The Mercury Monterey is a series of full-size cars that were manufactured and marketed by the Mercury division of Ford from 1950 to 1974. Deriving its name from Monterey Bay, the initial Mercury Monterey served as the top-of-the-line two-door sedan model for 1950 and 1951 to compete with the hardtop models of Oldsmobile and Buick. It came with a vinyl roof covering, upgraded upholstery, and other features. The hardtop was introduced for 1952. During its production, the Monterey would be offered in multiple body styles, ranging from coupes, convertibles, sedans, hardtops, and station wagons.
Over its 22 years of production, the Monterey served variously as the flagship, mid-range, and entry-level offering of the full-size Mercury product range. The only Mercury nameplate to be in continuous production throughout the 1960s, the Monterey was positioned above the Medalist, Custom, and Meteor; later, it was positioned below the Turnpike Cruiser, Montclair, Park Lane, and finally the Marquis.
Following the 1974 model year, Mercury discontinued the Monterey, consolidating its full-size range down to the Marquis and Colony Park station wagon. For 2004, the Monterey nameplate was revived, becoming the counterpart of the Ford Freestar minivan; it was produced through the 2007 model year.

- Summary: Ford is recalling certain model year 2004-2007 Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles manufactured from March 24, 2003, through November 7, 2006, equipped with a third row seat and originally sold in, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. The third row stowable seat can experience corrosion and structural degradation at the seat anchor mechanism mounted to the rear wheel wells. As a result of the corrosion, the third row seat may not fully latch into its seating position.
- Consequence: In the event that the vehicle is crashed into from the rear, an unlatched seat may increase the risk of personal injury.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install new third row seat latch striker mounting brackets, free of charge. The recall began on March 28, 2013. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.

DUE TO INCORRECT DESIGN, THE QUICK CONNECTORS MAY NOT FULLY SEAT WITH THE TUBE INTERFACE, EVEN THOUGH THE PERSON MAKING THE CONNECTION MAY BELIEVE THAT THE QUICK CONNECTOR IS FULLY ATTACHED.
- Consequence: FAILURE OF THIS CONNECTION COULD LEAD TO FUEL SPILLAGE AND, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A FIRE COULD OCCUR.

Your 2007 Mercury Monterey sounds amazing! It has everything you need at the push of a button, including dual power sliding doors, dual power heated & cooled seats, dual climate control, and a power liftgate. The Monterey has a sporty exterior and an elegant interior with great looking wood and chrome trim accents. The little clock between the A/C vents looks great too! It has a great smooth ride and hugs sharp curves with ease. Even at 80 mph on the freeway, the ride is extremely quiet. The powerful 4.2L V6 is really fast from the get-go, and I love to floor it because I love that power. Despite all this, you still get about 21 mpg. I couldn't be happier with my Monterey and I highly recommend it!

Your Mercury Monterey is excellent! The ride and handling are superb, and the V6 power is really great for passing or just getting up to speed. The exterior style is sporty and classy, and the interior is really nice. I love the wood/leather steering wheel with audio controls. Everything works perfectly, and there is plenty of passenger and cargo room. The only thing I wish this van had that it doesn't is a NAV System and Satellite Radio. But the thing I am most happy with is the comfortable, smooth, quiet ride and superb handling. It's awesome! It really hugs the curbs, and the dual climate control is there to make sure everyone is always comfortable. I highly recommend the sporty yet elegant Mercury Monterey.

If you live in the South, such as Florida, you'll know that the cooled perforated leather seats are a must-have feature in a van. Luckily, this is the only van that offers them. You'll also appreciate the other great features, such as power doors, an ultra-quiet highway ride, a compass, a dimming rear-view mirror, memory seats, pedals, mirrors, and more. You can even program your own code into the keyless door entry, so the seats adjust to you or your spouse when you enter your code to unlock the door. It's simply awesome! The workers at the plant in Canada are incredibly detail-oriented and have done an excellent job with quality.

I have owned both Dodge and Ford minivans in the past. This Mercury is a great improvement over my previous Ford Windstar vans and a world of difference over the Dodge, which was the worst vehicle I have ever owned. While my friends prefer the new Honda's and Toyota minivans, I find them way too expensive. The Honda is far noisier, the power is not as good as the Mercury, and the mileage is about the same. Also, I was able to buy the Mercury for over $3000 less with the same features as the Honda. I, for one, cannot justify the higher prices for the Honda and Toyota.

In my opinion, the Monterey is the best van out there. It is loaded with luxury features and has a powerful 4.2L V6. If you're looking for a great van, I highly recommend the Monterey.

Hello, I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with the van I purchased 7 months ago. Unfortunately, I've had some issues with it, including having to replace the wheel bearings and hubs due to a recall. Additionally, the front brakes warped at 15000 miles (90% of which were highway miles), and it wasn't covered under warranty. Although they cut the rotors to stop the vibration, they warped again after only 2000 miles. I ended up taking the van to my own mechanic and spending $400 on front rotors and brakes. Now, the rear brakes need to be replaced, which will cost another $400. As someone who has been in sales for the last 15 years and has driven a lot of miles on different vans, I have never had this many problems with any van this soon. I just wanted to give you a heads up. Thank you for your time. BUYER BEWARE! By the way, I also noticed that the front windshield has a stress crack.

It seems like the car has some room for improvement. The gas mileage (13 mpg city) is not great and the cup holder for the driver is poorly placed. The center console could also be better designed. The 3rd row seat is quite close to the floor and is only suitable for small children, although even a small adult could sit back there with their knees up. Overall, there are some areas that could be improved, but it's still a decent car.
