Lexus Ls460 problems
The Lexus LS (Japanese: レクサス・LS, Hepburn: Rekusasu LS) is a full-size luxury sedan (F-segment in Europe) serving as the flagship model of Lexus, the luxury division of Toyota. For the first four generations, all LS models featured V8 engines and were predominantly rear-wheel-drive. In the fourth generation, Lexus offered all-wheel-drive, hybrid, and long-wheelbase variants. The fifth generation changed to using a V6 engine with no V8 option, and only one length was offered.
As the first model developed by Lexus, the LS 400 debuted in January 1989 with the second generation debuting in November 1994. The LS 430 debuted in January 2000 and the LS 460/LS 460 L series in 2006. A domestic-market version of the LS 400 and LS 430, badged as Toyota Celsior (Japanese: トヨタ・セルシオ, Hepburn: Toyota Serushio), was sold in Japan until the Lexus marque was introduced there in 2006. In 2006 (for the 2007 model year), the fourth generation LS 460 debuted the first production eight-speed automatic transmission and an automatic parking system. In 2007, V8 hybrid powertrains were introduced on the LS 600h/LS 600h L sedans.
Development of the LS began in 1983 as the F1 project, the code name for a secret flagship sedan. At the time, Toyota's two existing flagship models were the Crown and Century models – both of which catered exclusively for the Japanese market and had little global appeal that could compete with international luxury brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Jaguar. The resulting sedan followed an extended five-year design process at a cost of over US$1 billion, and premiered with a new V8 engine and numerous luxury features. The Lexus LS was intended from its inception for export markets, and the Lexus division was formed to market and service the vehicle internationally. The original LS 400 debuted to strong sales, and was largely responsible for the successful launch of the Lexus marque.
Since the start of production, each generation of the Lexus LS has been manufactured in the Japanese city of Tahara, Aichi. The name "LS" stands for "Luxury Sedan", although some Lexus importers have preferred to define it as "Luxury Saloon". The name "Celsior" is taken from Latin word "celsus", meaning "lofty" or "elevated".

Common Lexus Ls460 problems
The Lexus LS460 is a popular luxury vehicle known for its powerful and simple engine. However, it has been associated with several common problems, particularly with the engine and fuel delivery system.
One of the most significant issues is the engine coolant leak, which can cause the engine to significantly raise its temperature and sometimes overheat. This problem is closely associated with the engine and can lead to severe consequences if not properly maintained.
Another issue is the engine's aluminum fuel delivery pipes in the engine compartment, which can easily cause fuel leaks from the pipe, increasing fuel consumption. These lines are located in the hot engine compartment, posing a fire hazard due to the risk of ignition.
The LS460 also has problems with the valve spring, where outer materials can breach into the spring, causing it to degrade and break. This issue can significantly impact the engine's performance and reliability.
Furthermore, the Lexus LS460 has been known to have fuel pump problems. If the fuel pump stops while driving, it could lead to serious troubles like the engine stalling. This model has two fuel pumps – a low-pressure and a high-pressure pump. The low-pressure fuel pump sends fuel from the tank into the fuel lines, while the high-pressure one accurately transfers fuel into the combustion chamber. If the low-pressure fuel pump fails, the combustion ratio may be off, affecting the engine's performance.
In addition to these engine and fuel system issues, the Lexus LS460 has also had problems with its braking system. Some of the most standout braking problems with the LS460 include the brake actuator failure, which can lead to bothersome noises coming from the brakes and even brake actuator failure. This model also suffered from increased brake pad wear, requiring frequent attention for the brakes even before the changeable parts were due.
These problems have led to some Lexus LS460 years being considered as ones to avoid, particularly the 2007 to 2010 models.
In conclusion, while the Lexus LS460 is a powerful and luxurious vehicle, it has been associated with several common problems, particularly with the engine, fuel delivery system, and braking system. Proper maintenance and inspection are crucial to avoid these issues and ensure the vehicle's reliability and performance.

- Date Of Incident: 2022-08-25
- Date Complaint: 2022-08-30
- VIN: JTHBL5EF0G5
- Components: TIRES
- Summary: On march 17, 2022, I purchased 4-Michelin CrossClimate2 car tires (245/45R19/XL 102V) for my Lexus LS460. From the attached photos you can see how soft the rubber is as tested with a Durometer Meter reading of 54 compared to 64.5 Meter on the replaced Michelin Radial MXV.4 tire. Never had a single problem with the MXV.4 tires. Those tires came with the Lexus and had a hard rubber ridge just above the rim which protects these tires from damage. I don't remember ever running into a curb with the CrossClimate2 tires that caused the damage to the tire. The scuffing of the rim wheel is due to tall curbs, narrow tires, narrow drive ways and the driver of course. The CrossClimate2 tire was on the front driver side and usually never is a problem with contact with the curb, these rims have been rotated many times and show curb scuffing. The 4-Michelin CrossClimate2 rubber is very very soft and should have a protective edge to the tire and harder rubber like the Michelin Radial MXV.4 tires, there is no protection as is the case with the Radial X. I spoke to Michelin help desk twice and only received a directive, talk to your dealer. I purchased these tires from Amazon Business and had Walmart install the tires. I checked the Durometer on two of the CrossClimate2 tires still on the auto and the Durometer reading is not consistent on the rubber hardness, telling me there is a problem in manufacturing and quality control. The 4-Michelin CrossClimate2 tires are defective in manufacture and design and I would not recommend them 100%. As soon as I saw the slit in the tire I went to a Tire Dealer who said that the tire could rapture, so I removed the CrossClimate2 tire and replaced it with the spare, Michelin Radial MXV.4 on August 26, 2022.

Lexus Ls460 2013
- Date Of Incident: 2021-11-18
- Date Complaint: 2021-12-19
- VIN: JTHGL1EFXD5
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: My 2013 Lexus LS460 with ~50,000mi had its brake actuator failed (C1391 - Leak in the accumulator). A month prior to code C1391 being triggered, the vehicle experienced inconsistent braking pressure with severe brake pedal modulation required to stop the vehicle. Traveling at speeds under 30 MPH the vehicle would intermittently hesitate to stop. Moreover, a squawk noise was present when depressing the brake pedal. Code C1391 was triggered on 11/18/2021. Upon contacting Lexus dealers and national customer service (Guest incident #211121-000001) to repair the part under warranty, Lexus denied warranty. Inquiry was also made for Lexus dealers and Lexus customer service as to the correct brake actuator part number required for replacement. Both Lexus dealers and national customer service provided the wrong/superseded replacement part number (i.e., part 44050-50110). Below is the customer's research model LS460 brake actuators: -Per 2016 ZLG warranty: 2007-2012 LS460 came with part 44050-50090, 44050-50130 to be replaced by 04003-45450 actuator. -Per 2016 LSB-0047-19: 2013-2017 LS460 came with part 44510-50070 and 44050-50110 to be replaced with the same model 44050-50110 actuator for brake squawk noise. -Per 2019 LSB-0047-19: 2007-2017 LS460 came with part 44050-50110, 44050-50130, 44050-50150, 44050-50170, 44050-50090 to be replaced with 44050-50170 if repairs fail to remedy the brake squawk noise. It appears Lexus has attempted to revised the brake actuator various times to arrive at part 44050-50170, for which continues to fail. It also appears many superseded units are still being sold as replacements for failed actuators online through Lexus dealerships and Lexus authorized retailers. It must also be noted that a failing brake actuator (even prior to code C1391) will cause the brake booster pump to prematurely fail as the brake booster has to constantly pressurize the system causing it to overheat. Both repairs are urgent costing $3000-3500 each.

Vehicle year: 2012
I'm so glad you were able to find such a great deal on your 2012 car with only 16k miles on it! It's unfortunate that Lexus has made some design changes that aren't as appealing, but it sounds like you're still enjoying your car as a comfortable highway cruiser. It's great that you're able to make the 500 mile round trip to the nearest Lexus dealer/maintenance facility without any issues.

Vehicle year: 2009
I waited until my 5000 mile service to evaluate. This car makes me feel like I'm sitting in the lap of luxury! The wind noise issues are being taken care of with new side window glass later this week. The biggest negative is that the navigation system features are rendered virtually useless while driving. It is silly to have to stop the car in order to find a nearby restaurant choice or gas station. This should be allowed.

This is my second Lexus, and I have owned several cars previously. I must say, this is probably the best car I've ever purchased. The only flaw I have noticed is the input control on the nav system, which requires the car to be stopped. Perhaps there could be a way to design the system so that if the passenger seat is occupied, the passenger would be able to operate the system. Just a thought. Overall, it is a very nice and enjoyable vehicle to drive.

Hi there! I wanted to let you know that we found some issues with your vehicle during our inspection. Don't worry though, we were able to catch them early! We found some problems with the front and rear suspension parts, as well as some issues with the seals and engine leaks. Your vehicle only has 65,000 miles on it, so it's great that we were able to catch these issues before they got worse. The total cost of repairs came out to over $8k, but we're confident that your vehicle will be running smoothly again in no time!

I have owned my car for over 4 years now. I bought it at 60k miles and it now has 146k miles. It has been a great car, but unfortunately, I have had some issues with the front suspension. I have had my fair share of BMW ownership as well, but my Lexus has topped BMW in repair bills. I have put over $5K just in suspension work and no, this car has never been in any accident. I am disappointed that the legendary reliability of Lexus seems to be only a legend with this car. Even the dealership acknowledges the inherent issue. I hope Lexus will take responsibility for this and improve their quality. The interior of the car has started to melt in the Houston TX heat, which is a known issue with Toyotas. Lexus has refused to fix 2008 and onward models, and they are only doing the recall on 2007 LS460. I am disappointed with this, but I know that Lexus makes good cars. Despite my negative experience with the LS460, I decided to purchase a GX460.

I have owned 7 Lexus vehicles, including 3 LS460s. While I find the control panel to be subpar and the gas mileage to be worse than my previous 2WD LS models, I still believe this is a great car overall. It achieves a maximum of 23mpg on the highway, whereas my previous models achieved 28+mpg. Despite these drawbacks, I remain confident in my satisfaction with this vehicle.

You have a great looking car! However, it seems like the transmission is having trouble deciding which gear to go into. The dealer says this is normal, but I still have my LS430 without any such problem.

I understand your concerns about the Lexus LS460, but I would like to kindly suggest that it may be more appropriate to rank it last in its class. As some reviewers have noted, the technology can be hit or miss, with issues such as Bluetooth connection with phones, navigation, and voice commands. Additionally, visibility may be quite poor for individuals over 6 feet tall, and the seats may not be as comfortable as one would hope. It is also understandable that you may feel that dealer and manufacturer support is lacking. However, I appreciate your feedback and hope that Lexus can continue to improve their products and services.
