After reading about all the hype surrounding the Honda and getting a chance to drive both the 01 and 02 models, I must say that I am not entirely convinced. While the magic seat is certainly a neat feature and the upgraded motor and transmission are class-leading, I found that the Dodge offers a better-balanced suspension, steering with more feel, a quieter interior (unlike the Honda, which can be quite noisy), better seats, built-in child seats (which are just as much of a plus as Honda's magic seat), surprisingly tight build quality, and a smooth motor and transmission - all for thousands less in real-world money.

This is our fifth Caravan and it fits our lifestyle perfectly. We show dogs and the van is just what we need. I can easily fit two crates side by side in the rear (48in) and it's a breeze for our Golden Retrievers to get in and out. Even in bad weather, the liftgate can be left up and the dogs are protected. The van is also roomy and comfortable for us, allowing us to pack everything we need. We even have a roof rack for our kayaks!
-
It's great to hear that you find the van truly wonderful!

Dodge Caravan SE 3.3L 6 cyl engine is a very attractive vehicle both inside and out. It provides a smooth ride and is fun to drive. The excellent air conditioning and comfortable seats make it a joy to be in. Plus, kids absolutely love it! I bought a van with 130000 miles on it. Although I had to replace the AC compressor, fix an electric window motor, and buy the missing middle seat, I put on big tires to bring it off the ground. We took it on several long distance camping trips and loved the smooth ride. The fuel economy is not too bad on long distances, depending on driving style. However, the cruise control is useless in higher altitudes (we live in CO) and there is a small transmission fluid leak. Despite these issues, we have had no engine problems whatsoever. By the way, we also own a 95 Plymouth van in Europe which comes with a 4cyl. turbo diesel engine. I wish I could have that engine in my van! It is powerful and very economic (up to 30 miles).

We purchased this van as a reliable mode of transportation to take our children to the doctor. Unfortunately, we have experienced some issues with the vehicle, including the AC leaking, the AC fan breaking, the need for rotor turning, issues with the catalytic converter and muffler, and problems with the lower control arms. While some of these issues have been resolved after multiple visits to the dealership, others are still ongoing. Despite having to return the vehicle multiple times, we have not been provided with a rental car, which has made transportation difficult for our family.

I leased this van because it was affordable. As a parent of three children under the age of five, I need a reliable vehicle. Unfortunately, the van has been in the shop six times for the same issue - the emergency brake won't disengage, causing the rear brakes to lock up. This is a serious safety concern, especially since I need to use the emergency brake on my steep driveway. Although I was given a rental vehicle once, the problem persists and Chrysler's suggested procedure did not work. I am currently exploring options under the lemon law. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?

The van has been in the shop three times in the seven months that I have owned it. Unfortunately, I need to take it back again for the airbag light coming on (this will be the second time for this problem). I have experienced issues ranging from the throttle position sensor, airbag light coming on, to the check engine light coming on and the van dying out when warming it up. Additionally, the brakes have locked up a couple of times when stopping normally. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this vehicle. It is worth noting that my neighbor also experienced some of the same problems with the Dodge Dakota pickup truck, so it seems to be a recurring issue within the Dodge family.

I hope you're doing well! I was thinking about my car and I realized that I might have made a mistake by not choosing the Honda Odyssey. I was trying to save some money, but it seems like that decision might have backfired. Unfortunately, the transmission isn't working properly and the mechanics haven't been able to figure out the issue. I think the dealership had some good offers, but maybe I should have considered leasing the car instead. That way, I could have easily switched to a different vehicle if I needed to.
