The sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series consists of the BMW F30 (sedan version), BMW F31 (wagon version, marketed as 'Touring') and BMW F34 (fastback version, marketed as 'Gran Turismo') compact executive cars. The F30/F31/F34 generation was produced from October 2011 to 2019 and is often collectively referred to as the F30.

A long-wheelbase sedan version (model code F35) was sold in China.

The M3 model (designated F80) was introduced in 2014 and is powered by the S55 twin-turbocharged straight-six engine.

In March 2019, the BMW 3 Series (G20) was released as the successor to the F30. But the F34 fastback model continued to be available until early 2020. Later, it was replaced by BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé (G26) in June 2021.

MY CAR HAS BREMI MODEL COILS (PART NO. F3000-86682) AND THERE IS NO BOSCH SUBSTITUTE ACCORDING TO THE BMW DEALER (PLAZA MOTORS IN ST. LOUIS, MO).   • Summary: IT HAPPENED AT 3:50 PM, PACIFIC STANDARD TIME, JANURAY 26, 2001, FREEWAY 91 HEADING EAST, PASSED FREEYWAY 710, AT THE EXIT OF ATLANTIC. I WAS LUCKY TO PULL OVER AND MY COLLEAGUE WAS FOLLOWED ME AT THE INCIDENT HAPPENED. SHE WITNESSED EVERY THING. THE METRO (MTA) TOW TRUCK PASSED BY 15 MINUTES LATER AND CHANGED THE SPARE TIRE FOR ME. A PIECE OF TIRE WAS FLYING AWAY AND CAUSED THE MUFFLER AND THE LEFT SIDE REAR BUMPER SEVERE DAMAGE. I HAVE TAKEN A ROLL OF PICTURES AFTERWARDS. I WILL SEND YOU A DETAILED TIRE'S SPEC. HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES, AND WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. BEEN TO DEALERSHIP, AND MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM, WILL NOT REPAIR IT. MANUFACTURER AGREED WITH DEALERSHIP, AND POLICY WAS TO RETURN VEHICLE IF NOT REPAIRABLE.*AK

TIRES PROBLEM

  • Summary: TIRE TREAD CAME OFF DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE REAR BUMPER. THE TIRE DID NOT DEFLATE. CONTINENTAL DENIED CLAIM BECAUSE THE TIRE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED FOR A PUNCTURE. THE PUNCTURE REPAIR REMAINED INTACT AND AS FAR AS I COULD SEE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE LOSS OF THE TREAD. CONTINENTAL TOLD ME THAT THE TIRE WAS LIKELY TO FAIL (TREAD COME OFF) SOONER OR LATER BECAUSE OF THE PUNCTURE REPAIR. I FIND THIS STATEMENT TO BE INCREDULOUS AS I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED IN ANY OF THEIR SERVICE MANUALS THAT REPAIRING A PUNCTURE WOULD RENDER THE TIRE UNUSEABLE. IF I HAD KNOW THAT I WOULD HAVE HAD THE TIRE REPLACED (SILLY AS THAT SEEMS). AT THE VERY LEAST CONTNENTAL SHOULD BE FORCED TO NOTIFY ALL OF THE USERS OF ITS TIRES THAT ANY SORT OF PUNCTURE - EVEN IF IT IS PROPERLY REPAIRED - MAKES THE TIRE UNFIT FOR THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. WE WERE NOT INJURED IN THE INCIDENT BUT WE WERE ALMOST KILLED AS I TEMPORARILY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. (DOT NUMBER: ACTM2Y7136 TIRESIZE: 205/60R15)
