The name is derived from the German word klug, which means smart or clever (Klüger – with diacritics – means "someone who is smarter than another" in German).

- Summary: I have had problems with the brakes since I bought the vehicle new in 2016. I have the brakes checked every year and when I had problems but they never found the problem why the brakes do not work. The worse accident was on November 19, 2022 when my wife was using the car. She was in the car alone. She went to brake and the brakes did not engage, she slammed on the brakes 4 times and the car did not even slow down and she rear-ended the car in front of her. The air bags did not engage and she was injured. The brakes do not always work, I have gone through stop signs and red lights but the dealership says there is no problem.

- Summary: 2 years ago I pulled my car, that was backed into the driveway out to turn it around to face in to the garage. As I pulled forward going very slowly I pressed on the brakes and the rubber pad on the pedal came off and caused my foot to come off of the pedal. I hit my wife's car and caused some slight damage to my car and to hers. I contacted Toyota and they had my car inspected and gave me a report that the brakes worked fine. I have not replaced the rubber pad, because I am afraid the cover will come off again in a similar matter. I explained this to Toyota but they closed the case of my complaint. I believe this is a danger that can cause an accident.

A separation could be seen in the outer casing about .25" above the rim line radiating and following the rim line. Tires were also exhibiting constant minor air leakage through the sidewalls. Testing indicated no punctures in the tread areas of the tires. Tires were inspected and found defective and replaced by tire dealer. Dealer took photos of the tires and one was retained for further inspection.

I understand that this happens relatively frequently, but no recall has been issued. I have reached out to insurance and will likely be filing a claim if Toyota doesn't cover it. No party has inspected at this point. There was no warning to this.

- Summary: I had bought my vehicle 5 months ago in an authorized Toyota dealer, on Easter Day we got on the vehicle drove 15 minutes from home to the park, parked my vehicle, turn it off and went to the park are next to where my vehicle was parked, from where i was sitting i was able to see my vehicle and we wasn't that far, not even 5 minutes after that i walked near the vehicle and notice it was on fire. No light was on in the dashboard, everything was working fine, the vehicle just had an oil change at the begging March 2022 and now in April 2022 it caught fire. This was my dream vehicle and i worked hard to get it. Fire fighters arrived at the scene, police department as well, the police gave me a report number, also a fire department investigator was called to the scene where he certified it was a short circuit and gave me a report number as well.

The problem has been seen all over toyota forum and a quick google search will provide adequate evidence or recurring problem with this vehicle and similar vehicle with the same tail light manufacturer. Some people has brought their car to the dealerships under warranty for the same issue. I thought these will resolve itself but it has not. So I'm submitting request for recall to solve these problem since removing the housing is a difficult task and might cause more electrical problems.

- Summary: After shopping, we went to open the trunk of our Highlander by pressing the button. As it opened, we heard a crunching sound from the top but the trunk continued to open. It then reached the point where suddenly the top spoiler was dislodged and the back window's glass exploded outward in a thousand small pieces all over my husband. At no point did a safety mechanism turn on to stop the trunk from opening. We had a few prior experiences with the trunk failing to stop if something was in its way, demonstrating that there is an issue with the sensor or there is no sensory system in the car that would prevent it from crushing something or someone. After contacting Toyota, they stated that this was not covered under the warranty of the vehicle.

This 2015 Highlander Limited Hybrid Platinum is a fantastic SUV with a car-like ride and excellent gas mileage. Everything works perfectly, and despite having 130,458 miles on it, the overall condition is like new. I highly recommend this vehicle. As someone with 4 Toyotas in my family, including a 2004 Toyota Four Runner with 378,134 miles on it and no engine or transmission problems, I can attest to the unbeatable Toyota reliability.

This vehicle may not be the most affordable option, but it is definitely worth the investment. It offers a smooth and comfortable ride, and if driven carefully, it can achieve excellent fuel efficiency. On my trip home from Mammoth mountain, I was able to get an impressive 34mpg despite using AWD and cables.

This vehicle is an excellent hauler with a comfortable interior and ample storage space. While larger openings for loading larger items would be beneficial, the current size is still suitable. Although the gas mileage could be improved, it is comparable to other vehicles in its class. Overall, this vehicle is highly satisfactory.

It's a nice car for the right price, but it could use some premium features. The advanced safety features are minimal and the premium features aren't as premium as they could be (for example, the heated steering wheel only heats the top and bottom). The premium audio is subpar and the chrome rims are actually hubcaps. Additionally, there are no frontal collision or parking sensors, and the climate control auto function doesn't work well. The Bluetooth connectivity also does a poor job connecting with iPhones, and the Entune/Apps don't work (although there are workarounds for Pandora via B/T connection, the app in the car doesn't work). The GPS can also be confusing. The gas mileage from the hybrid averages closer to 17 in the city and 22 in the suburbs. However, for the right price (around $40k or $42k new), I would overlook most of these issues. It's a nice car, but not worth a premium price. If technology is important to you, consider another car. We should have bought the MDX, Volvo XC90, or the Explorer.

I purchased this car as we needed a third row, after having a Lexus SUV for several years. Unfortunately, the DVD remote control was missing, but after contacting the salesman, he kindly sent it to us. During the year that we have had the car, we experienced a few issues such as a small crack in the windshield which quickly spread and required replacement. Additionally, both front tires went flat at different times and needed to be replaced. We have also noticed that the Bluetooth system connecting the iPhone needs to be reset almost every time the car is restarted, and the DVD system occasionally loses sound. Despite these issues, we are still satisfied with our purchase and appreciate the extra space the third row provides.
