "THERE IS A RECALL ON YOUR CAR, DID YOU KNOW?" MY MARKET VALUATION REPORT AS MY CAR WAS TOTALED, STATES THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS CAR. IT STATES DUE TO AN IMPROPER ALGORITHM IN THE AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE, IF A CRASH NECESSITATES DEPLOYMENT OF THE SIDE AIRBAGS, A SECOND IMPACT TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE MAY NOT COMMAND THE FRONT AIR BAGS TO ALSO DEPLOY AND AS A CONSEQUENCE FURTHER STATES, IF THE FRONT AIR BAGS DO NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A SECONDARY IMPACT TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK OF OCCUPANT INJURY. TRAFFIC WAS STOPPED ON THE HIGHWAY AND YOU COULD CLEARLY SEE BRAKE LIGHTS AND THE SLOWING OF TRAFFIC FOR QUITE A DISTANCE. I TRAVEL THIS AREA REGULARLY AND AM AWARE OF THE CONSTRUCTION THAT CAUSES TRAFFICE TO SLOW. THE TRUCK AHEAD OF ME STOPPED, I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP, THE CAR BEHIND ME STOPPED THEN A A CAR HIT ME FROM BEHIND, MY CAR WAS PUSHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE A CAR LENGTH AHEAD OF ME. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, MY HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. MY CAR WAS ALSO PUSHED SIDEWAYS INTO THE CONCRETE DIVIDER. WHEN I READ THE RECALL, IT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED IN MY CAR. MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED OCTOBER 28, 2014. WHY DID THEY NOT DEPLOY? PLEASE ADVISE AS THIS WAS A SERIOUS SITUATION AND I AM DEALING WITH A BRAIN INJURY. THERE WAS A FATALITY AS WELL. *TT *DT *TR

AIR BAGS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2017-11-04
  • VIN: WA1TFAFL1FA
  • Components: AIR BAGS
  • Summary: TAKATA RECALL
2015-01-21

STEERING PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2014-12-01
  • VIN: WA1UFAFL3FA
  • Components: STEERING
  • Summary: AROUND 3,000 MILES I NOTICED A CHANGE IN THE CHARACTER OF THE STEERING. AT TIMES THE STEERING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WOULD FEEL VERY LIGHT (ALMOST LIKE EXTRA BOOST OR ASSISTANCE) AND AT OTHER TIMES THE STEERING WOULD BE VERY FIRM, ALMOST TO THE POINT OF NOT MOVING / TRACKING NATURALLY WHILE DRIVING. IF TURNED, THE WHEEL WOULD STAY IN THAT POSITION. SHORTLY THEREAFTER THE SENSATION OF A "DETENT" AT THE CENTER POSITION OF STEERING BECOME PROGRESSIVELY MORE NOTICEABLE, ULTIMATELY TO THE POINT THAT IT WOULD TAKE NOTICEABLY EXTRA EFFORT TO TRANSITION THE CAR FROM A RIGHT TURN TO A LEFT TURN AND VICE-VERSA (I.E. CROSSING CENTER TOOK EXTRA FORCE, AFTER WHICH THE RESISTANCE WOULD FALL OFF CAUSING OVERSTEERING). I TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER AND THE CAR WAS THERE FOR 5 BUSINESS DAYS. WHEN I DESCRIBED WHAT WAS HAPPENING THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT -- THEY CALLED IT "NOTCHY" STEERING. THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE STEERING RACK AND COLUMN AFTER A REGIONAL REP CAME TO EVALUATE THE CAR. INITIALLY THE CAR FELT RELATIVELY NORMAL AFTER REPAIR, BUT I AGAIN AM STARTING TO INTERMITTENTLY FEEL THE "DETENT" IN STEERING AT CENTERLINE. THIS SENSATION IS ONLY APPARENT AT HIGHWAY SPEED (HENCE MY CONCERN!). TO MY SURPRISE (AND HORROR) A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALED THAT THIS HAS BEEN A REAL PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE, MOSTLY 2013 MODELS. THERE ARE TWO YOUTUBE VIDEOS SHOWING THE PROBLEM, AND MULTIPLE FORUM DISCUSSIONS ON THE TOPIC. TO MY KNOWLEDGE ONLY 2013 MODELS HAVE BEEN REPORTED ON THE INTERNET TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM, BUT OBVIOUSLY MY 2015 MODEL-YEAR HAS THE SAME PROBLEM, SUGGESTING WHATEVER IT IS HAS NOT BEEN FIXED IN THE LINEUP AND LIKELY 2014 & 2015 MODELS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. IT MAKES THE CAR'S STEERING UNPREDICTABLE, AND I DO NOT ALLOW MY WIFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS I AM NOT CONFIDENT IN ITS SAFETY. I WORRY THE STEERING COULD FAIL OR LOCK UP -- AGAIN ALL AT HIGHWAY SPEED. *TR

2015 Audi Allroad recalls

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 1 recalls for different components of the 2015 Audi Allroad.

2014-10-24
  • Manufacturer: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
  • Components: AIR BAGS
  • Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Audi A4 and S4 vehicles manufactured February 16, 2012, to October 21, 2014, and 2013-2015 Audi Allroad vehicles manufactured March 12, 2012, to October 21, 2014. Due to an improper algorithm in the air bag control module, if a crash necessitates deployment of the side air bags, a second impact to the front of the vehicle may not command the front air bags to also deploy.
  • Consequence: If the front air bags do not deploy in the event of a secondary impact to the front of the vehicle, there is an increased risk of occupant injury.
  • Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and Audi dealers will update the air bag control unit software, free of charge. The recall began on November 14, 2014. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-822-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 69K5.

Negative 2015 Audi Allroad car reviews

  1. Bruce Lind 2024-11-14

Well, I think it's a beautiful looking car. I recently financed one of these cars and have been driving it for 2 weeks now. I love Audis, but unfortunately, this one has been giving me nothing but headaches. It doesn't run properly and shuts off on me frequently. Now I'm stuck with it.

  2. Henry Parisian 2024-09-02

I have identified a major flaw that is preventing me from upgrading the system. However, I am confident that I will be able to resolve this issue.

  3. Micah Douglas 2024-07-27

I purchased my car brand new in 2013 and while the handling and driving experience was great, unfortunately the engine had a number of flaws. I would advise staying away from the VW Audi 2 liter engine as it was poorly made by the manufacturer. As a German, I am disappointed in the VW Audi brand. The axle, turbo, camshaft, and water pump all went bad prematurely and had to be replaced. At 80,000 miles, it started burning oil and Audi did not provide any assistance. As of last week, I sold the non-operable All Road to the mechanic for £1000. I would not recommend buying an Audi as my experience was not positive.

Positive 2015 Audi Allroad car reviews

  1. Curt DuBuque 2024-07-25

The allroad is an excellent, practical, and versatile car. It is a fantastic alternative to the A4, with a wider track, higher clearance, and extra weight that increase stability and actual off-road capability (not Jeep off-road capability, but greater than your average sedan). The 2.4L turbo engine provides decent power. It's exciting to see that Audi has finally made the allroad available on the A6, where it was originally born. That's even better than the A4 version!

  2. Sidney Olson 2024-06-24

Dependable-Period, I am so impressed with this car! It has been brought back to its new condition, with both the body, details and engine-drive train looking fantastic. The whole car has been redone and it feels like it's brand new again in 2022!

  3. Brice Heathcote 2024-04-22

Great car! And the 2017 update is expected to be even better.

  4. Elbert Waters 2024-03-13

This wagon is basically an A4, and it is quick, comfortable, and functional. I particularly enjoy taking long trips in it, and it stands out in the sea of SUVs. However, there are a few notable issues that can be annoying. For instance, there is a large gap between the plastic cladding along the sides and the body, which can trap lots of gunk, mostly leaves. As many have noted, the older version of MMI is slow and not very intuitive. Additionally, the climate control in the backseat never really worked, and the rear windshield has a wiper but no spray. For a $50K car, you would expect these minor details to be addressed. Overall, I strongly recommend this solid wagon. I love fast wagons, and this one definitely fits the mold.
