Hey there! If you're a tall driver, you'll love the ample leg room in this car. However, the back seat is a bit cramped. The cup holders could be more user-friendly, but overall it's a great car. Just keep in mind that repairs can be expensive and scheduling service can be a bit of a hassle. Also, be aware that non-VW stations may not be able to service it due to standardized malfunction codes (there's actually a pending lawsuit about this). Finally, make sure to 'click' the gas cap to avoid the Service Engine light coming on. Oh, and if you're looking for some extra power, go for the manual shift! Hope this helps.

I confidently purchased my dream car, a red '99 Cabrio, from a VW dealership in 1998. As a skilled driver, I have taken excellent care of this 5-speed beauty, keeping it garaged for most of its life. The exterior and interior still look almost brand new. Despite experiencing a power failure of the lights, I contacted VW for assistance, only to be informed that my VIN did not match their recall list. However, in 2007, my car experienced the same issues described in the recall, which caused a dangerous situation while driving on an interstate. I had to pay $1,700 for each repair, including the power boost on the passenger side for the convertible top, which failed in 2007, and the driver side, which failed recently. Despite these setbacks, I remain confident that my car will last me forever!

This is a used car, but don't worry, it's still in great condition! I especially enjoy driving it on sunny summer days. It may run a bit slower in the city, but it really picks up speed on the highway. However, it's worth noting that there may be some issues after 100,000kms, such as the light bulb not always working properly and the parts being a bit pricier than those for Japanese cars. Despite these minor drawbacks, I still believe that VW produces high-quality cars.

However, I've always admired the Cabrio's appearance and now that I've owned one for over two years, I love it even more. I have been experiencing some frustration with my vehicle. I purchased this car used in 2006 and unfortunately, it has been nothing but problems since day one. Every time it goes into the shop, I end up spending no less than $1k. It seems like everything that could break, bust, freeze, etc. has happened. I've even lost numerous hubcaps (strange, I realize). One day while driving, the interior light switch just fell off and another day the glove box handle popped off and landed in the floorboard. The interior fabric is like velcro, which makes it difficult to clean. Despite all of this, everyone still thinks it's 'cute'...I remember when I thought that too. However, now I would love to drive it into a concrete wall.

My wife bought this car a few months before we met. It's been a great little car to drive around town in. It handles well, and gets excellent gas mileage (32 mpg in mixed city driving). The convertible top is also very easy to operate. Unfortunately, the car is not very well-built. The power windows don't work properly, the interior is falling apart, and to top it off, the transmission failed at under 55,000 miles (5-speed manual). You can learn more about the 'Self Machining Syndrome' by searching online, which affects Golfs and Jettas too.

The car looks great and is fun to drive. However, there have been some issues with the car such as the outside door trim falling off, window trim warping causing rain to leak in, a leak at the driver's visor, and the backseat flooding when it rains. Additionally, there have been some mechanical issues such as a coolant leak and a transmission failure at 115,000 miles. The electrical also went out at 89,000 miles. Luckily, my dad has been able to do a lot of the work himself and the parts store in our town knows him by name. Despite these issues, the car has been a reliable mode of transportation.

The convertible top has dry rotted and ripped, but as a confident solution, VW is obligated to assist us due to the class action lawsuit. Despite the dealer's initial resistance, we will ensure that the issue is resolved promptly. Although there have been other minor issues such as the door slamming shut and broken cup holder, we are confident that these can be easily addressed. We understand that these issues can be frustrating, but we assure you that we will do everything in our power to make things right. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention.

Don't let its cute appearance fool you. Although Volkswagen no longer makes these cars, they still have their charm. Unfortunately, I experienced some issues with mine right after the 25,000 mile factory warranty expired. However, I have to say that the repairs were handled efficiently by the VW or Audi dealer service departments. It is worth noting that the Cabrio may not be the best car for winter driving, especially in snowy and slushy conditions.
