2006 Lincoln Mark lt problems
The Lincoln Mark LT is a luxury pickup truck manufactured and marketed by Ford's Lincoln division. Having gone on sale in January 2005 for the 2006 model year, the Mark LT was essentially a badge engineered, luxury-trimmed variant of the Ford F-150 truck — and a successor to the failed 2002-only Lincoln Blackwood. The Mark LT was manufactured at Ford's River Rouge Plant in Dearborn, Michigan, and at the Ford Cuautitlan plant in Cuautitlán, Mexico, on the same lines as the closely related Ford F-150.
The Mark LT is based on the Ford F-150 pickup truck. It uses the same 330-cubic-inch, 300 hp (224 kW; 304 PS) 5.4 L Triton V8 and has four doors. The Mark LT also had optional all-wheel drive.
Lincoln had hoped to sell 13,000 Mark LT's annually in the United States. The Mark LT was more successful than the Blackwood in its first year of sales with 10,274 sold in the first calendar year of sales (February 2005 through February 2006). The 2006 Mark LT outsold the Cadillac Escalade EXT, but the 2007 EXT gained on the Mark LT's sales consistently. After disappointing sales, the Mark LT was cancelled in the United States and Canada after the first generation, but a second generation was sold in Mexico where it was often the Lincoln Division's best selling model.

- Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
- Summary: IN 2012, WE BOUGHT A USED MARK LT WITH 60K MILES. THE VEHICLE SINCE STALLED TWICE AFTER REACHING 100K+ MILES AND DRAINING TWO BATTERY, SHUTTING DOWN THE ENGINE WITHOUT WARNING AT A LOW SPEED AND WHILE TRYING TO TURN. THIS RENDERED THE BRAKES AND POWER STEERING USELESS - WE JUST BARELY AVOIDED FRONTAL COLLISION WITH STREET SIGNS AND A BRIDGE AS WELL AS ALMOST BEING REAR-ENDED BY DRIVER BEHIND US. FORTUNATELY, BOTH WERE AT LOW SPEED AND ON LOCAL RURAL ROADS. ALSO, THE VEHICLE HAS BEGAN HESITATING WHEN ACCELERATING MOSTLY @ 45-50 MPH. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT RE-CREATE ISSUES AFTER FIRST INCIDENT AND THE DIAGNOSTICS DID NOT SHOW ANY ERROR CODES. FORD ISSUED TSB'S IN 2008 DESCRIBING " THE ENGINE PROBLEMS ARE THE RESULT OF DEFECTS IN THE FOLLOWING VEHICLE SYSTEMS AND COMPONENTS: ...POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM), ...TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM, ...ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL (ETC) AND/OR THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY" WHICH CAN LEAD TO THE FOLLOWING PERFORMANCE AND SAFETY ISSUES " ACCELERATION HESITATION, LOSS OF REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE, STALLING, LOSS OF POWER (INCL. LOSS OF POWER AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED), SUDDEN AND INTERMITTENT DECELERATION AND OTHER SIMILAR AND POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING MALFUNCTIONS." SEVERAL COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE DIRECTLY TO NHTSA. IT IS IRRESPONSIBLE THAT THE OEM IS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE WITH THIS PRACTICE IN THE NAME OF PROFIT AND IS NOT REQUIRED RECTIFY THE DEFECTS IMMEDIATELY AND CONTINUES PLACING CUSTOMERS IN DANGER. THE RECENT GM CASE SHOULD HAVE TAUGHT US ALL A LESSON.

I RECEVIED A CALL FROM LINCOLN AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE SPOKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND THERE IS NOTHING MORE TO BE DONE TO THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THS IS HOW THIS TYPE OF TRUCK DRIVES. SOUNDS LIKE UNSAFE CONSTRUCTION TO ME THAT SHOULD BE DECLARED A PUBLIC SAFETY HAZARD. THE TRUCKS ARE FROM 2 DIFFERENT STATES ORIGINALLY SO IT IS NOT A MATTER OF ONE DELIVERY OF 2 BAD VEHICLES. *NM
2006 Lincoln Mark lt recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 5 recalls for different components of the 2006 Lincoln Mark lt.
- Manufacturer: FORD MOTOR COMPANY
- Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
- Summary: FORD IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2006 F-150 PICK UP TRUCKS AS WELL AS CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 LINCOLN MARK LT VEHICLES. IF THIS OCCURS THE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP MAY ILLUMINATE INDICATING THAT SERVICE IS REQUIRED.
- Consequence: THE DRIVER SIDE FRONTAL AIR BAG COULD INADVERTENTLY DEPLOY INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY OR LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL IF OCCURRING WHILE IN MOTION.
- Remedy: FORD WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND INSTRUCT THEM TO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO A FORD OR LINCOLN/MERCURY DEALER TO HAVE A NEW CLOCKSPRING JUMPER WIRE INSTALLED THAT INCORPORATES A PROTECTIVE MESH COVER. REPAIRS WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THIS SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON SOME VEHICLES IN MARCH 2011. THE RECALL CAMPAIGN ON THE EXPANDED POPULATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT MAY 9, 2011. THE BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM SUPPLY HOSE ATTACHED TO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD FITTING MAY SWELL OVER TIME AND LOSE RETENTION FORCE. THIS CONDITION COULD ALLOW THE HOSE TO BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FITTING DURING AN INTAKE MANIFOLD BACKFIRE. SHOULD THE HOSE DETACH FROM THE INTAKE MANIFOLD, SEVERAL BRAKE APPLICATIONS WITH POWER ASSIST WILL BE AVAILABLE BEFORE THE VACUUM RESERVE IS DEPLETED.
- Consequence: ONCE THE BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM RESERVE IS DEPLETED, THE DRIVER WILL HAVE FOUNDATION BRAKE FUNCTION, BUT WITH INCREASED BRAKE PEDAL EFFORT. REDUCED VEHICLE BRAKING COULD LEAD TO A CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE A RUBBER HOSE ON THE BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM SUPPLY TUBE ASSEMBLY. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 27, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673.

DUE TO INCORRECT DESIGN, THE QUICK CONNECTORS MAY NOT FULLY SEAT WITH THE TUBE INTERFACE, EVEN THOUGH THE PERSON MAKING THE CONNECTION MAY BELIEVE THAT THE QUICK CONNECTOR IS FULLY ATTACHED.
- Consequence: FAILURE OF THIS CONNECTION COULD LEAD TO FUEL SPILLAGE AND, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A FIRE COULD OCCUR.
- Remedy: UFI WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 4, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT UFI FILTERS USA AT 800-230-5876.

- Consequence: THIS ERROR COULD PREVENT THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) WARNING LIGHT FROM ILLUMINATING IF THE ABS MODULE EVER BECAME INOPERATIVE.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL RECALIBRATE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IN THESE VEHICLES. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 27, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673.
- Manufacturer: FORD MOTOR COMPANY
- Components: VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER:MOTOR
- Summary: ON CERTAIN TRUCKS, PASSENGER CARS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR MAY HAVE BEEN PRODUCED WITHOUT GREASE BEING APPLIED TO THE OUTPUT SHAFT GEAR.
- Consequence: AFTER A PERIOD OF CONTINUOUS USE ON THE HIGH SPEED SETTING, LACK OF GREASE ON THE OUTPUT SHAFT GEAR MAY CAUSE THE GEAR TO DISTORT OR FRACTURE DURING OPERATION RESULTING IN A LOSS OF WIPER FUNCTION. INOPERATIVE WIPERS UNDER INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS COULD CAUSE A CRASH DUE TO IMPAIRED VISIBILITY.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE WIPER MOTOR FOR THE PRESENCE OF GREASE AND GREASE THE WIPER MOTOR GEARS IF NECESSARY. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 22, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673 OR LINCOLN/MERCURY AT 1-800-521-4140.

The Lincoln Mark LT truck is a truly elegant version of the F-150 Lariat. It drives like a luxury SUV, with absolutely no 'trucky' feel, making you forget that you're driving a pickup. The engine is smooth, strong, and throaty, while the transmission shifts seamlessly during cruising. The body fit and finish are impressive, and the stereo pumps out great sound. The shortbed has generous cargo space and extends to 8-ft with the tailgate down. Although there's lots of plastic on the dashboard, it's tastefully done and durable. The Lincoln trim makes it more mature and sophisticated than an F-150. However, it's worth noting that the leather may be a bit delicate, and the rear seat backrest is too straight up. Additionally, there's no significant difference between this and an F-150 Lariat, which sells for $6,000 cheaper.

My last truck was a Dodge and I really liked it. I've driven a few other trucks out there, but this one was hands down the nicest. I had to drive a truck for work for many years, but now that I'm retired, I can drive anything I want. I'm so happy with my choice!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my Lincoln Mark-LT that I've been leasing for the past 6 months. I have to say, I'm really impressed with the ride quality compared to the F-150. The Lincoln look and feel are also fantastic, and I've noticed a lot of heads turning when people see my Mark-LT. I make sure to keep it clean and shining all the time! The only issue I've had is that I'm struggling to get 12.5 miles to a gallon in the city. I haven't had it on the highway for an extended period yet, but I'm hoping to get around 17-18 MPG at best. I had the dealer put on some great accessories like the chrome step bars, bed liner, bed extender, and hard cargo cover, which really complete the look. Thanks for listening!

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with you. I recently completed a five week, ten thousand mile 'road test' and I must say, this is the finest large vehicle I've ever owned. In fact, I think it's the best looking truck on the market!
-
You have a great taste in trucks! It's wonderful to hear that you plan on keeping it for life. Your truck is truly unique and stylish, making it stand out from the rest.

I've had this vehicle for a week now and I've noticed a few things that Lincoln could have improved on the Mark LT. Firstly, there's not much storage space, making it difficult to fit in essentials like a first aid kit or jumper cables. Additionally, the rear seats don't fold down, and while they do fold up, there's no storage space underneath. The radio's CD player also requires manual intervention to shuffle songs, which can be a bit of a hassle. The odometer also doesn't display tenths of a mile, which can be inconvenient for some. The memory seats don't adjust the mirrors, and the lumbar support is manual instead of push-button. There's also no light under the hood, and the hood latch isn't very user-friendly. The plastic-like grill is a bit flimsy, and the black running boards show dirt and dust easily. It would have been nice if they were chrome with Lincoln inserts, to give it a more designer look. Overall, these are just a few things that could have been improved, but I'm still enjoying my time with the vehicle.
