- Summary: HELLO, I CONTACTED YOU ABOUT 2 YRS AGO WITHOUT F/U DUE TO RECOVERY FROM INJURIES. NOW I HAVE MY CASE ON THE DOCKET TO SUE VW FOR FAULTY DISC/HUB ASSEMBLY THAT SEPARATED DUE TO CORROSION. I HAVE THE PARTS AND PHOTOS TO SUBMIT. I INJURED MY RIGHT ANKLE ON JULY 9, 2009 WHEN THE WHEEL DETACHED FROM MY CAR WITHOUT WARNING AND AFTER IT HAD BEEN RECENTLY INSPECTED AND CLEANED BY BRAKE KING. SIMILAR TO THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE RECALL SINCE I OWNED ONE AND HAD THE HUB/DISC ASSEMBLY REPLACED BY STAINLESS STEEL ASSEMBLY. I WISH TO CONTINUE THIS INVESTIGATION SO THAT OTHERS ARE NOT INJURED HEAVEN FORBID. NOW I AM READY TO HANDLE THE CASE IN COURT AND AM PREPARING FOR THE TRIAL. I bought the Cabrio to have for driving in the summer months (Explorer in the winter) and I absolutely love it! Although it could use a little more pick up on the engine, overall, it is very comfortable, cute (love the roll bar), and practical to drive. The back seat is roomier than other convertibles and the VW handling is excellent.

It's been almost 5 years since I got my VW Cabrio. Unfortunately, the top had a defect and started to rip, but VW didn't want to cover it under warranty. Despite this, I've had a few other issues with the car. At times, the car would brake and lock up, but VW couldn't find anything wrong until I mentioned the possibility of a lawsuit. Since then, the issue hasn't occurred again. The leather seats in the front started cracking, so I had to put seat covers on them. The engine light comes on occasionally, but when VW looks at it, they can never seem to find the problem. Lastly, the cruise control no longer works and the car revs up when you try to stop. Overall, it's been a bit of a bumpy ride with this car, but I'm still grateful for the memories we've made together.

I've had a lot of fun driving this zippy little convertible! The 5-speed transmission is a blast to use. Even after 96000 miles, this car has been a dream to maintain, only requiring regular routine maintenance like oil changes and scheduled tuneups. At around 60000 miles, it needed a new muffler/pipe, and at 95000 miles, I replaced two worn belts and the timing belt preventatively. Other than that, this car has taken care of itself! :) The seats may be a bit small for someone with a bigger fanny, but they're still comfy. Unfortunately, the covering on the interior door handles peeled early on, and I wasn't too pleased with how VW handled that. But overall, I've had a great experience with this car!

I've had some issues with it. The car is now 5 years old, and has 43,000 miles on it. I've had to deal with a few problems, such as the door moldings falling off continuously. VW will reattach new ones at about 70 dollars per, but you'll need it done every 6-8 months. Additionally, the cruise control failed and had to be replaced, the power steering fluid reservoir had to be replaced, the transmission linkage broke and had to be replaced, the air conditioner failed completely and had to be replaced, and the driver's side seat fell apart and had to be replaced. There may be more issues that I haven't mentioned here.

"shame on me" ! I ordered this car online ... ran the CARFAX (ccame out "clean"). What a beauty she was when she arived- just screamed FUN ! .... wrong answer ! Has been a true to life money pit ! We dropped about 1 K in it as soon as it arrived ( changing oil, hoses- you name it !). But had/still has electrical problems that baffle everyone !!! It's been a spooky, fun, totally un-predictable lil car to drive. After dumping over 2k in the car - we are now trying to sell it= gulllpppp.

I bought this car used and it's been super fun to drive. However, I've found that parts can be quite expensive and I've received some advice from my VW service provider that they may not be the best long-term investment. As someone who keeps their cars for a long time, I've decided that I won't be purchasing a Cabrio or any other VW in the future. Just something to keep in mind if you're considering a purchase!
