Common 2017 Lexus Is200t problems
The 2017 Lexus IS200t has been reported to have issues with jerky acceleration, which seems to be caused by a vacuum regulator problem. This issue is a known problem and has even had a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) issued for it.
Another common issue with the 2017 Lexus IS200t is intermittent starting problems. Some owners have reported that the car takes a few seconds to start instead of instantly starting. This issue is also random and hard to diagnose, as it does not happen consistently. One owner reported that their 2017 IS200t with only 32k miles had intermittent starting problems, and the car smelled of strong gasoline when this happened. The owner took the car to the dealer, but they could not repeat the problem and ran all diagnostics, which checked out OK.
The 2017 Lexus IS200t also has two known recalls. The most common recall is the fuel pump inside the fuel tank failing, which can cause the engine to stall while driving. The fuel pump can fail due to a manufacturing defect, which can lead to the engine stalling without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.
In summary, the 2017 Lexus IS200t has been reported to have issues with jerky acceleration, intermittent starting problems, and fuel pump failures. These issues can be hard to diagnose and fix, but it is recommended to take the car to a qualified Toyota/Lexus shop and do a data log using an OBD tool and TechStream to find the root cause of the problem.

I love every time I get into this vehicle.

I love this car! I can't wait to update my review after spending more time behind the wheel. So far, it has been pretty amazing. The only downside is that I see quite a few of the same exact car driving around every day, even down to the color inside and out. But that just goes to show how popular this car is, and now I understand why. I usually like to go against the grain, but I'm happy to swim with the school on this one. It's definitely worth it!

Hi there! We offer reliable transportation services.
-
Hey there! I just wanted to let you know that while the seat memory system is a common feature in many luxury brands, it unfortunately isn't available in the IS 200T.

These cars are great and run very well, getting 30-35 miles per gallon. Maintenance seems to be minimal, only requiring oil changes and tire replacements. Unfortunately, I have to let mine go as I can't afford it due to my shoulder injury. Other than that, it has been a great and fun car to drive.

I purchased this car brand new in January 2017 and paid for maintenance until 50,000 miles, hoping it would last me a long time without any breakdowns. However, I recently discovered that if you buy the F Sport feature model, the front brakes need to be changed with less than 20,000 miles on the car. I was shocked and frustrated, but the maintenance agent explained that this is the performance capacity of this type of car. The Lexus dealer quoted me around $900 to replace the brakes. While I am disappointed, I understand that this is a common issue with this model. I may consider other options in the future, but I still appreciate the luxury and comfort that Lexus provides.

We do not recommend this car for daily driving in heavy stop and go traffic due to a 3 second delay when merging into traffic from a stop, which can be unsafe. While the overall speed may not be a concern for those who do not accelerate hard to 60, the delay is a significant issue that should be taken into consideration.
Everardo Cummerata 2024-04-25
When accelerating in the IS200t, there may be a slight delay that you may not experience with other brands. This can make pulling out into traffic a bit less confidence-inspiring than you might expect. Additionally, during my test drive, I noticed a few minor cosmetic issues with the car, such as a loose rubber seal on the door and some hanging plastic mesh material from the C pillar. While these issues were disappointing, I have heard great things about Lexus quality overall. I have also test driven the 2017 330i and the 2017 Audi A4, which both felt more surefooted and had cabin materials that were constructed as expected. I have not yet made a decision on my vehicle, but I am still considering the Lexus IS200t. Overall, my experience at the dealership was a bit disappointing, but I am hopeful that the IS200t will still be a contender for me.
