The Jaguar F-Pace (X761) is a compact luxury crossover SUV made by Jaguar Land Rover, a British car manufacturer, under their Jaguar marque. It is the first model to be built by Jaguar in the SUV class. It was formally announced at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, with sales commencing in 2016 following an unveiling at the 2015 International Motor Show Germany in Frankfurt.

The design of the F-Pace is based on the 2013 Jaguar C-X17 concept car. The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace has been named the honorary winner of the 2017 World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year Awards at the New York International Auto Show. The F-Pace is built at Jaguar Land Rover's Solihull plant along with the Range Rover Velar and employs an additional 1,300 workers.

Launch

An F-Pace production prototype made its public debut on 4 July 2015 by leading out the Team Sky professional cycle racing team during Le Grand Départ in Utrecht, Netherlands, at the start of the 2015 Tour de France. Customer deliveries started in April 2016 in Europe, and in May 2016 in the United States. The car made its official public début at the September 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show, an F-Pace, driven by professional stunt driver Terry Grant, performed a world-record-breaking 360 degree loop-the-loop.

Common Jaguar F-pace problems

Common Problems with Jaguar F-Pace Cars

The Jaguar F-Pace, a compact luxury crossover SUV, has been praised for its handsome styling and premium feel.

Driveshaft and Crankshaft Pulley Bolt Issues

One common problem with the Jaguar F-Pace is related to the driveshaft. This issue has been reported by many owners, although the specific details of the problem are not provided in the search results. Additionally, some F-Pace owners have experienced problems with the crankshaft pulley bolt. This issue can lead to a loss of drive and potentially even a collision, making it a serious concern for F-Pace owners.

CO2 Emissions and Fuel Leak Problems

Another common problem with the Jaguar F-Pace is related to CO2 emissions. This issue can lead to increased fuel consumption and higher emissions, which can be both costly and harmful to the environment. Furthermore, some F-Pace owners have reported fuel leaks, which can be both dangerous and damaging to the vehicle. These issues can be particularly problematic for owners who use their F-Pace for long trips or high-speed driving.

Instrument Panel Blanking Out

A common problem with the Jaguar F-Pace is related to the instrument panel. In some cases, the instrument panel may blank out, leaving the driver without vital information such as oil pressure, engine temperature, tire pressures, and vehicle speed. This issue can be caused by a faulty instrument pack or a faulty stop lamp switch, and can be particularly problematic when making left-hand turns or at other inconvenient moments.

Engine Overheating

While Jaguar has not issued a formal recall for this issue, many F-Pace owners have reported problems with engine overheating. This issue can be caused by a variety of factors, including coolant leaks and issues with the engine temperature gauge. To prevent engine overheating, it is important to have the cooling system inspected regularly and to flush the system with fresh coolant for maximum reliability.

Unexpected Dead Batteries

Some F-Pace owners have reported unexpected dead batteries after their vehicle has been sitting for a period of time. This issue can be caused by a software program that continues to run even when the vehicle is turned off, or by the vehicle recognizing the key fob nearby and beginning to run even if the driver is not in the car. While Jaguar may test and replace batteries under warranty in some instances, this can still be a significant inconvenience for owners.

In summary, the Jaguar F-Pace has experienced a number of common problems, particularly in its early years. These issues have included driveshaft and crankshaft pulley bolt problems, CO2 emissions and fuel leak issues, instrument panel blanking out, engine overheating, and unexpected dead batteries. While these issues can be frustrating and costly for owners, they are generally covered under warranty or recall during the early years of the vehicle's life. As the F-Pace ages and begins to see second and third owners, it is important to seek the help of a trustworthy local independent Jaguar mechanic to keep maintenance costs down and prevent major repair bills.

What are the problems with the Jaguar F-Pace?

Called the JLR Power Steering Alliance Group, it has more than 580 members, 130 of whom own F-Pace models registered between 2016-20 and which, they claim, are suffering water ingress of the electric steering motor, rendering the cars undrivable.

How reliable are Jaguar F-Pace?

Reliability Survey, the F-Pace came 15th out of 24 cars in the large SUV class. Its reliability score of 93.2% makes it a more reliable car than the rival Range Rover Velar, but less reliable than the Porsche Macan and 2015-2022 Mercedes GLC.

How long will a Jaguar F-Pace last?

Most Jaguar vehicles will last for at least 150,000 miles, but there's a lot that a driver can do to push this number much higher. With regular oil replacement, belt changes, spark plug replacement, and other basic maintenance services, you can ensure that your Jaguar lasts for 200,000 miles or more.

Is Jaguar F-Pace expensive to maintain?

Maintenance and repair costs for a Jaguar F-Pace will amount to $4,265 after 5 years. Expenses include scheduled maintenance, normal wear and tear items and expected repairs.

  • Summary: ADDITIONAL INFO FOR PRIOR SUBMISSION Link to forum where others share similar issue with their vehicles: [XXX] . Appears to be a growing issue. Jaguar has the part on out of stock status and requires U.S. dealers to order from the UK with no confirmed eta (told could take 5-6 weeks). As you can see in the picture I was given of the issue, I cannot drive this vehicle and Jaguar refuses to provide any support or contribution to remedy the issue. This includes not providing a replacement vehicle while my vehicle sits at the dealership. My standard driving conditions with this vehicle are city streets and general highway - no off-road conditions. Also no towing by the vehicle (it has never had a hitch installed). Please investigate how such an important component to maintain safe driving conditions is allowed to go unresolved, and ultimately be pushed on the consumer as their problem. Can’t imagine what would happen if and when one of these truly breaks while someone is driving. I was informed of the issue by the dealer after a multipoint inspection. My vehicle was one of three there at the same time with the same issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  • Components: STEERING
  • Summary: For a few years there has been many repairs and complaints about the power steering in the Jaguar F Pace. I was driving home Friday in the rain when out of nowhere the power steering quit working and I almost wrecked in a turn. I looked at the fluid which is full and check to see any loose wires and see nothing. I tried to call Jaguar Customer service and they told me to reach out to the service department then call back if there is any issues. Right now I am down without a car and I don’t feel like I should be at fault and pay for a failed power steering system. In the turn the car said Power Steering Assistance Reduced. There are reports of the failed steering in thousands of their cars from the years of 2017 to 2020. Some say the box starts to designate and some say it allows water to get in and damages the electrical components. I know that the milage on my vehicle is 95,000 but highway driving doesn’t cause that to happen.

  • Summary: I am writing to file a formal complaint against Carvana regarding the purchase of a 2017 Jaguar F-Pace. Despite driving less than 4189 miles, the vehicle requires extensive repairs costing $8,600.00 before taxes, with additional maintenance costs of $1,400.00. Carvana misrepresented the vehicle's condition, failing to disclose multiple engine and coolant leaks, which were discovered after purchase. They also did not inform me that an extended warranty was not available for the vehicle, and neglected to provide a copy of their inspection report details. The remaining vehicle loan is $28,000.00. Upon contacting Carvana about these issues, they stated that the car was outside the return window and refused further assistance. The repairs needed were massive and consistent with pre-existing conditions, indicating that Carvana neglected to perform adequate maintenance or disclose the damage. I am a remote worker and only travel to take my children to and from school daily. Despite this limited use, the vehicle has incurred significant damage, including massive oil and coolant leaks, posing a risk of injury to myself and my children, as well as the potential for explosion due to the extent of the leaks. Carvana's failure to disclose the vehicle inspection report at the time of purchase was a deceptive practice that concealed preexisting mechanical failures. This deceptive behavior placed me along with 4 minor children at risk of injury and a potentially catastrophic auto engine explosion or fire due to the extent of the leaks. Please investigate this known coolant leak issue that extends to oil engine issue it's many other owners are experiencing the same issue. This is why Carvana fails to offer extended warranty on purchase. This is a known issue impacting many other 2017 jaguar fpaces around or at same mileage mark. Latest negative Jaguar F-pace car reviews

  1. Darion Muller 2025-06-10

    Vehicle year: 2017

After 70k miles, things may start to go wrong, such as needing a new headlight assembly which can cost up to $3,000. It's always a good idea to consider purchasing warranties to protect yourself from unexpected expenses.

  2. Rodger Legros 2025-06-04

    Vehicle year: 2018

I purchased a 2017 F-Pace, but unfortunately had trouble with the infotainment center. The dealer replaced the car with a 2018 F-Pace, which initially had some issues with the infotainment system as well. However, the dealer updated the software and it now works most of the time. I did experience some other issues, such as a cracked sunroof and a check coolant light that kept coming on. The dealer replaced the hoses and water pump, and now everything seems to be working well. I did have a small issue with the letters falling off the back of the car, but the dealer fixed it promptly. Although I did send a certified letter to Jaguar USA, I unfortunately did not receive a response. Overall, I am happy with my F-Pace and appreciate the dealer's efforts to resolve any issues that arose.

  3. Jamey Wilderman 2025-05-21

    Vehicle year: 2019

I noticed that the 2018 model has a cramped rear seat, some issues with the electrics, and headlights that are not as bright as I would like. Additionally, there is no blind-side assist. Personally, I much prefer my wife's MB GLC. I recently replaced my F-Pace with an Audi Q3.

  4. Misael Reichert 2025-05-18

    Vehicle year: 2022

My vehicle has experienced engine malfunctions three times in the three months since I purchased it. While the vehicle's appearance is a plus, other brands such as Audi, Porsche, BMW, and Alpha Romeo outperform it in all other aspects. I hope to avoid making the same mistake again and am eagerly anticipating getting rid of this vehicle.

  5. Granville Tromp 2025-05-15

    Vehicle year: 2021

In the first two weeks of owning the vehicle, I experienced some issues with the battery and the radiator fan. However, the battery was promptly replaced by the service department. Currently, the fan runs continuously and the check engine light has come on. Despite these challenges, I am confident that the service department will be able to address these issues and provide me with a loaner vehicle if necessary. I am hopeful that these problems will be resolved soon and I can continue to enjoy my lease.

Latest positive Jaguar F-pace car reviews

  1. Ludwig Bayer 2025-06-17

    Vehicle year: 2018

We purchased this car specifically because it was one of the few models that could accommodate three child car seats side by side, without having to resort to a massive SUV, truck or van. Now we have a fun 'grandma and grandpa' sports car! The only issue we have encountered is with the seat belt retracting mechanism when using a booster seat. Occasionally, it gets hung up due to the angle of the belt, so we have to check it every time. When it does get stuck, it doesn't retract properly.

  2. Stefan Schmitt 2025-06-12

    Vehicle year: 2017

I recently traded in my 2008 BMW X5, which I had owned for 8.5 years. I was initially hesitant to switch to a Jaguar due to concerns about the brand's reliability history. However, after doing some research and taking two test drives, I realized that the Jaguar SUV was the perfect fit for me. I'm not usually one to lease, but with a 5-year warranty and scheduled maintenance, it was a no-brainer. Overall, the car is fantastic. While there have been a few minor issues, such as the door speaker making crackling sounds when using the phone and the driver's seat making a clicking sound when I move around, these have not detracted from my overall enjoyment of the car. Occasionally, the Bluetooth connection doesn't automatically connect my phone to the car, but this is easily remedied by selecting it manually on the screen. The navigation system gave me a strange route once, but the dealer recommended downloading an app for navigation and connecting my phone to the car via USB for a better experience. The only disappointment is that the standard tech set doesn't include a CD player, which is only available with the Technology package upgrade. However, I chose not to upgrade due to concerns about glitches in the dashboard instrument panel. I also wish the tank size was slightly larger. Despite these minor issues, I'm extremely happy with my purchase and would highly recommend the Jaguar SUV to anyone in the market for a new car.

  3. Price Littel 2025-06-11

    Vehicle year: 2018

This review is for the 2018 F-Pace 2.0 Diesel with 7,000 miles. I am happy to report that I have experienced absolutely no technical issues with this vehicle. The F-Pace is made in Great Britain, with an engine from Great Britain and a transmission from Germany. In our garage, we also have the 2016 Lexus RX350 made in Canada, and we have had no major problems with this vehicle either. My wife prefers the RX350 because of its roomier interior, quieter and softer ride, more luxurious interior feel, high-end materials, brave exterior design, and best LED headlights in the industry. She calls it the “women’s car” and I have noticed that about 80% of RX drivers are women. While I also liked the RX350, I absolutely love the F-Pace. It is the best driving vehicle I have ever owned and provides pure pleasure on the turns. In my opinion, it is the best-looking vehicle in its segment and handles like a sport sedan due to torque vectoring and sport suspension. It accelerates like another brand's gas V6’s due to the turbocharger and very high torque of 318 ft. lbs. The F-Pace provides great all-weather performance due to standard Land Rover’s AWD technology (rear axle based!!). The steering wheel is very sensitive, especially in Sport mode – this vehicle really listens to you and you fully feel the car (Swiss precision). The navigation system is great, and there are many great features from the 5-year free Jaguar Remote App to the panoramic glass roof and large trunk. The F-Pace is an absolute segment leader (including Hybrids) with 32 mpg city and 38 mpg highway. The movable gear selector knob is very cool, and the main thing: British prestige. Yes, there are small issues I did notice: the interior should have more high-quality materials (remember, mine is the base model...), the auto start/stop doesn’t remember your preferences after the engine restarts, it's not too roomy and doesn't have reclining rear seats (mine is the base model...maybe because this is a sport, not a family car), the rear and side visibility is not too good, and the base headlights are weak (mine are not LED). The base sound system is mediocre, and the unpainted cheap plastic door handle inside is not very pleasant. The interior smell is also not very pleasant (mine is artificial leather, maybe that’s why). In conclusion:This vehicle is designed for those who enjoy driving, rather than for family softness and luxury cruising. It has legendary Land Rover off-road roots, and the famous handling from Jaguar's long motorsport history. If you are tired of German or Japanese luxury cars and are looking for something unique, not thirsty, prestigious, handsome, fresh, sporty, and with great handling, steering, and acceleration, then the F-Pace 2.0 Diesel is definitely for you. If you have a family or are looking for a softer, quieter, and more luxurious ride, then the RX350 is the better option. However, please remember that on winding roads, driving the super comfy RX350 will be at least 30 mph slower. Lastly, an interesting fact I just learned is how 'boutique' this brand is: Jaguar sold the same amount of cars in the whole USA as BMW sold just in the Chicagoland area in the same period of time. Would you like to drive something unique? Thank you for reading, and good luck with your decision!

This vehicle is truly impressive! It has unbelievable fuel economy, currently receiving 34mpg in town and 40mpg on the highway at 70mph, computed against fuel receipts. The fuel economy continues to increase as miles accumulate, currently at 8500 miles. The 18

Congratulations on your new 2020 SVR F Pace! It's great to hear that you're enjoying driving it and that it has exceeded your expectations. The ride sounds fantastic, and the muffler option seems like a great addition. It's wonderful that you also purchased the f type convertible R model, and it's even better to hear that you prefer these cars over all Mercedes. Thank you for recommending this SUV to others who can afford it. It sounds like a truly amazing vehicle that is worth the investment!
