1992 Gmc Yukon problems
The Chevrolet Tahoe, and its badge-engineered GMC Yukon counterpart, are full-size SUVs and other trucks from General Motors, offered since 1994 and 1991, respectively. Since 1982, Chevrolet and GMC sold two different-sized SUVs under their "Blazer" and "Jimmy" nameplates, by introducing the smaller S-10 Blazer and GMC S-15 Jimmy for the 1983 model year, below the full-size Blazer and Jimmy models. This situation lasted into the early 1990s. GMC first rebadged the full-size Jimmy as the "Yukon" in 1991. Chevrolet however waited until 1994, when they rebadged the redesigned mid-size S-10 Blazer the "new Blazer," while renaming the full-size Blazer as the "Tahoe." The name Tahoe refers to the rugged and scenic area surrounding Lake Tahoe in the western United States, and was originally used as a trim level on S-10 models. The name Yukon refers to the Yukon territory of northern Canada.
For the 1995 model year, the Tahoe and Yukon gained a new, longer four-door model, slotting in size between the two-door models and the longer-wheelbase Chevrolet/GMC Suburbans.
The Tahoe is sold in North America, parts of Asia such as the Philippines, and the Middle East, plus other countries including Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Angola as a left-hand-drive vehicle. The Yukon is only sold in North America and the Middle East.
The Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon are part of General Motors' full-size SUV family and are differentiated from the similar Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL primarily by the length of the passenger and cargo area behind the C-pillar. An upscale trim GMC Denali sub-model joined the Yukon lineup as the top-of-the-line trim for the 1999 model year; the Cadillac Escalade is a closely related upscale version sharing the same platform. The Denali is available on both standard and XL versions.
The Tahoe has regularly been the best-selling full-size SUV in the United States, frequently outselling its competition by two to one.

Common 1992 Gmc Yukon problems
The GMC Yukon, while generally reliable, can experience various issues over time. One common problem area is the transmission, although it is not as prevalent as other issues.
Another common issue with the GMC Yukon involves faulty lights, particularly tail lights. Tail lights are the most likely components to fail early in any Yukon model year, typically around 60,000 miles. This problem is common in many 2015 GMC Yukon vehicles. Symptoms can range from moisture on the lens to complete failure of the light. Moisture can also form on the lens of headlights and brake lights, and turn signal lights may not illuminate when turning.
Interior and accessory problems are also common in the GMC Yukon. For example, the 2007 model year had the most complaints related to accessories and interior parts, while the 2015 model year was close behind. Loud noises from the dashboard, due to loose cables, wires, or other parts, are a common problem in the 2015 model year. Electronic accessories, such as climate control panels, console phones, front cameras, and USB charging ports, may also malfunction in Yukons of the same model year.
The 2010, 2011, and 2013 model years of the GMC Yukon can experience a different kind of interior panel problem, where the dashboard can fracture and become an eyesore, reducing the SUV's resale value.
Starter problems can also affect the GMC Yukon. Common starter issues include a dead battery, alternator problems, and failed starters. These problems can prevent the vehicle from starting or cause delayed starts, which can lead to grinding crank sounds prior to ignition.
Lastly, the GMC Yukon is subject to recalls, as with any vehicle. For instance, certain sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks, and passenger vans from various model years failed to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 135, "Passenger Car Brake Systems." Some of these vehicles were produced with an out-of-specification brake hydro-boost housing relief valve bore, which could cause steering efforts to increase while braking or parking. Under certain driving conditions, a fractured seal may also require an increase in the applied brake pedal effort to achieve the same vehicle deceleration.

STEERING,SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 1999-04-01
- Number Of Deaths: 1
- VIN: 1GKEK18K2NJ
- Components: STEERING,SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
- Summary: PROBLEM 1, BRAKES: THE ABS SYSTEM STATES IN THE OWNERS MANUAL THAT IN THE EVENT OF AN ABS FAILURE THE BRAKING SYSTEM WILL REVERT BACK TO A NON ABS MODE. IN MY CASE THE ABS PUMP IS STUCK IN THE "DUMP" MODE WHICK FESULTS IN ALL PRESSURE BEING LOST TO THE REAF BRAKES. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE LOCAL GMC DEALER, RIVERSIDE MOTORS, INDICATED THAT THERE IS PRESSURE TO THE REAR BRAKES AND THAT THE ABS IS JUST DISSABLED. WITH NEW REAR SHOES PROPERLY INSTALLED AND ADJUSTED THE REAR WHELLS WILL SPIN FREELY WITH THE BRAKES APPLIED. THE ABS WARNING LIGHT IS LIT AS WELL AS THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT. THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT INDICATES THAT THIER IS A LOSS OF PRESSURE IN THE SYSTEM THUS CAUSING AN IMBALANCE. A NEW MASTER CYLINDER DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE BRAKE FLUID IS BY-PASSING INSIDE THE ABS PUMP/VALVE ASSY. IR THIS OCCURRED IN A PANIC SITUATION MY BRAKING DISTANCE WOULD BE GREATLY INCREASE. PROBLEM 2, STEERING, THE STEERING COLUMN BROKE OFF AT THE TOP RIGHT WHERE THE TILT ADAPTER MOUNTED TO THE COLUMN. THE COLUMN HAS SEVERAL LOCATING NOTCHES CUT IN IT WITH SHARP CORNERS. IT LOOKED LIKE A CRACK STARTED AT A SHARP EDGE AND WORKED ITS WAY AROUND. THE COLOUM WAS LOSE FOR AWHILE AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE BOLTS WOULD NEED TIGHTENING BUT BEFORE I COULD GET THEM TIGHTENED THE COLOUM BROKE. NOTE I AM A BIG MAN,475 LBS I AM SURE THIS ACCELAERATED THE FAILURE BUT THOUGHT I SHOULD REPORT IT TO YOU ANYWAY. THANKS FOR THIS SITE IT WAS VERY HELPFULL AND USER FRIENDLY. *AK
