2004 Toyota Land cruiser problems
The Toyota Land Cruiser (Japanese: トヨタ・ランドクルーザー, Hepburn: Toyota Rando-Kurūzā) (also sometimes spelled as LandCruiser) is a series of four-wheel drive vehicles produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota. It is Toyota's longest running series of models. As of 2019, the sales of the Land Cruiser totalled more than 10 million units worldwide.
Production of the first generation of the Land Cruiser began in 1951. The Land Cruiser has been produced in convertible, hardtop, station wagon and cab chassis body styles. The Land Cruiser's reliability and longevity have led to huge popularity, especially in Australia, where it is the best-selling body-on-frame, four-wheel drive vehicle. Toyota also extensively tests the Land Cruiser in the Australian outback – considered to be one of the toughest operating environments in both temperature and terrain. In Japan, the Land Cruiser was once exclusive to Toyota Japanese dealerships called Toyota Store.
Since 1990, the smaller variation of the Land Cruiser has been marketed as the Land Cruiser Prado. Described as a 'light-duty' version of the Land Cruiser by Toyota, it features a different design compared to the full-size model and, up until 2023, it remains the only comfort-oriented Land Cruiser available with a short-wheelbase 3-door version.
As of 2023, the full-size Land Cruiser was available in many markets. Exceptions include the United States (since 2021), Canada (since 1996), Malaysia (which receives the Lexus LX instead), Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Brazil, and most of Europe. In Europe, the only countries where the full-size Land Cruiser is officially sold are Gibraltar, Moldova, Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. The Land Cruiser is hugely popular in the Middle East, Russia, and Australia, and also in Africa where it is used by farmers, the construction industry, non-governmental and humanitarian organizations, the United Nations, national armies (often the pickup version), and irregular armed groups who turn them into "technicals" by mounting machine guns in the rear. In August 2019, cumulative global sales of the Land Cruiser family surpassed 10 million units.

Common 2004 Toyota Land cruiser problems
The Toyota Land Cruiser 2004 is generally considered a reliable vehicle, with few major problems reported by owners. However, there are a few common issues that have been noted with the Land Cruiser, particularly in later models.
One common problem reported with the Land Cruiser is rough shifting, which has been reported in the 2016 model year.
Another common issue reported with the Land Cruiser is problems with the automatic gearbox. If the Land Cruiser is struggling when changing gears, it may be due to issues with the selectors. This can be a major issue when changing gears manually. While this problem is not specifically reported for the 2004 model, it is worth noting as a potential issue that could affect other model years as well.
The Land Cruiser is also known to have issues with the EGR valve, which can prevent the N0x treatment system from working properly. This can cause rough idling and a noticeable drop in driving performance. This problem is reported to affect all models of the Land Cruiser that use AdBlue.
Shock absorber failure is also a common problem reported with the Land Cruiser. If you are experiencing issues with the suspension, it may be due to leaking shock absorbers. This problem is reported to affect all models of the Land Cruiser.
The Land Cruiser is also known to have issues with the air conditioning system. If the air conditioning is not working on all settings, it may be due to a fractured pipe. This problem is reported to affect all models of the Land Cruiser.
Finally, the Land Cruiser is known to have issues with the brake vacuum pump. If you are experiencing increased stopping distances, it may be due to worn down rotor blades on the brake vacuum pump. This problem is reported to affect all models of the Land Cruiser.
While the 2004 model year of the Toyota Land Cruiser is generally considered reliable, these common issues are worth noting as potential problems that could affect other model years as well. Regular maintenance and inspections can help to identify and address these issues before they become major problems.

My family and I have traveled halfway across the country in our 'Land Crusher', as we like to call it, and we couldn't be happier. The comfort and handling of this vehicle is like driving on air. We are so pleased with it that we have another one on order. It's definitely worth the price.

I really enjoy driving my Land Cruiser, it's definitely the best vehicle I've ever owned, and that's saying something considering I've owned both a Lexus and a Mercedes. If you have the opportunity to purchase one of these, I highly recommend it. Don't worry about the price, it's worth every penny and more! I absolutely love it!
