In 2007, V8 hybrid powertrains were introduced on the LS 600h/LS 600h L sedans.
Development of the LS began in 1983 as the F1 project, the code name for a secret flagship sedan. At the time, Toyota's two existing flagship models were the Crown and Century models – both of which catered exclusively for the Japanese market and had little global appeal that could compete with international luxury brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Jaguar. The resulting sedan followed an extended five-year design process at a cost of over US$1 billion, and premiered with a new V8 engine and numerous luxury features. The Lexus LS was intended from its inception for export markets, and the Lexus division was formed to market and service the vehicle internationally. The original LS 400 debuted to strong sales, and was largely responsible for the successful launch of the Lexus marque.
Since the start of production, each generation of the Lexus LS has been manufactured in the Japanese city of Tahara, Aichi. The name "LS" stands for "Luxury Sedan", although some Lexus importers have preferred to define it as "Luxury Saloon". The name "Celsior" is taken from Latin word "celsus", meaning "lofty" or "elevated".

- Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 Lexus LS vehicles manufactured May 9, 2006, to July 20, 2010, 2006-2011 Lexus GS vehicles manufactured January 6, 2005, to September 10, 2010, and 2006-2011 Lexus IS vehicles manufactured August 30, 2005, to September 10, 2010. Due to anti-corrosion plating remnants, fuel may leak from where the fuel pressure sensor is attached to the fuel delivery pipe.
- Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will clean and reseal the fuel pressure sensor mounting area, free of charge. The recall began March 3, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.

I have owned 5 Lexus cars in my lifetime. The first one was a 1990 model, and the best one I had was the last model of the 430. However, I have noticed a few flaws in the new model. Firstly, the seat comfort is not as good as the previous models. Secondly, the rear view window is not large enough, which affects the visibility. Thirdly, the trunk is smaller due to the larger indented wheel wells, resulting in a loss of space. Lastly, the design doesn't feel as distinctive or luxurious as it should, instead, it feels like a 'pregnant Camry'.

I used to own a 2002 LS430 and was hoping for a similar experience with the LS460. Unfortunately, the wind noise is quite noticeable and even with the factory recommended fix, my wife finds it uncomfortable to ride in. Additionally, the seats are not as comfortable for long drives as the LS430. I hope Lexus can address these issues as I have been a loyal customer and would like to continue to be so.

I have owned many luxury American cars in the past, but the LS Ultra Luxury L is my first non-American luxury car. This car boasts many advanced features that are not found in American vehicles, although some of them may not be necessary for everyone. One great advantage of non-American cars is that they tend to waste less energy in the drive system, which means more power goes to the wheels. Japanese cars are known for their reliable engines and transmissions, although the LS has had some issues and problems. As some others have mentioned, there is a major wind noise issue that cannot be fixed, despite upgrades from the dealer. However, it is important to note that this issue is due to a design flaw and not a lack of effort from the manufacturer. Additionally, the LS has some other noise issues that tend to arise after it passes 50k miles, but this is a common issue with earlier LS models. While it is disappointing to experience these issues in an $80-90K car, it is important to remember that no car is perfect. The air shocks may need to be replaced after a few years, which can be costly, and the trunk in the L model is quite small and not very practical. Hey there! I wanted to share my experience with the LS 460. I noticed some wind and road noise with this model, which might not be noticeable to new drivers. I'm currently in the process of having the two front side windows replaced to address this issue. I think Lexus should take a look at this problem and fix the windows.
