  • Summary: The vehicle has 119285 miles on it. I have started to see oil leak from the transfer-case/transmission. I called lexus back in August 2023, they were aware of certain vehicle developing oil leak problems. They issued recall on certain vehicles and issued a TSB for oil leak repair. I called lexus today and took the vehicle to the dealership. There is an understanding that my vehicle won't be covered under recall even though the problem is known to lexus. This issue may lead to unexpected breakdown of the vehicle and lead to loose of control of the vehicle.

We were driving at freeway speed when we heard a loud bang above our heads. The interior sunroof cover was closed at the time. I slid it partway open and saw that the glass of the sunroof had shattered, so I closed the cover to keep glass from falling in the car. Had it been open at the time of break, the glass would have rained down on the driver and passenger. I have not yet taken it to a dealer or repair shop.

The total service totaling over 10k, which included repair head cylinder, valve guides, gasket, valve exhaust, cylinder head gasket cover. After speaking to the Service Specialist, he told me the issue is what they refer to "engine wrap" where the cover to the engine distorts (due to heat and time) and messes with the engine itself. He informed me this is a known issue that can occur with the 2015 NX200t.

  • Summary: Since I am just finding out how to file a complaint I figured I would. I still have this car with me. The incident happened about 2 years ago. I was driving down the highway going to Castle Rock Colorado. When all of a sudden my car is thrown into neutral and my rpms go to 6,000. I had no way to accelerate and the car wasn't in gear to help decelerate . Since I was going down the highway at a high rate of speed trucks and cars were all around me.. I immediately turned on my four ways and pulled the car over to the side of the highway. As there was nothing wrong with the motor and it seemed like it was just with the transmission I. Decided to continue but as I continued when I got to 4 gear it would once again throw it out of gear and I couldn't accelerate and I had to pull over. At this point I knew something was wrong. I immediately got the car to a safe area and got it home and the next day got the car to the mechanic. The mechanics said that I needed a new transmission 4 gear is just missing. When the mechanic was putting back together. The very expensive $7,345.00 transmission. He got the parts directly from Lexus and when he went to test, drive the car with the same but new components the transmission immediately failed again, not allowing him to shift in the 4 gear and stalling the car putting him in danger on a busy road. When he got back to his shop he called back to Lexus to verify that the parts that he was given were correct. They verified that the new parts he was given are the old design and that he needed upgraded newer parts that lexus has designed and should have never gotten the other ones . At this point he got the proper parts again and for a second time put the upgrade parts in and it worked . By Lexus not giving the mechanic, the proper upgraded parts. Not only did they put me in danger with the part breaking the first time on the highway they put the mechanic in danger by not giving him the upgraded parts the first time ... thank you

  • VIN: JTJBARBZ2F2
  • Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
  • Summary: I purchased this vehicle in 2015 - it has been dealer serviced and has never been in an accident. At just under 90,000 miles on the odometer, a major fluid leak started. It turns out that the rear main (crankshaft) seal had failed, causing a leak of transmission oil. No warning lamps or messages appeared. This failure resulted in an extraordinarily expensive repair, over $2,500.00 at the dealer, Lexus of Greenwood Village (Colorado). It was not covered on warranty. This is a major safety issue - had I not noticed the leak, which occurred without warning, the engine could have seized on a highway, leading to a crash. This failed seal should be designed to last far longer than 90,000 miles. Premature failure of this kind is highly likely secondary to a defect in design or materials. I have complained to Lexus, which is unwilling to take any responsibility for this. Please investigate as to whether a recall is warranted, and whether the manufacturer should be responsible for the repair of this obvious defect. Thanks.

  • Summary: WATER PUMP LEAKING COOLANT: This pump which pushes coolant for engine's cooling system is leaking in several Lexus vehicles. If not replaced, engine will not be operating efficiently and could result in catastrophic engine damage. My vehicle although out of warranty has not even reached 40,000 miles. Dealer provided estimate of $1,134.81 + tax. Dealer warned that if not replaced it could result in catastrophic engine damage that has costed people between $7,000-$21,000. On further research on Internet, I found that coolant water pump has failed in Lexus for several customers, for multiple models of Lexus, for several years, at low mileages. Despite this Lexus has never issued a recall of defective coolant water pump. I would request NHTSA to please investigate this serios issue. Thank You !!

  • Summary: While driving down the Interstate 75 at 70 mph the car completely lost engine power and the whole dashboard lit up. It would not respond to acceleration. I had to pull the car over to the side of the road. I re-started the car and it started back up and worked normally. The following day while on I-75 the car experienced reduced power this time. The car would not accelerate above 20 mph . We got off at the next exit. We spent about 10 minutes searching for the closest Lexus dealer and then when we went to start the car again it ran normally. This has subsequently happened a 3rd time where the car would not respond to the accelerator and I had to pull over to the shoulder and re-start the car. Unfortunately there are no error codes showing when we took it to the dealership on both occasions so they are unable to diagnose the issue.

    Vehicle year: 2017

**UPDATE 11/12/2018** Hi there, I hope you're doing well. Edmunds just sent an email asking for an update, so I thought I’d go ahead and provide one. My initial review below was given after having the car for one month, and we’ve now had it for 19 months. Unfortunately, I can’t say that anything has improved, as those drawbacks I noted in the first review still persist. In fact, I would even downgrade the vehicle for technology, specifically the voice recognition/Nav. Besides constant problems with voice recognition either misunderstanding what you say or not understanding all, the entire Nav system is ABYSMAL. I’ll just say “GOOD LUCK” if you want to find a POI that is NOT in your immediate area of travel...if the POI is say 100 miles away and you don’t know the address, you will NOT be able to find it using the Nav POI search function. This happened to us multiple times, and each time we’d have to use the “call” button to call Lexus Destination Assist. However, I must say that the reps and others at Lexus have been very helpful and understanding. They have stated that this is BY DESIGN by Lexus, that they’d prefer you call them and THEY will search for your desired POI, and then THEY will send that destination to the car’s Nav. Of course, they say this is for “safety”, that they’ll do the work as you drive. How preposterous...first, a good, functional, voice recognition would render this moot, since there’s not much easier/safer than just telling the system where you want to go. But Lexus wants us to move backwards and instead have to call them in order to enter an address. Oh, did I mention that after the free first 12 months, Lexus wants to charge an arm and a leg to continue the service? What a shame that the way they’ve absolutely botched the technology has made us rule out any future Lexus/Toyota purchases. My wife really liked the new Camry design so a few weeks ago we went to check them out, but once we saw the same flaws with remote start, Nav, etc. still existed, we totally dismissed any thoughts of buying one. We've had it just over a month... Thank you for taking the time to read my update. We didn't opt for the F-Sport trim because it doesn't have ventilated seats, which my wife really wanted. She primarily uses the car for a short 10-mile commute and driving the kids around for sports. She absolutely loves it, while I'm not as big of a fan. However, I must say that the car looks great, has a high-quality interior, and performs well. Unfortunately, there are a few shortcomings that I didn't expect from a Lexus. These include lower than expected MPG, only a single analog clock, and limited storage space in the door/cockpit area. Additionally, the radio presets only save the station number without any text, which is different from most other manufacturers. The worst features are the remote start and the trackpad. The remote start is not possible with the keyfob, and even when using the ENFORM smartphone app, the engine shuts off when you unlock the car or open the door. The trackpad is overly sensitive and distracting, making it frustrating to use while driving. Overall, the car has some great features, but there are a few areas that could be improved.

I recently traded in my RX 350 for a new 2015 model. While I have not yet reached 21 mpg, I am generally able to achieve an average of 19.5 mpg. I am not a fast driver and usually drive in eco mode to see if I can get the gas mileage up, which unfortunately means missing out on the added turbo from the other choices. The back of the vehicle is quite small, and I was surprised to find that there is barely enough room to put a car seat in the back seats without moving the passenger seats forward quite a bit. I was also disappointed to find out that the interior is not leather, which does not clean the same as leather. Despite these issues, the vehicle is comfortable. However, I have experienced some problems with the Bluetooth not working correctly with my iPhone and Lexus Enform having problems with connectivity and being able to start the vehicle as advertised. Overall, I would have preferred a larger vehicle and thought I was getting a better deal on gas mileage.

The entertainment system/GPS in question is undoubtedly the worst system I have ever used. As someone who has been in the computer industry for over 30 years, I have extensive experience with all types of electronic interfaces. Therefore, I can confidently say that this is not a case of user error or inability to navigate the system. The track pad, in particular, is a major issue. It is so finicky that even simple tasks like entering a new address into the GPS system become extremely time-consuming. The pad has multiple touch options, none of which are prioritized over another, so even lightly touching the pad to start moving the cursor registers as a click. This leads to errors that must be deleted, and the entire pad can be pushed down to get a click as well, which only adds to the confusion. The system responds in erratic ways, making it difficult to input information accurately. These issues are present in just about every aspect of the system, including searching for a playlist on an attached iPhone. Overall, this system is not only frustrating but also potentially dangerous to use while driving. It is imperative to pull over for safety's sake. The Lexus system's interface is difficult to operate, especially when driving. The POI section of the map is poorly designed, making it challenging to find gas stations or parking spots. Additionally, the iPod/iPhone interface is terrible, and changing the zoom factor on the GPS display is not straightforward. These issues can be distracting while driving and ruin the overall driving experience. As a frequent business traveler who rents cars often, I have noticed that even economy cars have better interfaces than this higher-end luxury SUV. Overall, the interface of the Lexus system needs improvement to enhance the driving experience and ensure safety. This car not only delivers on the basic requirements of a good car, such as a comfortable ride, but also offers a unique driving experience that sets it apart from other well-built cars on the market. While some may criticize the car's interface system, I can confidently say that my experience with a multitude of cars has shown that this system is no more difficult to operate than others in its class. With proper attention and care, this system can be easily mastered, making it a safe and enjoyable part of the driving experience. Overall, I highly recommend this car to anyone looking for a unique and satisfying driving experience.

The Lexus is a great car that looks and drives beautifully. However, it's important to note that the estimated MPG may not be achievable, even in Eco mode. In my experience driving in Southern California, I typically get around 21-22 miles per gallon. Additionally, the speaking navigation for entering an address can be challenging at times. It may take a few attempts to get it right, but with some patience, it can be a useful feature. Lastly, the USB ports may disconnect occasionally, but this is a minor inconvenience. Overall, the Lexus is a great car that is definitely worth considering.

  5. Jay Trantow 2025-01-03

    Vehicle year: 2017

As a proud owner of my first Lexus, I was determined to find an SUV that would meet my expectations. After researching different brands, I confidently chose the NX200T. While there are some aspects of the car that I find bothersome, there are also many features that I appreciate. The car can be a bit noisy on the road, but the base stereo sounds great and the headlights are top-notch. The seats are comfortable and the heating and cooling functions work perfectly. When in sport mode, the car has a nice kick to it. However, I do believe that there is room for improvement in certain areas. For example, the car has an excessive amount of hard plastic, which is not acceptable for a car in this price range. Additionally, the switches for the windows are cheap and the carpet could be of better quality. Despite these issues, I remain confident in my decision to choose the NX200T. I hope that Lexus will take my feedback into consideration and continue to improve their products.

I absolutely loved driving this car! The handling is fantastic and the sport mode provides an extra boost when needed. The economy option is also a great feature. Although I was disappointed to hear that they don't use real leather anymore, the new car smell is still there and I hope the interior will last me over 10 years. The touch pad is really fun to use and I love the little pop it makes when moving to a designated area on the screen. The navigation views of the current street driving on and the compass are both awesome features. The backup camera with grid lines is also very helpful. The cargo spaces are the perfect size for us at this time of life. Although the seats are better than other cars, I sometimes still add a lumbar pillow. It's a shame that cars aren't designed for women with their hair in ponytails or buns. The push start took some getting used to, but it's nice to not have to deal with keys except to unlock my house. I'm so happy that it has AWD, even though I wasn't specifically looking for it. It's great to have in case we travel to snow country. The only downsides are that there is sometimes a glare from the sun on the silver part of the dash area and the steering wheel can get quite hot if the car is in the sun. The AC isn't as cool as our Toyotas, but it gets the job done. I absolutely love the fan in the seats, it's wonderful!

You'll love the good mileage, smooth handling, high quality internal material and crafts-ship, and front seat comfort of this vehicle. While the infotainment system could be improved (the touchpad is slow and the interface is confusing), and the suspension is a little bit stiff, the car still offers good long term value. Additionally, the road noise is below Lexus standard, and while it may feel a little bit under-powered (even in the Sport mode), the car still offers a lot of great features. The only downside is the poor rear visibility.

I owned an Acura TL for 7 years, which was a great car, but it doesn't compare to the NX Sport. I absolutely love everything about this car and I keep discovering new features every day. The blind spot sensor is incredibly helpful and not distracting, and the power is excellent. I tend to keep it in ECO mode, which still offers plenty of power, but if I need additional power or handling, I can easily switch to sport mode. The ride is smooth and quiet, and I'm consistently getting about 25 MPG with a mix of city and highway driving. Overall, this is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a stylish and reliable SUV. Even after a year of ownership, I still rate this car as excellent. The cargo space is fantastic with the seats down, although the opening to the trunk could be a bit larger. I do wish I had insisted on a tow package, as it would have made it easier to fit a bike rack. Despite these minor quirks, I still love driving this SUV every day and plan to keep it for many more years to come. It's been 5 years since I bought it and it's still a great car with zero issues. One issue with the door locks, but otherwise excellent. Update 8-12-21: I've only had one issue in six years, which was the driver door lock mechanism, and it was covered under warranty. The car looks brand new and drives great with 56,000 miles on it. The superior build quality really makes a difference. Update 2-12-22: With 60,000 miles, this has been an excellent vehicle for my family. It still looks new thanks to the paint protection and regular waxing. It certainly has been a smart choice to purchase this vehicle.

I've always been a Toyota fan, and I recently upgraded to the Lexus NX200T! It's an amazing ride! The NX is just the right size for me. If you don't have a large family or need a lot of cargo space, this is the perfect CUV for you! The fit and finish of the Lexus is superb, and the ride is as smooth and quiet as you'd expect from a Lexus. The F Sport model, which I have, has a slightly stiffer ride due to the different suspension from the base model, but it still rides great! I also prefer the F Sport front. The seats are very comfortable, and even at 6'2, I still have plenty of room. The rear seats are also spacious and have reclining seats. The premium 10-speaker stereo system is fantastic. It's a very enjoyable car to drive. Give it a try!!

I think Lexus missed the mark with their slogan. My NX is about 2 1/2 years old with 18,000 miles and has been very dependable. However, there are some major flaws. The AWD system is not up to par, as it only drives one front wheel and one rear wheel, failing a diagonal test (see YouTube). It's hard to differentiate between FWD and AWD since Lexus doesn't label the vehicle as such. The fuel tank is also too small, requiring frequent gas station visits if you do a lot of driving. It gets a little over 300 miles to a full tank at 23mpg combined, and when the low fuel light comes on, there is still 3 gallons or more reserve, which is too much. The mouse pad is also a bit flaky, and the tailgate is temperamental, which I have complained about with no solution (the problem cannot be duplicated at the dealership). It's a little noisy for a Lexus, and a little more power would be a great enhancement. 275+ would be a real enjoyment! I did notice that Lexus has finally packaged all safety equipment in one package, which is a great improvement from the 2016 NX. However, when it comes to AWD, I can walk into most competitors' showrooms and drive out with an AWD SUV, but I have to special order a Lexus NX with AWD. I really hope that something is done about that, as the RDX looks mighty competitive for 2019. In my opinion, Lexus is a top-of-the-line vehicle and should play that part. Otherwise, one could settle for a RAV4 at many thousands less. Shame on you, Lexus, my 2004 XC70 passes a diagonal test.
