2024 Acura Integra problems
The Honda Integra (Japanese: ホンダ インテグラ, Hepburn: Honda Integura), sold in North America as the Acura Integra and later the Acura RSX, is an automobile produced by the Japanese company Honda from 1985 until 2006, and then since 2021. It succeeded the Quint as a more luxurious and sport-oriented derivative of the Civic. The Integra was one of the launch models for Acura in the US in 1986 alongside the Acura Legend. Throughout its production run, the Integra was highly regarded for its handling and performance. The 1995–2001 Integra Type R is widely regarded as one of the best front-wheel-drive cars of all time.
The Integra nameplate was revived in 2021 after a 16-year hiatus. The Honda Integra nameplate is used for a restyled Honda Civic sedan for the Chinese market, while the Acura Integra nameplate is used for a Civic-based liftback for North America, replacing the Acura ILX.
First generation (1985)
This vehicle debuted in Japan in February 1985 as the Honda Quint Integra, available only at Honda's Japanese dealership sales channel Honda Verno before going on sale a year later in North America as part of the then-new luxury Acura lineup. The three-door liftback was the only model available originally, with a five-door arriving in October 1985. The four-door saloon bodystyle became available in Japan in the autumn of 1986. Only the liftback versions were sold in the U.S. A 1.6 L DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine powered most versions. The engine was the vehicle's most publicized feature, as DOHC, multi-valve engines were not commonplace in entry-level models at the time. In most European countries, only the five-door liftback was offered, as a replacement for the Honda Quint. Typically for European Integras, only the 1.5-liter 85 PS (63 kW; 84 hp) 4 Weber carburetors engine was available. The five-door liftback model was also sold in Australia rebadged as the Rover 416i. Except for in Britain, Honda did not offer the more powerful 1.6 DOHC fuel injection engine (in the UK known as the Integra EX16) in Europe. The ZC engine was also shared with the Honda Concerto, which was sold at newly established Japanese dealership sales channel called Honda Clio, which sold luxury oriented products like the Honda Legend.
In Japan, while the VX- and RX-trimmed four-door (DA2) used the 1.5 L EW5 engine, all other model and trim combinations offered only the DOHC ZC engine, with a carburetor on GS, ZS, and LS trim packages, and PGM-FI on the top level GSi three- and five-door, and the RSi three-door trim package. Vehicles installed with a carburetor earned 15.4 km/L (44 mpg‑imp; 36 mpg‑US) in Japanese Government emissions tests and 115 PS (84.6 kW; 113.4 bhp), and 26 km/L (73 mpg‑imp; 61 mpg‑US) at consistent speeds above 60 km/h (37.3 mph). Vehicles with PGM-FI earned 14.4 km/L (41 mpg‑imp; 34 mpg‑US) in Japanese Government emissions tests with 135 PS (99.3 kW; 133.2 bhp), and 24.5 km/L (69 mpg‑imp; 58 mpg‑US) above 60 km/h (37.3 mph). In Japan, the Integra took the entry level marketing position at Honda Verno, below the sporty Prelude and larger, luxury focused Vigor.
Compared to the US, the European Integra was aimed downmarket and generally lacked equipment, with neither trim level (LX or EX) offering painted bumpers, central locking, power windows, nor air conditioning, even though a small number of fully equipped, left-hand drive fuel-injected Integras were sold in the Netherlands. The Integra EX16 did offer a sunroof, painted bumpers, a rear spoiler and Hi-Fi stereo equipment, but neither electric windows, central locking nor air conditioning were available. This was considered as a drawback to its European competitors such as the Peugeot 309 1.6 injection and the Renault 11 Turbo, that all could be equipped with comprehensive, albeit expensive, equipment. The first Integra never became as popular in Europe as it did in the US, but was praised by most motor magazines for its styling and overall road performance. The styling reflected the popularity of Honda's performance coupe, the Honda Verno sports coupe companion Honda Prelude, with the Integra offering a coupe for added cargo accommodation, and a slightly smaller appearance to the larger Honda Vigor. Largely unencumbered by emissions regulations, British market cars produce 85 PS (63 kW) in the 1.5 and 125 PS (92 kW) in the 1.6-liter EX16.
Being designed as the successor of the Honda Quint, the Integra is closely related to the Civic, although it featured a small list of key upgrades over its smaller stablemate to help merit a price increase over the CRX Si, which was otherwise the sportiest subcompact vehicle being offered by Honda Verno; enlarged 4-wheel disc brakes replaced the small front-disc/rear-drum setup used by the Civic and CRX, suspension calibration was re-worked, better tires were used and a 113-hp DOHC fuel-injected 16-valve engine was used in place of the SOHC unit from the CRX Si. Just like the Prelude and the Vigor of that period, the Integra featured sleek, sporty pop-up headlights, like its Japanese dealership Honda Verno stablemates, with the CRX adopting semi-concealed doors over the headlights. Nearly 228,000 units were sold during the four-year run of the first-generation model, most of them in the United States.
The first-generation Acura Integra came with 1.6-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder (D16A1) engine which received an update mid-cycle. The 86–87 engine is commonly called the "Browntop" while the 88–89 engines are referred to as the "Blacktop" due to the color of their valve covers. The improvements in the "blacktop" engine included lighter rods, domed pistons for slightly higher compression, and an electric advance distributor (the "browntop" came with a vacuum advance distributor). The overall gain in performance was about 5 hp (3.7 kW) for 118 hp (88.0 kW).
The Integra received a minor facelift for the 1988 model year which featured slightly reshaped indicator lights, an improved climate control system and an update of the instrument clocks. In Europe, the Integra five-door Liftback was discontinued in October 1989 following the launch of the Rover-based Honda Concerto.
This was the only generation to offer 3-, 4-, and 5-door models. Production of the 5-door liftback ceased in 1988.

Common 2024 Acura Integra problems
Based on complaints from owners of the 2024 Acura Integra, common problems with this car include:
- Issues with Fuel Tank Filler Neck: Some owners have reported a malfunction with the fuel evaporation sensing component in the filler neck, leading to a code indicating a problem. This issue affects the vehicle's revmatch function and can cause inconvenience. Parts for repair might be on backorder, delaying the resolution of this problem.
- Malfunctioning Auto-Up Window Function: Another common problem involves the auto-up window function on the driver's side window. Owners have experienced issues with this feature, leading to the window not functioning as intended. This problem can impact the convenience and usability of the vehicle, especially in terms of driver comfort and safety.
These issues, although not widespread, have been reported by some owners of the 2024 Acura Integra. It's important for potential buyers to be aware of these problems and consider them when evaluating the overall reliability and performance of this car.
Is the Acura Integra a reliable car?
We expect the 2024 Integra to have about average reliability when compared to other new cars. This prediction is based on the Acura brand score.
Why was the Acura Integra discontinued?
The RSX was sold as a Honda Integra in Japan and Australia, markets where Acura did not exist. In June 2006, Honda discontinued the Integra after its final 300 cars were sold, due to the shrinkage of the coupe market.
Is Acura Integra worth it?
We think the Integra is at its most well rounded when equipped with its A-Spec with Technology package trim. For not much more money than the base model, you get a substantial number of comfort and convenience features. However, it's pretty boring.
Will there be a 2024 Acura Integra?
The 2024 Integra delivers an unforgettable driving experience. It's equipped with a 200-HP * VTEC® Turbo engine and sporty paddle shifters for power you can feel and control. Available 6-speed manual transmission paired with a sophisticated Rev-Match Control system pushes the boundaries of excitement to the redline.

STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-31
- VIN: 19UDE4H3XRA
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: The steering on this vehicle began feeling sticky intermittently, not every trip starting 7/31/2024. Since then it has become more and more of an issue. The sticky steering is most noticeable on the interstate when trying to recenter the steering wheel after going around a curve. More so when straightening from a left turn. I had researched, just after leasing the vehicle, and saw this was an issue on 2023 models. Nothing has happened until about 10,000 miles on my odometer. It has become prevalent during every trip taken now, including on secondary roads at lower rates of speed. A service appointment was scheduled with my dealer, a couple of days prior to the recall. I was advised to bring it in, as the recall had not been announced at that time. When I took it in on 10/15/2024, the dealer shared there was nothing they could do at this point, didn’t even inspect it or look at it, as it is too early in the recall and they had not been told how to fix it. They also shared it could be months before something could be done. I am writing to document this issue, should there be an incident, and share that it is a little unnerving to drive a vehicle that could potentially cause an accident and have a dealership say there is nothing they can do and that I should continue driving the vehicle… No lights, warnings, etc have come on in association with this issue.

STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-05-06
- VIN: 19UDE4G71RA
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: The steering wheel locks momentarily at cruising speed of 35-45 MPH. This results in the need of over or under compensating the steering with extra effort. The steering is generally locked in the same position and it also frequently moves the direction of the vehicle to the point that I fear this is a severe safety issue.
VISIBILITY PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-03-04

- VIN: 19UDE4G75RA
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: After driving on longer drives the steering becomes "sticky" off center. Looses its smoothness of operation. Usually does not occur on shorter drives, but, the longer you drive the more prevalent the problem becomes. This is my wife's car and I had not driven it for a while, as I was driving it the problem manifested itself. As soon as I said something to my wife, she said she had noticed it as well. Upon a suggestion from a auto tech friend I turned off all the electronic nannies, but, the problem is still there.
STEERING PROBLEM

- VIN: 19UDE4G74RA
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: My car only has 3725 miles. In some occasions, after a while of driving at highway speeds, steering requires a noticeable increase in the amount of force needed to turn the wheel for small corrections or turning. It feels like the wheel is stuck. After turning the wheel a couple of times, like when you take an exit to get off the highway, the steering wheel starts behaving normally and smoothness returns.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-03-03
- VIN: 19UDE4G79RA
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? STEERING. MOMENTARY INCREASE IN STEERING EFFORT FREQUENTLY OCCURS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? RISK OF LOSS OF CONTROL. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? YES, DEALER CONFIRMED ON 3/8/2024. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? ISSUE WAS REPRODUCED AND ACKNOWLEDGED BY THE DEALER BUT THE ACTUAL STEERING WAS NOT INSPECTED TO MY KNOWLEDGE. THEY INDICATE THAT ACURA IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT HAS NOT ISSUED ANY DIRECTION EVEN THOUGH THE WELL KNOWN FIX IS REPLACEMENT OF THE STEERING RACK. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? NO
VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-03-04
- VIN: 19UDE5G99RA
- Components: VISIBILITY/WIPER
- Summary: The rear window defroster does not operate to normal standards on the rear windshield. For example, it took almost 30 minutes for the rear defroster to begin working from the time it was powered on. This was on a relatively warm day, with condensation on the back windshield. Rear visibility was affected on my drive. I do plan to have the dealer inspect since it's a brand new car, but have not yet. No warning lights, etc. Multiple complaints on Integra forum similar to this complaint.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-01-04
- VIN: 19UDE4H62RA
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: Steering sticks. Steering sticks every time vehicle is driven more than 15-20 minutes at highway speeds with and without lane keeping assistance on. Very uneasy feeling driving this vehicle. First noticed problem the day after I purchased this certified preowned dealer loaner Acura Integra A Spek vehicle with 4000 miles on Jan 3, 2024. Reported problem to Acura Dealership where I purchased vehicle on February 8, 2024. Awaiting guidance from dealership and Acura representative.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-02-22
- VIN: 19UDE4H66RA
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: The steering wheel sticks and/or takes more effort to turn when traveling >30MPH. The steering wheel does not return to center on its own at these speeds. When the steering wheel sticks during a turn (as if it were in a notch) it takes more effort to get the wheel out of the notch and I have over corrected in a turn multiple times because of the extra force needed to turn the wheel. Symptoms started around 3500 miles, 3 months into ownership. Issue is inconsistent, not easily replicated except under precise driving conditions. at speeds <30 MPH, the issue is rarely present.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-02-14
- VIN: 19UDE4G76RA

STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-01-27
- VIN: 19UDE4H68RA
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: I've been having issues with the steering on my 2024 Acura Integra. It has roughly 8k miles on the odometer. There is an intermittent issue where it feels like my steering gets hung up/takes more effort to make a turn. When the issue recurs on certain drives, but doesn't occur at all on other drives. I've noticed the issue most frequently when traveling on the highway. The issue feels similar to fighting against the lane keeping system, but there are no warning lights and I'm not close to leaving my lane. I've had the issue occur when the lane-keep system is off and cruise control is off so I don't think it is occurring due to the safety systems. I see an open investigation into this issue and a technical service bulletin was released for the Honda Civic SI(same car mechanically). I've informed my Acura dealer, Pohanka Acura in Chantilly, VA. They brushed off the technical service bulletin because its from Honda, not Acura. They're essentially the same car...
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-01-22
- VIN: 19UDE4G7XRA
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: At under 3k miles I am experiencing something called “sticky steering.” The steering wheel will get stuck and I would need to use more force to turn the wheel. For example When making turns, the wheel should return back to its normal position when you let go of it. However, with the sticky steering issue, it does not and I would need to forcefully straighten out the wheel. This occurs at both low and high speeds and seems to be more prevalent in colder weather. A quick Google search seems to show a common issue with this generation Acura Integras and Honda Civics.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-02-08
- VIN: 19UDE4G74RA
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: My 2024 Acura Integra is exhibiting the sticky steering wheel event that the Honda Civics are experiencing (EA23003 and PE23005). When driving at highways speeds the wheel becomes "stuck" in one position. When you go to make a small correction there is added resistance and when the wheel does move it moves abruptly due to the extra force required. This causes the wheel to move farther than needed / expected causing the car to abruptly at highway speeds. I've turned off the LKAS system and switched between all of the different steering "modes" to try and correct this. Found out that this is an issue with the Civics and now prevalent in the Integra. Very unsafe. I've also experienced it some on a curvy road which was quite disturbing.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-01-16
- VIN: 19UDE4G79RA
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: Vehicle steering can stick and cause a momentary increase in steering effort that could potentially cause over-correction and an increased risk of a crash
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-01-19
- VIN: 19UDE4H31RA
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: The steering component has a defect to where when you’re driving and go to slightly turn the steering wheel it feels as if it “gets stuck” and then just gives. It is a safety issue because it causing you to steer harder and then when it gives you are pulling the steering wheel with a little more pressure you almost over correct. Could cause a wreck. It was inspected by dealership and there was no code and “drives how vehicle was intended by manufacturer” they were unable to re create it. I’ve been driving the car since September and just started having this issue 3 weeks ago around 7k miles. I’ve read other integras especially 23’ has had this issue. They won’t replace it until there is a recall for it.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-02-01
- VIN: 19UDE4H6XRA
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: The steering wheel is quite sticky when I'm driving and causes some safety concern as the effort to turn my car at high speed is affected. Need a resolution on this one quickly as during tight turn and high speeds this is a big safety issue.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-12-29
- VIN: 19UDE4G70RA
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: Steering wheel sticks in position while driving, both around corners and while driving straight. Steering racks are on backorder.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-01-23
- VIN: 19UDE4G74RA
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: Steering becomes “sticky” not centering in an unrestrained state resulting in excessive constant input required to center vehicle in otherwise straight line driving like it is contantly tracking off course and never in a neutral position. Problem persists even after a battery disconnect to reset electronics.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-10-30
- VIN: 19UDE4H6XRA
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: My Acura has around 3000 miles and for the last 1000 miles or more the steering seems to "stick" even when lane keep assist is off. I am able to move the steering wheel with some force but it often over corrects the problem. It happens at 25 MPH and over regardless of drive mode. In a quick internet search this seems to be an issue with both Acura Integra and Honda Civic. I first noticed it on the highway at 55+ MPH but am noticing it at lower speeds. This has happened multiple times not 1 incident.

Most aspects are good. However, the Integra could benefit from more power. Additionally, I noticed that the Aspec model, when fully loaded, comes with a velour material in the middle of the seat that is difficult to clean and maintain. It would be great if this could be improved in future models.

Only had it a day but I'm really enjoying this car. I just love it!

I'm in my 50's and I've had my fair share of go-fast sports cars with harsh rides and manual transmissions. However, this time around, I was looking for something that was both playful and fun to drive, while also being comfortable and fuel-efficient. The Honda Civic hatchback seemed like the perfect fit for me, especially with its practicality and Bose stereo. When I approached the Honda salesperson, I was disappointed to hear that the MSRP for the Civic Hatchback Sport Touring was $37,000, which was higher than what I expected. I was also not interested in the additional protection package, market adjustment, window tint, or Lojack, which the salesperson said could not be removed. Unfortunately, they did not have any non-accessorized Civics in stock. However, when I visited the Acura dealer, I was pleasantly surprised by the red suede seats with adjustable lumbar, the 16-speaker stereo, and the electronically adjustable suspension. Although the sticker price was $38,000, the Acura salesman offered me a CPO with 4500 miles on it, an extended warranty to 100,000 miles, and complementary loaner cars from the service department, all for $36,000, without any add-ons or market adjustments. They even threw in complimentary all-weather mats and 3 years of AcuraLink. In my opinion, the Integra is a much nicer car than the Civic, and the dealer experience is light years better. Having driven both, I can confidently say that I really love my Integra. It's exactly what I wanted - really fun to drive, rides nice, but not too nice, and still very engaging to drive.I must say, the CVT is actually quite impressive. It provides a smooth driving experience without the need for constant gear shifting. If you prefer a more traditional feel, you can use the paddles to emulate a 7-speed transmission, which shifts quickly and adds to the fun of driving on twisty back roads. While it may not be the fastest car out there, the 1.5L turbo engine provides adequate power and is quite torquey. It never struggles, and you can easily reach triple digits faster than you might expect. Plus, it's incredibly fuel-efficient, getting around 34mpg in mixed driving and nearly 40mpg on interstate trips at 70mph. The seats are also very comfortable, and there's plenty of room inside. The hatchback is a great feature, even if the lift-over is a bit high. Overall, if you're considering a high-spec Civic, I highly recommend visiting a few Honda dealers and then checking out your local Acura dealer for a completely different experience.

I'm so glad to hear that you love everything about this car! I understand that the hands-free phone charger can be a bit tricky to figure out, but I'm sure you'll get the hang of it soon.

I leased a 2024 Acura A-Spec Integra in silver lunar metallic and it's absolutely awesome! The car drives beautifully and has terrific performance. It has good MPG, great acceleration, and plenty of power to get the job done. The interior is outstanding. I'm very satisfied!

The car may feel bumpy on the road, but it handles well with passengers on board. If you're driving alone, it's best to take it easy. The seats may be a bit hard, but they provide good support.

If you're a history buff like me about automobiles past, you'll know that there was never such a thing as a four-door sports car. History shows us that Porsche, Mercedes, Audi, and even America's early muscle car era Corvette, GTO, Malibu/Chevelle Fury Roadrunner, GTX Mustang Challenger, and even Charger were never considered four-door sports cars. If a car had four doors, it was considered a family car for gentlemen who had gotten married and lost their sports car due to their kids and family size. Unfortunately, in this day and age, the only way to buy a true sports car is to spend $80,000 or more. It's really sad how car companies are killing off the coupe and pushing people into family-oriented sports cars that are four-door, even SUVs, which are nothing but glorified station wagons. This is what the world has become. Not every young man or woman in this world has a family yet and needs to have a four-door family car. Young people deserve a true sports car!

I recently had to look for a new car after my 2022 Kia Forte GT was totaled. At the time, most cars were selling over sticker, but I was able to find the Integra at sticker price. However, I have to say that this car is not worth the premium price tag, even at MSRP. The built quality is worse than any other car I've owned, with the whole interior rattling and imperfections in the paint from the factory. The backup camera resolution is poor and looks outdated, and the car is incredibly loud at highway speeds. While many people rave about the ELS sound system, it's hard to appreciate it when the door panels rattle with even the slightest bass. In comparison, my previous 2022 Kia Forte GT, which was in the same class as the Integra, was a far superior car at half the price. It was quiet, had no rattles, and had features like a backup camera, infotainment system, cooled seats, rear AC vents, ambient lighting that changed colors, and even a spare tire - all things that the Integra is missing but should have at this price point. When I recently tried to trade in the Integra, I was disappointed to find that its value had tanked, and my dealer said they were having trouble selling them on the lot. If you're in the market for a fun, sporty car, I would recommend looking at the Forte GT instead - it's an overall better car and more engaging to drive.

I purchased my '23 Integra A-Spec because I believed it was a well-designed, practical, and enjoyable daily driver. Honda put a lot of effort into creating a great car, which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1. Unfortunately, my experience with quality issues in the first 12 months and 11,000 miles has been disappointing. I encountered some interior pieces that were misassembled and needed to be fixed, such as the mode selector switch next to the shifter that fell behind the panel. Although it was annoying, it was not a significant issue by itself. However, things have not improved and have only gotten worse. At 3 months, a piece of exterior window trim warped and started making a lot of wind noise at highway speeds, which Acura fixed after 3 dealer visits and a couple of months waiting for the part. Since then, I have been dealing with an endless stream of squeaks, rattles, and buzzes. Something under the car groans every time I shift at low speed. There is something that sounds like a rattlesnake behind the dash if the engine exceeds 4,000RPM. I have rattles in a door panel, the headliner, and somewhere else in the dash. The noises never seem to stop. In that regard, the Integra is worse than anything I've ever owned, including vehicles that were well over 100k miles by the time I sold them.
