2022 Ford Ranger problems

The Ford Ranger is a compact or mid-size pickup marketed globally by Ford over a series of generations, varying between both in-house or outside development and manufacturing — and with a hiatus in North America from 2011–2018.
Debuting as a compact pickup in North America in 1982 for the 1983 model year, the Ranger was later introduced in some South American countries. From 1998 to 2011, the Ranger nameplate was used for models developed by Mazda for sale outside the North American market. In 2011, Ford introduced the first Ranger based on the T6 platform. Considered a mid-size pickup truck, the model was developed in-house by Ford Australia. In that same year, the North American-market Ranger was discontinued, leaving the T6 platform-based Ranger as the sole Ranger model worldwide.
For the 2019 model year, the Ranger was reintroduced in North America using the globally-marketed T6 model. It is manufactured at the Michigan Assembly Plant at Wayne, Michigan. The Ranger is smaller than the F-150 and larger than the Maverick in the Ford North American pickup truck range, while for markets outside the Americas it is typically the only Ford pickup offered for sale.
The second generation of the T6-based Ranger was released in 2021 for worldwide markets, using a revised T6 platform.

I traded in my Tundra for a vehicle with better MPG. My wife and I visit family 1900 miles away every 3 months, which we do in two long days. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the gas mileage average was 25.4 and the seats were incredibly comfortable compared to my larger Tundra. The Ranger is easy to drive and has plenty of power for passing. Overall, it's a great truck with a great ride!

I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying your 2021 Ford Lariat! It sounds like it's the perfect truck for you, especially with the towing package. And I agree, it looks really sharp too. Thanks for sharing your positive experience!

I bought the 2021 Ford Ranger XLT Sport package in magnetic gray about 2 months ago and have just over 2k miles on it. I absolutely love this truck! Here are some pros and cons that I've noticed: Pros: The Ranger is a fast little truck. After test driving many mid-size trucks, the Ranger is way zippier than any of the other models. It's also super comfortable to drive, even on longer trips. I'm 6'2

Awesome truck overall! I'm so glad to hear that you're impressed with the mid-size truck, especially since you've always had full-size ones. The Lariat package and 4x4 sound like great features too!

I just received my second Ford Ranger crew cab and I couldn't be happier! My first one was a year into the new model and it served me perfectly for 30 months. It had great mileage and no issues. This new one is even nicer with a great ride, great power, and a smooth 10-speed transmission. It's like having a pickup that is also a family car. Plus, it's a super value for the money!

The electric 10-speed transmission was a major issue for me. It would shift at inappropriate times, causing the vehicle to rev up and then jump into third gear. This resulted in two dangerous situations when I was entering traffic. Despite the dealer's attempts to repair the issue, the recommended fix did not resolve the problem. As an owner of both a 1988 Ranger XLT and a 2020 XLT V6, I can say that I miss both of them. Unfortunately, the cabin of the 2022 Ranger is quite awkward, with nothing easily accessible from the driver's seat. However, I was able to work out a satisfactory arrangement with the dealer, who I believe is a great company. Given Ford's past issues with the Focus and Fiesta transmissions, one would expect them to ensure that all their vehicles have a flawless powertrain.

undefinedMy experience with Ford, their dealers and their product has been disappointing. However, I am confident that my future purchases will be with a more reliable and trustworthy brand. While I have met some quality people who empathize with these issues, the lack of action and accountability from Ford has been frustrating. It is important to me to deal with an organization that I can trust with my hard earned money. My wife recently purchased a beautiful, fuel efficient Subaru and had a great buying experience. I urge Ford to prioritize excellence and accountability to regain the trust of their customers. Despite attempts to get warranty repairs done at two separate local dealers, my issues have not been corrected at this time. I hope that Ford will take the necessary steps to address these problems and improve their customer service in the future.

The truck had some challenges. Firstly, getting in the truck was obstructed by the front pillar, making it difficult to enter. Secondly, the truck's throttle response had a delay, which impacted braking and reaction timing. It's no wonder that when I picked up the truck, it was marked by the rental agency with a ding on the front bumper. The center console seemed like an afterthought, fitting into the leftover space of the design. The visibility was poor, especially for taller individuals. The truck had little feel for the road when steering, which could be acceptable for those with weaker arms or hands, but I felt like I was being disallowed to make the decision. Back-up visibility was terrible, making steering a total nuisance. Although the truck felt sturdy and strong, the overall awkwardness was a bit of a hardship. It seems like the truck was designed for more petite folks looking for the strength of a 1/2 ton truck.

Ford's quality has taken a hit. However, I am confident that the issues I experienced with my truck are not representative of the brand as a whole. The scratches on the dash and floor console, as well as the easily scratched door panels, were disappointing. Additionally, the brakes did not meet my expectations. As a lifelong Ford owner, I was disappointed with this experience. I trust that Ford will take the necessary steps to address these issues and improve their quality control.

The battery issue may arise after a year or two, with 'Battery Saver Mode' notifications on Fordpass, and may result in a dead battery that needs to be jumped or charged. Some customers have reported that Ford and the dealerships have not been responsive to their complaints. If you drive your car daily, you may not experience any issues. However, if you leave it at the airport for a week-long vacation, you may need to jump-start it upon your return. In my personal experience, I sold my 2-year old XLT with 8,000 miles within 24 hours of the dealership telling me that there was nothing wrong with the battery or electrical system.
