There were two trim levels available for the Sorento: either the base LX or the up-level EX. Both models included an AM/FM stereo with a single-disc CD player and an eight-speaker audio system, dual front airbags and front and rear side-impact SRS airbags (side-impact front and rear SRS airbags for North American-market models ONLY), cloth seating surfaces, a power-adjustable front driver's seat, air conditioning, power door locks and windows, tinted windows, aluminum-alloy wheels, keyless entry, wood interior trim accents, a split-folding second-row rear bench seat, and monotone exterior paint as standard equipment. Features such as satellite radio (on later models), leather-trimmed seating surfaces, heated front seats, a ten-speaker premium audio system, cassette and CD players, an in-dash CD changer, power front bucket seats, seventeen-inch (17") aluminum-alloy wheels, a power sunroof, two-tone exterior paint, and a security system were available regardless of trim level choice.

- Summary: The doors were locked by using the button on the driver side of our Kia Sorento. This is performed each time the car is traveling on the road. When the car was parked, the automatic unlock for all the doors worked for both front seat passengers but not the two rear doors. The inside handles for opening the doors on both of the rear passenger doors did not open. Attempting to prior the lock mechanism on both rear doors did not work either thus I was trapped in the back seat of the vehicle. I had to crawl out of the truck of the vehicle to exit. In my opinion, this poses a serious safety concern not only with this Kia but with other ones as well. What interesting about this incident is that mechanics, at Kia or other places have no idea how to solve the problem.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 4 recalls for different components of the 2007 Kia Sorento.

- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Sedona and 2007-2009 Sorento vehicles. Moisture may enter the Anti-lock Brake (ABS) Module and result in an electrical short.
- Consequence: An electrical short within the ABS Module may cause an engine compartment fire, even when the vehicle is turned off, increasing the risk of an injury.
- Remedy: Kia will notify owners, and dealers will install a relay in the main junction box to prevent power from being directed to the HECU when the vehicle's ignition switch is turned off, free of charge. The recall began June 5, 2020. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC186.

- Summary: Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 Rondo, model year 2007-2011 Sedona, Sorento and Sportage, model year 2010-2011 Soul, model year 2008-2011 Optima, model year 2010 Forte, model year 2007-2009 Amanti, and model year 2009 Borrego vehicles. Originally, in April 2013, Kia recalled 623,658 model year 2007-2010 Rondo and Sportage, model year 2007-2011 Sorento, model year 2007 Sedona, model year 2010-2011 Soul, and model year 2011 Optima vehicles. In September 2013, Kia informed the agency that it was adding an additional 356,719 vehicles to this campaign. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 980,377. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock feature preventing the shifter from being moved out of the PARK position and cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction light to illuminate.
- Consequence: Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, when the ignition is in the 'ON' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of PARK without first applying the brake. This may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Kia will send an interim notification to owners in May 2013. When parts are available, owners will receive a second notification and dealers will replace the stop lamp switch, free of charge. Owners may contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's recall campaign number is SC098.

THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG MAY BE TURNED OFF WHEN AN ADULT IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. WHEN THE AIR BAG IS DEACTIVATED THE "PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF" LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE ON THE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL.
- Consequence: THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG IS TURNED OFF WHEN THE OCS MISCLASSIFIES AN ADULT PASSENGER. WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF, THE FRONT PASSENGER WILL NOT HAVE THE PROTECTION OF THE PASSENGER AIR BAGS IN SOME FRONTAL COLLISIONS, THUS INCREASING THE RISK OF OCCUPANT INJURY.
- Remedy: KIA WILL UPDATE THE PROGRAMMING IN THE SORENTO OCS CONTROL MODULE AT NO CHARGE. THE RECALL REMEDY IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE UNDER SERVICE CAMPAIGN SC076. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-333-4542.

You get to drive this vehicle! It's powerful, fun, and looks great. The transmission is awesome - it's both manual and automatic, so you can pick your gear. There's plenty of room for moving what you need, but it's not a land yacht with a lot of wasted space.

I am confident in my assessment that the Sorento is a great vehicle. However, it is concerning that the rotors had to be replaced at less than 15000 miles and again at less than 28000 miles, despite my careful braking habits. Additionally, I have noticed some hesitation in speed and acceleration during stop-and-go situations, which can be alarming. While I have been told that this is due to the vehicle's computer adjusting to my driving style, I believe it is important to address these issues to ensure the safety and reliability of the vehicle. Despite these concerns, I remain overall satisfied with the Sorento.

You have a very nice car! It's really fast and powerful, and comfortable for long drives. The ride is smooth and the audio system is great. It may be a little thirsty, but overall it sounds like a fantastic ride!

This is a great vehicle for the money. Kia used to have a reputation as a third-rate company, but they have really stepped up their game. The sound of the door closing alone is a testament to the quality of the vehicle - no cheap pings here, just a solid thud.

I bought this SUV to upgrade from a minivan that I drove for 5 years. I'm really enjoying every aspect of this vehicle - the style, drive, color, and options are all great. It's definitely a fantastic SUV for the money I spent.

I traded in my 2004 Sedona van due to repeated brake issues, which included 2 sets of rotors and 4 brake jobs in just 64,000 miles. When I purchased my Sorrento, I was assured that the brake problems had been fixed. However, my Sorrento has only 37,000 miles and is already on its second set of replacement rotors. Unfortunately, the brake warranty is only valid for 12,000 miles, which is disappointing. Additionally, the scheduled maintenance required to keep the warranty intact is quite expensive, costing $524.00 for the 30,000 mile service. Although the gas mileage is not great for the size of the car, I still enjoy driving it. It is worth noting that the car depreciates rapidly, as my trade-in value is only $10,400 according to Kelly Blue Book.
