2007 Suzuki Reno problems
The Daewoo Lacetti is a compact car manufactured and marketed globally by GM Korea since 2002. The first-generation Lacetti was available as a four-door sedan and five-door station wagon, styled by Pininfarina—and five-door hatchback styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro. The sedan and wagon were marketed as the Daewoo Nubira in some European markets and as the Suzuki Forenza in North America. The hatchback, was introduced in 2004 and marketed as Daewoo Lacetti5 in South Korea, Suzuki Reno in the United States. After the 2004 model year, it was marketed as Chevrolet Nubira and Lacetti in Europe, as the Chevrolet Optra in Canada, Latin America, Africa, Middle East, India, Japan and Southeast Asia, and as the Holden Viva in Australia and New Zealand.
In 2008, the second-generation Lacetti was launched as the Daewoo Lacetti Premiere, a badge-engineered version of the Chevrolet Cruze, co-developed by GM Daewoo, Holden, and General Motors. It was marketed under the Daewoo marque until the beginning of 2011, when the brand was discontinued, and was thereafter marketed under the Chevrolet and Holden brands.
The name Lacetti derives from the Latin "Lacertus", meaning "youthful".

Common 2007 Suzuki Reno problems
The Suzuki Reno, produced between 2004 and 2008, is known for several common problems based on complaints from owners. These issues include:
- Transmission and Electrical Problems: Some owners have reported significant transmission issues, including bad sensors and computers, which can lead to the vehicle spending more time in the shop than on the road. This issue is attributed to a melted splice pack that connects the power circuits for the headlamp, potentially leading to intermittent or total loss of low/high beam headlamp function and increased crash risk.
- Engine Issues: The Reno's engine has been a source of frustration for some owners, with 15 complaints filed over 4 model years, primarily concerning engine problems.
- Airbags and Seat Belts: Two complaints have been filed regarding airbags and seat belts, indicating potential issues with these safety features.
- Brakes: One complaint has been made about brakes, suggesting that there may be some concerns with the vehicle's braking system.
- Exterior and Trunk Issues: Three complaints have been filed regarding exterior problems, including the trunk not staying closed, and lights going out intermittently.
- Timing Chain Guides: Some owners have reported issues with timing chain guides, which can be challenging to find for the Reno model.
- Headlight Recall: Suzuki has issued a recall for overheating headlight switches and daytime running lamp modules, which could potentially lead to headlamp failure and even vehicle fires.
These common problems with the Suzuki Reno can significantly impact the vehicle's reliability and safety. Owners are encouraged to address these issues promptly to ensure the vehicle remains safe and roadworthy.

2007 Suzuki Reno recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 2 recalls for different components of the 2007 Suzuki Reno.
- Manufacturer: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc.
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS
- Summary: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Forenza vehicles, and 2005-2008 Reno vehicles manufactured from September 1, 2003, through July 30, 2008. In the affected vehicles, heat may be generated in the headlamp switch or daytime running light (DRL) module which could melt the headlamp switch or the DRL module.
- Consequence: If the heat generated within the headlamp switch or DRL module located on the left side of the steering column melts the headlamp switch or DRL module, there is an increased risk of a fire.
- Remedy: Suzuki will replace the signal switch and add a jumper relay kit and will replace the DRL Module in teh instrument panel harness. Suzuki distributed to owners an interim letter on July 30, 2014. The recall began October 29, 2014. Owners may contact Suzuki at 1-800-934-0934. Suzuki's number for this recall is XA.
- Manufacturer: AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORP.
- Components: SEAT BELTS:FRONT:BUCKLE ASSEMBLY
- Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE FRONT SEAT BELT TONGUE WILL NOT LATCH INTO THE BUCKLE AND, IN RARE CASES, EVEN THE LOCKED TONGUE WILL POP OUT BY LOW STRETCHING FORCE. IF THE BUCKLE DOES NOT LATCH COMPLETELY, THE BUCKLE COULD RELEASE WITHOUT PRESSING THE RELEASE BUTTON.
- Consequence: THESE BUCKLE MALFUNCTIONS, WHICH COULD PREVENT A PERSON FROM USING THE SEAT BELT OR COULD CAUSE THE SEAT BELT TO FAIL TO FUNCTION AS DESIGNED, CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY IN A CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT BELT BUCKLES WITH THE IMPROVED PART FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 31, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SUZUKI AT 1-800-934-0934.

The Reno is a fantastic car with stunning Italian design. It boasts more power than the Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, Scion xA or XB, and the Chevrolet Aveo, as well as more standard features and a longer warranty. I purchased this car for well below invoice and I absolutely adore it. You simply cannot find a better value. If you compare it piece by piece to the others, you will see for yourself.
-
Firstly, I want to express my love for this car. However, I have encountered some issues that can be frustrating at times. During the first 6 months of owning it, I had trouble starting it, which the dealership was unable to fix, but fortunately, it stopped happening. I also experienced an airflow problem, which was quite scary. The low-profile tires wore out at 24000, and I have been having continuous issues with the airbag sensor, which the mechanics have been unable to resolve. Recently, I was informed that it may require a new Serpentine belt soon. Despite these issues, the car is enjoyable to drive, sporty, and has decent fuel efficiency. Although the MPG could be better for a car of this size, it is still better than an SUV! If you know how to drive the automatic as a manual, you can really feel the power and speed of the car.

As a salesperson in the car business, I have the opportunity to drive a variety of cars and trucks on a daily basis. Some are nicer, faster, bigger, and tow better than others, but for me, this vehicle is perfect. Working downtown, I needed a small, reliable commuter that was reasonable on gas but still fun to drive, and this car delivers on all fronts. I purchased it with just over 40k miles on it and have had no problems so far. The engine's flat torque curve allows it to pull even in 5th gear, which is unusual for a car this size. I gave it an 8 for reliability due to my short ownership, but I am confident it will continue to perform well. The car handles like a go-cart and winds up nicely, making it a joy to drive. I paid 6k used (it's a 2006), which is a great deal that any customer could have gotten. In terms of value, I would rate it a 10!
-
I couldn't take my eyes off that Reno sitting on a pedestal outside the dealership for about a month. The looks and the price were very attractive. I decided to stop and see how the performance was and, to tell you the truth, I was actually surprised by what that 2.0 liter engine can do. If you're not afraid to put your foot down, it will get you down the road quickly. Anyway, I'm 6'2

I bought this car as a replacement for my 2000 VW. It's an excellent value for the money and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I've even entered it in several autocross events and it has performed better than cars that cost twice as much. The styling is distinctive and has a nice euro touch. The interior is simple, which I prefer, but still has convenient features like power windows, mirrors, and locks. While the suspension is a bit soft (see below), the overall balance is great. If Suzuki could increase the car's horsepower to around 150 bhp and stiffen up the suspension by at least 50%, it would be a hit with hot hatch enthusiasts everywhere.

Hello! Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It sounds like you've had a tough time with your car. We're sorry to hear that you've had so many issues with it. We understand how frustrating it can be when things don't work as they should. We hope that things get better for you soon!

I'm so glad to hear that you love your car! It sounds like you've had a great experience with it so far, with reliable service and no problems to date even after 30 thousand miles. The car's good vision fields and tight, solid ride are definitely impressive, especially considering its size and price point. While it may not be a Lexus, the radio and cruise controls on the steering wheel make it feel like you're getting more than you paid for. It's great to hear that your oldest kid is going off to college soon and wants one for graduation - it sounds like a perfect fit!

The transmission in this car requires improvement. Despite repairing the clutch, there is still too much play and it is difficult to shift at the right RPM for optimal fuel efficiency. As someone who has always driven stick shifts, I am disappointed with the performance of this transmission. With 48,000 miles on the car due to my long commute to work, I would not choose this car again. It falls short of my expectations and I miss my KIA.
Edwardo Kulas 2024-07-14
I purchased the Reno because I was in dire need of a car. However, I regret not doing enough research beforehand. Unfortunately, my car has had starting problems on several occasions and it also gets poor gas mileage for a compact car, averaging about 21 mpg with city and highway driving. On the other hand, a friend of mine owns an '06 Impala that gets 30 mpg with a V6 engine. Although the seats are a bit uncomfortable and the manual transmission is terrible, I wonder how much a decent linkage would cost Suzuki to put in. Additionally, the engine is underpowered. I am considering trading in the car for a Cobalt since the reviews I have read about it are quite positive.
Pablo Lind 2024-06-14
I purchased my car because I needed a four-door due to having a child, but unfortunately, I have had a negative experience with it. I had over $600 in work done, but it did not improve the gas mileage, and I was told it was normal. Additionally, I was not informed about recalls until I called for other issues or heard about them from someone else. The transmission had to be replaced, which took over two weeks and two different transmissions. Unfortunately, the dealer did not call me, and I had to call them to check on the car. My brother also has the same car, and he has had to take it to the shop more than he gets to drive it. In my opinion, I would not recommend buying a Suzuki as I have had a negative experience with it, and they do not seem to care as long as you are making your payments.
