- Summary: November 2022, 2005 audi allroad 2.7T diagnosed fire/melting of lightbulb of the passenger side headlight due to electrical issues. Was unable to repair the headlight at that time. November 2023, owner of vehicle finds open recalls associated with this make/model. Since the recalls were dated back to 2006 or 08, so the VIN tools only show up to 15 years. I made an recall repair appointment with my local Audi. When I called to make sure they had the parts for the repair they said there are no open recalls & suggest I get a diagnosis. My vehicle has already been diagnosed with said recall consequences listed below: my headlight was on fire and burning multiple times due to this failure I referenced the nation highway campaign number in which the audi dealership employee refused to utilize. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 06V198000 RECALL DATE: 2006-06-07 SUMMARY ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH HALOGEN LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS, CERTAIN CONNECTOR PINS IN THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH CONNECTOR COME INTO CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER CAUSING A SHORT CIRCUIT. NOTE: VEHICLES WITH XENON LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT AFFECTED BECAUSE THE CIRCUIT IN THESE VEHICLES CONTAINS A FUSE, WHICH PRECLUDES EXCESSIVE CURRENT FLOW IN THE CASE OF A SHORT CIRCUIT. AUDI S6 AND S6 AVANT VEHICLES ARE ALL EQUIPPED WITH XENON LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS AND, THEREFORE, ARE NOT LONGER AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL. CONSEQUENCES THIS CONDITION COULD LEAD TO OVERHEATING OR FIRE. REMEDY DEALERS WILL REROUTE THE WIRING HARNESS BY INSTALLING A JUMPER WIRING HARNESS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 16, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT AUDI AT 1-800-822-2834. - Date Of Incident: 2021-10-25
- Date Complaint: 2021-12-18
- VIN: WA1YD54B83N
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE
- Summary: During recent heavy rains, all of a sudden the car's transmission that had been working fine, after having been parked briefly pointing slightly down hill, no longer functioned properly, and had apparently gone into "LIMP Mode". after talking with Mechanics and doing research, we checked the carpet areas and determined and documented the car's interior was very wet, both in front and in the rear areas, with evident moisture and corrosion under the battery and cabin air filter areas and rear wheel well area. The Transmission no longer shifts properly and the car is not able to be safely driven. Apparently there is a well known design flaw in the Audi C5 A6 vehicles where multiple drains frequently fail. apparently there are 2 very hard to access drains under the battery, under the battery tray, and also the cabin air filter seal to the sidewall is prone to failure. I'm told that there is a "soft" NTSB Audi Recall on this. Please advise.

- Date Complaint: 2021-01-04
- Fire: 1
- VIN: WA1UFAFL0DA
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
- Summary: A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND "DTC" LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH WHILE DRIVING, BUT THE CAR HAD NO SYMPTOMS OF FAULT OTHERWISE. DURING ONE FOLLOWING DAY, I WAS IN THE GARAGE WHERE THE CAR WAS PARKED, WAS NOT RUNNING AND UNLOCKED WITH KEYS INSIDE, AND SMELLED AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. I OPENED THE HOOD AND FOUND A SOFTBALL SIZED FIRE BURNING FROM AN ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR COMING FROM THE SIDE OF THE ENGINE. AFTER PUTTING THE FIRE OUT, I FOUND A BLOWN 'ENGINE MANAGEMENT' FUSE WHICH MAY BE ORIGINALLY TRIGGERED THE DASHBOARD FAULTS. I COULD NOT DISCONNECT THE CONNECTOR BECAUSE IT HAS MELTED TOGETHER, BUT AM HOPING THE BLOWN FUSE WAS FOR THAT CIRCUIT SO NO ELECTRICITY IS FLOWING THROUGH.

- Summary: I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND FELT MY BACK IN PAIN/BURNING. THE HEATED SEAT ELEMENT HAD CAUGHT THE SEAT BACK ON FIRE AND BURNED A HOLE THROUGH THE SEAT AND BURNED MY SKIN. LUCKILY, I WAS ON A CITY STREET WITH A SPOT ABLE TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY, TURN OFF THE CAR, AND SMOTHER THE FLAME WITH MY JACKET. I THINK THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. HAD I BEEN DRIVING AND UNABLE TO PULL OVER THIS WOULD HAVE BURNED ME MUCH WORSE OR CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I AM EVEN MORE CONCERNED BECAUSE WHEN I REPORTED IT TO AUDI ALL THEY HAD TO SAY WAS IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY AND ASK ME TO PAY $190 TO DIAGNOSE IT. I DON'T THINK 'OOPS IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY' COVERS MY SEAT CATCHING ON FIRE AND BURNING ME WHILE I'M DRIVING. THIS COULD HAVE EASILY BECOME A DEADLY INCIDENT IN DIFFERENT DRIVING CONDITIONS! HOW IS THIS OK?! THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY!

The allroad is an excellent, practical, and versatile car. It is a fantastic alternative to the A4, with a wider track, higher clearance, and extra weight that increase stability and actual off-road capability (not Jeep off-road capability, but greater than your average sedan). The 2.4L turbo engine provides decent power. It's exciting to see that Audi has finally made the allroad available on the A6, where it was originally born. That's even better than the A4 version!

Picking up an allroad slightly used was the only way we could find to replace our beloved 2007 A4 wagon. We still have the wagon but since it has 146,000 miles we decided to 'leave' the wagon to our daughter. It's a great replacement and is performing well. The 8-speed transmission is smooth as butter (no, I did not mean better).

Well, I think it's a beautiful looking car. I recently financed one of these cars and have been driving it for 2 weeks now. I love Audis, but unfortunately, this one has been giving me nothing but headaches. It doesn't run properly and shuts off on me frequently. Now I'm stuck with it.

I purchased my car brand new in 2013 and while the handling and driving experience was great, unfortunately the engine had a number of flaws. I would advise staying away from the VW Audi 2 liter engine as it was poorly made by the manufacturer. As a German, I am disappointed in the VW Audi brand. The axle, turbo, camshaft, and water pump all went bad prematurely and had to be replaced. At 80,000 miles, it started burning oil and Audi did not provide any assistance. As of last week, I sold the non-operable All Road to the mechanic for £1000. I would not recommend buying an Audi as my experience was not positive.
