- Summary: These issues have been spotadic since I aquired the vehicle in october of 2021. Not infrequently the ABS system feels like it is trying to engage at low speeds with light braking such as in a parking lot. This also happens after coasting(no gas, no brake no cruise control))and then accelerating The radio will randomly stop playing or begin playing. The turn signal indicator chimes randomly stop chiming when the turn signal is in use though the interioir indicator light will flash normally. I have not been able to stop when this occurs with the turn signal still active to get out and verify it the turn signal is actually working At random times a loud clacking sound will come from behind the dash in the general vicinity of the radio and there will be no out put from the dash vents until the clacking stops. The use of any controls whether radio or climate does not seem to cause this nor will it stop it. Actuator doorb and/or solenoid perhaps?

- Summary: This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2005-2009 Buick LaCrosse, 2006-2011 Buick Lucerne, 2000-2005 Cadillac DeVille, 2006-2011 Cadillac DTS, 2006-2014 Chevrolet Impala, and 2006-2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the weight on the key ring and road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.
- Consequence: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Additionally, a key knocked out of the run position will cause loss of engine power, power steering, and power braking, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my thoughts on the new Monte. I've taken it on trips to Chicago and the Quad Cities, and it's been great for day-to-day driving too. Honestly, I think it's the best car I've ever driven! The 3.9 6 cyl engine is powerful enough to turn heads (although I haven't been pulled over by the Iowa Patrol yet), but it still manages to get around 20 MPG in the city (and sometimes even 30+ with the instant economy feature!). Plus, the heated leather seats and remote start are amazing on cold days. It's such a nice feeling to get into a warm car after work. Sure, it's not a Mustang or Corvette, but the sleek design and performance of the Monte are really impressive. Thanks for listening to my thoughts!

This car has been amazing! It's been the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. It's also really fast, with a little more power than the front drive system can handle. In the winter, I can easily drive around other fast cars that are stuck in the snow because of their front drive. It's a trade-off that works really well for me. The interior is comfortable and solid, and the trunk is big. The only downside has been the fuel mileage, which hasn't quite lived up to the sticker's suggestion of 18/28. I'm getting 15.5/23. But overall, I'm really happy with this car!

Your car has been amazing! It has taken me to and from school (162 miles) countless times. I bought it used for 2800 and it didn't even have 60k miles on it. I feel like I got a great deal! I highly recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a reliable ride for their teen.

I'm thrilled to share that my car was built by proud Canadians and even won the JD Powers award! The car's interior and exterior design is so impressive that it turns heads of my friends. During my recent trip on the expressway, I was able to get an impressive 35.1 mpg while cruising at 67 mph, which is way above the 31 mpg rating for the 3.5 V-6 engine in my Monte Carlo LT model. Chev did a great job with this car, it's way better than my Olds Cutlass Supreme LS. I'm also loving the Onstar and XM features, even though I've only driven 500 miles in 6 weeks, I can already tell that this car is a keeper!

What a car! Chevy really did a great job with this one. They kept gas mileage in mind while still providing the most horsepower for your money. The big polished wheels give it that new, sporty look that everyone wants. From a performance perspective, this thing has some serious kick. And with the sunroof, 6-disc changer, and racing feel, this one is sure to turn some heads!

This is the second Monte Carlo I have purchased, but unfortunately it has been the worst experience. The problems started just 100 miles over the warranty, when the car would not shift into gear. I took it to Chev and was charged for a new ignition. A few months later, the same problem occurred and I took it to another shop, where I was told it was the shifter cable and had to pay again. About a year later, the same problem happened again. Then, the dash started coming apart and the AC went out, which also happened with my previous Monte Carlo after 6 years. Now, the transmission is the issue. If it was the shifter, when I tried to push the button down to put it in gear, it would not go, but it would do it randomly. Finally, after so many times of paying, I figured out that it mainly happened in the winter. Needless to say, it has been a frustrating experience.

Although I am sorry to hear about your disappointment with your 2006 Monte Carlo purchase, I must assert that Chevy has made significant improvements to their newer models. While I understand that the interior of the 2006 model may not have met your expectations, I can assure you that the newer models have much more to offer in terms of comfort and elegance. I encourage you to consider giving Chevy another chance in the future.

I am the owner of a used car that I thought was nice. I bought it with 47,000k fully loaded, which isn't bad for a 2006. Unfortunately, I discovered transmission problems two weeks and 300 miles after purchasing. I like the car, but I am disappointed with its performance. It slams into gear from park and hesitates to get into first, often jerking into first gear. I was told the car had a warranty when purchasing, only for the dealer to have no record of the warranty. Unfortunately, the car was out of warranty. After dealing with the Chevy dealer (seller) and GM, I can say that I am no longer a loyal GM customer. I hope to find a better car in the future.
