2014 Mazda Mazda5 problems
The Mazda Premacy (Japanese: マツダ・プレマシー, Hepburn: Matsuda Puremashī) is a passenger minivan that was built by the Japanese manufacturer Mazda from 1999 to 2018.
The first generation Premacy was built in Japan and exported to Europe and Asia. A rebadged version was sold by Ford in a few Asian markets (including Japan) as the Ford Ixion or Ixion MAV.
The second generation onward is sold outside Japan as the Mazda5. Ford Lio Ho in Taiwan, which assembles Mazda5 for the local market, adapted a re-badged version as the Ford i-Max from 2007 until 2011.
The first generation Premacy was a two- or three-row, five- or seven-passenger vehicle, while the second generation adds a third row of seats for up to six passengers in American form, and seven passengers outside the United States. Both generations feature near-flat floors, folding or removable second row, and fold-flat rear seats.

Common 2014 Mazda Mazda5 problems
The 2014 Mazda 5 is known for several common problems, including issues with the engine, transmission, and suspension.
One of the most frequently reported problems is related to the engine, specifically the 2.3-liter gas engine. This engine can suffer from oil burning and bearing seal leakages, which can occur at around 100,000 kilometers. Additionally, spark plug wells can become filled with oil, indicating the need for cylinder head cover gasket replacement. The 1.8-liter engine, which is also used in the Mazda 5, can experience floats in the throttle body, which can be addressed through throttle body cleaning or ECU reprogramming. The ford duratec series, which is also used in the Mazda 5, is prone to issues that are common to these engines. The tulit engine, which is equipped with variable geometry intake and VVT system, can experience knocks if these systems become loose. These issues can be resolved by replacing the VVTI vanes and intake manifold. The tulit engine is also sensitive to fuel quality. Diesel engines used in the Mazda 5 can suffer from issues with the DPF filter and common rail injection system, which can be caused by low-quality diesel fuel. The injector ceiling ring can also fail, significantly reducing engine resource. Dual mass flywheel and turbocharger should be replaced once in 200,000 kilometers.
Transmission problems are also common in the 2014 Mazda 5. The five and six-speed manual gearboxes and five-speed Tiptronic water installed on the Mazda 5 show high durability and can remain operable for more than 100,000 kilometers. However, some owners have reported solenoid electric socket failure on automatic transmission, which can switch the gearbox into safety operation mode. This safety mode can be quit by five-minute disconnection of the car battery negative electrode pole. ATF and ATF filters should be changed once in 100 to 120,000 kilometers, and oil change in manual gearboxes should be done every 80 to 100,000 kilometers.
Suspension issues are another common problem in the 2014 Mazda 5. Torsion bars and mounts often fail at 20 to 40,000 kilometers, and strut mounts and rear suspension arms should be changed once in 40 to 70,000 kilometers. Rear shock absorbers demand replacement at 80,000 kilometers, and other suspension elements can sustainably operate for 120,000 kilometers. Front bushings can make it to 120,000 kilometers, and ball joints' lifetime is about 120 to 150,000 kilometers. The steering system has also allowed components to fix electric power steering, which can get overheated in hot weather, causing power steering mechanism disengagement. The engine start is the only way to get the mechanism back to work. Steering joints last for 80 to 100,000 kilometers, and steering links operate for 150,000 kilometers.
Interior trim materials are cheap but durable, and noise insulation could be much better. Interior space is huge enough to comfortably transport eight adult men, but loading space reduces to 120 liters if the third seat row is used. Electronics operate with high stability, but used cars are usually covered with scratches all over the body, and some body elements have low corrosion resistance.
In conclusion, the 2014 Mazda 5 is known for several common problems related to the engine, transmission, and suspension. These issues can significantly impact the car's performance and reliability, and it is essential to address them promptly to ensure safe and efficient operation.

I went bnack to the dealer the next day and made a complain. They sent me to their Mechanic who diagnosed the problem to be the ABS Hydraulic Control Unit Assembly. It is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of my family was put at risk because of the fact that I have to pump the brakes to slow the vehicle. Yes the problem was confirmed by the independent Mechanic recomended by the dealer, with a detailed estimate. No inspection was performed by the manufacturer, police or insurance representatives. STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-10-26
- VIN: JM1CW2BL7E0
- Components: STRUCTURE
- Summary: The driver door handle stopped functioning on a 7-year-old low milage (<25k) Mazda 5. The malfunction is common among Mazda's and can be easily found when searching the internet. A small groove on the internal door handle mechanism breaks off and lets the spring pulling the handle back slip out. In most cases, this causes the door to be unable to open (from the outside or inside). However, in my case, the door would not latch closed anymore. Having a driver side door not close while driving is a safety issue and a vehicle where the door does not stay closed should not be operated. This problem is known to Mazda and a recall was issued for certain Mazda models in the past - but not for the 2014 Mazda 5. (see this web-site for a description: https://www.realmazdaparts.com/blog/mazda-door-handle-problems) This issue came up without warning, leaving us on a trip with a door that was suddenly not latching closed anymore. Therefore, this is a safety hazard that may arise on any moment and Mazda should address it by replacing the internal part of the door handle with one that is not subject to premature failure.

I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your test drive and decided to purchase this brand new vehicle! After a year of driving it, I'm pleased to hear that the handling is still excellent and that you find it fun to drive. While there are some cons, such as the small and uncomfortable front seat armrests and the slippery stereo knob, I'm happy to hear that they are only minor gripes. It's great to hear that you are still very happy with the overall ride and versatility of this small minivan!

I love little blue! She kept 5 little ones safe in car seats, ranging from 1 to 5 years old! And she also transported middle school age kids to the occasional wrestling meet, even though it was a tight fit. I also love that I can lay the back seats down and take my beach cruiser for a ride. It's pretty good on mileage too. Even though it only has 4 cylinders, I feel it really picks up speed fast - zoom, zoom!

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with my 2012 Mazda5 Touring, which I've owned for a week now. Overall, I'm quite happy with it, but I do have a few minor complaints. The build quality seems good, and the handling and ride quality are very impressive. I've also been getting great mileage, with over 30 mpg on the highway. However, I do have a couple of issues. Firstly, the sunroof only opens to 60% of the cutout, which is a shame. It would be great if it could open fully. Additionally, there's no front covered storage other than the glove compartment, which is a bit inconvenient. The fold-down center front armrests also get in the way of the seat belt buckles, so I think they should be replaced with a covered bin. Finally, I think the sound system could be better. For the same price, you can get a CX5 with a real sunroof and a Bose system, which seems like a better deal to me.

You've found a great van that's smaller than the typical ones and has great handling. It's even better because you were able to find a low mileage 6-speed manual one after searching for it. Well done!

I purchased my 2012 Mazda 5 in February 2013 with only 10 miles on the odometer. It was a significant upgrade from my '96 Corolla, which had 166K miles and a fuel economy of 27/34 mpg. Although I was initially disappointed with the Mazda's fuel economy of 24mpg, I was pleased with the extra room it provided. As someone who prefers SUVs to mini-vans, I found the Mazda's size and body style to be more in line with the Rav4 & CRV that I had considered, but at a better price and with better fuel economy. While I do wish the mileage was better and that there was a larger covered center console, I ultimately chose the Mazda over the new CX-5 because the bench seat didn't fold flat and the front 'racing' seats were hard and uncomfortable. Every time I drive my ZoomZoom, I discover something new that I like about it.

You'll love the good gas mileage and ample cargo space, and the third row seat is a real lifesaver. While there is quite a bit of road noise, it's still better than having to listen to the 'sound system' (two cans and a string). The seats are made of a unique material that unfortunately retains stains, but overall they're still comfortable.

We chose this model after renting one for a cross country road trip. During that time, I threw out my back but still drove for hours in relative comfort. This car was fine for getting around town and great for long road trips in good weather when we lived at a lower, warmer elevation. However, we later moved to the mountains where we experienced snow and learned that this car is not suitable for snowy conditions despite being front-wheel drive. As someone originally from Minnesota who has owned many cars, I can confidently say that this was by far the worst winter car I have ever driven. In fact, my wife finally ended up sliding off the road and totaling it with new all-season tires on it (we had just taken off the snow tires that only helped minimally anyway) when there was just an inch of snow on the ground. Additionally, it is not a very powerful vehicle. However, it was dependable. It was just also dependably terrible in snow. I wouldn't buy another one.

Although the price was reasonable, it unfortunately doesn't quite replace a van. Once you put up the third row, there is barely any space left for storage. We purchased this vehicle to replace our T&C because we wanted better gas mileage while still being able to accommodate four kids. While it can hold four kids, it doesn't leave any room for a stroller or shopping bags. It is designed for either occasional back row seating or as a four-seater with trunk space.

It's been almost a year and 10.5k miles since I got this car. There are definitely some things I like about it, but if I had the chance, I would trade it in. My previous car was an '05 Outback, which had its fair share of problems over 100k miles, but I loved it from the start. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about my current car. I chose it because it has enough space to fit an adult in the backseat with our two little kids, but we only really need that on long trips, which only happen twice a year. Although the 5 was fine with winter tires in last year's very mild winter, I do miss having AWD. Something about it just feels a bit cheap. After 10k miles, one of the sliding doors has started to rattle at slow speeds, which is a bit disappointing.
