  • Summary: The vehicle has 119285 miles on it. I have started to see oil leak from the transfer-case/transmission. I called lexus back in August 2023, they were aware of certain vehicle developing oil leak problems. They issued recall on certain vehicles and issued a TSB for oil leak repair. I called lexus today and took the vehicle to the dealership. There is an understanding that my vehicle won't be covered under recall even though the problem is known to lexus. This issue may lead to unexpected breakdown of the vehicle and lead to loose of control of the vehicle.

We were driving at freeway speed when we heard a loud bang above our heads. The interior sunroof cover was closed at the time. I slid it partway open and saw that the glass of the sunroof had shattered, so I closed the cover to keep glass from falling in the car. Had it been open at the time of break, the glass would have rained down on the driver and passenger. I have not yet taken it to a dealer or repair shop.

See Dealership Service. Drove to the dealership to drop off my care, and after 3 days of inspecting my car, the service specialist messaged me with a service summary of a list of items that need to be repaired to have my car run safely again. The total service totaling over 10k, which included repair head cylinder, valve guides, gasket, valve exhaust, cylinder head gasket cover. After speaking to the Service Specialist, he told me the issue is what they refer to "engine wrap" where the cover to the engine distorts (due to heat and time) and messes with the engine itself. He informed me this is a known issue that can occur with the 2015 NX200t.

  • Summary: Since I am just finding out how to file a complaint I figured I would. I still have this car with me. The incident happened about 2 years ago. I was driving down the highway going to Castle Rock Colorado. When all of a sudden my car is thrown into neutral and my rpms go to 6,000. I had no way to accelerate and the car wasn't in gear to help decelerate . Since I was going down the highway at a high rate of speed trucks and cars were all around me.. I immediately turned on my four ways and pulled the car over to the side of the highway. As there was nothing wrong with the motor and it seemed like it was just with the transmission I. Decided to continue but as I continued when I got to 4 gear it would once again throw it out of gear and I couldn't accelerate and I had to pull over. At this point I knew something was wrong. I immediately got the car to a safe area and got it home and the next day got the car to the mechanic. The mechanics said that I needed a new transmission 4 gear is just missing. When the mechanic was putting back together. The very expensive $7,345.00 transmission. He got the parts directly from Lexus and when he went to test, drive the car with the same but new components the transmission immediately failed again, not allowing him to shift in the 4 gear and stalling the car putting him in danger on a busy road. When he got back to his shop he called back to Lexus to verify that the parts that he was given were correct. They verified that the new parts he was given are the old design and that he needed upgraded newer parts that lexus has designed and should have never gotten the other ones . At this point he got the proper parts again and for a second time put the upgrade parts in and it worked . By Lexus not giving the mechanic, the proper upgraded parts. Not only did they put me in danger with the part breaking the first time on the highway they put the mechanic in danger by not giving him the upgraded parts the first time ... thank you

  • Date Complaint: 2023-10-03
  • VIN: JTJBARBZ2F2
  • Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
  • Summary: I purchased this vehicle in 2015 - it has been dealer serviced and has never been in an accident. At just under 90,000 miles on the odometer, a major fluid leak started. It turns out that the rear main (crankshaft) seal had failed, causing a leak of transmission oil. No warning lamps or messages appeared. This failure resulted in an extraordinarily expensive repair, over $2,500.00 at the dealer, Lexus of Greenwood Village (Colorado). It was not covered on warranty. This is a major safety issue - had I not noticed the leak, which occurred without warning, the engine could have seized on a highway, leading to a crash. This failed seal should be designed to last far longer than 90,000 miles. Premature failure of this kind is highly likely secondary to a defect in design or materials. I have complained to Lexus, which is unwilling to take any responsibility for this. Please investigate as to whether a recall is warranted, and whether the manufacturer should be responsible for the repair of this obvious defect. Thanks.

  • Summary: WATER PUMP LEAKING COOLANT: This pump which pushes coolant for engine's cooling system is leaking in several Lexus vehicles. If not replaced, engine will not be operating efficiently and could result in catastrophic engine damage. My vehicle although out of warranty has not even reached 40,000 miles. Dealer provided estimate of $1,134.81 + tax. Dealer warned that if not replaced it could result in catastrophic engine damage that has costed people between $7,000-$21,000. On further research on Internet, I found that coolant water pump has failed in Lexus for several customers, for multiple models of Lexus, for several years, at low mileages. Despite this Lexus has never issued a recall of defective coolant water pump. I would request NHTSA to please investigate this serios issue. Thank You !!

  • Summary: While driving down the Interstate 75 at 70 mph the car completely lost engine power and the whole dashboard lit up. It would not respond to acceleration. I had to pull the car over to the side of the road. I re-started the car and it started back up and worked normally. The following day while on I-75 the car experienced reduced power this time. The car would not accelerate above 20 mph . We got off at the next exit. We spent about 10 minutes searching for the closest Lexus dealer and then when we went to start the car again it ran normally. This has subsequently happened a 3rd time where the car would not respond to the accelerator and I had to pull over to the shoulder and re-start the car. Unfortunately there are no error codes showing when we took it to the dealership on both occasions so they are unable to diagnose the issue.

    Vehicle year: 2017

As a proud owner of my first Lexus, I was determined to find an SUV that would meet my expectations. After researching different brands, I confidently chose the NX200T. While there are some aspects of the car that I find bothersome, there are also many features that I appreciate. The car can be a bit noisy on the road, but the base stereo sounds great and the headlights are top-notch. The seats are comfortable and the heating and cooling functions work perfectly. When in sport mode, the car has a nice kick to it. However, I do believe that there is room for improvement in certain areas. For example, the car has an excessive amount of hard plastic, which is not acceptable for a car in this price range. Additionally, the switches for the windows are cheap and the carpet could be of better quality. Despite these issues, I remain confident in my decision to choose the NX200T. I hope that Lexus will take my feedback into consideration and continue to improve their products.

I really like this Lexus, but there is one thing that bothers me - the uncomfortable seats. I was talking to a friend who had the same experience during her test drive. Has anyone else noticed this?

This car is a good car, but it’s not for everyone. Turns out, it’s not for me. My first luxury car purchase, got it as a CPO and got a hell of a deal. The excitement wore off really quickly though and I’m trying to see if I can trade it in before I have to pay for registration. Pros: great value for your money, lots of features, Lexus reliability, super comfy seats (F-Sport), eye-catching front end styling. Cons: fit and finish (lots of rattles), ugly rear styling, AWD (total joke, my Tiguan never had torque steer), powerful but unrefined sound system, drawn out turbo lag. The tech is manageable but still frustrating to use. Again, it’s a good vehicle and it gets you from point A to point B comfortably. However, if you want something that is engaging to drive, this isn’t it. Even the F-Sport doesn’t help the experience.

I brought my GS F for service and they gave me this as a courtesy car to use for the day. Since I had a few places to go, I ended up putting a good amount of miles on it. In my opinion, the car did not meet my expectations as I prefer driving my wife's Highlander Limited. However, the car has a stylish exterior and a decent interior. It would be a good choice for those who prioritize style over spirited driving. Additionally, it would be a great car to pull up to the antique flea market in. Thank you for the opportunity to use this car for the day!

The NX200t is a great vehicle, but it may not provide the best value for your money. While it may not be as luxurious as the RX, it still has a lot to offer. Some drawbacks include a few exposed bolts in the lower console, cheap looking trim, and a complex navigation system. The cargo space is decent, but not exceptional. If you're looking for a similar option, consider a loaded out RAV4, as they share the same platform. Alternatively, you could opt for a two-year-old RX350. I personally traded mine in after 16 months for a GS350, but keep in mind that I took a loss. The GS350 feels like a luxury car and may be worth considering.

I recently retired and needed to replace my 2011 BMW X3. Although I loved my X3, the new one was just too expensive. During my search, I test drove the BMW X1 and wanted to like it, but the ride was too firm for my liking. I also considered the Acura RDX, but their option pricing required the loaded but most expensive Advance package just to get parking sensors. Additionally, I did not feel that the Acura style, interior or exterior, was up to the 2016 Lexus NXt. I requested quotes through the Edmunds link and was pleasantly surprised that an out of town dealer had by far the best deal. I got pretty much every option except the lane departure warning, dynamic cruise control and leather seats (you will be impressed with the comfort and looks of the Lexus synthetic leather seats!). I only have about 500 miles on it, but so far, I am very happy with my purchase. It is extremely comfortable, very quiet and has a high-tech look. Although the touchpad controller is a bit fussy, you do get better with use (and many controls can be done from the steering wheel or verbally). As another reviewer commented, the cruising range is only a little over 300 miles, but that is a minor complaint compared to the many positives with this vehicle.

I am already the proud owner of a 2015 NX F-sport, which I gave a 5-star review back in November 2015. Recently, my wife and I became empty nesters, so she decided it was time to downsize from her 2009 Mazda CX-9 GT and move into a 5-seater CUV. She test drove a few different models, including the Mazda CX-5 GT (which she loved but needed more power), the Nissan Murano (which was very nice but rolled too much in the turns), and the Acura RDX (which was well-designed but had bland exterior styling). After test driving my car, she decided that it was better than any of the other vehicles she had tried. We found exactly what she wanted - a base unit with the premium package and no NAV. She absolutely loves the vehicle, from its unique exterior styling to its smooth acceleration, ride, and handling, as well as its comfortable and luxurious interior. The only differences between her base model and my F-sport are the paddle shifters and the additional turbo boost and accelerometer gauges. The handling advantage in the F-sport is only really noticeable in very hard and fast turns, and I think a lot of that has to do with the better grip of the summer tires. Also, since she doesn't have the NAV system, the infotainment controller is a dial with a push-button selector, which is much easier to use than the track-pad system on my car. Sometimes simpler is better. We only have a few minor issues with the car. We wish the BSM had an audible tone when you signal and a car is in your path in addition to the orange light in the side view mirror. Her former CX-9 and all the vehicles she test drove had this feature, so I'm surprised it's missing. Also, the low fuel warning comes on at a way too early 12.5 gallons. You still have over 3 gallons remaining, so I find the warning a little too aggressive. I often haven't reached 300 miles yet when the light comes on, but these are minor quibbles. All in all, the NX200t is an excellent choice if you're looking for a compact CUV.

  3. Remington Adams 2025-01-03

My wife fell in love with the original RX300 15 years ago and has now fallen in love again with our new NX200t, which we purchased on 12/8/14. We made sure to get certain packages that fit her needs and wants perfectly. The exterior style may be polarizing, with some loving it and others hating it, but I personally think it's an acquired taste. The white exterior looks cute while the black looks cool. The interior design takes a minimalist approach, which gives it a simple yet elegant look. The vehicle's dynamic can be changed to fit the driver's mood, and the turbo really kicks in around 2000 rpm, which you can really feel. The handling is sporty for a CUV, firm but not harsh, and the steering response is quick but light. To sum it up, it's a tall sedan with good mileage, nimble, sporty luxury. After 2+ years of usage, not much has changed from my original review. It's not race-ready like a Honda S2000, not razor-sharp like a Porsche Cayman, not classy like an MB SL500, and not macho like a BMW Z3. It's more like a Mazda Miata in CUV form, fun well within the boundary. After 5+ years of ownership, I've noticed that it's best to give it 10-15 seconds after starting the car to lubricate the turbo (you will notice the drop in RPM), as the engine will run a lot smoother. After several valet parking incidents, I noticed that the engine idled a bit high (even rough). I figured the attendant probably drove the vehicle right away while the oil hadn't made it to the turbo for lubrication. I won't valet-park this vehicle in the future. Other than that, the vehicle is a hoot to drive (I always have it in SPORT mode while my wife has it in NORMAL).

Firstly, let me say that the NX200 is a great choice for many drivers, especially those who prefer a smaller and lighter car like the RX300. As a long-time Lexus fan, I was eagerly anticipating the NX as a solution to my frustrations with the brand's recent design choices. While the NX is fun to drive, handles well, and accelerates nicely, there are two deal-breakers for me. Firstly, the cabin cargo area is too small and not tall enough for my large dog. Secondly, the front seats curve forward at the top in a way that I'm not fond of. It's disappointing that smaller SUVs like the BMW X1 offer better cabin height, and the Audi Q5, Mercedes GLC, and Subaru Forester offer more viable choices for me and my dog. However, I understand that everyone's needs are different, and your mileage may vary.
