Infiniti Q60 problems

The Infiniti Q60 is a 2-door sport luxury coupe manufactured by Japanese automaker Infiniti. It is the successor to the Infiniti G coupe and convertible. The Q60 nameplate was first used as a rebranding of Infiniti G coupes. A new version was introduced in early 2016, as a 2017 model.
First generation (2013; V36)
The first-generation Infiniti Q60 was based on the fourth generation (V36) G Coupe. This came about when Infiniti former president Johan de Nysschen cited the need for "a new identity and direction to promote consumer familiarity with our model range as we expand the portfolio." Beginning in 2014, all passenger cars would be "Q" followed by a two-digit number. Those numbers would correspond to the vehicle’s position in the Infiniti hierarchy.
Second generation (2016; V37)
The second-generation Infiniti Q60 was unveiled at the 2015 North American International Auto Show as a concept. A year later, Infiniti unveiled the production version at the 2016 North American International Auto Show, followed by the European version debuting at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
The vehicles went on sale in the end of 2016 as models for 2017. Early models included 2.0t, 3.0t (304/405PS).
American models went on sale as model year vehicles for 2017. Early models included 2.0t, 2.0t AWD, 3.0t (304PS), 3.0t AWD (304PS) in August 2016; followed by Red Sport 400 and Red Sport 400 AWD later in September 2016. 3.0t Sport and 3.0t Sport AWD went on sale in December 2016. Europe models were set to go on sale in October 2016 as a model year for 2017. Early models included 2.0t, followed by 3.0t (405PS).
The 2017 Q60 received many major upgrades like a lower and wider body, introduction of second generation Direct Adaptive Steering, Drive Mode Selector with custom settings profile, hydraulic electronic rack and pinion power steering system standard (2.0t), introduction of Dynamic Digital Suspension, retuned seven speed automatic transmission, Active Grille Shutter in V6 engine models, and for the first time, all new turbocharged engines. The Q60 Convertible was discontinued for the second generation.
Following the redesign, the new Q60 is able to have a drag coefficient of just 0.28, and zero front and rear lift. This allows the vehicle to remain stable at high speeds and in crosswind conditions. This is due to the all-new Active Grille Shutters, which help balance the engine's cooling requirements while also enhancing aerodynamics. The grille shutters remains closed under normal use, and open up when greater performance is required.
The Q60 is available in several trims: Pure, Luxe, Sport and Red Sport 400.
The only engine choice for the Pure and Luxe trims is the Mercedes-Benz sourced 2.0L turbocharged engine(Not true at least since 2019 as current Pure and Luxe Q60 comes with a 3.0L Turbo Charged engine.), while the Sport and Red Sport receive the all new 3.0L turbocharged Nissan VR engine. The engine is the same for both the Sport and Red Sport trims, however, the Red Sport model is tuned to make 400 hp (298 kW). The Sport trim's output is 300hp and. All engines are mated to a 7-speed automatic, and the 3.0t is also equipped with dual automatic transmission coolers. The 6-speed manual was dropped for the second generation.
Q60 Red Sport 400 is based on Q60 3.0t (304PS) coupe. Features include 14" rotors on the front and 13.8" rotors on the rear, opposed 2 and 4 piston red calipers, sport tuned Digital Dynamic Suspension, semi aniline leather appointed sport seats, aluminium accented pedals and paddle shifters, unique dual brushed satin finish Red Sport 400 exhaust tips, exclusive 20 inch sport aluminium-alloy wheels (staggered for RWD models) and chrome finished red 'S' exterior sport badging on the trunk and front fenders.
The Q60 also offers slew of new technologies and safety features. For 2018 model year, the ProAssist Package consisted of: Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Around View® Monitor with Moving Object Detection, Front & Rear Parking Sensors, Rain Sensing Wipers and Backup Collision Intervention® with Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The ProActive Package adds: Intelligent Cruise Control with Full Speed Range, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Departure Prevention with Active Lane Control, Blind Spot Intervention, Distance Control Assist, Advanced Climate Control System with Plasmacluster and Grape Polyphenol filter, auto leveling Adaptive Front Lighting System with High Beam Assist, front seat pre-crash seatbelts and Direct Adaptive Steering.

What years of Q60 to avoid?
Still, there are some years that stand out as worse than others. We recommend steering clear of the 2014, 2015, and 2017 models on the market. They may require you to pay for pricey repairs and take up time the working person does not have on their hands. The worst area for the Infiniti QX60 is in the transmission.

200,000 miles
When an INFINITI QX60 is properly cared for and given proper maintenance, it can continue to last and provide luxury for 200,000 miles or more, especially when most of the driving it sees is smooth highway driving. Other factors involved in vehicular life span are climate conditions and driving habits.
Is it expensive to maintain an Infiniti Q60?
The annual maintenance cost of an INFINITI Q60 is $746. Repair and maintenance costs vary depending on age, mileage, location and shop.

- VIN: JN1EV7EK3HM
- Components: AIR BAGS,SEATS
- Summary: Infiniti called me on 05/08/24 to discuss and review Infiniti Case # [XXX] including Infiniti’s subsequent refusal to remedy a defective SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) sensor on my 2017 Infiniti Q60 with 54,100 miles (VIN: [XXX] ). This defect was confirmed on 05/07/24 by Infiniti of Melbourne Florida through an authorized technician. While I am the original owner of the vehicle, Infiniti stated they will not provide any financial assistance to rectify the issue because the vehicle is outside of the manufacturers warranty, while acknowledging that there have been numerous customer complaints related to this problem and that Infiniti has been aware of defective SRS parts effecting a critical safety device that renders the air bag system inoperable. Moreover, to repair such a deficiency, based on Infiniti’s design, the entire seat must be replaced costing over $8K, an exorbitant and onerous amount, often more than 50% of the vehicles value. This excessive financial charge has deliberately burdened Infiniti owners with a safety related component. For several years this issue has been recurrently discussed on multiple public forums and yet Infiniti has intentionally decided not to remedy this safety issue or provide any assistance or consideration to its customers. I’ve attached an Infiniti forum link (one of dozens) proving that Infiniti has known about this problem going back over a decade and failed to take any action and instead prolonged a predatory pricing scheme that is harming owners. [XXX] ) As a result of Infiniti’s complete intransigence on a safety related matter, the National Hwy. Traffic Safety Admin. (NHTSA), should compel Infiniti to remedy this situation. It’s hoped that Infiniti will take immediate action to correct this situation and not abandon its owners in an untenable, unsafe and unjustifiable predicament. - Date Complaint: 2024-03-20
- VIN: JN1FV7EK8HM
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: OCS passenger seat weight sensor failed. Dealership verified this. They say to repair will be $8000 to replace whole seat. This is a common problem with hundreds of complaints mentioned on online forums. There was a recall for this issue on prior year Infiniti models but that recall doesn’t include newer than 2016. Infiniti refuses to replace under warranty. (They replaced the driver seatbelt retractor assembly under warranty, but won’t repair the airbag issue). The weight sensor does not register that someone is sitting in the seat.
Infiniti Q60 2017
- Date Of Incident: 2024-02-12
- Date Complaint: 2024-02-12
- VIN: JN1EV7EK1HM
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: Airbag Occupant Sensor for passenger seat ceased to function. "Passenger Airbag Off" indicator light remains on even with passenger in seat. Check airbag light in dash remains lit. Took car to infiniti dealership to diagnose. They quoted $8000 repair price to replace entire seat frame. They claim the sensor is built into the seat frame and individual sensors can not be replaced. The quoted price is more than half the value of the car and is cost prohibitive to repair. I have read many posts where this is a common problem for this car. There was a recall for earlier car models with similar problem but this car is not covered. See Infiniti bulletin [XXX] . It is the same problem. I feel unsafe driving this car now but the repair cost is unreasonable and infiniti should not make the repair so expensive as it compromises the safety of the consumer. The glass looks pushed out from the inside. I’ve been calling the dealer ship to ask about recalls. I have looked online and their is a whole forum page about other cars that had the same issue and there’s one specific to Infiniti models. Please help I just don’t want to fix it right now and have it keep on happening if it’s some type of manufacturing defect

Vehicle year: 2018
undefinedAt the end of the day, we only put 19000 miles on our 3 year old Q50 sedan, so we won't be considered high mileage drivers even when my Mazda lease is up and we don't replace it to become a one car household. Since I work from home exclusively now, a second car is not required. Anyway, we absolutely love this Q60. Any car that brings a smile to my face is a winner in my book, and that doesn't happen too often. My Audi S3 in England had the same effect. So, if you're in the market for a hot-looking coupe with more than enough power and refinement, you should definitely consider the Q60. It's a totally beautiful car that you won't regret buying.

Vehicle year: 2017
I've read some reviews criticizing the electronic steering, but in my opinion, it's not a big deal. Unless you're driving a stage coach, feeling every pebble on the road can be cumbersome, especially on long trips. The Q60 is a Grand Touring style coupe that offers both comfort and performance in one package. I've leased both the 2017 and 2018 red sport models, the first being RWD and the second AWD. The Bose sound system is fantastic, and the collision avoidance works very well. The pro pilot assist also greatly reduces fatigue on long road trips. Whenever I drive a car without electronic steering, it feels very tedious. I suppose those who don't like it or compare it to a Playstation or Xbox just haven't had enough time behind the wheel of a Q60 to realize that it's a good thing. The acceleration in this car is very, very nice. It's a beautiful car that draws admirers wherever I go. Mercedes-style looks are boring, Volkswagen interiors are cheap, and BMW doesn't bring the bang for the buck. Hands down, the Infinity Q60 is a worthy successor of the G35 and G37 of yore. This car drives at 160mph as smoothly as 20mph. Anyone looking for road feel should drive a hydraulically assisted steering vehicle on gravel roads. I like my drive as smooth as possible without having to fight the steering wheel. Way to go Infinity!

Vehicle year: 2020
I've been the proud owner of the Q60S Red Sport 400 for a month now and I must say, it's been an absolute joy. Having owned BMWs (740i, 540i & M5) & Audis (S4 Cabrio and S5 Coupe) in the past, I can confidently say that the exterior appearance of this car is truly breathtaking. I often find myself walking backwards away from the car just so I can look at it more. The interior design is also very well done and the front seats are simply magic. They provide outstanding comfort and lateral stability. The engine performance is nothing short of a giggle machine with a start button. Just mash the throttle and laugh! The 400bhp & 350ft/lb of torque are available from 2500 RPMs all the way to redline. My favorite move is when I'm on the open freeway & impatiently slogging along behind some snow bird doing 55 in a 65 zone. I lightly tug the downshift paddle twice to take me to 5th gear and bury the boot. Good lord, the acceleration is instant and fantastic! Within a few seconds, I'm doing 100MPH and rushing quickly towards 120MPH if I'm not careful. I've had the car up to 125MPH so far and the stability & smoothness inspires a ton of confidence. The car just seems to sit down on its haunches the faster you go. To top it off, the Bose sound system is hands-down the best sounding system I've heard in any car. I know, I know. No highs, no lows, it's gotta be a Bose. That may have been true five years ago, but this system, in this particular car is brilliant. So perfectly clean, with large bass response (no annoying rattle) and crisp highs that just sing. Maybe the Mark Levinson system in the Lexus LS600H is better, but then you're paying $120k for a sedan, so... Lastly, the handling is so good to the point where it's annoying. I cannot seem to get the car to oversteer or understeer. The car handles corners with complete neutrality, and if I turn off the dynamic anti-skid nannies, I could probably get the car to slide some. However, I am reticent to do that until I have a better feel for the 16lb/ft of turbo boost coming from the twin chargers. The braking is strong and linear, and I adapted to the brakes the first day, which is a testament to how well -- and predictably -- they stop. The car comes with so much safety technology that any normal person is safer in this car than in Fort Knox. Even though I lean towards the imbecilic, I'm sure I can personally figure out a way to get into a wreck. Now, for the less than stellar aspects. First, the steering. The DAS steering is as vague as everyone says it is. It's really designed and set up for long trips where comfort and low-fatigue are more important than feeling connected to the car. I wish there was a way to turn it off. The shift response is inconsistent. Downshifts under light acceleration come when they feel like it, and downshifts under hard acceleration come fairly quickly. However, if you've ever driven a Porsche with the PDK dual clutch, the Q60 Red Sport ain't even in the same universe. Again, you're paying less than half the price, so... Still, for $62k, you'd think a less awesome dual clutch auto-trans would be mated to this terrific engine. As lovely as the interior is, there are a few nits. There are some very specific areas where the materials chosen are just plain cheap. The lower part of the interior door assembly, for example, is made of cheap plastic. The inside of the glove box, center console storage, and cigarette lighter opening are covered in the cheapest felt-like substance known to man. It's like those 1970s glow-in-the-dark posters with the black fuzzy stuff. Yeah, that stuff (they still make that?).The rocker switch for the Infiniti Drive Mode and the circular mouse control are made of hollow chromed plastic, which doesn't feel very sturdy when you're pulling, pushing or twisting them. It would be great if real aluminum was used for these controls. Although the car has seat heat and steering wheel heat, it lacks seat ventilation/cooling, which is a big deal for me as I live in Phoenix, AZ. I almost didn't buy the car because of this. Many other car manufacturers such as Infiniti's other models, Honda, Toyota, Ford, Chevy, Opel, Kia and Hyundai offer seat ventilation. I love these seats, but I won't have a complete experience until they have ventilation. Lastly, the exhaust note is not very noticeable. When you first start the car, there is a slight growl that seems promising, but once the engine speed dies down to idle, the car is almost as quiet as a Tesla. If you put the car in

Hi there! I noticed that you're looking for a sporty and fun-to-drive AWD vehicle in Minneapolis. After considering a few options, it seems like you've narrowed your search down to the Audi A5, BMW, and Infiniti Q60. Ultimately, you decided to go with the Q60 due to concerns about repair costs. Unlike the BMW and Audi, the Q60 doesn't require dealership maintenance and your local mechanic can handle any necessary repairs. Plus, the price is much more competitive. I hope you enjoy your new car!

I didn't opt for the AWD and found it challenging to utilize all the power as the back end tends to drift even with slight pressure. While I have experience handling powerful vehicles, it was difficult to push the 0-60 without losing control of the rear. Nonetheless, this car is a great value for the price and provides an enjoyable driving experience. I highly recommend it, but if you're looking for more stability, consider going for the AWD.

I've owned 4 Infiniti coupes, starting with the g35, and I have liked all of them. However, after the g35, the quality of the interior has always been disappointing. My current 2017 q60 3.0t has had issues with the infotainment system since I first drove it off the lot. I've had it in to the dealership 2 times over the past 2 years, but unfortunately, they haven't been able to figure it out and have blamed my iPhone. I've tried 5 different cables and even without the iPhone attached, the system still reboots. Despite these issues, I still appreciate Infiniti's quality and design, but I will consider certified used Infiniti's in the future. The problems with the infotainment system are that it randomly reboots, sometimes after just a few minutes but mostly after an hour+ of driving.

The engine failed at 70,187 miles, which is 187 miles beyond the warranty period. Despite having all services performed by Infiniti trained technicians and following all recommendations from the owner's manual, Infiniti declined to make an exception. However, I am confident in the professional maintenance of the vehicle.

EXTERIOR: The exterior is truly stunning, receiving compliments from passersby and drivers alike. INTERIOR: It is surprising that a luxury brand could miss the mark by not offering apple carplay or android auto for four years. However, it is reassuring to know that it will be available in the 2021 models. The dual monitors are an interesting feature, and it would be intriguing to see data on how people use them. While the GPS provided by the manufacturer may not be popular, WAZE integration would be a welcome addition. TRANSMISSION: The car's speed can feel either exhilarating or unpredictable, but it is still a top performer in its class. BACKUP CAMERA: The backup camera is functional, even without the expensive assist package. PERFORMANCE: The car's low profile and excellent ride control make it a joy to drive, with the ability to switch lanes quickly and confidently. SPORTS CAR FEEL: While it may not have the full sports car experience, the car's sleek design is sure to turn heads. The technology could be improved, but overall it is a solid choice for those seeking a luxury vehicle. The drive modes do not provide a significant enough difference to justify the cost.
