The Jaguar F-Pace (X761) is a compact luxury crossover SUV made by Jaguar Land Rover, a British car manufacturer, under their Jaguar marque. It is the first model to be built by Jaguar in the SUV class. It was formally announced at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, with sales commencing in 2016 following an unveiling at the 2015 International Motor Show Germany in Frankfurt.

The design of the F-Pace is based on the 2013 Jaguar C-X17 concept car. The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace has been named the honorary winner of the 2017 World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year Awards at the New York International Auto Show. The F-Pace is built at Jaguar Land Rover's Solihull plant along with the Range Rover Velar and employs an additional 1,300 workers.

Launch

An F-Pace production prototype made its public debut on 4 July 2015 by leading out the Team Sky professional cycle racing team during Le Grand Départ in Utrecht, Netherlands, at the start of the 2015 Tour de France. Customer deliveries started in April 2016 in Europe, and in May 2016 in the United States. The car made its official public début at the September 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show, an F-Pace, driven by professional stunt driver Terry Grant, performed a world-record-breaking 360 degree loop-the-loop.

Common Jaguar F-pace problems

Common Problems with Jaguar F-Pace Cars

The Jaguar F-Pace, a compact luxury crossover SUV, has been praised for its handsome styling and premium feel.

Driveshaft and Crankshaft Pulley Bolt Issues

One common problem with the Jaguar F-Pace is related to the driveshaft. This issue has been reported by many owners, although the specific details of the problem are not provided in the search results. Additionally, some F-Pace owners have experienced problems with the crankshaft pulley bolt. This issue can lead to a loss of drive and potentially even a collision, making it a serious concern for F-Pace owners.

CO2 Emissions and Fuel Leak Problems

Another common problem with the Jaguar F-Pace is related to CO2 emissions. This issue can lead to increased fuel consumption and higher emissions, which can be both costly and harmful to the environment. Furthermore, some F-Pace owners have reported fuel leaks, which can be both dangerous and damaging to the vehicle. These issues can be particularly problematic for owners who use their F-Pace for long trips or high-speed driving.

Instrument Panel Blanking Out

A common problem with the Jaguar F-Pace is related to the instrument panel. In some cases, the instrument panel may blank out, leaving the driver without vital information such as oil pressure, engine temperature, tire pressures, and vehicle speed. This issue can be caused by a faulty instrument pack or a faulty stop lamp switch, and can be particularly problematic when making left-hand turns or at other inconvenient moments.

Engine Overheating

While Jaguar has not issued a formal recall for this issue, many F-Pace owners have reported problems with engine overheating. This issue can be caused by a variety of factors, including coolant leaks and issues with the engine temperature gauge. To prevent engine overheating, it is important to have the cooling system inspected regularly and to flush the system with fresh coolant for maximum reliability.

Unexpected Dead Batteries

Some F-Pace owners have reported unexpected dead batteries after their vehicle has been sitting for a period of time. This issue can be caused by a software program that continues to run even when the vehicle is turned off, or by the vehicle recognizing the key fob nearby and beginning to run even if the driver is not in the car. While Jaguar may test and replace batteries under warranty in some instances, this can still be a significant inconvenience for owners.

In summary, the Jaguar F-Pace has experienced a number of common problems, particularly in its early years. These issues have included driveshaft and crankshaft pulley bolt problems, CO2 emissions and fuel leak issues, instrument panel blanking out, engine overheating, and unexpected dead batteries. While these issues can be frustrating and costly for owners, they are generally covered under warranty or recall during the early years of the vehicle's life. As the F-Pace ages and begins to see second and third owners, it is important to seek the help of a trustworthy local independent Jaguar mechanic to keep maintenance costs down and prevent major repair bills.

What are the problems with the Jaguar F-Pace?

Called the JLR Power Steering Alliance Group, it has more than 580 members, 130 of whom own F-Pace models registered between 2016-20 and which, they claim, are suffering water ingress of the electric steering motor, rendering the cars undrivable.

How reliable are Jaguar F-Pace?

Reliability Survey, the F-Pace came 15th out of 24 cars in the large SUV class. Its reliability score of 93.2% makes it a more reliable car than the rival Range Rover Velar, but less reliable than the Porsche Macan and 2015-2022 Mercedes GLC.

How long will a Jaguar F-Pace last?

Most Jaguar vehicles will last for at least 150,000 miles, but there's a lot that a driver can do to push this number much higher. With regular oil replacement, belt changes, spark plug replacement, and other basic maintenance services, you can ensure that your Jaguar lasts for 200,000 miles or more.

Is Jaguar F-Pace expensive to maintain?

Maintenance and repair costs for a Jaguar F-Pace will amount to $4,265 after 5 years. Expenses include scheduled maintenance, normal wear and tear items and expected repairs.

  • Summary: ADDITIONAL INFO FOR PRIOR SUBMISSION Link to forum where others share similar issue with their vehicles: [XXX] . Appears to be a growing issue. Jaguar has the part on out of stock status and requires U.S. dealers to order from the UK with no confirmed eta (told could take 5-6 weeks). As you can see in the picture I was given of the issue, I cannot drive this vehicle and Jaguar refuses to provide any support or contribution to remedy the issue. This includes not providing a replacement vehicle while my vehicle sits at the dealership. My standard driving conditions with this vehicle are city streets and general highway - no off-road conditions. Also no towing by the vehicle (it has never had a hitch installed). Please investigate how such an important component to maintain safe driving conditions is allowed to go unresolved, and ultimately be pushed on the consumer as their problem. Can’t imagine what would happen if and when one of these truly breaks while someone is driving. I was informed of the issue by the dealer after a multipoint inspection. My vehicle was one of three there at the same time with the same issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  • Components: STEERING
  • Summary: For a few years there has been many repairs and complaints about the power steering in the Jaguar F Pace. I was driving home Friday in the rain when out of nowhere the power steering quit working and I almost wrecked in a turn. I looked at the fluid which is full and check to see any loose wires and see nothing. I tried to call Jaguar Customer service and they told me to reach out to the service department then call back if there is any issues. Right now I am down without a car and I don’t feel like I should be at fault and pay for a failed power steering system. In the turn the car said Power Steering Assistance Reduced. There are reports of the failed steering in thousands of their cars from the years of 2017 to 2020. Some say the box starts to designate and some say it allows water to get in and damages the electrical components. I know that the milage on my vehicle is 95,000 but highway driving doesn’t cause that to happen.

  • Summary: I am writing to file a formal complaint against Carvana regarding the purchase of a 2017 Jaguar F-Pace. Despite driving less than 4189 miles, the vehicle requires extensive repairs costing $8,600.00 before taxes, with additional maintenance costs of $1,400.00. Carvana misrepresented the vehicle's condition, failing to disclose multiple engine and coolant leaks, which were discovered after purchase. They also did not inform me that an extended warranty was not available for the vehicle, and neglected to provide a copy of their inspection report details. The remaining vehicle loan is $28,000.00. Upon contacting Carvana about these issues, they stated that the car was outside the return window and refused further assistance. The repairs needed were massive and consistent with pre-existing conditions, indicating that Carvana neglected to perform adequate maintenance or disclose the damage. I am a remote worker and only travel to take my children to and from school daily. Despite this limited use, the vehicle has incurred significant damage, including massive oil and coolant leaks, posing a risk of injury to myself and my children, as well as the potential for explosion due to the extent of the leaks. Carvana's failure to disclose the vehicle inspection report at the time of purchase was a deceptive practice that concealed preexisting mechanical failures. This deceptive behavior placed me along with 4 minor children at risk of injury and a potentially catastrophic auto engine explosion or fire due to the extent of the leaks. Please investigate this known coolant leak issue that extends to oil engine issue it's many other owners are experiencing the same issue. This is why Carvana fails to offer extended warranty on purchase. This is a known issue impacting many other 2017 jaguar fpaces around or at same mileage mark. Latest negative Jaguar F-pace car reviews

  1. Norwood Altenwerth 2025-03-09

    Vehicle year: 2017

This car is a great choice for driving enthusiasts who enjoy a thrilling ride on curvy highways. However, for daily city driving with stop-and-go traffic, there are better options available. I have been driving my 2017 F-Pace 35T for about 8 months now and I am pleased with the upgraded InControl Touch Pro infotainment system. I purchased it as a CPO with only 7200 miles on it, which was a great way to save some money and still be within the breaking-in period for a new car. There is a lot to love about this car, including its sporty and attractive design, great passing power, responsive infotainment system with customized screens, high-quality leather seating surfaces, quiet cabin, throaty engine noise, plenty of cargo space, tight steering, and fantastic turn radius. The cargo door opens and closes quickly, which is a plus. However, there are some design issues that detract from the car. The small gas tank is a major issue, as 16.6 gallons is too small for a crossover with only acceptable fuel economy. I mostly do city driving and have to fill up every 250 miles or less. The infotainment system sometimes takes a while to boot up properly, and the convenience controls are in odd places. The window controls are at the top of the door by the window, while the memory controls are down on the armrest. The start button is where the volume knob should be, and the volume knob is where the tuning knob should sit. Unfortunately, there is no physical tuning knob. Also, there is far too much plastic on the interior for a $60k car. Higher-end models get more leather-wrapped surfaces, but Jaguar cheaped out on the Prestige model.Small object storage is a bit limited, which may make it difficult to store everyday items, especially if you prefer to keep them out of sight. Additionally, the rear seats do not fold flat. While some may prefer a tight suspension, for a daily driver, it may be a bit too tight, as you may feel every bump and imperfection in the road. Furthermore, there may be a creaking noise from the back, which can be a bit frustrating during daily drives. However, the car has many great features. The sluggish start from a dead stop may be a bit of an issue, but switching to Dynamic mode can help with city driving, although this may affect fuel economy. Lastly, the Auto-Stop feature can be a bit annoying, and it would be great to have the option to permanently disable it. The parking sensors work well in reverse, but the front sensors require an additional button to activate, which can be tedious, especially when combined with the Auto-Stop feature. Overall, the car is great, and these are just minor issues that can be overlooked. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!

  2. Leonard Schmeler 2025-02-14

    Vehicle year: 2020

In the first two weeks of owning the vehicle, I experienced some issues with the battery and the radiator fan. However, the battery was promptly replaced by the service department. Currently, the fan runs continuously and the check engine light has come on. Despite these challenges, I am confident that the service department will be able to address these issues and provide me with a loaner vehicle if necessary. I am hopeful that these problems will be resolved soon and I can continue to enjoy my lease.

  3. Gunner Wiza 2025-02-11

    Vehicle year: 2019

The seats in a premium Jaguar F-Pace are made of pleather, which is disappointing for a luxury car with such a high MSRP, especially considering that the premium 25t is not their basic model. Even the steering wheel has the same material, which can make it sound like you are rubbing plastic while driving. I also looked at their prestige model, and although it had leather seats, the steering wheel material was the same. It seems that you are paying more for the brand than for the vehicle interior. Additionally, you have to add features that are now basic in cars, which boosts the price to close to $60,000. However, negotiating with the dealer on the MSRP or selling price is difficult, as they are mainly interested in knowing how much your monthly payment can be. If you can't pay $600 or more, there is nothing they will do. Despite the disappointing interior, I loved the exterior of the car. It would be great if Jaguar made leather standard in all their vehicles. Maybe in another generation for me! Overall, the asking price is not worth it.

  4. Uriel Boyle 2025-02-11

    Vehicle year: 2018

The diesel engine boasts an impressive fuel economy of around 32mpg, while the handling and takeoff are great for a small engine. The exterior looks beautiful, but unfortunately the interior is disappointing due to the poor quality materials that are hard to clean and stain easily. It's worth noting that some features, such as keyless entry and lumbar support, are not included even at the high price point of over 55k. If you're considering this vehicle, it may be worth looking into leasing options or exploring Japanese competitors that offer better value for your money.

  5. Dane Murray 2025-01-29

    Vehicle year: 2021

My vehicle has experienced engine malfunctions three times in the three months since I purchased it. While the vehicle's appearance is a plus, other brands such as Audi, Porsche, BMW, and Alpha Romeo outperform it in all other aspects. I hope to avoid making the same mistake again and am eagerly anticipating getting rid of this vehicle.

Latest positive Jaguar F-pace car reviews

  1. Antonio Olson 2025-03-26

    Vehicle year: 2017

Hello! We recently purchased our 20D-R Sport SUV from Montreal, Canada and drove it all the way to our winter home in Phoenix, Arizona. Although we were a bit nervous about ordering the SUV without test driving it first, we were pleasantly surprised by its performance. The torque does all the work effortlessly and it's plenty fast enough, even uphill. We were able to drive at speeds of 75-82 mph with 600 lbs of luggage in the back for 10-14 hours a day and still get an impressive 35-41 mpg. Coming from Montreal where gas prices are between $4-5/gallon, the gas mileage was a major factor in our decision to buy this car. We've been Lexus RX and NX SUV owners for 17 years and needed a change. The Jaguar Navigation system was awesome and even gave us plenty of time to prepare for exits. The seats are incredibly comfortable and the 14-way adjustable seats are definitely worth the option. The car handles flawlessly and you feel like you're driving with all 4 PAWS on the road. We've read almost every review on this car and the few little complaints that came up are non-issues. For example, the window controls are up on top, but it's not a big deal since we don't roll down the windows that often. Plus, it adds to the unique design of the inside doors. We highly recommend this car!--The Standard Navigation is great and easy to use--no need to upgrade there. The base stereo at 380 watts is awesome--you don't need 825 watts. I haven't tried the voice command yet, but I gave up trying with all my Lexus SUV's--I have 5 of them over the years and none worked. The driving position is fantastic--you can see the front and sides of the car. This is the only SUV my wife can drive where she can actually see the front and sides. Other SUV's--all she saw was glass out the front which makes it more difficult to judge distances when turning or parking. The 20D is very quiet and after driving Lexus for 17 years with quiet and comfort--you do want that in a Luxury car--so I prefer the 20d over the 35T. I do hope this car is as reliable as Lexus was to me--in 17 years and 5 different SUV's with Lexus--I went to the dealer only once--for a rattle in the roof. That's why I kept buying them. Great job Jaguar---if it's as reliable as I am used to--I will be a customer for a long time.--

I've had my Jaguar F Pace S since March of 2017 and I bought it new with 8 miles on it. I've driven it long and hard on many trips and in daily driving and it always performs at the top of its game since the first day I bought it. One thing I noticed is that some YouTube reviews by professional talking heads and personal opinion leaders have given misinformation about the car's ride quality. However, what they failed to mention is that there is a comfort mode option which I use the majority of the time, unless I'm out intentionally racing around for fun. The ride is just as smooth as all the other cars I've driven, which included Porsche, Audi, Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, etc. I've driven them all and have owned most of them. I can confidently say that the F Pace and F Pace S have great handling and performance and ride just as smooth in comfort mode. My ponies get up and go religiously without fail. I have no experience with the Jaguar service department because I've never had to use it, other than for my normal oil changes, etc. The warranty was a huge seller for me as well. Nothing like it on any other car that I'm aware of. I drove all the Porsche SUVs and, other than needless expensive wood species or other non-important things to me, they have no comparison to the Jaguar F Pace, especially the aesthetics. In my opinion, they are almost as boring looking as the Tesla. It makes absolutely no sense to roll out all the extra dough for Maserati, Porsche, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, etc. just to have an ego badge and look financially ignorant to be gaudy and showy. The F Pace is a much more sophisticated statement indeed, not to mention the most discrete and best-looking car out of the whole bunch. I come from the high-end design world and understand scale, etc. and making all types of design statements for the top 10% of the 1%.And Jaguar really nailed it with the F-Pace - from the stunning design to the impressive performance, reliability, and value.

This car is really underrated! It's quick, handles great, and has plenty of room for two kids and all their stuff. Getting them in and out of car seats is a breeze, and the car is at the perfect level for loading and unloading. Plus, it's super comfortable on the highway with minimal road noise, and gets around 27 mpg. I absolutely love the steering wheel and stiffer suspension that make it feel like you're driving a sports car. The touchscreen is huge and works really well, and the car is covered by an excellent warranty for peace of mind. The only minor gripes I have are that the heated/ventilated seats are accessed only through the touchscreen (although there is a physical button to shortcut to this section), and occasionally on startup the touchscreen responds a little slowly (although restarting the vehicle, much like a cell phone restart, seems to resolve it). Overall, this is an excellent crossover!

After owning the car for a year now, I can confidently say that this is the best car I have ever owned. Although there are a few minor cons, such as the seat leather being a bit firm for some people and a few hard plastics in the lower door panels, the seats are incredibly comfortable and there is plenty of leg room, even for my 6'2The cargo area is impressively spacious, perhaps the largest in its class, providing ample room for week-long trips to the lake or wherever your destination may be. This luxury/performance SUV handles better than most sedans and sports cars I've owned, while still maintaining a firm yet comfortable ride on bumpy roads. It can tackle off-roading, snow, and slush with ease, thanks to its Land Rover-based all-wheel drive system, several drive modes, and low-speed cruise control for inclement weather or mud. The two-tone interior is sharp and well laid out, impressing everyone who sees it. The exterior is also one of the nicest I've seen on any vehicle, and although that's subjective, most people tend to agree that it's a very good-looking SUV. It's also refreshing that you don't see one on every corner, unlike the Q7, Q8, GLEs, X5s, and numerous other European machinery that dominate my neighborhood. If you're in the market for a luxurious and fun-to-drive SUV, you owe it to yourself to test drive an F-Pace. My initial attraction to this vehicle was its beautiful design, but after driving it, I knew it was the one for me. I will definitely be considering Jaguar products in the future.
