1992 Mercury Capri problems
Capri (later Mercury Capri) is a nameplate marketed by the Lincoln-Mercury division of Ford Motor Company over three generations between 1970 and 1994.
From 1970 to 1978, the Capri was a sport compact marketed in North America by the Lincoln-Mercury division without any Ford or Mercury divisional branding; it was a captive import, manufactured by Ford of Europe and sold simply as the Capri. From 1979 to 1986, the second generation Capri became part of the Mercury model line as a U.S. built pony car. From 1991 to 1994, the third generation Mercury Capri was a roadster manufactured by Ford Australia and marketed outside North America as the Ford Capri.
In North America, the first and third generations of the Capri were marketed without a direct Ford-brand counterpart but were sold in other markets under the Ford brand.

I bought this car for only a couple hundred dollars and everywhere I go people love it! I'm planning to do a complete restoration of this car to factory condition since it's in great shape and well worth the investment!

I have thoroughly enjoyed owning this fantastic little red car. It has been a reliable and trouble-free vehicle, perfect for local runabouts, and an absolute joy to drive. While it is difficult to part with such a great friend, I am confident that it will bring the same level of enjoyment to its next owner. With all the SUVs and trucks on the road, I have decided to pass on this wonderful auto to someone who will appreciate it as much as I have.

Congratulations on making it as a bachelor! This car may not be a DeLorean, but it's still quite impressive. I purchased it 2 1/2 years ago and have only had one issue with the distributor on the first day of my senior year of high school. That was a bummer! However, the handling of this car is awesome. While parts can be expensive and Capris are known for being troublesome, I have had a great experience with my automatic. I would recommend getting a manual or even a turbo for an even better ride. I am excited to purchase my second Capri because I absolutely love this car!

I bought the Capri on a whim while in AZ and decided to sell it before leaving the state. Since then, I've been on the East coast for 6 months and have been hesitant to buy a new car. My friends and I couldn't figure out why. But this morning, I was browsing cars online and stumbled upon an exact duplicate of my Capri. I'm thrilled to say that I'm walking out the door with cash in hand. Can you believe it?

This car has been amazing for pleasure and relaxation! It's like a little machine that almost feels like an expensive fun machine, but the power end really makes the difference. I'm hoping the next 120000 miles will be just as good, if not better, to drive.

I purchased this car on 5/01 with 80k miles on it. Unfortunately, I have had to spend $700 on repairs every 4 months since then. The car has been a headache since day one. Here is a list of parts that I have had to replace: the entire exhaust up to the catalytic converter, 2 brake rotors, the alternator and belts, water pump, radiator, driver side window regulator, thermostat, and the sensor. Just yesterday, the automatic transmission stopped functioning. I have decided to junk the car and look for a more reliable one, or at least one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to fix. It seems like every part has to be special ordered or custom installed.

I inherited my XR2 from my dad, who bought it new in '91 upon retirement. It has less than 12K miles on it! He recently replaced the top, but the driver's headlight doesn't pop-up, the door locks are questionable, and the interior quality control is sorely lacking. However, it's in great shape overall. It's really fun to drive, but there is considerable turbo lag and front-wheel drive, so it tends to oversteer. Installing wider, stickier tires and a strut brace will help. It looks nice with the top down, but the tiny wheels and skinny tires give it a dorky appearance. I'm currently looking for 15-inch, 7-spoke rims from '94s. I also have a '94 Mazda RX7, which is a real sports car! The XR2 is more of a sporty econobox with a soft top. Surprisingly, it's comfortable, roomy, and has a good ride. The drop top is easy to use, and the trunk is large for a small car. It also gets awesome gas mileage at 30+ mpg on the highway, although the brakes are a bit spongy.

I absolutely loved owning my Capri for 11 years! It was such a fun and maneuverable car, and surprisingly comfortable for its size. While I did experience some mechanical issues, the car was generally reliable. The only downside was the poor quality automatic transmission, which unfortunately remained a problem even after repairs. The front seating area was spacious enough for long legs, but taller individuals may struggle with headroom. The back seat was a bit cramped, but still manageable for short trips with the top down. It's worth noting that body work can be quite expensive. Despite these minor issues, the heater and air conditioner worked extremely well for most of the car's life. Overall, the Capri was an incredibly enjoyable little car, especially considering its initial price.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my car. I purchased it in May of 2010 for $800 with only 78k miles and it was in good shape inside and out. The engine was clean as can be! Although the top was bad, I was able to find a replacement on eBay for a really cheap price, so now it looks great. I've driven over 23k miles in less than a year and the only issues I've had were having to replace the fuel pump (which was my fault) and a wheel bearing. Despite only having 100hp, the transmission is geared out to have decent pick up. It runs really smoothly at 70mph on I95 and with the top down, you can barely tell you're in a convertible. Thanks for listening!

This car has been a bit of a challenge for me. Although it's fun to drive, it has required frequent trips to the shop. I would advise against purchasing one of these. Thank you for considering my experience.
