Lincoln Mark lt problems

The Lincoln Mark LT is a luxury pickup truck manufactured and marketed by Ford's Lincoln division. Having gone on sale in January 2005 for the 2006 model year, the Mark LT was essentially a badge engineered, luxury-trimmed variant of the Ford F-150 truck — and a successor to the failed 2002-only Lincoln Blackwood. The Mark LT was manufactured at Ford's River Rouge Plant in Dearborn, Michigan, and at the Ford Cuautitlan plant in Cuautitlán, Mexico, on the same lines as the closely related Ford F-150.

The Mark LT is based on the Ford F-150 pickup truck. It uses the same 330-cubic-inch, 300 hp (224 kW; 304 PS) 5.4 L Triton V8 and has four doors. The Mark LT also had optional all-wheel drive.

Lincoln had hoped to sell 13,000 Mark LT's annually in the United States. The Mark LT was more successful than the Blackwood in its first year of sales with 10,274 sold in the first calendar year of sales (February 2005 through February 2006). The 2006 Mark LT outsold the Cadillac Escalade EXT, but the 2007 EXT gained on the Mark LT's sales consistently. After disappointing sales, the Mark LT was cancelled in the United States and Canada after the first generation, but a second generation was sold in Mexico where it was often the Lincoln Division's best selling model.

Common Lincoln Mark lt problems

The Lincoln Mark LT, a luxury pickup truck, has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from its owners. One of the most prevalent issues is engine problems, with the vehicle losing power and making a loud clattering noise. This issue can occur while driving at high speeds, causing the dashboard lights to come on, including the battery and low oil pressure lights. The problem may stop after 10-15 seconds or when the vehicle is accelerated. This issue can be challenging to diagnose, as mechanics may not find any faults in the engine or its history.

Another common problem with the Lincoln Mark LT is that it may not start, especially in cold weather. This issue can be caused by the fuel not getting to the engine, making it seem like a battery problem when it's not. This issue can be resolved by changing the fuel pump, which costs around $200, with labor costs ranging between $200-$400.

The Lincoln Mark LT's fuse box has also been reported to cause problems, particularly the Ignition Switch Feed (120 - #20A) fuse, which can short out, causing the vehicle to have starting issues. This issue can be resolved by changing the fuse, which is a relatively inexpensive fix.

The Lincoln Mark LT's transmission has also been reported to have issues, with the vehicle sometimes having trouble shifting gears or going into reverse. This issue can be a broader electrical problem, and it may require more extensive repairs.

The Lincoln Mark LT's spark plugs can also burn out, causing the vehicle to have starting issues or to run poorly. This issue can be caused by the transmission's paleness, which can cause the engine to misfire and burn out the spark plugs.

In summary, the Lincoln Mark LT has several common problems, including engine issues, starting problems, fuel pump issues, fuse box problems, transmission issues, and spark plug problems. These issues can be costly to repair, and they can cause significant downtime for the vehicle. It's essential to address these issues promptly to ensure the vehicle's safety and reliability.

Why did they stop making Lincoln Mark LT?

Slow sales saw Ford stop selling the Lincoln Mark LT in North America after the release of the 2008 model truck, according to Edmund's Inside Line. It replaced the pick-up with a high-end Platinum trim version of the Ford F-150 in 2009. But the Mark LT was the maker's most successful pick-up in Mexico.

What year was the Lincoln Mark LT last made?

2014

The Mark LT was built in two versions along with the F-150: the short-bed Dearborn and the long bed Cuautitlán. With the introduction of the 2015 thirteenth generation F-Series, no Mark LT version was built, making the 2014 model year the last for the Mark LT.

How much can a Lincoln Mark LT pull?

Towing capacity on the review truck is 8600 pounds, while the 4×2 is 8900 pounds. The Mark LT has all the specs of a Ford F150 SuperCrew including the 5.5′ bed.

  • Date Of Incident: 2016-05-02
  • Date Complaint: 2016-05-03
  • VIN: 5LTPW18586F
  • Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
  • Summary: IN 2012, WE BOUGHT A USED MARK LT WITH 60K MILES. THE VEHICLE SINCE STALLED TWICE AFTER REACHING 100K+ MILES AND DRAINING TWO BATTERY, SHUTTING DOWN THE ENGINE WITHOUT WARNING AT A LOW SPEED AND WHILE TRYING TO TURN. THIS RENDERED THE BRAKES AND POWER STEERING USELESS - WE JUST BARELY AVOIDED FRONTAL COLLISION WITH STREET SIGNS AND A BRIDGE AS WELL AS ALMOST BEING REAR-ENDED BY DRIVER BEHIND US. FORTUNATELY, BOTH WERE AT LOW SPEED AND ON LOCAL RURAL ROADS. ALSO, THE VEHICLE HAS BEGAN HESITATING WHEN ACCELERATING MOSTLY @ 45-50 MPH. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT RE-CREATE ISSUES AFTER FIRST INCIDENT AND THE DIAGNOSTICS DID NOT SHOW ANY ERROR CODES. FORD ISSUED TSB'S IN 2008 DESCRIBING " THE ENGINE PROBLEMS ARE THE RESULT OF DEFECTS IN THE FOLLOWING VEHICLE SYSTEMS AND COMPONENTS: ...POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM), ...TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM, ...ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL (ETC) AND/OR THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY" WHICH CAN LEAD TO THE FOLLOWING PERFORMANCE AND SAFETY ISSUES " ACCELERATION HESITATION, LOSS OF REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE, STALLING, LOSS OF POWER (INCL. LOSS OF POWER AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED), SUDDEN AND INTERMITTENT DECELERATION AND OTHER SIMILAR AND POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING MALFUNCTIONS." SEVERAL COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE DIRECTLY TO NHTSA. IT IS IRRESPONSIBLE THAT THE OEM IS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE WITH THIS PRACTICE IN THE NAME OF PROFIT AND IS NOT REQUIRED RECTIFY THE DEFECTS IMMEDIATELY AND CONTINUES PLACING CUSTOMERS IN DANGER. THE RECENT GM CASE SHOULD HAVE TAUGHT US ALL A LESSON.

I recently traded in my Cadillac Escalade for the new LT. While I've been enjoying the vehicle, I must say that I was a bit disappointed with some aspects of the Lincoln. The interior doesn't quite match up to the Cadillac's, and I was surprised to find that there's no navigation system offered. Additionally, the sound system is quite basic, and there's only one 12v power source. I've also noticed some rattling in the back seat, and I do miss the wood steering wheel. Overall, it feels like a bit of a missed opportunity for Lincoln. However, I'm still enjoying the vehicle and appreciate the extra features it does offer.

I've had this vehicle for a week now and I've noticed a few things that Lincoln could have improved on the Mark LT. Firstly, there's not much storage space, making it difficult to fit in essentials like a first aid kit or jumper cables. Additionally, the rear seats don't fold down, and while they do fold up, there's no storage space underneath. The radio's CD player also requires manual intervention to shuffle songs. The odometer doesn't display tenths of a mile, which can be inconvenient. The memory seats don't adjust the mirrors, and the lumbar support is manual instead of push-button. There's also no light under the hood, and the hood latch isn't very user-friendly. The plastic-like grill is flimsy, and the black running boards show dirt and dust easily. It would have been better if they were chrome with Lincoln inserts. Overall, these are just a few things that could have been improved to make the Mark LT more user-friendly and designer chic.

I have noticed some issues with the vehicle since purchasing it 4 months ago. However, I am confident in the quality of the vehicle and believe that these issues can be resolved. The steering column and trim pieces have been replaced, and I am working with the dealers to address the tire balancing. While there are some areas of the interior that could be improved, I am impressed with the overall performance and handling of the vehicle. I believe that with proper maintenance, this vehicle will continue to exceed my expectations.

Great job Lincoln! Your excellent workmanship has made my experience with my new 2006 Mark LT truly enjoyable. I am extremely impressed with this vehicle and the value it represents. Although this is my first experience with Lincoln, I have owned several Cadillacs, and I must say that this luxury vehicle is tight, quiet, and a pleasure to drive. I first discovered the Mark LT on Lincoln's website, where I was able to view 360-degree angles and even simulate driving it. A few days later, I saw one driving down the road, and hours later, I was driving one off the lot. That was two months ago, and I still thoroughly enjoy driving this vehicle every chance I get.

My last truck was a Dodge and I really liked it. I've driven a few other trucks out there, but this one was hands down the nicest. I had to drive a truck for work for many years, but now that I'm retired, I can drive anything I want. I'm so happy with my choice!

This is definitely a Guy car, very cool interior, good engine, great gas mileage for being a V8. Awesome sound system. Owners will definitely be happy with this truck, unlike the Blackwood. It is meant to be what it is, a very good-looking F150-like truck, except with tons of class.

  5. Ryder Ritchie 2024-10-21

    Vehicle year: 2006

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my Lincoln Mark-LT that I've been leasing for the past 6 months. I have to say, I'm really impressed with the ride quality compared to the F-150. The Lincoln look and feel are also fantastic, and I've noticed a lot of heads turning when people see my Mark-LT. I make sure to keep it clean and shining all the time! The only issue I've had is that I'm struggling to get 12.5 miles to a gallon in the city. I haven't had it on the highway for an extended period yet, but I'm hoping to get around 17-18 MPG at best. I had the dealer put on some great accessories like the chrome step bars, bed liner, bed extender, and hard cargo cover, which really complete the look. Thanks for listening!
