Common 2007 Nissan 350z problems
Based on complaints from owners of the Nissan 350Z 2007, several common problems have been reported. Here is a detailed list of these issues:
- Throttle Body Issues:
- Owners have reported that the throttle body of the 2007 Nissan 350Z is prone to carbon buildup, leading to issues like high idle, erratic idle, and intermittent power surging after cleaning. These problems occur when the car's computer registers too much air, causing the idle to fluctuate and the vehicle to surge forward. Some owners have resolved this by resetting the computer or replacing the throttle body.
- Worn Fuel Damper:
- Complaints have surfaced about worn fuel dampers causing ticking noises in the engine compartment while idling. This issue can lead to the airbag warning light turning on and engine misfires. Replacing the worn fuel damper is the common solution to this problem.
- Engine Problems:
- The 2007 Nissan 350Z has been associated with various engine-related issues, including stalling, excessive oil consumption, crankshaft and camshaft sensor failure, and tapping noises from the engine bay. Some owners have reported engine knocking at relatively low mileage, with some being told it is a "normal" occurrence.
- Timing Chain-Related Problems:
- High-mileage Nissan 350Zs, particularly those with VQ35DE engines, can experience timing chain-related issues. These problems can lead to significant engine malfunctions and require timely intervention to prevent further damage.
- Synchro Wear:
- Synchro wear can cause grinding or crunching sounds during shifting in the 2007 Nissan 350Z. Replacing the synchros or the entire transmission may be necessary to address this issue, with costs varying depending on the gear and the chosen solution.
- Fuel Damper Failure:
- Fuel damper failure can result in engine stalling, misfires, and fuel leaks in the exhaust. While this issue may not be catastrophic, it can impact the car's performance and should be addressed promptly by replacing the faulty part.
- Clicking Driveshafts:
- Clicking noises from the rear axles and driveshafts have been reported in the Nissan 350Z, requiring re-greasing of the splines and collars to eliminate the metal-on-metal contact causing the sounds.
These problems highlight the importance of regular maintenance and prompt attention to any issues that arise with the Nissan 350Z 2007 to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the vehicle.
Is a 2007 350Z reliable?
Outside of a known issue with the radiator fan, this car has been super reliable. The window motors were replaced as they got to where they struggled a bit.
What is the most common problem with a 350Z?
Problem: The Nissan 350Z is known for having weak paintwork. This is the case especially around the bumper, fuel filler cap and the bonnet areas. When the paint gets chipped it usually leads to rust.
Is 350Z good or bad?
The Nissan 350Z enjoys above-average reliability, with some of its model years scoring better than others. Cars.com gave it a rating of 4.8 out of 5.0, with 100% of the drivers on its site recommending it.
Is Nissan 350Z a bad first car?
In conclusion, the Nissan 350Z can be a great first car for drivers who are looking for a car that is fun to drive and has impressive performance. However, the car may not be the best choice for new drivers or those who are on a tight budget.

POWER TRAIN,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2015-04-13
- VIN: JN1BZ34E87M
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
- Summary: THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE CLUTCH BEING FAULTY. IT LOSES PRESSURE EVERY NOW AND THEN, AND I HAVE TO PICK UP THE CLUTCH WITH MY FOOT MANUALLY OFF THE FLOOR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED ON ALL 2007 AND 2008 350Z'S. NISSAN CHANGED THE CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER AND MASTER CLUTCH CYLINDERS FROM 2007 TO 2008, HENCE ONLY THESE MODEL YEARS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY DID RECALL A CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER BUT EVEN AFTER THEY DID THAT, IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. IF YOU REPLACE A PART WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART IT WILL BREAK DOWN AGAIN AND AGAIN... I'VE CALCULATED HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO GET A NEW CLUTCH AND REPLACE ALL THE DEFECTIVE PARTS WITH STRONGER PARTS THAT PEOPLE HAVE USED AND REVIEWED OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. IT WILL COST ME ABOUT $2000 JUST TO GET THE CLUTCH PARTS AND INSTALLATION. THIS IS RIDICULOUS FOR SOMETHING THAT HAS SUCH AN IMPORTANT JOB IN A CAR. IF THE CLUTCH PEDAL LOSES PRESSURE OR GOES DOWN AND DOESN'T COME BACK UP, YOU CAN GET IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR EVEN WORSE, DEATH. PLEASE HELP US 350Z OWNERS AND ENSURE THAT THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDES SAFETY IN THESE VEHICLES.. *TR
AIR BAGS PROBLEM

- Summary: MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON MY DASH AND I WENT TO NEW CITY NISSAN TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM WAS THE SUBJECT OF A MASSIVE RECALL THAT BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 4, 2008 THAT INCLUDED THE NISSAN 350Z'S MADE IN 2007-2008 UNDER THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 08V521000. THE DEALERSHIP OFFERED TO REPLACE THE SEAT ASSEMBLY FOR $2630 PLUS TAX. I INSTEAD CALLED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA WITH MY PROBLEM, CASE NUMBER 14605979 THAT WAS HANDLED BY PAUL SMITH. I WAS TOLD THAT MY AUTOMOBILE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND THAT ANY COST TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM WOULD BE OUT OF MY POCKET. I DID NOT PURCHASE THE CAR UNTIL SEP. 2009 AND WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF ANY RECALL BY THE DEALERSHIP AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. AT THE PRESENT, MY CAR CANNOT PASS A SAFETY INSPECTION AND THE OUTRAGEOUS COST OF REPAIR FOR A PROBLEM ALREADY IDENTIFIED BY THE AUTO MAKER IS PROHIBITIVE ON MY RETIREMENT INCOME. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT WILL NOT GO AWAY. *TR
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-07-03

- Summary: ON 07/02/14 I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WHEN I APPROACHED A RED LIGHT NEAR MY RESIDENCE PUSHED THE CLUTCH IN AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND CLUTCH DID NOT ENGAGE ALMOST CAUSING A COLLISION. I WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY DRIVE HOME TO TRY AND FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE. I CHECKED THE FLUID IN THE CLUTCH CYLINDER AND IT WAS NEARLY EMPTY. I FILLED IT UP WITH DOT 3 BRAKE FLUID AND THE CLUTCH STARTED TO WORK SOME BUT THEN THE FLUID LEAKED OUT AGAIN.THE NEXT MORNING I GOT INTO THE CAR TO GO TO WORK AND THE CLUTCH WENT TO THE FLOOR AGAIN. I DROVE THE CAR TO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. ON 7/3/14 I CALLED NISSAN CORPORATION AND EXPLAINED THAT ACCORDING TO THE INTERNET THEIR HAD BEEN A RE-CALL ON THE SLAVE CYLINDER(WHICH CAUSES THIS PROBLEM TO OCCUR) AND I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE MY CAR REPAIRED AT THEIR EXPENSE. I LEFT MY CAR AT SHEEHEY NISSAN IN WALDORF MD WITH SERVICE ADVISOR [XXX] (301-843-5300) WHO STATED THEY WOULD HAVE TO LOOK THE CAR OVER TO DETERMINE IF THE MALFUNCTIONING PART IS THE SLAVE CYLINDER. ON 7/3/14 I SPOKE WITH [XXX] AT 1-800-647-7261 EXT 457390 CLAIM# [XXX] (NISSAN CORP) SHE ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO CONFIRM THE ISSUE THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP AND THEN THE INFORMATION WOULD BE FORWARDED UP TO THE REGIONAL DIST. OFFICE TO DETERMINE IF NISSAN WOULD REPAIR MY VEHICLE.TWO DAYS LATER I WAS CONTACTED BY [XXX] (1-800-343-6913 EXT [XXX]) FROM THE REGIONAL OFFICE AND SHE EXPLAINED THAT DUE TO THE CAR'S AGE AND BEING OUT OF WARRANTY THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR MY VEHICLE. PLEASE REVIEW AND ASSIST ME WITH A PROBLEM THAT COULD CAUSE SOMEONE TO LOSE THEIR LIFE. NISSAN SHOULD HAVE TO HONOR THE RE-CALL NOTWITHSTANDING IT BEING OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY. A RECALL IS A RECALL ACKNOWLEDGING THAT THE PART IS FAULTY AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED AT THEIR EXPENSE. PLEASE ASSIST. THANK YOU. Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I noticed that you mentioned some concerns about the car in the professional reviews by Edmunds. However, I wanted to share my personal experience with you. I've been driving this car for a year now, even in the winter with winter tires and different rims, and I have to say that it's definitely a great daily driver car, even here in NE Ohio. The sport suspension and killer looks never fail to impress, and I even added the NISMO intake kit for an even better sound. It's just as good a ride as any performance car out there. Of course, everyone has their own preferences, but I've driven 14K miles in this car and I absolutely love it. Thanks for reading!
Issac Pfannerstill 2024-11-25
I am so glad I chose the Z! Mine is black with a soft top. The lines are sleek and powerful, and the factory rims are phenomenal. I wouldn't trade rims with my colleague who owns a 911 for anything. The ride is smooth and the engine is extremely responsive. Honestly, the car is almost too quick for me, but I am steadily getting acclimated. I absolutely love the car and I would highly recommend it over any of the other roadsters I see floating around the roadways.
Clemens Kovacek 2024-11-22
Beautiful car! It has very athletic handling and performance. I love the leather seats, navigation, and Bluetooth. This car definitely exceeded my expectations.
Flavio Zboncak 2024-11-18
I just wanted to share that I recently purchased a 2007 350Z Touring Roadster and I am absolutely thrilled with it! As someone who has owned several Nissan cars, including the Altima and Sentra Spec V, I can confidently say that the 350Z blows them out of the water. Of course, as a sports car, I expected the fuel economy to be what it is, but it's a small price to pay for such an amazing driving experience.
Joel Mills 2024-11-18
I bought a 6spd
