Audi A6 1999 problems
The Audi A6 is an executive car made by the German company Audi since 1994. Now in its fifth generation, the successor to the Audi 100 is manufactured in Neckarsulm, Germany, and is available in saloon and estate configurations, the latter marketed by Audi as the Avant. Audi's internal numbering treats the A6 as a continuation of the Audi 100 lineage, with the initial A6 designated as a member of the C4-series, followed by the C5, C6, C7, and the C8. The related Audi A7 is essentially a Sportback (liftback) version of the C7-series and C8-series A6 but is marketed under its own separate identity and model designation.
All generations of the A6 have offered either front-wheel-drive or Torsen-based four-wheel-drive, marketed by Audi as their quattro system. The A6 has also been used as the basis for the company's Allroad models since 1999.
Both petrol and diesel versions of the A6 are offered. The wide range of engines available have power outputs ranging from 150 to 333 PS (110 to 245 kW). These are inline four-cylinder turbocharged engines and more powerful 3-litre units in a V6 configuration with a mechanical compressor.

Common Audi A6 1999 problems
The Audi A6 1999 is known for a variety of common problems that owners have reported. One of the most frequently reported issues is electrical problems, which account for 37 NHTSA complaints. These problems can range from malfunctioning dashboard displays to issues with the coolant temperature sensor, fuel level sensor, and other indicators. In some cases, the arrows of these sensors can take on a life of their own or become too silent, indicating a problem with the electronics. The dashboard display may also surrender, causing the ABS and airbags to malfunction due to oxidation of the contacts and tired soldering of the unit.
Another common problem with the Audi A6 1999 is engine issues, which account for 40 NHTSA complaints. These problems can include issues with the camshaft position sensor, intake camshaft control, and internal control module. For example, the camshaft position sensor on bank 2 may have a short to ground, while the sensor on bank 1 may have an open circuit. The intake camshaft control on both banks may also malfunction, and the internal control module may have an EEPROM error. Additionally, the load calculation cross check range/performance may malfunction, and the car may experience misfires in cylinders 1 and 2.
The Audi A6 1999 also has issues with the fuel system, which account for 43 NHTSA complaints. These problems can include issues with the secondary air injection system, which may have incorrect upstream flow. The car may also experience long-term fuel trim issues, with the air-fuel mixture being too rich or too lean in different banks.
Other common problems with the Audi A6 1999 include brakes problems (42 NHTSA complaints), steering problems (19 NHTSA complaints), suspension problems (17 NHTSA complaints), windows/windshield problems (15 NHTSA complaints), seat belts/air bags problems (10 NHTSA complaints), interior accessories problems (10 NHTSA complaints), lights problems (9 NHTSA complaints), drivetrain problems (9 NHTSA complaints), body/paint problems (8 NHTSA complaints), wheels/hubs problems (6 NHTSA complaints), transmission problems (4 NHTSA complaints), miscellaneous problems (3 NHTSA complaints), and exhaust system problems (3 NHTSA complaints).
In general, the Audi A6 1999 engines are generally quite reliable but like any unit, it is not without drawbacks. The main problems are associated with high mileage and inevitable aging as well as unreasonably high prices for service maintenance in young years which forced owners to resort to savings. High quality fuel is a favorite delicacy of a german gasoline engine that prefers 95 or 98 gasoline units refueled by the 92nd suffer from interruptions more often than others. The chain drive resource is at least 180 000 kilometers but sometimes the chain had to be changed even after 120 000 kilometers. After 200 000 kilometers the chain tensioner began to die after warming up at idle the noise of the camshaft chain knocking appeared subsiding with an increase in speed over 1500 rpm. Replacing the timing belt drive is recommended every 60 thousand kilometers at the same time do not forget to change the pump as well. It rarely nurses two timing belt replacements

STEERING,SUSPENSION,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2016-01-20
- VIN: 4T1BF28B51U
- Components: STEERING,SUSPENSION,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: TAKATA RECALL I'VE HAD TO REPLACE A WHEEL BEARING AND AXEL 2X @ $550 EACH TIME. CAR WOULDN'T ALIGN RIGHT, SO I REPLACED THE TIRES SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THE WEARING ON ONE SIDE. THE CALIPERS WON'T COME OFF WHEN CHANGING THE BRAKES AND ROTORS. THE AUTOMATIC WINDOWS WOULD RANDOMLY ROLL DOWN SOMETIMES AFTER IT WOULD RAIN, AND WOULDN'T ROLL BACK UP FOR SEVERAL DAYS. I FIXED THE TURN SIGNAL AND CRUISE CONTROL, BUT THE PROBLEMS WITH THOSE RETURNED AFTER A COUPLE WEEKS, AND WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE UNDER COVER/PROTECTOR PLASTIC BROKE OFF ALL OVER THE ROAD BECAUSE THE AUDI DEALERSHIP APPARENTLY FORGOT TO PUT IT BACK ON PROPERLY. THIS POSSIBLY ALLOWED FOR THE OIL PAN TO HIT THE GROUND AND CRACK, WHICH A SUSPENSION PROBLEM WAS CLEARLY PART OF THAT PROBLEM TOO. I TOOK IT IN TO SEE ABOUT A CRACK IN THE OIL PAN. THEY COULDN'T FIND IT, BUT SHORTLY THEREAFTER, I DROVE TO THE MOVIE STORE AND WHEN I GOT BACK TO MY CAR, IT WAS NO LONGER RUNNING. A PUDDLE OF OIL WAS SPILLING OUT OF IT, AND THE THE ENGINE WAS SHOT. I HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS. I'M GUESSING THAT THE PROBLEMS STEMMED FROM THE WHAT THE CAR WAS RECALLED FOR.

SUSPENSION,POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2012-07-18
- Components: SUSPENSION,POWER TRAIN
- Summary: AUDI CLAIMS THAT TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILTER NEVER NEEDS TO BE CHANGED, THIS IS NOT ONLY INCORRECT, BUT THIS ALSO CAUSES TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ON A REGULAR BASIS. THIS SHOULD NOT BE TOLD TO THE CUSTOMER FOR IT IS A LIE JUST SO THE CUSTOMER HAS CONSTANT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WHILE AUDI RACKS IN THE MONEY. IT IS A SCAM AND IT SHOULD BE ELIMINATED FROM POTENTIAL AND EXISTING AUDI CUSTOMERS. NO OIL WAS EVER MADE NOT TO BREAK DOWN AND NOT EVER BE CHANGED. A NEW AUDI OWNER USUALLY LISTENS TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THEIR CARS, AND USUALLY DON'T CHANGE THE FLUIDS OR FILTERS, HENCE TRANSMISSION BREAK DOWNS AND EXPENSIVE REPAIRS. SCAM *TR

- Components: TIRES
- Summary: MY WIFE WAS DRIVING TO WORK THIS MORNING WHEN SHE HAD A TIRE BLOWOUT ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 60MPH. I MET UP WITH HER TO PUT THE SPARE ON AND I WAS EXPECTING A NAIL OR SOMETHING IN THE TIRE. WHEN I INSPECTED THE TIRE I WAS SURPRISED TO NOTICE A SEVERE BLOWOUT ON THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE ON THE INSIDE SIDE WALL OF THE TIRE FROM THE TREAD TO THE RIM. THIS IS CONCERNING TO ME BECAUSE WE STILL HAD 40,000 MILES LEFT ON THE WARRANTY AND WE STILL HAVE THE SAME BRAND/SIZE ON THE OTHER TIRES. I AM WORRIED THAT THIS MAY HAPPEN ON THE OTHER TIRES. THE BRAND OF TIRE IS YOKOHAMA AVID TRZ SIZE: P205/55R16 89T. I KNOW THIS TIRE IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST, BUT I AM SUSPECT OF THIS TIRE AFTER THIS INCIDENT. *TR

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2011-04-22
- VIN: WAUBA34B6XN
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: 1999 AUDI A6 QUATTRO SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SLOT AT MAYBE 5 MPH, MY FOOT WAS LIGHTLY PRESSING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, AS I WAS NEARLY IN THE PARKING STALL. THE ENGINE WAS AT IDLE SPEED. AS I COASTED INTO THE PARKING STALL WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THE ENGINE SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING REVVED UP TO ABOVE 3000 RPM. THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD HITTING THE PARKING CURB DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME. I IMMEDIATELY APPLIED MORE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO KEEP THE CAR FROM JUMPING OVER THE CURB, AND SHIFTED THE GEAR SELECTOR INTO N. THE ENGINE THEN REVVED EVEN HIGHER, AT WHICH POINT I TURNED OFF THE KEY. WITH THE KEY OFF, I MOVED THE GEAR SELECTOR TO P, AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE THEN RAN IDLED AT NORMAL SPEED, AND DROVE NORMALLY TO MY HOME ABOUT 1/4 MILE AWAY. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED; THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS AS I WAS COASTING TO A STOP AT A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT. AGAIN MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AND THE ENGINE WAS RETURNING TO IDLE SPEED. AS I APPROACHED THE INTERSECTION THE ENGINE REVVED CAUSING ME TO COAST THROUGH THE INTERSECTION BEFORE BEING ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A FULL STOP, AGAIN BY APPLYING STRONG BREAKING FORCE. I THEN PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN N AND THE ENGINE REVVED HIGHER, SO I SWITCHED OFF THE KEY. THANKFULLY THE OTHER VEHICLES HAD ALREADY CLEARED THE INTERSECTION AND THERE WAS NO COLLISION. WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, IT IDLED AND DROVE AS NORMAL AGAIN. THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOVE 45 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT AND THE PAVEMENT WAS DRY IN BOTH CASES. *TR

- Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: DRIVING HOME TONIGHT MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED ACCELERATING (I DRIVE AN AUDI A6 1999). USING THE BRAKES I WAS ABLE TO SLOW IT DOWN ENOUGH TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY THOUGH MY BRAKES SEEMED TO BE FIGHTING AGAINST THE CAR. I ROLLED THROUGH TWO STOP SIGNS AS MY CAR WOULD NOT STOP AND LUCKILY AVOIDING THE OTHER CARS WAITING THERE I WAS ABLE TO PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE. I WAITED TEN MINUTES OR SO AND TRIED STARTING MY CAR. THE ENGINE REVVED TO 4 TO 5000 RPMS SO, I QUICKLY SHUT IT OFF AGAIN. I WAITED AGAIN, TRIED IT ONCE MORE AND THE CAR STARTED FINE. I DROVE HOME, CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I COULD BE SEEN ON 02/14/11. FOUR DAYS FROM NOW. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. *TR

AS I WAS MAKING THE TURN TO PULL INTO THE PARKING SPACE, I HEARD THE ENGINE REV, AND THE CAR ACCELERATED AS THOUGH THE CRUISE CONTROL HAD "KICKED IN" AND MY BRAKE WOULD NOT STOP THE CAR. RATHER THAN HIT A CAR THAT WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF MY PARKING SPACE, I TURNED THE VEHICLE TO GO UP A CURB AND HIT A TREE. ONCE THE TREE STOPPED THE CAR, I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, BACK DOWN OFF THE CURB, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND PULL OUT THE KEY. OIL WAS POURING OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO MY HOME, WAS EXAMINED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY, AND WAS WRITTEN OFF AS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2009-09-07
- Fire: 1
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: WHILE DRIVING MY AUDI A6 AVANT QUATTRO, SMOKE BEGAN COMING OUT OF THE DRIVERS SIDE DASH VENT. I STOPPED THE CAR AS SOON AS I SAFELY COULD AND CALLED 911, AS SOON AS I WAS OUT OF THE VEHICLE THE SMOKE BECAME WORSE AND FLAMES BEGAN ROLLING OUT OF THE DASH AREA. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER WHICH A NEARBY RESIDENT LUCKILY HAD HANDY. BY VIEWING THIS FIRE AT CLOSE RANGE I AM CERTAIN THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY ENGULFED WITHIN MINUTES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT USED A HEAT SENSING TOOL TO DETERMINE THAT THE SOURCE OF THE FIRE OR HOTSPOT WAS VERY NEAR THE FUSE BOX BEHIND THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH. THEY CUT THE DASH APART TO BE SURE THE FIRE WAS COMPLETELY OUT. I HAD NO WARNING OF THIS MALFUNCTION AND AM JUST THANKFUL THAT I WAS ABLE TO GET AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE AS QUICKLY AS I DID. *TR
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2009-07-15
- VIN: WAUDA24B3XN
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: CAR: 1999 AUDI AVANT WAGON 1. THE CAR WAS LEFT OUTSIDE DURING THE WINTER OF 2008/9 AND UNUSED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. IN SPRINT OF 2009, THE CAR WAS JUMP STARTED AND THIS IS WHEN THE PROBLEMS STARTED OCCURRING. 2. REGARDLESS OF COLD WEATHER, THE CAR WILL ACCELERATE. MORE SPECIFICALLY, WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS RELEASED, THE CAR WILL NOT DECELERATE. THIS MEANS THE CAR WILL PROPEL ITSELF FORWARD. WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES ACHIEVE A SPEED OF 40-45 MPH. BY PUSHING THE PEDAL DOWN AND RELEASING IT QUICKLY (PUMPING THE PEDAL), THE THROTTLE WILL RELEASE AND THE CAR WILL COME BACK DOWN TO IDLE SPEED. THIS OCCURS NOT EVERY TIME BUT APPROXIMATE 1 OUT OF 10 TIMES THAT THE CAR IS DRIVEN. 3. THE TUBE THAT LEADS TO THE THROTTLE, THE ACCELERATOR CABLE, AND THE THROTTLE BODY HAVE ALL BEEN REPLACED. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE THROTTLE BODY ON THIS CAR RELATED TO THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE BUT THE RECALL IS ONLY BASED ON VERY COLD AMBIENT WEATHER. I AM EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE DURING WARM WEATHER ALSO. THE MECHANIC NOW THINKS THIS IS DUE THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM). *TR
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2009-01-05
- Crash: 1
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
- Summary: ALL OF A SUDDEN MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON IN MY 1999 AUDI A6, AND THE BRAKE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. I HAD A FULL LOSS OF MY ABS BRAKES ON ICY WINTER ROADS. I EVENTUALLY SLID OFF THE ROAD AND HIT A FENCE. THE ABS CONTROL MODULE ON MY CAR HAD FAILED, AND I'VE READ POSTS OF SEVERAL HUNDREDS OTHER HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IN MY CAR IT IS A CONSTANT ERROR, AND NO-ONE BUT AUDI CAN FIX THE PROBLEM. I ALSO CONTACTED AUDI, WHICH CLAIMS THAT THE ABS SYSTEM DISABLING IS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN. WHEN THERE'S A CHANCE THAT YOUR ABS (SOMETHING YOU'VE RELIED ON FOR YEARS) SUDDENLY SHUTS DOWN BECAUSE OF A WAY TOO COMMON ERROR, IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. I WAS LUCKY I ONLY GOT SOME DENTS TO MY CAR, BUT IF AUDI HAD RECALLED THESE I WOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO GET REPAIRS DONE TO MY CAR. UNFORTUNATELY SOMEONE WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO DIE BEFORE THIS SAFETY CONCERN IS TAKEN SERIOUSLY AND AUDI WILL DO A RECALL. *TR

SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRIC PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2008-12-14
- VIN: WAUDA24B8XN
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRIC
- Summary: I DRIVE A 1999 AUDI A6 AVANT WHICH IS OUR PRIMARY FAMILY CAR. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ONE DAY, THE CAR'S ABS WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE CAR IS SHUT OFF. AT THE SAME TIME THE RED BRAKE WARNING LIGHT FLASHES ON AND OFF UNTIL THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. THIS SAME THING HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE CAR IS TURNED ON. DESPITE THE FLASHING WARNING LIGHTS, THE BRAKES OPERATED NORMALLY ON DRY PAVEMENT. HOWEVER, ON WET, SNOWY PAVEMENT THE ABS DID NOT WORK WHEN BRAKING FOR A STOP. I CALLED THE AUDI DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THIS PROBLEM (AND OTHER ISSUES) BECAUSE I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE BRAKES ESPECIALLY DURING THE WINTER. THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH AT THE AUDI DEALERSHIP DID NOT SOUND ALARMED OR VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE WARNING LIGHTS FOR THE ABS AND THE BRAKE. I ASKED AGAIN ABOUT THE SAFETY ISSUE, AND THE PERSON SAID I WOULD BE FINE AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR ME FOR TWO AND A HALF WEEKS LATER. WE DROVE THE CAR CAREFULLY FOR THE NEXT TWO AND A HALF WEEKS UNTIL OUR APPOINTMENT AT AUDI. BEFORE EVEN LOOKING AT THE CAR, AUDI SERVICE DESK SAID THAT THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE PROBABLY, MORE THAN LIKELY THE ABS CONTROL MODULE. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $975 TO REPLACE THE ABS CONTROL MODULE. I DIDN'T HAVE THE DEALERSHIP REPLACE THAT ABS MODULE YET BECAUSE I NEEDED OTHER REPAIRS FIRST. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ABS CONTROL MODULE ONLINE AND AFTER TALKING TO A FEW PEOPLE I REALIZE THAT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL CAR AND FOR OTHER AUDI CARS BUT THERE IS NO RECALL CAMPAIGN IN EFFECT FOR THE BATCH OF FAULTY ABS MODULES. I LIVE IN MINNESOTA WHERE THERE IS POTENTIAL TO BE SNOW 5 MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED BECAUSE OF ALL THE SAFETY FEATURES THAT ARE USEFUL IN SNOWY WEATHER. TO HAVE THE ABS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND THEN TO REALIZE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS MAKE OF CAR SEEMS TO ME TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURE. AUDI SHOULD RECALL THE ABS MODULE. THANKS. *TR

Audi A6 1999 recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 9 recalls for different components of the Audi A6 1999.
- Manufacturer: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
- Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
- Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (VW) is recalling certain 2000-2001 TT Roadster, 2000 TT Coupe, 1999 Audi A8, 1998-2000 Audi A6, and 1999-2000 Audi A4 vehicles equipped with Non-Azide Driver air bag Inflators (NADI) that do not contain phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant. Due to a manufacturing issue, the NADI inflators may absorb moisture, possibly causing the air bag to deploy improperly in the event of a crash.
- Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, the air bag may not properly protect the occupant, increasing the risk of serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag inflator with an alternative inflator when the parts become available, free of charge. Owner notifications were mailed September 21, 2021. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 69BT.
- Manufacturer: VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH HALOGEN LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS, CERTAIN CONNECTOR PINS IN THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH CONNECTOR COME INTO CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER CAUSING A SHORT CIRCUIT. NOTE: VEHICLES WITH XENON LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT AFFECTED BECAUSE THE CIRCUIT IN THESE VEHICLES CONTAINS A FUSE, WHICH PRECLUDES EXCESSIVE CURRENT FLOW IN THE CASE OF A SHORT CIRCUIT. AUDI S6 AND S6 AVANT VEHICLES ARE ALL EQUIPPED WITH XENON LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS AND, THEREFORE, ARE NOT LONGER AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL.
- Consequence: THIS CONDITION COULD LEAD TO OVERHEATING OR FIRE.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REROUTE THE WIRING HARNESS BY INSTALLING A JUMPER WIRING HARNESS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 16, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT AUDI AT 1-800-822-2834.
- Manufacturer: VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 2.8L, V6 5-VALVE ENGINES, AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS, WHILE DRIVING DURING EXTREMELY LOW AMBIENT TEMPERATURES THE THROTTLE MAY FREEZE IN AN OPEN POSITION DUE TO ICE ACCUMULATING IN THE THROTTLE BODY.

I really appreciate your honest review of the car. It sounds like it has a lot of great features, like plenty of room in the cab and trunk, and a stylish design. However, it's a shame that the cost of ownership was higher than expected due to maintenance costs. It's good to know about the potential issues with the stereo, too. Thank you for the helpful tip about the owner's manual. Overall, your review was very informative and I appreciate your insights.

I've only had the Avant 2.8 for a month, which I bought used with 32k. I must say, Audi builds a quality product that is extremely solid and well designed. I agree with previous reviews that it feels slightly underpowered while in a partial throttle acceleration from a standing stop, but if you get on it, the 200 ponies are definitely there. When the engine is cold, the trans does not want to shift at the normal times, but the tiptronic cures that. The car is a joy to drive on the highway - smooth as silk and good handling. I also prefer the tiptronic shifting in the mountains. The car corners like it's on rails, and it doesn't feel at all like a wagon.

Time flies when you're having fun! Our three-year lease on the A6 just flew by. We loved all the features that came with it, especially the Quattro All Wheel Drive which was perfect for our trips to Tahoe in the snow and driving around our hilly area in the rain. The stereo system with CD in-dash and changer has been faultless and sounds superb. We only had one minor repair, a leak in a vacuum tube, which was quickly fixed by the dealer. With three small kids, the car is easy to clean and looks like new afterwards. We haven't had any issues with broken gadgets, which is a relief. This is our family's third Audi and we will definitely buy again. While the power and performance are good, it's not a speed sensation.

I recently purchased this vehicle with 39,900 miles and have had no issues so far. The 2 year/100,000 mile Audi Assured warranty was a major factor in my decision to buy. The car is incredibly smooth and fast, although the acceleration off the line is not quite what I expected. The dealership has been fantastic thus far, fixing a few cosmetic features and leaving the car in immaculate condition. I would highly recommend this car to anyone, especially if they purchase Audi Assured.

At 110K, my Audi experienced several issues such as the timing belt, control arm, serpentine belt & transmission, which led to a sudden stop while driving. Fortunately, I was able to avoid a serious accident. As a car owner, I expect a vehicle to be dependable and reliable, and unfortunately, my Audi did not meet those expectations. In comparison, my 15yr old Jeep Grand Cherokee at 180k had fewer problems. Therefore, I have decided to sell my Audi and purchase an Acura, which I am confident will provide me with the reliability and dependability I need.

The car has been a disappointment in terms of performance and reliability. Despite being marketed as a luxury car, it falls short of American and Japanese vehicles in terms of build quality and dependability. Although I was initially drawn to the car for its image, I have come to regret my decision. I have experienced numerous issues, including oil leaks and excessive wear on brake pads and tires. In contrast, my previous car, a 4Runner, was much more reliable. I have learned my lesson and will be returning to a more dependable vehicle.

For the $40k this car cost, it should be reliable. Unfortunately, it has had 16 major problems and 22 minor ones in just 4 years. I wish I had bought two $20k Mazdas instead. I'm disappointed with my experience and will not be purchasing another Audi in the future.

I purchased the car used with 52k miles and was impressed with its appearance and interior. However, the car's reliability has been poor. Over the last 10 months, I have had to address several issues, including a transmission leak ($320), engine oil leaks ($1,000), cruise control module ($525), transmission relay ($520), and a fading digital display. Despite these challenges, I have decided to trade it in next week for a Nissan.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my Audi. When I was looking for a car, I considered a few different options like the Volvo V70, MB 320/420 wgn, and Mazda 6 wgn. However, after taking the Audi for a test drive, I knew it was the one for me. The styling and roominess were exactly what I was looking for, and the AWD and long list of options sealed the deal. I was thrilled to find it for only $8,500 two years ago with 73k miles on it, especially since similar MB or Volvo models were well above $10,000. However, I have experienced some issues with the electronics and other parts of the car. For example, the ABS controller cost me $500 to replace, and I had to spend $1,000 on upper control arms/tie rod replacement. I've also had to deal with an oil leak. Despite these issues, I still love my Audi and am glad I chose it. Thanks for listening!

I bought this car with 30K miles and now it has 88K. The Quattro is amazing in slick conditions such as snow, ice, and rain. The seats are comfortable, even on long trips, and the car is spacious with a decent Bose sound system (CD changer is in the trunk). The trunk is huge and the rear seat offers plenty of room for a family of four. Although maintenance can be expensive ($$) and requires specialty tools that are costly, I still enjoy the ride. However, there are some issues such as the Vehicle Info System fading, the bumper ripping off if you hit a curb, and leaks in the oil, transmission, and differential fluids. Additionally, the brakes don't last, the air pump fails, and the suspension components are expensive. The mileage is mediocre (I average 22 mpg) and the tires don't last. Despite these issues, I still enjoy the ride!
