2014 Volkswagen Touareg problems

The Volkswagen Touareg (German pronunciation: ) is a car produced by German automaker Volkswagen Group since 2002 at the Volkswagen Bratislava Plant. Considered to be the first luxury mid-size SUV from Volkswagen, the vehicle was named after the nomadic Tuareg people, inhabitants of the Saharan interior in North Africa. Originally, the Touareg was developed together with the Porsche Cayenne and the Audi Q7, and as of October 2020, the Touareg was developed together with the Audi Q8, the Bentley Bentayga and the Lamborghini Urus. This family of vehicles are all unibody SUVs with independent suspension. The first generation (2002–2010) offered five, six, eight, ten and twelve-cylinder engine choices.
Development
The Volkswagen Touareg (internally designated Typ 7L) was developed as a joint venture project by Porsche and the Volkswagen Group, involving the Audi and Volkswagen brands. During the initial development phase of the Typ 7L and the early years of its production, Porsche operated as an independent entity, not affiliated with the Volkswagen Group. The sports car market is known for its fluctuations. In response to these market conditions, Porsche's CEO at the time, Wendelin Wiedeking, sought to diversify the company's product range. This strategy included the introduction of Porsche's first four-door vehicle. A team in Weissach, Germany, of over 300, led by Klaus-Gerhard Wolpert, developed the Volkswagen Group PL71 platform. Now it is shared between the Touareg, the Audi Q7, and the Porsche Cayenne. However, there are styling, equipment, performance, and technical differences between them. The Touareg and Cayenne both seat five, while the Q7's stretched wheelbase accommodates a third row for seven passengers.
The Volkswagen Touareg is built at the Volkswagen Bratislava Plant in Bratislava, Slovakia, alongside the Audi Q7. The Cayenne is assembled by Porsche in Leipzig, Germany, at a facility built for Cayenne production.
Due to the demand and the exchange rates of euros against the US dollar, as well as different pricing and environmental policies in the US, the V6 and V8 engine variants make up most of Volkswagen's American Touareg offering. Compared to other Volkswagen-branded vehicles sold in the US, which are aimed at the mass market, Touaregs came in more upscale trims and competed with other luxury crossover SUVs.

ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-06-22
- VIN: Wvgdp9bp5ed
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: After recently purchasing this vehicle I noticed the car be long more and more sluggish. While driving one morning I experienced loss in power and an flashing check engine light and glow plug light on the dash. The car went into “limp” mode and I could not accelerate past 40 MPG on a busy road. I pulled over slowly and let the car sit. After turning the car on off and back on, the CEL went away . I attempted to pull out into traffic and with my foot to the floor, the car has no acceleration leaving me going extremely slow into traffic. The cars acceleration has been terrible and really not safe to drive. I have several CEL codes including P0402. After having the car inspected we found that the intake filter had Completely deteriorated at the bottom. Almost as if water had been sitting in the bottom of the air filter box. After removing the old filter and replacing it with a new one, we also cleaned the mass airflow sensor, unplugged it and plugged it back in. This did help the vehicle drive much better. Unfortunately, this only lasted for a very short time. Within several miles later I’m driving a vehicle acceleration issues persisted again. Some fluid was found to be inside of the oil as well. The car vehicle Is now scheduled to go back to have a full examination in service. Based on some recent finds it also seems that there have been many others who have experienced the same issue. Review is for my 2013 TDI LUX: It took a while to get used to its numerous quirks, but I absolutely love this vehicle. It has a personality, like your zany friend with the full lips and incredible body. The athletic one who can beat you to the top of the hill in a foot race without breathing hard, and best you in a swim out to the old raft moored in the middle of the lake. However, sometimes this friend can confuse Thursday for Friday, or give you the wrong time and address for the party thrown in your honor, or tell you they absolutely can install the new software upgrade you need, and then on the day tell you they don't have it and you don't really need it. But hey, isn't this a beautiful day? In other words, the entertainment system is pretty dismal. Most of it works, albeit a little clumsily. Streaming music via Bluetooth works well with Android and iPhones, but connecting an iPod is a bit of a pain; it takes six steps, and six more steps as soon as you turn the engine off. Counterintuitively, you do this through the PHONE soft keys. Your HDD and SD inputs store music alphabetically, and there is no way around that other than to mix. This means you cannot listen to albums in their original order. You cannot search for artists, genres, or albums, but only for songs, and then limited to just the five listed on the scroll bar on the touch screen. If you have an extensive collection of tunes, you won't be able to say, So, I like my friend, but some days I wish they were more thoughtful and less selfish and would actively search for ways to be kind and try harder to gain my admiration. On the other hand, my friend is very skilled in their area of expertise. The fit and finish of their work is superb and their Touareg is a joy to drive on the highway. It is also very quiet and surefooted in the rain and snow. The car warms up quickly and has wonderful torque. The seats are extremely comfortable both in the front and rear, with lots of legroom. The corn silk beige interior in mine is beautiful and easy to clean. The car also has decent gas mileage, and the current price for diesel at Costco is $1.83 a gallon. The range is almost 700 miles to a tank. The car is understated but beautiful, and the diesel engine should last half a million miles, if California and the EPA allow me to keep it. Yeah, I could have bought a Lexus or a Mercedes, but I don't think I'd be this enamoured.

Congratulations on your new Touareg! It sounds like a great upgrade from your previous vehicle. The build quality is exceptional and the navi/voice controls are top-notch. The digital info screens are upscale and the leatherette feels and acts just like real leather. The rear seats have tons of room and can slide back 6 inches for even more leg room. The ride is smooth and the power is excellent thanks to the 8-speed transmission. Overall, it's an executive class cruiser! If you test drive other mid-size SUVs and then drive the Touareg, you'll definitely notice the difference.

Hi there! I'm glad to hear that your Touareg TDI has been treating you well! It sounds like you've had a great experience with it so far. I'm impressed by its sedan-like handling and powerful performance, not to mention its fantastic brakes. And it's great to hear that you're getting better mileage than you expected - 22-23 mpg is really impressive! I'm also happy to hear that it's a quiet ride, which I'm sure makes for a more enjoyable driving experience. And towing your small travel trailer with ease? That's amazing! It sounds like the Touareg TDI is a versatile and reliable vehicle. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

This car is excellent! It's incredibly comfortable, with plenty of room for even a 6' 4The automatic driver's seat retraction can be a bit confusing at times, but it's easily stopped by hitting #1 setting on the pre-set seat positions panel. The steering performance is not quite as stable as I'd originally thought, particularly during long, sweeping curves at medium speeds, but it's fine for city driving, with an especially tight steering radius for getting in and out of parking spots. However, the Touareg is still a very comfortable vehicle for long distance driving, particularly if you're tall. Occasional back seat passengers often comment about the extra leg room as opposed to the competition. The passenger seat back goes down almost to a sleeping position (almost flat), and that's a bonus for shared long distance driving. All-around visibility is very good. Stability in windy conditions is very good. Pick-up is very, VERY good. Overall, I still enjoy the Touareg enormously and look forward to driving it. (All that said, my wife recently bought a 2016 Mercedes GLC but still This feature is especially useful for passing, highway entrance ramps, and for a quick burst to escape those 'awkward' high-speed traffic situations created by the crazy drivers we all know about. If I were the protesting type, I might put on a sandwich board that says 'Please Don't Take My Touareg Away!' and march outside the EPA headquarters.

I drove a pickup truck for 25 years before I decided to switch to a new car. After owning a 2014 Volvo S60 T6 for six years, I wanted something different. I looked at various cars, but the Touareg kept catching my eye. I spent a month searching and test drove several TDI's, but I wanted a car with fewer miles. Unfortunately, the TDI's available had 60-70,000 miles on them, and I couldn't find any with less. Eventually, I found a 2014 VR6 R-Line in mint condition with only 42,000 miles, and I fell in love with it. The R-Line was only available in the states for the 2014 model year, in both VR6 and TDI versions. While people rave about the TDI's, I'm not a mechanic, and I felt more comfortable buying the VR6. It has plenty of power, and the only downside is that it requires premium fuel. With a 26-gallon tank, the extra cost per gallon adds up. I love everything about it, from its performance to the quality of everything in the interior. It has a huge panoramic sunroof, a great stereo system, and navigation. Everything seems a step up and rock solid, and it handles great for an SUV. I think it's a really sharp vehicle, and I don't envy anyone regardless of what they're driving when I'm in it. You should try one - I'm sure you'll love it!

I purchased a 2013 Touareg TDI Lux a month ago, but unfortunately, it has been in the shop for 17 days due to an irreparable steering wheel oscillation. Despite the efforts of the local dealer and VWoA, the issue has not been resolved. I have found that other owners have experienced the same problem and have had difficulty finding a satisfactory resolution. If you search for 'Touareg steering problem', you can find more information on this issue. I am hoping for a quick and easy resolution, as I would love to be able to enjoy my new car without any further hassle.

The car has been a reliable companion for a long time, but unfortunately, it has recently experienced some issues with leaking radiator coolant. Despite having to take it in for repairs a few times, I'm confident that it will be back to its old self soon. The repair bill is a bit steep, but I trust that the mechanics are doing their best to fix the issue. I appreciate their hard work and dedication to getting my car back on the road. Thank you for your help!

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my 2013 VW Touareg VR6 LUX that I purchased about 4 weeks ago. Unfortunately, I noticed that between the speeds of 60 and 75 mph, the steering wheel would shake back and forth, and the car would pull to the right. Additionally, there was a vibration in the seat. I took it to the dealer, and they've had it for 3 weeks now. They've tried many different things, including balancing the tires, but the issue still persists. VW is currently blaming the tires and has refused to attempt any more repairs. They've told me to pick up the car, but the issue is still present. I'm hoping we can find a solution soon. Thank you for your time!

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with Volkswagen's factory sunroofs. Unfortunately, I've had some trouble with leaks in earlier production cars, and it seems that the problem still persists with the touareg. I've taken my car to the dealer to get it repaired, but they claimed it was fixed when it wasn't. I'm headed back to the dealer again, but I can't help but think it would be better if Volkswagen just corrected the issue. While it's a nice car, I don't think it's worth the problems. If you're in the market for a car in its class, I would certainly recommend looking at other options unless you want to spend a lot of time at the service department in the first year of ownership.

The car is well engineered and runs great, but unfortunately politics are having a negative impact on it.
