2015 Hyundai Veloster problems
The Hyundai Veloster (Korean: 현대 벨로스터, romanized: Hyeondae Belloseuteo) is a compact car first produced in 2011 by Hyundai, with sales beginning in South Korea on March 10, 2011, and in Canada and the United States since the fall of 2011. In South Korea, it was marketed under Hyundai's 'Premium Youth Lab'. It was unveiled on January 10, 2011, at the Detroit Auto Show, and fills the void left when Hyundai discontinued the Hyundai Tiburon after the 2008 model year.
The car differs from most other hatchbacks with its asymmetrical door configuration, featuring one large door on the driver side and two smaller doors on the passenger side. This configuration is more common on commercial vehicles and minivans. In North America, the Veloster was equipped with Blue Link, a new telematics system which will eventually be standard on all Hyundai models. The system is comparable to OnStar in General Motors vehicles, and provides customers with automatic crash notification, vehicle diagnostics, and remote control of vehicle features, among others.
Development and early concepts
HND-3 concept (2007)
The Hyundai HND-3 concept was the third sport compact concept car styled at Hyundai's Design and Technical Center. It included 2.0-liter DOHC Theta inline four-cylinder engine and five-speed automatic transmission. The concept car became a Veloster Coupe in 2011.
The car concept was unveiled at the 2007 Seoul Motor Show, with the final production version released on January 11 at the Detroit Auto Show. The Veloster is developed under the codename FS, and is built on a modified version of the Cee'd's front-wheel drive platform.

Common 2015 Hyundai Veloster problems
The Hyundai Veloster, a hatchback coupe with a unique three-door layout, has been a subject of both love and hate among car enthusiasts. While some appreciate its striking design and peppy engine, others criticize its unconventional design, compromised rear-seat comfort, and polarizing appeal. This article focuses on common problems with the Hyundai Veloster, specifically the 2015 model, based on complaints from its owners.
- Engine Problems: Engine issues are another concern for Veloster owners. Problems range from knocking noises and loss of power for approximately 10 seconds to going into limp mode and excessive oil consumption. These signs should not be ignored, as they can lead to a complete engine failure. Unless you're a mechanic, it's recommended to leave the job to a professional to avoid budget and headache issues in the long run.
- Connecting Rod Failure: The connecting rod, an essential part of the engine, ties the piston to the crankshaft and creates rotational torque. However, Hyundai Veloster connecting rods are not durable enough to withstand high pressure for many years, especially if you like to run at full throttle. Replacing connecting rods or the whole engine assembly might be necessary at the 60,000+ mile mark.
- Bluetooth Connectivity and Syncing Issues: Owners of the 2013-2015 Hyundai Veloster have reported problems connecting their smartphones. In some cases, the connection breaks suddenly for no reason, and another issue is a completely frozen entertainment system.
These common problems with the Hyundai Veloster, particularly the 2015 model, highlight the importance of regular maintenance and addressing issues promptly to avoid more significant problems down the road.

Then they said the leak down/compression test showed the exhaust valves had broken and they would need to do a long block replacement. Also mentioned they needed to have Hyundai allow them to release that long block as it is part of a recall on other vehicles. Later was told Hyundai did not approve it under the warranty.

ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-10-26
- VIN: KMHTC6AE9FU
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: The car I bought in February in a used car lot was, per the salesperson, in excellent condition, had recently done oil changes, and had allegedly no failures. After less than 3k miles, I got stalled on the freeway with a knocking noise; Frank Hyundai mechanics diagnosed it with a CVV oil sensor red flag. I then paid for the repairs after getting denied from both my Hyundai warranty and my extended warranty. This was neglect when I drove that car for just a few months, like a weekend car, less than 3k miles. The car was still stalling on the freeway, shooting smoke, and the check engine light came on. I miraculously made it in one piece to work; however, the car had to be towed back to Frank Hyundai, where, to this day, they still have not been able to repair or precisely diagnose my vehicle, so I have been without my vehicle for almost a month and a half. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one with this problem; I think it's unfair to pay for the past owner's negligence.
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-10-18
- VIN: KMHTC6AE9FU
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: I bought this vehicle from a used car lot in February 2023, not 2022, and drove it under 3k miles; when I took it, it had 86k miles, and the check engine light came on. I took it to FRANK HYUNDAI, where, to this day, have not been able to help me; all this time, I, the consumer, had to chase down the repair guy assigned to my car and, only to be vaguely told it was sludge and metal shedding. It might be my misuse or neglect when I had driven the damn thing before even recommended servicing or an oil change was needed. I also called Hyundai Motors corporate, where a case manager suggested a goodwill repair, but nothing had been done. I would appreciate any help NHTSA could provide as there are campaigns on this model car with engine rod failures, and the damn extended warranty should apply to subsequent owners.
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE PROBLEM

Positive 2015 Hyundai Veloster car reviews

Not only is this car fuel-efficient, but it also has great mileage!
-
This car is amazing value for money! I am extremely satisfied with this mini beast and don't even know where to begin. The technology is top-notch, the driveability is fantastic, the acceleration is impressive, and the handling is superb. Even challengers, mustangs, and camaros look over and admire it. Once the turbo lag is gone, I'm off! If I had to choose one thing, I'd say that the natural aspirated veloster is my other car, but the turbo is where it's at! I've already put 10k miles on the turbo with 25k.
-
The car handles really well and has great grip on corners. It accelerates fast too. However, the electronics can be a bit slow and sometimes work intermittently.

I had a turbo veloster which was a decent car until it reached 60-70k miles. Unfortunately, the roof and hatch started to rust and it began burning oil. Surprisingly, even though it was burning at least 2 quarts every 1k miles, no oil light ever came on! Right before I sold it with 100k miles, I noticed that the clock was not working properly and would never stay set. Overall, my experience with these Hyundai and Kia cars was not great. I would not recommend buying one, and I personally will not be purchasing one again.
Alek Hills 2024-11-04
We've had our Veloster for around 100k miles now. We purchased it with 6,000 miles on it, so unfortunately the warranty was voided. So far, we've had to spend thousands of dollars on repairs for this car. The cheapest repair was just changing the headlight bulb, but even that was a hassle since the front bumper had to be dropped just to get enough space to change the bulb itself. Then, around 70k miles, the turbo went out, which cost us several thousand dollars to repair. Since then, the car has been going through a lot of oil. Now, just over 100k miles, the heating system no longer works, which will cost us another $1000. These issues alone are enough for me to not buy another Hyundai or recommend one to my family or friends. Additionally, the car is quite loud and has a rough ride, making you feel every bump on the road. There's also no space in the back seat for passengers. Overall, the quality of this vehicle is poor and its performance has been just as bad.

Your car has some great features and looks beautiful! Although it has 50k miles and is 8 years old, it still has a very good rear view back up camera. However, there are some blind spots at the rear hatchback area quarter panel that the camera does not pick up, which could be improved by adding glass. Additionally, the windshield trim at the sides is a bit too wide and creates a blind spot. The rear hatch back door opener could also be improved, as it cannot be opened from the driver compartment and the rubber opener outside on the hatchback door deteriorates quickly. The front door is a bit long and can create problems in tight parking spots, but overall it's a great car. The sun glass holder push and open style is a bit fragile, and a spring latch would be more dependable. Although the warranty sounds great, I had some issues with my transmission and it took a while to get it fixed. However, the dealership eventually resolved the issue and got my car back on the road. Overall, I'm happy with my car and would recommend it to others.Had to get my car towed back due to a faulty crankshaft sensor. Although it's running fine now, the touch screen unfortunately doesn't work anymore. The dealer informed me that the radio component failed and the whole info center needs to be replaced. It's quite frustrating, which is why I'm giving it 2 stars. The transmission is not great, and I've had some issues with the warranty service from Hyundai. Additionally, some parts have broken down after only 50K on the car. The stock tires that came with the car were also not very good, as I experienced major drift on straight roads. However, once I replaced the tires, the drift disappeared. Other than these issues, the car is nice... as long as you keep it under 40k.

I've had to replace the turbo twice in the past two years. Although I'm not racing, I do use my car daily and drive safely and carefully. I've spent around 5k on repairs with my local mechanic, as the price for maintenance at my local Hyundai dealer was much higher. Despite getting regular maintenance work done, such as tire rotations, oil changes, belt and bearing replacements, and general checks, I'm frustrated that I've had to spend so much money on my 2014 Veloster. I still owe 3k on the car, which I initially bought for 10,500, and even purchased an extended powertrain motor combo warranty for 2k. It's disheartening to think that I may never buy another Hyundai again. While some may argue that proper maintenance is key to a car's longevity, I believe that the cost of maintaining a car that's not even worth that much should be illegal. It's outrageous that I've had to spend 8k to replace a motor that hasn't even reached 200k miles. I'm disappointed that the good reviews I read before purchasing the car didn't reflect my experience. I hope that others will take my experience into consideration before buying a Hyundai.

I hope you're doing well! I've been having some trouble with my car lately and it seems like every month there's a new issue. Unfortunately, I've spent over 5000 on repairs this year. I wouldn't necessarily recommend my mechanic, but I'm hoping to find a solution soon. Take care!
